Love coming here just to browse. Found a pretty good selection of different things for DIY projects.

This store has the best customer service. The staff is always smiling and willing to help find what you're looking for. Located on the corner of Lauwiliwili Street - a small drive from Costco Kapolei - they have lots of parking. I love the Hawaiian Discovery furniture they have displayed in the front of the store - Locally made and beautiful craftsmanship. Plus the prices aren't too bad for solid wood patio furniture. read more

Took the long drive from Kailua to the only store on da Island that had the adapter I needed for my outdoor faucet. Upon arrival, I was impressed by the clean organized layout of the store and the great Aloha vibes from the employees here. "Claire" was the definitive 5-Star Standout on this visit! Her relentless search for the parts I needed for my sprinkler repair was way above and beyond my expectations. I was about to give up when she urged me to hold on, and came through with the successful resolution to my problem. I also roamed the pristine isles of this hardware haven and also found a modern kink resistant modern hose and a few planter boxes to finish up my honey over do list! At check out, I received a military discount as a veteran and that extra Aloha that made me feel like a valued customer! Hardware Hawaii lived up to " Customer First!" Five Fabulous Stars for *Service *Selection *Extra Effort *Savings & * Da Kine of Aloha that puts Customer's First! read more

Went there as they had a hard to find Simpson epoxy product, I think it's was the only one in the state of Hawaii, as White Cap didn't have it stocked. Staff very helpful and friendly. Happy to have found and purchased it. read more

Looking to replace your framed window screens? Well, look no further as I would highly recommend the screen shop at Hardware Hawaii Kapolei. They are highly recommended for your replacement framed window screen needs. Simply take your measurements before calling Clint to place your order. He'll provide you an estimated timeframe for pickup and cost to produce. Clint knows his stuff when it comes to making screens so if you have any questions... Just ask. One great thing about this shop is they use quality materials. Not the DYI kits you find at some hardware stores. Clint uses heavy-duty hardware to withstand Hawaii's harsh environment. Their cost is fairly reasonable, especially if you're needing to replace a bunch of framed window screens. read more

Recently I visited the Kailua and Kapolei Hardware Hawaii stores. Both stores the employees are great!! They greet you as they all pass by and ask if they can help you find what you are looking for and go out of their way to make sure you are happy! There was a fishing reel that I wanted and it appeared Kailua store sold the last one so I decided to head out to Kapolei the next day. There was a sales associate named Chels who greeted us as we entered the store and helped us. When she could not find the reel because they were all sold out, she asked Kiana to help us. Kiana told me that they do not have any but will check Kailua. I told Kiana that I was there yesterday and they don't have any. Kiana called Kailua and asked them to do a visual and Kailua found that there were 3. Kiana asked Kailua store to hold one for me to pick up. I went to Kailua and bought 2 reels when I was intending to buy only one. I also bought a folding cot at the Kapolei store. When I picked up my reels at customer service in Kailua, I saw that they had a zippo lighter for sale. My son told me his zippo lighter required a special lighter fluid. The nice women in customer service told me it doesn't really have to be Zippo and I could use Ronson so I bought a can of Ronson and a torch lighter at Customer Service. I am leaving this review because of the excellent customer service at both stores and the great hardworking employees that go out of their way to help you. They are professional, knowledgable, and friendly. Kiana and Chels really made me happy and this review is mainly for them and the customer sevice sales associates in customer service at the Kailua Store. read more

Standing at the customer service desk for 5 minutes not one employee asked to help me. Two cashiers and 2 behind the customer service desk. Everyone playing on their phones and the two behind the customer service desk were chit chatting. Terrible and unprofessional. read more

Always good. Find what I need and prices are better that Home Depot. Plus the people are always aloha and very nice.

They are always helpful and are very informative with helping with DIY projects. Helping the locals is a great plus.

