We just moved and decided that we needed some masonry work done. It was a big task, and I decided to contact City Suburb for a quote to do the work. Ravi picked up and we set an appointment which he arrived to on time. Ravi was considerate and professional, making some great suggestions in the process. Ravi's crew is comprised of some of the nicest people I've ever met. Everyone showed up on time, the work began when Ravi said it would, and the work was completed on the end date we agreed upon at the start. When all work was completed, a thorough clean up was done. Also, as a considerate bonus to us, Ravi gave us the remaining waterproof paint used to seal the cement wall that was built. It was very nice to have experienced doing work with City Suburb, because when you've got people doing a pro job it makes life much less stressful. I've already passed the City Suburb contact information on to a friend who liked the work we had done, and I'm likely going to be calling Ravi back soon to do more work for us. read more

Ravi and the team at City Suburb successfully addressed the leaks and waterproofing needs of the façade of our 7-story Brooklyn apartment building. This was a complex job involving hanging scaffolding and about two weeks of intensive work on the exterior of our building. The team was professional, and Ravi was available to connect throughout the process. In a job of this nature, there are always unexpected challenges, but Ravi and the team navigated those issues very well. Overall, City Suburb proved to be a very good choice for our project, and we appreciate their efforts in weather-proofing our building. We would work with City Suburbs again and are in the process of exploring our next job with Ravi and the team. read more

Ravi and his crew were great to work with. He quickly responded to my inquiry, came to my house, and explained the brick pointing of my rear exterior wall thoroughly. The project started soon after agreeing to the contract and his team were punctual, professional, hard working, and pleasant to work with. The job finished on time and I'm very happy with the result. I would recommend them to friends and family. read more

Not happy just with quotation but not actual action to find out why before issuing a solution

City Suburb waterproofed the real wall of our foundation. They knocked out the job in two days. Very professional, clean and respectful. It's rained once and the basement stayed nice and dry so lets' hope that holds true for many years to come. read more

Because of miscommunication between CitySuburb and my plumbers, the masonry job by CitySuburb did not go well, which added considerably to the total cost. However, CitySuburb did refund a small amount of my payment in an effort to rectify the situation. Moreover, the CitySuburb crew was punctual courteous and careful to clean up after the job. read more

Writing this review brings up a lot of bad memories/feelings. But I must warn those of you considering these people. Most of these reviews are fake. City Suburb pays hundreds of dollars a month to a company called 'LinkNow' to post reviews monthly for them. It's at the bottom of their website, look for yourself. They post reviews to google, home advisor, yelp, all of them. They also take down negative reviews for a price. They call them 'citations' to try to hide what they're really doing. Ravinder Singh from City Suburb stole thousands of dollars from me. He changed terms of the contract constantly after signing, invented/added prices, and delivers poor work with his unskilled workers. He charged me $3000 for permits that he never got. After I gave him payment he refused to go get permits and ran off with my money. (Yes, permits were part of the contract that he signed) The concrete driveway he was hired to do looks like children laid it and is starting to crack. One part of it was pitched so wrong that I had to force him to redo it because all the water would have been dumped right into my basement window. He used different color concrete so there's a big patch that is just a different color now. None of the lines are straight and there are no right angles. His workers are very unskilled. The basement cinderblocks he replaced are already showing signs of water coming through. If I can prevent at least one person from falling victim to Ravinder Singh and City Suburb maybe I can finally let this go. There are so many more bad things that happened with these people but this review would turn into an essay if I listed them all. You know what you did Ravinder. I don't know how you sleep at night. read more

Just had my foundation repaired and waterproofed by Ravinder and his team. Excellent work. They were done in just a couple of days. Very reasonably priced as well. I will definitely recommend them to anyone needing these types of repairs. They also did some concrete work for me which was sorely needed. read more

I waited a while to write this review as waterproofing is tricky and scary, and you never quite know if things are really fixed.. Well, here I am almost a year later and Ravinder and his crew's repairs to my foundation crack issues (causing leaks in my basement) have held up perfectly! I had gotten quotes and assessments from a couple different companies, and the City Suburb quote was both competitive as well as being the most thorough in scope. They had to dig into the asphalt around my condo building, patch the foundation, re-fill the asphalt and make sure it was sloped away from the building, in addition to fixing some sunken concrete areas elsewhere around the building. I wouldn't hesitate to use Ravinder and City Suburb again, and in fact there are some new structural and waterproofing issues with the building that we are having them assess over the next few weeks. Ravi has always been quick to respond, and is great with his communication. read more

