She does not know how to lay acrylic. They were curved and chunky. She cannot shape nails either. I'm not sure why she does nails. I don't know her name but she was an Indian woman. I'm in town for a wedding and need a quick manicure. I found this place and it had great reviews and was right outside downtown. When we first walked in I noticed the carpet was so gross. It had dust, not just acrylic dust, but food etc on the floor. The staff was very scattered. One woman was trying to do nails, and answer the phone, and greet people coming in. My tech was very nice but it really bothered my friend and I that the tools weren't cleaned between use. My tech even used the cuticle clippers on himself before clipping mine. Treated my mom to a pedi mani Saturday a.m. for a special event Saturday night. She had her gel manicure removed as her nails were becoming soft and unhealthy. The mani was chipping by that evening. She called Monday to report every sileas chipped, it's been less than 48 hours! Instead of apologizing and fixing the problem a women argue with her on the phone, telling her it chipped because she didn't have gel nails. Come on! That's not acceptable. When she arrived to have it repaired more arguing except this time in Vietnamese. Eventually some one redid the mani. The number one reason a mani/pedis fail quickly is nail prep. Had a pretty bad experience here, similar to the other one-star reviews. I wouldn't recommend going. The salon isn't very clean, and I don't think they sanitize their tools properly. I also left with a burn/scrape on my hand because of how careless the technician was. This was my second time here since I live nearby. The first visit was okay, but I noticed the tools weren't the cleanest. I needed a quick manicure before an event I was photographing that night, so I decided to give it another shot, definitely regretted that choice. Instead of leaving with nice nails, I left feeling worse than before. A few things that went wrong: -There was a small hair stuck in my gel polish, and when I pointed it out, instead of just removing it, the tech painted over it. It was super obvious, so she had to redo the whole nail, costing me longer time on my lunch hour from work. -She got some red polish on my hand, and instead of using nail polish remover, she took a nail file and filed my skin to get it off. I was so caught off guard that I didn't react fast enough to stop it, and I ended up with a red burn-like mark that turned into a scab days later. -While I was there, another customer was upset, saying, "You cut me!" before walking out without finishing her nails. That was definitely a red flag. I think it depends on which tech you get, but if you go, avoid the older technician. I just started going to Nail Love in Bay View this past year, and most of the time, the service and technicians have been wonderful. However, the last two visits have felt off. During these visits, I had two younger technicians who skimped on the services for pedicures and manicures, and I had to ask for some of the services that were included with the pedicure. The tools that were used were also dirty, and the environment felt rushed and uncomfortable. Beyond my expectations! Just left with some beautiful gel chrome sets, while my momma got such a cute gel pedi. These ladies were so gentle, attentive and personable. Highly recommend this salon! As for COVID, guests are not required to wear masks, meanwhile the techs are required and - from what I saw- were worn properly throughout my whole appointment. The services that are provided are done very well, which my husband and I have gone multiple times for mani pedis. However, the customer service itself has been atrocious. Issues include: 1.) 3x in a row, I've called to make an appointment with a specific person. Instead, they did not have me on the schedule, put me with someone else, and the one time had me soak my nails and wait for 25 minutes. The last time this occurred (yesterday), when I called to make the appointment I had confirmed THREE times the time, day, and person and still there was an issue. 2.) We've been multiple times now and no one acts as if they remember us. This might sound like a ridiculous complaint but everywhere else I've ever been in my life, after going at least 2-3x I've been somewhat remembered, and it's nice. It's part of the customer service experience. Instead, you are greeted by one of the owners who appears to be bothered by your presence. I neglected my nails for a few weeks so I needed some refreshing. I decided to go outside my comfort zone and try Nail Love. There wasn't a wait but it was still busy inside. My pet peeve is when salons take every walk in and don't respect reservations. The inside was updated but wasn't overly trendy but nice and clean. Service was good and professional. My only knock is that they seemed to be running out of color choices. My first choice wasn't in stock as well as the lady sitting next to me. I was glad I was in a no judgment zone because there was skin flying when he worked on my "hooves". He did a nice job at getting them closer to normalcy. As a bonus they were running 20% off prices so that was good. Will I stray from my normal place in the future? It depends on the availability of the techs at Nail Love. I called for a walk-in manicure and was told they are busy but can fit me in and to be there in 30 minutes. So I arrived early and happy to wait my turn. All was good until, I noticed as my nails were being done that the gentlemen rushed through and did not do a professional job. I paid ahead of the gentleman completing my polish, $19 with $5 tip. I mentioned that I understand you are busy however, I would prefer not to be "fit it" if not able to do a professional job. I was told my manicure looks this way because it is not gel. I started going to Nail Love due to its close proximity to my house, but I've since been going back because I have had consistent, positive experiences here. The salon is clean and comfortable. The pedicure massage chairs are very nice and relaxing. I've only gotten one pedicure here, but they did a great job and I left happy. I've been getting my acrylics done here for the past month and I have been satisfied with them so far! The shape and length are exactly what I asked for and I'm looking forward to getting some design work on them next time, since I usually see a lot of customers getting that and it always looks so great! My one complaint about Nail Love is that they seem to overwork themselves to the point where they can get pretty rushed. They take walk ins and if you call in advance, they seem to always tell you to come right in. So I've seen it get very busy, and they have sometimes run out of supplies due to how many people are in the salon at one time. I appreciate that they want to service as many customers as they can, but customers also appreciate honesty, so if you are too busy, you should probably just say that. I generally love getting my nails done and it's one of the most relaxing part of my day. I normally get them done every 2 to 3 weeks, and have most recently been experimenting without and pink and whites. Last week I came in to get my nails done. About a day and a half later they started peeling off my natural nail. I came in and wanted to get my nails fixed. After removing all my polish they redid my nails and charged me $60. Normally nail salons have a week or two guarantee. Just be warned that they do not and if you need your nails fixed you will be paying in full again. One more note as somebody who frequents nail salons and has tried many, in search of the right fit/nail tech. Never in my life have I seen the nail polish removal process done by sliding a nail extension between the natural nail and the polish. Normally it will be done by filing down the top using a drill. Then acetone will be applied and let the nail polish or dip soak off. I find the process they use here very damaging to my natural nails and have seen significant weakness in my natural nail. Also note that in the manicure there is no attention, trimming, or filing of the cuticle which normally is included in a manicure. read more