2020.05.27 Just got quoted $180 per screen door. Material and design look a lot better then the doors I currently have. Honestly I was expecting around $100 a door. I'll give this a chance. Let's see if the screen shop stick with that cost overall. Seems very steep if you ask me but I'm sure an itemized receipt of the work will explain the cost. If not I'll just build them myself and drop the rating to 1 for the store. Mainly because I avoid Hardware Hawaii, there is no incentive. They are always the more expensive option on island. Honestly I don't know who comes here first when looking for building material. Home Depot, City Mill, Ace, and Lowe's always seem better priced discounts or not. Perhaps they will surprise me. DIYers shop around always. read more

Awesome store! A little off the beaten path, as it's kind of hidden in the back of Costco. Only found this place with the help of the Google Maps app (gosh, I don't know how drivers got anywhere before these apps were invented). First off, there's tons of parking here. Second, the workers are very friendly. I was greeted and asked if I needed help immediately. No having to walk around forever trying to flag down someone. They have generic "Hydro Flasks" here. They're not brand label Hydro Flasks, but they are built EXACTLY the same. The Hydro Flask accessories all fit the flasks here, and they're way cheaper. As in $24.99 for a 40 oz. Yes! Colors are a bit limited. They only had baby pink, a smoky navy blue, and black when I got here. I've literally carried my baby pink "Hydro Flask" around for one day today, and had several people ask where I got it as the brand name Hydro Flask doesn't have that shade of pink. ;) I found out they had them from an ad I got in the mail. A+ for prices and service. I'll definitely be back here! I also got a fold up roller cart for only $28 that I've wanted for ages, but it was always too expensive at other stores. read more

Hardware Hawaii - $24.99 generic 40 oz. Hydroflasks. Exactly the same as the brand label Hydroflasks. Sorry, heart sticker not included lol. - Building Supplies Near Me - Kapolei, Hawaii

Excellent customer service, they are with you every step of the way. Other hardware store representatives act like you are bothering them.

I support all local hardware stores, so I can have choices besides the big box stores from the mainland. Hardware Hawaii, City Mill, Pioneer Ace Hardware give me alternatives. That said, I wish all of them would really be interested in what I have to say because the big box stores do some things really nice, like not hassling me about returns, for example. Or give me attitude. Or checking on my ID when it's not necessary. To the local guys, get rid of the online ordering - you're clueless. Get rid of of your online websites - if you can't spend the money to get it right, better not to have it at all. I mean, try to use the search feature and you'll know what I mean. read more

Super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent selection of wood stains, furniture touch up pens and other wood products. They carry both the Minwax and Varathane products where as the big box stores each carry one but not the other. I just wish their prices were closer to the big box stores. They don't match prices. Still worth it if Home Depot Kapolei doesn't carry it ie: Minwax and you don't want to drive to Waikele or Pearl to Lowes. read more

There are stores that we go to to look for tools and other supplies for home projects. But whenever we go Hardware Hawai'i (Mapunapuna or Kapolei) we are CONSISTENTLY greeted with, "HI WELCOME!" We just went to the one in Kapolei (we live in town). Same greeting by the cashier. She asked how she could help and used her "Walkie Talkie" to request knowledgeable assistance. And he was! Since he didn't think they carried what we asked for, he checked the computer and found the correct name of the item we needed... they had it! I feel consistent caring / helpful customer service is key ... this defines the staff at Hardware Hawaii! Goal always achieved ... we either find / purchase or if they don't have it, they look it up and tell us which store has it! Thank you to all the Hardware Hawaii staff! read more

I went in ti Hardware Hawaii in Kapolei today at 1:30pm. The store was not busy. I was looking for a clerk to help me find thicker trimming cord for a grass trimmer that I purchased from this store about a year ago. Not one clerk greeted me with a hello or can I help you find something. I found the isle with the trimming cord spools, 3 clerks were standing by the isle, one staff with his hands folded accross his chest. Nobody smiling, looked like they hated their job or something. Talk about the worst customer service. The reality was nothing like their TV commercials promoting happy staff with great customer service, not even closebad shopping experience. These staffing need training. I will not go back to this store again. read more

