I went to OfficeMax in Waipahu hoping they had the scanner I needed for my business. The store was super clean, and there were plenty of employees around to help. I worked with Janai, and she was great. They didn't have it in stock, and actually no one on island did, but she went the extra mile and found it $40 cheaper online and told me right away. They price-matched it on the spot, and we got it ordered to be delivered straight to my door in about nine days, which is perfect. She also let me know that if I find it cheaper anywhere within two weeks, I can bring my receipt back and they'll match it again. They even let me use my rewards, which was a nice bonus. Only downside is they no longer offer a military or teacher discount, which is a bit of a bummer. But overall, a solid experience. SYOY! Deb B read more

And their sales reciepts show the customers no record of how many accumulated rewards points you have. And when you go online to check how many points you have, "it's always not accurate" !!!!!!!! When I need printing services I look no further than this location. The printing center has everything I need and the service here is really great. I am thankful to walk in to knowledgeable and friendly staff there who have helped with printing needs from business logo banners to coursework to legal document copies photos and everything in between. Upon arrival you simply enter in your phone number to check in and select what type of printing you are looking to do. Within minutes your phone pings a message saying your wait time and when they're ready for you. There is a $2.50 minimum service for their personal printing however the kiosks and self printers are also available to you as well as other resources that you can utilize and to protect your documents and photo copies you are provided a Manila folder on each trip. Special shout out to Adam there who has seen and helped me more times than any other worker. I am super grateful as he always goes above and beyond in his customer service there. They also utilize canva for canvas and big banner printing as well to check out. With graduation season coming up this is the place to go to get your banners done as well. I approved a job based on a test print made in a tiny corner expecting it to look like the pdf downloaded but was mistaken. Why not do a test print on skin tone instead? I did not know what to ask for but employees should know if that is their expertise. I had to redo a job and paid twice as much for what I should have received the first time. Very poor customer service. Store was empty & no one greeted us. I was looking to buy a printer. After browsing for 15 minutes, I walked near salesperson & was offered assistance. My husband was entering info to get a TSA Precheck appointment which showed availability today. When questioning salesperson, he told us although it showed online it will be canceled. Spoke to manager about the confusion, who said it would be canceled because they have expired credentials & appointments are only done on Mon and Wed morning. There was no apology. When we asked about other stores, he suggested Aiea or Ala Moana takes walk-ins. I called Aiea store & explained to a guy who went to check with manager. He put me on hold for 15 min. Meanwhile, we drove to Aiea store, was greeted by a nice lady, while holding on speakerphone. She pointed out the guy who I spoke with, he reached in his pocket & immediately cut me off the phone, then turned away as another customer walked up to him. No apology from either salesperson. I then called Kapolei store & was told there's system problems & staff shortages. No apology either. Very sad that these employees aren't taught better customer service skills. "I'm sorry" should be the first thing everyone needs to tell us before their explanation, putting us on hold or running away. read more

Had a TSA appointment. Arrived on time. Had to wait a half hour to be serviced. We were informed that the staff member who was going to help us was busy finishing up something. Why have an appointment time if customer service is not up to standard and unable to service an appointment time? Had to complain to another employee twice to be serviced. Not good. I needed copies to be made and my bestie told me to go to office max she said they do make copies so I was in the waikele area and went in. You do have to sign in on their check in laptop to get service for making copies or printing things. I was only to wait 5 mins then my turn. They text message you on your phone when it's your turn. If you don't reply right away they will text you again. Great service I think. When the customer representative said it will take about 2 hrs for my copies she said she'll call me when it's done. I told her if I'm still in the area I be back if not I'll pick up the next day she said no problem. Well it was done I think just under 2 hrs she called me and I pick it up. I thought it was fast and surprise it wasn't that expensive. Thank you office max for getting my copies done in a timely manner. Order of Operation: I love how they open early throughout the week from 8am-10pm on the weekday. This store is one of few stores that are open early in the Waikele Shopping Center. I love it bc after work (night shift) I can stop by and do my errands or things I needed to do without waiting. Weekend opening hours are different, they do open later at 9am Saturday & 10 am Sunday. NEW: They have a new check-in for printing & faxing services. Before we usually flag down a worker to help with these services but for convenience, you now have to sign-in to get called. Which is a more fair way and better way to get assistance. You input your name, what services that needs to be done & your phone #. They will immediately send a text regarding the estimated time you need to wait and will alert your phone when it's your turn. I thought this was awesome! You can shop around, while your things are being printed and don't have to worry coming back and forth to see if your products are ready. This time I went in to do a personalize endorsement stamp. I thought it would take a day or two to make, but the worker said it will take less than 30 minutes. I said awesome! He reminded me that he will send out an text when my stamp was ready for pick-up and I went to shop around with ease, knowing that I didn't have to go up there to check until I got a text message. I needed to get a file printed & bound that was too large to upload on the website, so I called and Adam said they could assist me in-store. It was a little tricky but we ended up figuring out a way to send it and get it printed. They're my son's homeschool textbooks in PDF format, so I wanted to make sure the pages were aligned and bound in a specific way. Adam was extremely helpful in customizing our books! He was so patient and did even more than I could've asked for to get this right. He showed me the previews on the computer and then printed a little out at a time to make sure it was to our liking. The website only gave the option for binding on the long edge with landscape prints but Adam helped me in-store to get them bound on the short edge. Honestly, it cost a lot more than I was hoping to pay. I could've purchased the hard copies of these books and paid for expedited shipping and it would've cost less. This still saved me on time, because we all know that expedited shipping to Hawai'i could still take a long time. I also had a coupon that helped me save $45 and got one of the books' content printed in black and white to save more. The price difference between color and black and white printing is pretty significant. I'm thankful for the coupon and great service from Adam, but Office Max definitely still hurt my pockets. read more

