They have a great selection to help with almost anything. From gardening, home repairs, new builds or just projects. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I can usually find some hard to find parts here. If there is a complaint it would be checking out. Whenever I need to do something around the house, and need some sort of hardware supplies, I normally like to give my business to a local company, as we should help local businesses stay afloat, as they provide jobs & support within the local community. City Mill is my hardware store of choice! Now don't get me wrong..........I do shop at Home Depot & Lowes at times when I am looking for something that City Mill doesn't carry, or if I am on da cheap where I wanna save a few bucks! Lol! I was working in Ewa Beach this past week, and I remembered I needed to buy something, as I was fixing something on our garage. Luckily, City Mill was in the same shopping complex on where I was working, so I decided to pop on in to check it out! Located at the Laulani Village Shopping Center, you'll find City Mill towards the opposite end of the mall (from Safeway) as the store is just next door from Petco. Like any hardware store, you'll probably find whatever you need here for home improvement, and I even saw that they carried some pet supply items, too! Got what I came here for, and I even noticed their prices for the item I was looking for was even cheaper (lower) than Home Depot, or Walmart! Went into went straight to the key making desk pressed the button for service now the gentleman who showed up worr a smile and proceeded to assist me on my key making project. Took my key and started to get to work. Shortly after some younger azz wipe came up to me I. A rather combative manner straight up all bag are subject to search upon leaving.. i replied im sorry I do not consent to searches you need a warrant for that . I will not comply nor give up my freedoms to you. He said its company policy. I said his policy does not prevail over my rights so he said but you can open your bag to show me I said no I will not. He said then I can leave I said fine asked for my key and left. Dont come here if you need window screens fixed! Went here to drop off my window screens to be fixed. After 3 weeks, my screens still werent done. No one in department and just one older guy working! He said about 3 weeks turn around and had to go back to take it somewhere else. Mind you, he almost couldnt find the screens I dropped off. We respect our elders but clearly he shouldnt be working and is slow, un-organized and there is an odor in that back area. After locatin my screens, it took another 30 mins for them to process my refund. City Mill should stop taking orders for screen replacements or train new people till they catch up with orders and let customers pay when screens are ready to be picked up. FYI: I ended up going to Screen Works in Waipahu which had a better turn around time of 3 days! You also pay when your screens are done. read more

I needed a shoe rack for the garage but, I didn't think is was essential enough to go into the store searching for it. I live nearby to the Ewa Beach City Mill so I decided to check out the online store and see if they offered pick up options. They do! With the new social distancing guidelines, they offer curbside pick up. You can either call to order or order online. I chose the online option. Once I found the items I needed, I placed my order. Within 12 minutes of receiving my order confirmation via email, I received a follow up email that my items were ready for pick up. THAT'S FASTER THAN I COULD HAVE FOUND IT HAD I GONE INTO THE STORE!! After receiving my pick up notification, I went to City Mill where they have designated parking for online/call in orders. I called the number provided, gave them my name, and within 5 minutes an employee was bringing my items to me. The employee confirmed my identity and order number, placed my items in my trunk without ever coming in contact with me. Service was prompt and convenient! read more

Called about an electrical item and took forever to get someone to answer the phone, when someone finally answered the phone the person said they worked in the electrical department. Asked him about an item and he said he would check. Less than 30 seconds later he came back and said they didn't have the item. I really don't think he even knew what I was talking about just said we don't have. I should know better than to even call there, should have just gone to a real hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's. I won't make that mistake again!! read more

Came here once and needed help finding a product. I walked up to an employee who did not appear to be busy--he was standing in an aisle looking at the products but was not talking to anyone. Excused myself to ask him for help and he immediately held up his finger and snapped, "Yeah just hold on!" and made an irritated face. Super rude and unnecessary. He proceeded to just stand there. I was stunned for a couple of seconds but realized I did not want his help and walked away. If you were indeed busy, I understand but that response was quite unprofessional, especially in a customer service position. I don't go here anymore because of that one interaction. read more

Rented a rug doctor. Initial csr told me that the cleaning bristles needed to be cleaned out upon return and I said I understood. Of course I cleaned it out the best I could short of taking it apart and running it through a car wash. When I retuned it I was told that it wasn't clean enough and that I was supposed to disassemble it and shoot it with water. Nice. The first csr didn't instruct me in doing so nor did she demonstrate it. I'm not a vacuum cleaner specialist so I don't have a clue as how to do that. Or did it come with a manual to show me how to. It was clean and cleared from major debris and hair etc... with the exception of some dust residue. So petty. And they charged me $25 for them to clean it themselves. Service with a smile. Ewa Beach's City Mill is close to the house so when I need something quick, I come here. The place is well organized and even through not as big as Home Depot (I know you read that review), they always have what I'm looking for. The staff is unbelievably knowledgeable about where things are and even go out of their way to help. Example: I had a question about setting up my security lights and Jason went well past explaining by opening packages and showing me step by step how to set it up. This dude answered questions I had and explained things clearly. This man deserves a raise or a least a yellow sticky of appreciation. Aside from tools, they sell plants, wood boards, some furniture, pipes (PVC, copper, steel, etc), toilets, sinks, pet supplies, paint, you get the picture. Overall five stars. The customer service at this Ewa location is as unprofessional and ghetto as you can get. Not only does the cashier decides to "talk story" when there is over 20 people in line, but the manager Steve ignores the customers in line as well. When they decide to open another register, it's only for customers making card purchases. This doesnt make any logical sense at all, because everyone paying with cash is now pushed to the side, even if there were a bunch of people before them. This is what happens when City Mill chooses to use cheap labor over qualified workers, the customers suffer. Unless you want to be treated unfairly as a paying customer, avoid this location at all cost. read more