We worked with Ravi from City Suburb on a quote, and then the work, to re-do our house's brick front steps. Unlike most of the houses in our neighborhood, our steps had curved brickwork, and original old railings we wanted to preserve. Ravi and his team were kind and professional, and worked with us to recreate the steps in the same design. We are very satisfied with the results. read more

I had Ravi and his guys make some significant repairs to 2 balconies at my house. The work was a combination of metal and masonry. They fixed the cracks and repointed the brick fences at the ends of the decks and patched the holes in the metal that were rotted out from years of water penetration and scraped away all the rust. Finished it off with brick sealant, epoxy paint for the balcony surfaces, and rust oleum for the metal work. This is the 3rd job I have hired City Suburb for and they have always delivered. Recommended! read more

Had Ravinder come out to my house for a quote on a concrete backyard patio, and two walkways around my house and garage. He responded quickly and was very professional and had a very reasonable and competitive quote. Needless to say i hired him and his company for the job. His guys were great and they did a great job and timing was perfect for us to enjoy our yard this summer. We will be hiring him again in the years to come for our future projects! read more

I hired City Suburb, Inc to do pointing for my entire brick house, and they did an excellent job. This was a large residential job, and the Managing Partner (Ravi) made sure that all work was performed timely and for a reasonable price. Along with the pointing work, the company also replaced the lintels for most of my windows, which were extremely rusted, and again, the prices were reasonable. I appreciated that Ravi ensured that his team showed up at 8am everyday without delay, caused no disruption to myself or my neighbors, and never upsold on any service or material. Everything was upfront and straightforward, which is a rarity in New York City. I was so happy with the company's brick pointing work that I immediately retained their services for installing soffit on the rafters of the house, which also came out great. I enthusiastically recommend City Suburb, Inc for masonry or any major renovation. read more

City suburb did a roof repair, gutter replacement and tuck pointing for my 2 story brick house. They are very professional and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend them for these types of job. read more

They were on time, friendly and professional. Price was reasonable. Ravinder was responsible and came back to fix something himself right away as per my request. Only thing is that they put materials on my garden (I bet they thought it was just weeds lol) and used some of our stuff (tarp, ladder, etc) without asking and kind of ruined our tarp. (not a big deal though) Otherwise, I'm pretty happy about their work. They fixed some cracks of our porch and put down new waterproof material and new granite title. Now we'll see if that really solved our water problem downstairs in a couple months. read more

I called Mr. Ravi in order to get some information on brick pointing of my brownstone. In addition I needed parts of the house and façade painted. I had the back wall and the front wall of an attached brownstone waterproofed, pointed and painted (partially). Mr. Ravi was very professional and sent me a proposal. We also negotiated a fair price. I am not an expert but I saw that all the cracks where filled with waterproof cement and the windows were sealed. The front of my brownstone looks now spectacular. The crew was pleasant and when they finished they cleaned up the job site. I would hire the company again for a similar project. read more

I read out some reviews and one of the most shocking things I read is that these people hired a team to make yelp profile ranking up. My personal experience with Mr. Singh and his team is pretty good. They repair the roof of my house properly read more

This company is extremely responsive and gets the job done quickly and effectively. I was having an overwhelming slow leak in my basement and Ravi and his team looked at it, gave me a quote, and got the job done all within 72 hours. Fortunately none of my things were damaged from the leak, and the basement was completely cleaned up, thanks to Ravi's fast work. Ravi was also attentive to explain every step of the process so I would understand what exactly was being done, and I was assured that the leak would be fixed for good. It has been a month and I've had no problems with the leak, and my basement looks great. I am planning on hiring Ravi and his team for more work in the future. I recommend you do the same. read more

Recently I needed to have tuck pointing and lentils replaced on my house, I've seen a lot of bad tuck pointing jobs and did a little research on how tuck pointing is supposed to be done. When I spoke to Ravi I knew right away he knew what he was talking about. He gave me a fair price and the workmanship his mend did was impeccable. It looked like freshly paved brick as opposed to the tuck point jobs I've seen. If you want a proper tuck point job done, call City Suburb and you can't go wrong. read more

I had such a great experience with Ravi and his company requesting building new set of steps leading to the basement, the price was right, they showed up on time and finished in 3 days. They worked very hard in the hottest days this summer but never complaining, I find Ravi and his crew to be excellent, his work was to my satisfaction and I already talk about another project with Ravi. I need to mention that Ravi always listened to my concerns and complied fully offering his professional advise, I highly recommend his company to anyone looking for 100% reliable crew! Thank you Ravi and see you soon! read more

