First the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've been a loyal customer of Nailcessity for at least 7 years mainly getting eyebrow waxes and pedicures. I have always been very satisfied with both of the services listed and always provide a generous tip between 20-22%. About six weeks ago I was in Minneapolis attending my daughter's wedding and had a dip with chrome. I rarely have my nails done but after being so pleased with how beautiful my nails turned out, I decided to have them done again, this time at my own local nail salon. Here's the bad and ugly part of the review. I ended up having a family member who apparently is taking a greater role in Chloe's business--Uncle Tony, the other Tony recently left. Tony is in his early 50s and apparently needs to have his eyes checked. After removing the dip, and reapplying the new dip and chrome, he missed filling in the dip close to the corners of five nails. I pointed this out to him and he managed to correct those nails but I'm surprised that he isn't more particular in his technique. I also had a pedicure with someone who is fairly new who missed a lot of steps that I routinely had, foot and calf massage, hot towel etc but I missed those skipped steps at the time of service. My mistake. My dip on my left thumb chipped within one week and three polished toes also chipped within a week. I called to have a repair and they were agreeable to having me come in. Uncle Tony was trying to tell me that I must have done something to cause this and I told him my last dip lasted over 5 weeks with no chips whatsoever. I also mentioned that in Minneapolis they did not use the LED lights with their dip process. Meanwhile, the young employee was trying to tell me everyone has their own technique and their own way of doing things. I really don't care who does my nails as long as they can see what they are doing, take pride in their work, etc. When it came time to try to match my toenail polish color, Tony wasn't helpful and the young man told me to match the color myself. Very unhelpful! I'll miss Jada who is very nice and does an excellent job but Nailcessity lost my business and my generous tips!! I'll be happy to take my business elsewhere. Also, many employees have quit the past two years, and with Uncle Tony in charge--Good luck customers. He actually thinks it's a good idea to put an ATM machine right by the nail polish display blocking the very corner of the display. Is an ATM even legal in a nail salon business? Uncle Tony also added two flat screen TV's--why Uncle Tony?? I think most customers would prefer music vs screens. Also, Uncle Tony's work station is not clean--very dusty plus his nails are filthy with black dirt underneath them. Not a good look anytime--especially in the nail business. Uncle Tony.....You need a manicurist ASAP!! Also noticed nail tools sitting on a counter unsealed--hopefully sanitized before using on clients. I read more

Halfway through the pedicure he took the liner out and didn't replace it. And while using the pumice sponge he did this. The owner or manager looked at it and asked me if it hurt and that was it. No offer to take money off the price or anything! I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Very unprofessional. Can't seem to understand what an appointment is. If you book an appointment at 4, it shouldn't be done 45 minutes later with a stylist that you requested and then midway through they give you another one. One who has NO knowledge of how to interact with a customer that you are literally holding their hands. Very uncomfortable atmosphere. Terrible music. I went to nailcessity for a dip manicure and was asked if I had ever gotten this service before. I told him no and he proceeded to take short cuts and not do the service correctly. I know this because I checked the process with a friend who had recommended this shop to me and she told me no Uv light was used on her nails and that the process took a lot longer. I also went to another salon and got the service and can personally confirm it was much different than what I received at nailcessity. Quality of Service should not be determined by the busyness of the shop and I will not be returning here. read more

I am VERY happy with this salon. My nails turn out perfect every time and last for longer than I expect them to. They are very reasonably priced too. The only draw back is that sometimes you wait over your time that you have scheduled due to walk ins and such. I'm usually there 5-10 minutes early, but sometimes I still wait 10-15 minutes over my scheduled time. But I don't mind waiting since I like the quality of their work so much. read more

I have been going to the salon for two years and will not return again. During my last two visits, the pedicure was fine, but I do not want to hear all of Chloe's drama and foul language regarding her ending relationship. It's not a relaxing atmosphere and I find it offensive. read more

I hate to do this, but I have to downgrade my review. Today I had an appointment at 6:15 for a manicure. I showed up at 6:05 and was asked to wait, which is fine. Finally at 6:45 I was asked to take a seat. The technician two station over proceeded to try and upsell me to a gel manicure; I had already refused it when I walked in the door. You are already 30+ minutes behind on my scheduled appointment, please just give me the service I asked for. Five more minutes went by without anyone starting my appointment and I had enough. Very turned off by their poor scheduling, and the repeated attempt to upsell. I ended up leaving without getting my nails done. read more