THIS JOINT IS HORRIBLE !!! Get this: I placed an online order at 7:00 a.m. for some labels that I badly needed for work. At 8:00 a.m., I got an email telling me that my order was ready for pickup. I got dressed and headed to the store. When I got there, there were several cars in the parking lot with people sitting in them. I parked and walked up to the door, and it was locked. The sign said they open at 9, but if you have a curbside order -- which I had -- simply get back to the email and click on the "I'm here" button. So I did. I parked in front of the door at the 1st curbside spot, and I watched as 4 or 5 different employees came and unlocked the door, looked around, and then went back inside and locked the door again. After about 30+ minutes of this crap, I called the number on the email and a male answered. I asked him if they were going to give me my prepaid order or not. He told me that they didn't open until 9. When I replied, I got their email at 8 saying that my order was ready and that I drove all the way down from Mililani to pick up the order. With that, he told me that it was an automated email... Why the hell don't they put a notice on their email that they don't open until 9 then if they are going to send out early automated emails? Better yet, why didn't he get off his lazy ass and hand me my order out the front door since they had already been opening the door for others??? *** NOTE *** Every time I have gone to this store in the past 15 years, there has been one thing after another. Their advertised office furniture specials are a good case in point -- regardless of the item being advertised in the paper, it is ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK. So, instead of discounting the price of a similar item, they bait and switch you to something nearly identical that costs a whole lot more money! In short, this so-called business is a sham to rip you off. I am calling their corporate office on Mondy and speaking with the CEO, Ravi Saligram, in Naperville, Illinois. I already have the number. 5 stars for customer service. I've been coming here for years for print material, office supplies, school supplies, and the rest. I always get great service. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I docked a star because despite being a company that supports other businesses their operations are very behind the times. If I want to order print and use my business discount card then I have to call in and pay for EVERY SINGLE ORDER over the phone. This is so tedious and inconvenient. I really wish they would get with it and allow me to have my card on file somehow. I'd also like to recommend that they adopt having small, private, sound proof, work stations so that business owners can bring a laptop and work here as needed. Wouldn't you want your biggest spenders to be hanging out where they can get there supplies and marketing material? It's just a thought. read more

If you call the number on their website (808) 877-9448, you get connected to a medical alert company that pitches you on buying their services. Really, when you decline and want to be put back to OfficeMax, they salesperson declines saying "you called here, not OfficeMax" What? Anyway, in order to get anywhere, you have to do an online chat. First you get a "virtual agent" that tries to sell you something else. When you finally get a real person to chat with - you'd better not try to look up something on another window (for me it was my already- opened gmail to find the date of a prior email from them to me). If you click away from the chat - IT WILL END. Then you have to start all over again. Really. So bad for such a big company. read more

I love that there is an Office Max in Waikele. It's in a convenient location and easy to get to. You can see it from the freeway which always reminds me when I need to purchase office supplies. The staff is very friendly and is very knowledgeable about the products they sell and where you can find it in the stores. The store it self is super clean and there is a restroom for their customers that look and smells like it's cleaned often. There are not many stores on our island that sell quality office supplies and Office Max does a pretty decent job with the products and services they provide. If you're a frugal person, it's best to scope the newspaper ads and then drive out to those different stores for the selected items on sale. At this spot, some items were really cheap compared to your average Target/Walmart. But if you think about it in the long run, you'd pretty much be paying the same if you got the supplies in one spot rather than wasting gas all around.. They have their own little parking lot which I haven't seen it being fully packed throughout my visits.. The only reason why I docked off a star is because I can't join their rewards program with the phone number I have had for the past 8 years. And the cashiers aren't even equipped to make that change. The guy asked if I had another number and i internally laughed. Epson sucked the big one and I've had two because I never read a post that told me the truth about the Epson vs HP printer odyssey. Hope this helps you- don't be tempted by the larger paper feeder with multiple paper drawers- you'll thank me or wish you had heeded my review later. I'm writing my review for both the store and the printing service. First of all, the staff in the store are super friendly and helps you find what you're looking for. All the staff that I've encountered are all knowledgeable of their products and also suggest a few products that might be better and money saving. As a student, saving money is my goal. The staff at the print service desk were super friendly and offered me options to make a binded book at a cheaper price. Since I was a member of NSNA, I used my discount card that cut my $70 purchase to ONLY $25. HUGE SAVINGS. If they haven't offered me the option to use my discount, I would've paid the full price. When I need something special printed, I come to OfficeMax Waikele. The staff working at the copy center are awesome! Kristin and Cheyanne gave me the best customer service and formatting assistance when I needed to print programs for my grandfathers funeral. I really appreciated how they went above and beyond to help me get the proof I wanted. They were absolutely the best! The cost was also very reasonable too at .73 cents to print each program in color on 65lb cardstock. My mom and I also print our Christmas mini calendars here too. Other services besides printing are copying, poster making, and shredding. I would highly recommend the copy center at Office Max Waikele!! read more