If you had asked me to give a review 4 weeks ago, I would have given 5 stars. Dee is the best nail tech I have ever had. She gave me an amazing dip manicure that lasted 2+ weeks. And then yesterday happened. I went in for another dip manicure, and for reasons that are still unclear, it took almost 2 hours to get my manicure completed! The tech kept drilling my nails, which was the whole reason I typically go with dip or shellac- no drilling required. 2 hours and my nails look like shit. They're now thin, way too short and I had polish all over my hands and cuticles. To quote a friend, "my 4 year old niece could have done a better job!" It's a shame because the salon is in a great location, very clean, and the staff is friendly. But seriously inconsistent when it comes to the nail techs. read more

My neighbors recommended this salon and always have beautiful nails so I thought I'd try it being as it's close for me. It felt so good to pamper myself again and I was having a pleasant time regardless of the unfriendly initial greeting by the I assume manager or head tech. The two techs I had for my mani and pedi were incredibly nice. When it came time for my full set the tech was rushing through but seemed experienced. At the time I wasn't paying attention and trusted she was doing a good job given her friendly nature and experience. I had told her I had issues at one of the first nail salons I'd ever been too regarding my nails pointing up and she said her nail beds are the same way and she knew what to do. I tipped well and went home. Once inspecting at home I realized they all point up and she didn't bevel them down around the edges. So I have acrylic on my skin, and my nails look like blobs. It's going to look absolutely horrible when they start to grow out. I'd return for a pedi, but as far as acrylics I'll be driving to my previous girl on the east side who knew what to do and made my nails perfect every time. I'd say if you do go here make sure you inspect your nails every step of the way no matter how rude it feels. If they care about customer satisfaction and choose to reach out and redo my nails I'd be willing to delete this review and leave a more positive one. Until then here we are. I was hoping to love it because it's close to home but sadly was a huge disappointment. I haven't had a full set put on in a long time but decided to try it again. The place looks nice, the services offered are great and prices seemed reasonable, however the service provided is where the two stars come into play. They are rough with your hands-twisting and turning fingers as though they aren't attached to my body or feel pain. I unfortunately didn't notice at the time, one of my nails was askew; leaning towards the right. From hand to hand they shape of the nails was uneven. Then, I brought up the promotion I read online for 20% off. I was dismissed quickly saying it's not valid anymore even though it was still on the site. I returned for a second time to get my nail fixed (the one that was askew) and got a fill. I was passed off by the first technician to the second, assuming they talked to each other about what should be done, but no. I noticed he wasn't going to fix the nail so I brought it up and then he responded rudely, "you should have told me that". I said I did explain it twice, once as I was signing in and secondly to the first technician. Then he got glue stuck to my finger...I didn't say anything at first hoping he would just take care of it as I know he felt it since his finger got stuck to mine as a result, but no, he left it. So I did bring it up and he acted as though it was a bizarre request and just said, "yes in a minute". Then I was passed off to a third technician, still glue on my finger, to finish painting my nails. Had to ask her, and again, with a sigh, she did it and even though there was still glue stuck, she stated " that's good". While I was waiting for the seat to open up for her to paint my nails I heard her blaming the other client for the polish getting bumped in the dryer..,which she did not it was just the nail polish bubbling up which unfortunately also happened to mine. The fill wasn't done correctly and the polish was bubbled. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Won't be returning. read more

This was my 2nd time visiting this nail salon and it has been mediocre at best. Although, I have found the techs that worked on my nails to be polite, I couldn't help feeling like they were rushing the service to get to the next customer. This time I brought my mother (from out of town) who had a terrible experience. She only needed a nail color change and they tried to take someone else ahead of her. I didn't notice this was happening as I was getting a pedicure on the other side of the salon. Overall, when my mother spoke up, the tech took her next, but was quite dismissive of my mother's simple requests and really just rude. I made it point to say that I would not be coming back because of the poor service they provided to my mom and only tipped my technician.