These guys actually answer their phone. With covid-19 restrictions. It's great to have to talk to people who can answer your question, then deliver curbside. Big Box may have more selection. But waiting on the phone is super long and not everything has an "Off the shelf fit". Sometimes you have to be unconventional and look at what's available and have adaptability. This is not my first choice of home improvement stores but the location helps. It is located near shops, places to eat and grocery store. I love that this store is never crowded. I cannot find everything I need all the time but there is a decent selection of plants, and other home improvement materials. I was very impressed that the one gentlemen knew exactly where all the items were and this helped make my trip very short. Came here since I was in the area and needed to make a copy of keys. The shopping plaza is super nice and clean. Ross is around the corner and Safeway is convenient if you need gas or groceries. The staff at City Mill was super helpful and friendly. The key copy process was quick and I wish I lived closer so I could use this location more often. read more

This is not my first choice when I need something. They don't carry everyrhing. For instance, recently, i needed to replace the door handle and latch for our screen door. They don't carry it. When I asked about it I was told nobody makes that any more. I didn't believe that. Went to Home Depot and found it there. It was a perfect match too. Same make and model. However, when I needed to replace this weird faucet setup that no one had they actually had it. Had to pay a price for it though. They are hardly ever the best price town but when you factor in distance and time they become very convenient. I believe management knows this pushing customer service to be top notch. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable no matter what department they are assigned to. I ask lots of questions and get some pretty good answers. Now, I still do my own research online. When I do ask questions at other similar places, sometimes the answers are not forth coming. Wanna get some straight answers.... City Mill. For that reason I do come here often. read more

I shopped at the Ewa Beach store in the Laulani Village Shopping Center and proceeded to the clerk to pay for my purchases. I handed the clerk the "$5 off $50 coupon." The clerk was puzzled why the coupon wouldn't scan despite my $86+ purchase. Another clerk informed her that coupon is invalid since it couldn't be used with "building materials." I asked why since it was listed as a restriction. She said building materials (bags of gravel) are considered "non discountable items." Again I said that wasn't listed as a restriction. She just walked away saying it couldn't be used with gravel. I am disappointed that despite my supporting a local company during this covid time, you store policy is vague and very deceptive. I find your store's response to be reprehensible and beyond accepting. City Mill should be ashamed for scamming customers trying to support them. There are enough employees in this store that you don't have to spend your time searching for assistance if you need some. The layout is warehouse-like and pretty straight-forward. It's well-lit and well-organized. The interesting part about the layout is their checkout area that leads a customer through a series of low-shelves stocked with smaller items that might appeal to your project or even your tastebuds. You might get distracted and standing in line doesn't seem to take long. This place needs to hire more people! I've been walking around for a while back and forth trying to find a worker to help me in the furniture section. Literally no worker in sight, I was losing my patience so I called the store number to ask for assistance and the lady on the phone was asking what aisle I was in. I just told her I was in furniture. She kept asking the aisle number so she could page it. Doesn't she work here? shouldn't she know. And I think it doesn't matter what aisle it's on. If you could page in "customer needs assistance in the furniture department" then that's good enough too! Eventually, after walking some more, I found an employee and I don't think the lady even paged anyone because immediately after the call ended is when I saw someone to help me. No one else came by the furniture section after the call. Also needs to hire more people on registers! There was only one lady ringing people up and there was a long line. read more

In the pursuit of being the most inconvenient hardware store in Hawaii, now the City Mill location in Ewa closes the gate to the garden section on Saturdays, or whenever they "don't have anyone to work the garden section". So if you want to buy bags of concrete, concrete masonry units, long lumber, you have to first find a usable cart, then snake your way through the interior of the store about 200 ft. to the only open register. If you've ever been there you know how crowded the aisles are. Really absurd. Apparently the large fence and gate in the garden section is actually there to keep you and your money out! read more

I'm not usually a frequent visitor to hardware stores, but if I need something I would definitely go to City Mill. I usually find that prices are higher for items in Hawaii due to obvious import taxes and shipping, but they really price their items right, and they have a good selection of items. Perhaps this is not the ideal place if you're looking for something very specific, but I surprised myself by finding so many things that I didn't realize I "needed" when perusing their store at the Grand Opening :) The deals this week were amazing... like Ikea prices but for top shelf quality items, and this new location is awesome! read more

This is my neighborhood store. Saved me more than a few times when an emergency repair came up at home. Staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help.