While City Suburb did a fine job on our repointing project, we were disappointed in the roof work they did for us a few months later. We should have done more research, too, and gotten more estimates, but we were anxious to get the work done, so we rushed into it. Ravi and his team quickly installed asphalt strips over our existing roof material, using the "torch-down" method. After a series of damaging leaks over the next year, a home inspector, contractor, and architects all told us that the old material should have been removed first, and that the torch-down method is not a "best practice" (to put it politely) where we live or for our type of house. I had to chase Ravi for months to get him to return, address the recurring leaks, and honor his workmanship guarantee. Even after he re-sealed some spots, we kept having leaks, which my husband was eventually able to stem with mastic, mesh roofing tape, and caulk. Even after all this, we are still unsure that our "new" roof will last us even a handful of years. Long story short: we can recommend City Suburb for repointing, but not for roofing. read more

Ravi and his crew were doing work on a neighboring building in Crown Heights. He gave us a fair price, recognizing they were already on site on a another project, and finished early. He made observations about other conditions that he recommended we address. With another subcontractor, one would see this as purely self-serving, but he explained it clearly and worked with us on pricing to make it happen. His workers are polite, clean, and professional. They did a terrific job and will have them back to do more work in the future. Work performed: repair, strip, prime, paint cornice, and add top flashing. Installed a one way squirrel door. Repaired rear facade fascia with flashing. read more

We hired Ravi to do some leveling and concrete work in our basement. Ravi and his team were just amazing. They showed up on time each day, were courteous and let me know what was going on throughout the job. We ended up hiring them again to tackle several other projects including water proofing the exterior of the home, repairing the stucco and creating a new patio area in the back yard. All in all great work. The price was a little more than we wanted to spent but you get what you pay for. read more

Ravi and his team did a superb job. They spent the time they needed to evaluate the level of work that needed to be done and came back with a competitive quote. We have neighbors in a new building on one side, and ongoing construction on the other side of our building, and Ravi was great and professional in explaining the project, alleviating concerns and at communicating with all parties on an ongoing basis. His crew was very detail-oriented and experienced. They completed their work efficiently and within a timely manner. They cleaned up properly and our neighbors are delighted with the outcome, ie. their gardens look onto beautiful clean walls! Thank you Ravi and your team for your excellent work. We would not hesitate to recommend City Suburb and we would happily hire them again. read more

Ravi and City Suburb also are currently addressing a concrete problem I am having with my home and has been accessible and helpful.

Ryan and his team repaired our third-floor balcony. They did the following: replaced a piece of corroded metal on the bottom of the balcony and welded it to the rest of the structure; scraped and painted the other metal pieces; replaced cracked bricks on the facade of the building; removed existing brick pointing around the base of the balcony and pointed it back; filled cracks on the balcony floor with waterproof cement and applied a floor coating. We are really happy with the quality of work and professionalism. Addressing the issue of the corroded metal (which had become detached from the balcony and was hanging down) was tricky, but Ryan listened to our concerns and was able to address our needs with a solution that we felt comfortable with. Ryan is very responsive and easy to work with. The cost was reasonable compared to other estimates. We would hire City Suburb again. read more

Workmen started each day promptly and ended at scheduled end time. They worked hard and did high quality work. Work crew was professional and courteous. I made the right decision and so will you by working with City Suburb. read more

After a difficult winter, several rows of steps on my front stoop had sunken and became a serious tripping hazard. As I share this stoop with my neighbor- whose section was not crumbling- my biggest concern was to match the color and style as close as possible. It was clear 3 rows would have to be removed & rebuilt, and everything else grinded out & re-pointed to match the new mortar. I also wanted to make sure any new bricks would match the existing bricks. Ryan offered an initial estimate based on photos I texted him, but I had some specific add-ons I wanted to make sure were understood, so I requested he come in person. (In fact, of the 5 contractors I called, Ryan was the only one who arrived on time to give an estimate.) With a better understanding of what my project would entail, his estimate was slightly below what others had provided, so based on this, his professionalism and excellent reviews I selected City Suburb. His team was very hardworking and courteous, and were able to complete my work in one day (9:30am-7pm). They were able to re-use many of the old bricks and when they couldn't, matched new ones very well. Their grinding and re-pointing work came out beautiful- so many contractors do a sloppy job, but not these guys. They cleaned up well and before I knew it my crumbling and ugly stoop was a distant memory. read more