0 stars if possible. I called the moment they opened to see if they had an opening for a pedicure. Lady told me she could squeeze me in at 1pm. Called me back and said 2pm instead. I came 10 minutes ahead. Got serviced at 215pm. They had attitudes or seemed as if I was bothering them that I walked in. They finally seated me and asked me what pedicure service I wanted. I chose the 45 minute one ($45) as it came with multiple scrubs and a foot massage. The lady RUSHED the entire pedicure. It was a total of 15 minutes exact from the cuticle cutting, taking off my old polish, the scrubs it came with and painting my toes... I had just woke up from a nap so I'm usually pretty irritable which is why I decided not to say anything. I paid and left. Will never return. Why say you can take someone and rush a service and expect the full price of a rushed service. Horrible attitudes and horrible service. Far from worth the $45. It chipped 2 days after as well. My manicure by Chloe was wonderful! My hands felt and looked SO good when she was done. The only negative thing about this salon is they struggle with the scheduling/timing of services and appointments. My mom and I waited 20-35 minutes beyond our scheduled appointment times to get our manicures started. Everyone else I was waiting with was also well beyond their scheduled appointment times. They do make up for it though with the speed at which they can do quality work here. read more

They just opened, so it was a little empty, and I was glad. I got to talk to Peter and Chloe, who I imagine are the owners. They were really nice and I felt comfortable around them. You know how it is when you go into a rando nail salon and you may or you may not have a bunch of the employees talking to eachother and you have NO idea what they are giggling about :-/, well it wasn't like that at all. They are probably late 20s, modern, and funny. It was fun, and the manicure was great. They also give you a card that for every so many visits, you get a free visit, or money off a visit. Awesome environment! The people are very very friendly and have amazing english. (Many nail salons have foreign workers...) they do an amazing job and if you have the slightest concern they are more than willing to make changes without a price difference. The people are all very conversational and its very clean! I have gone to this salon multiple times for acrylics and they have done an amazing job. They have fixed my cracked nails and reshaped and trimed them down for no extra charge. They have fixed acrylics that other salons have made mistakes with and they have great prices. Overall this salon is a great place and a great choice over many other salons in the area. read more

This salon is filthy. The foot scrubbing block looked like it scrubbed 1,000 feet. The nail file looked like it filed 1,000 nails.The employee's children are running around the salon. The back area of the salon looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. If you're looking to relax and get a pedicure, go somewhere else. It is a cheap place, very affordable. However, you get what you pay for. I am not sure what the manicure service is like, however, after my pedicure service, I will not be going back. Not too happy...although my services tonight were completed quickly and skillfully, I came away dissatisfied. First impressions are important; when I walked in and was asked how I could be helped, I said I had an appointment. From the other end of the salon where 2 employees were lounging on the pedicure chairs looking at their phones, he yelled across the salon, asking what services I wanted. After I answered, he said nothing to me, went into another room, came back out and resumed lounging and looking at his phone. Not a word was said to me. When another employee noticed me standing there waiting, they finally told me that "she's coming...she's eating ". Awkward. It's as if they didn't care if I was there or not. A good salon experience is the whole thing, not just a mechanized service. Next time I'll go to a salon that actually cares about their clients and whether or not they'll return. It's a very nice salon. Technicians are friendly and courteous. I was loving this salon because no one I know uses it, it's not filled with ghetto unprofessional workers or clients and that's a plus for me!!!! The reason I gave it 3 stars however is my nail technician decided to let me know that the pink and white acrylic that I get takes too much time to do and I believe she's the only one that can do it. If you offer a service, and I want it then that's what I'm going to get. She even TOLD me not ASK me to soak them off so that I can get the quicker process. This made me definitely not want to go back. If the process is too long, which it is, then don't offer it at your salon. But as long as it's offered, that's what I'm going to get. It is NOT my problem that it takes too long. Maybe they need to train two others to do it as well!!! Then she stated that the other process would be better for me since I'm always pressed for time. I don't know who told her that nonsense but when I make an appointment, it means that I have set aside the time to take care of my nails!!!! I'm going back but I'm NOT soaking anything off. Poor service and unpleasant staff. Waited for 20 minutes with appointment. One of my nails was damaged, but didn't know until the nails were removed. Owners bickered throughout the process of doing nails. Owner indicated she 'hated' color I picked out. Really unprofessional - do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

Just had a pedicure today and I have to say that the young man who took care of me was fantastic! So meticulous and just as a side note, I have to say it's been a ...*a while*...since I've had a pedicure! But he did an amazing job. It is very sad that I have to Retract my previous review but this place has turned into a "ship em in get em out salon"! I've been going here for exactly one year and was completely amazed until October! They get you in, rush you through, I've had 3 nails chip within 2 days of being done, but 2 weeks ago was the final straw! I had a 10 o'clock appointment with the owner Peter, had a complete take off and manicure along with a fill and gel! I was looking for a color I had had in the past, and the wheel it was on fell on the floor! Not one employee offered to retrieve it for me, so when I rolled my chair back to pick it up myself, the chair went out from under me and I landed on the floor! Embarrassing enough without having the other owner Chloe laugh and just continue on not offering to help etc! As Peter was finishing I had to remind him he forgot to put topcoat on one hand and had only put one coat of polish on the other! REALLY..... NO MORE! read more