He always greets his customers with a smile, and you get the sense that he genuinely wants to help people and cares about them and their needs. I came here this morning to print & photocopy some documents because I needed resume paper. They had two different shades of resume paper. One was white and the other was an off white color. I think it was 14 cents extra for the paper. With the help of the printer center staff, I was in and out of this place within minutes. Took our laptop to Office Max to remove a virus on Friday. We received a phone call on Saturday to validate there is a virus (which we already knew there was one) and if we wanted it removed, we would need to come down that day and we will be charged $129 for the removal. We were promised our computer back on that same day. We did not receive any updates until the following Monday informing us whichever technician took in laptop on Friday did the paperwork incorrect and I would have to go back to Office Max to have my charge card credited back, then I would have to get recharged so they could receive a diagnostic code to remove the virus. So, going back for the third time, re signed paperwork and repaying for the same transaction, I was told my lap top will be worked on. We later received a call stating the virus was removed and we could pick up our laptop. Since we picked up our laptop neither my husband nor I had a purpose to go on our computer. I finally turned on my laptop only to be informed I STILL HAVE THE SAME VIRUS!! I called back Office Max Waikele only to be instructed that I need to bring in my laptop to be re evaluated. As I am speaking to the representative, he keeps cutting me off as I am speaking to him in conveying the message I am receiving on my laptop. Fuming in frustration, I asked to speak to a manager. Spoke to Matt who informed me they have a delay in their phone system and he was apologetic for the service I received. I informed him that I need to have my laptop fixed and I don't feel I should be charged another $129 since the virus was not completely removed. So now, we need to bring our laptop in AGAIN to have the virus removed. The trust I have in Office Max is no longer there! Not sure if it's the vendor whom they go through or the technician but the vote of confidence is tarnished with Office Max. On a positive note: Steve is great. I wanted to get an enlargement done and the short Japanese girl that worked behind the counters' response was "you can do it yourself" and pointed at the printers that they had. I haven't shopped here in years because my school account clerk said OfficeMax stores don't take open POs (I don't know why since it's like tax payer money I'm spending). So I happened to write a grant for my school and was awarded a little over $24K. The bulk of the funds went to pay for an Apple iPad cart so I had about $1K to spend on classroom supplies which is the most I've ever had to spend at any office supplies store. So one day during Winter Break, I took about 90 minutes to go up and down practically every aisle in the store to load my cart with everything from staples to big poster boards. Everything was easy to find and when I did a second round through the aisles I ended up finding more things to put in my cart which was already filled to the top and stuffed under cart. Best classroom supplies I found were these Post-It table top white board easels with chart paper. Must have for classroom and non-classroom teachers are those Sharpie gel pens and those giant Post-It note chart papers that stick to walls. As I shopped, a couple of workers asked me if I needed help finding anything. At the checkout, used my educator's discount card. What should have totaled up to a little over $1K, with my discount I got it down to $999. Literally felt like a "teacher rush" filling up my two big Ikea reusable bags with boatload of school supplies. If OfficeMax ever starts accepting open POs again or if I another grant award, I'm definitely going to spend it here again. read more

We went to Office Max the week before Mother's Day, on a Saturday, to beat the "Mother's Day" crowd...but of course, no one really thinks of getting their Mother's a great gift from Office Max and no one would think that O.M. closes down on a 7 PM on a Saturday night....well, at least here in Hawaii! Returned the following Mother's Day weekend and just our luck...it was pretty dead that weekend!! My husband is really practical, so for Mother's Day, he let me pick out any chair I wanted as my gift. What a great idea! My current computer chair was cracked, missing one armrest and the cushion had bottomed-out a long long time ago, so this was the perfect gift. My husband decided that he too, must have a chair at that moment. Now why didn't I THINK and say...honey, that's your Father's Day gift!! Doh!! Now I am Googling "iPads" for Father's Day when I could have gotten away with a simple chair that doesn't require monthly payments!!! One of the store managers came out with our order but found out he had the wrong item, so he had to go back into the stockroom to find the correct chair. No biggie, except he made us aware that someone screwed up! We paid promptly for our chairs and he helped to deliver it to our truck. Overall it was an average experience. The store was organized, most of the staff was cheerful (except on the Saturday where they were waving us out of the parking lot like flies to tell us "shoo! we are closed"). Prices there are good for the bigger items like chairs, but oddly high-priced for simple staple goods like note pads and pens. read more