Outstanding customer service. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and offered great advice. Plenty free parking If there is a price difference, it's worth the customer service you receive. I'm gonna day that these folks here are awesome. From the lady that helped match our siding ask the right questions to order all our wood and find the door we needed. There was no hesitation. This was our first visit to a Hardware Hawaii store and approaching it was a bit intimidating, at least to a neophyte like myself. The lumber yards surrounding this place are HUGE and orderly, with workers on foot and forklifts buzzing around. No wonder contractors love this place! But my 85 yo mother saw tarps on sale in one of their newspaper ads so here we were, prepared to be treated like nuisances for wanting to make a measly thirty dollar purchase. The store aisles were clearly marked so we had no problem finding the tarps, but couldn't put our hands on exactly what she wanted. I headed back to the main aisle to look for help, admonishing my fam to stay put no matter how long I took! But as soon as I poked my head out there was Harold, wearing a big smile, ready to assist. Of course he found what we wanted right away, and since it came in an unmarked, taped-up box he opened it so we could see what we were buying. Hubby started asking about fittings, pipes, and other stuff used with tarps. Harold went through a folder of said available stuff, showed hubby the pipes against the wall, and told hubby they would gladly go out to the parking lot and put together a canopy to his specifications to make sure he was buying exactly what he needed. This was two days ago and I'm still in shock. No way would we get that kind of service at a big box, especially for a relatively small sale. I hope I'm not getting Harold into trouble with this review because he spent so much time with us and we walked out with just that $30 sale. But we were impressed with his friendliness, knowledge, and patience and wanted to thank him and Hardware Hawaii for that. p.s. If you get a chance while in the store, look up at the overhead beams. Beautiful wood work! read more

I had purchased a few items from the Mapunapuna location on July 31st, 2021. Prior to picking up or inquiring about the item availability I had called the store. Tiffany answered the phone and was very pleasant to deal with. Her demeanor was very professional, helpful, and respectful. When I arrived to the store I noticed she was helping multiple customers at the same time. I asked her if she knew where the item was located and she remembered helping me over the phone. Unfortunately the item we purchased that day did not fit our needs. We misplaced our receipt and called the store again and they were able to pull up our purchase from last week. Tiffany was there to help us with the process on August 7th, 2021. Her service and professionalism throughout the process was very outstanding. Her help and genuine service was definitely unforgettable. I recommend this business because of the service we received and the representation the staff has shown for the company. read more

Great place! This hardware store is a great alternative to Home Depot and Lowe's rude and pretentious customer service reps. They always ignore me and act bothered when I dare ask for help. I have to say I've only shopped at Hardware Hawaii twice and both times I experienced above and beyond customer service. The first time was 15 years ago when they still had their Kaneohe location. I'm not sure if Yelp existed at that time. The second time was last Sunday July 18 at the Kapolei location. I decided to check this place out because I needed a part to secure the hose on my kitchen sink. I tried other local hardware stores and I wasn't able to find the part I need. I'm so glad I came here to shop at the Kapolei location. The salesperson, his name is Dutro, really super nice guy helped me find the part that I needed for my kitchen sink. Beyond helping me find the part, he took the time to talk to me and ask me what was wrong and what I was trying to fix. He took the time to listen and look for the exact part that I needed. Once I found the part he stuck around to see if I had more questions and he wanted to make sure that I found what I needed. I wish more stores treated their customers like Hardware Hawaii. I plan to patronize this business more often for my home repair needs. Mahalo Dutro and Mahlo Hardware Hawaii! read more

Went to several stores looking for the same bolt but no one had it. Sadly, Hardware Hawaii did not have it either. However instead of kicking me to the curb and telling me the name of another store that "may have it," they helped me find an alternative way to get the job done with other equipment. They even went out to my car and assisted me with the task I needed to complete. Kudos to them and their customer service. They definitely have my support for any future repairs and equipment that I need!! read more

This place is HUGE!!! As soon as you enter the parking lot, you'll find walls of lumber. I was sure glad to see it. My car drove itself into my neighbor's fence thus I needed to repair it asap! Home Depot didn't have the the size I needed, but luckily Hardware Hawaii did. The prices for their lumber were comparable to Home Depot. The second time I came, I needed to have some old paint shaken to paint over the repaired fence. I decided to go to Hardware Hawaii since I was closer to it. They were nice enough to shake it for me even though they knew I didn't originally purchase it there. I must say their customer service is top notch! Folks at Home Depot are there but not particularly customer service oriented. Here, big smiles and friendly faces are abundant! However I did take off a star due to the fact that they don't offer military discounts here like they do at Home Depot. However I'll still be back =) read more

Customer service was terrible! Cashier directed me to the lumber counter and saw 2 employees sitting at their desks just talking story. No greeting no nothing then the initial cashier that directed me to the lumber counter then a person came who had paperwork in his hand and was talking to the cash register but actually he was talking to me I believe. The service wasn't even close to what you see in their commercial. But I commend Hardware Hawaii for their diverse selection of employees. read more
