Even though the store was closing in 15 minutes he walked around the different isles and helped us pick out the right wood for our project. We don't carry that here. I needed a torque drill and was hoping they would have them here. City Mill (I know you read that review) doesn't carry the drills I wanted. A friend recommended this place based on quantity and quality. After a careful search, all I saw were impact drills. Asking the front desk, I was informed they don't order torque drills. But they have everything else. And they do. There's a wood working station, power tool, cleaning supplies, hand tools, hardware, and other small things. Overall three stars. A little out of the way from the main road makes it just a touch out of sight. But if you need tools but don't want the large warehouse style experience this is the place of the helpful hardware m......opps wrong jingle. Now excuse me, still need that drill. M read more

I got some great service from an employee named Lee last Friday.  Lee was helpful directing me towards the router bits I needed.  He was patient and knowledgeable.  The time he spent on the small sale encouraged me to buy some wishful thinking items like a Festool track saw and a Makita chop saw. Woodcraft is a wonderful place if you're looking for some of the top brands in woodworking and construction. I find myself particularly a Milwaukee junkie and i can easily go there for a fix! The prices matches their customer service! Excellent sales reps on the floor to help you with all of your needs. They are very knowledgeable and friendly! I see myself going there again soon. As for a tip- Parking is available in front of their store. I do recommend reversing into a stall which makes it easier to head out due to traffic which can get quite busy. read more

While they don't have as much selection compared to a store in the mainland we have to remember this is Hawaii. Recently I've been taking couple of college level woodworking classes and even though the shop does provide some tools I am slowly interested in getting my own. The workers here have been very helpful when I come in after class to show them a pic of something that I used in the shop that day to ask if they have it in stock for sale. My most recent purchases have been a pocket woodcarving knife and a pfeil chisel. [PARKING] Yes there is a handicap parking stall, along with several more parking stalls available. Great place to go if you're into woodworking: 1. HUGE selection of hand tools, electric tools and wood gadgets that you would not find in a Lowes or Home Depot. I guess they're a franchise of a national chain, so what this store doesn't stock, you can get in their extensive catalog. 2. EASY to find. Driving around Kalihi (any time of day) stinks. It stinks even more if you're lost / looking for a business. Woodcraft is located on the end of block, with a giant sign on the front of the building. 3. AWESOME customer service. Love this place. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything you need for woodworking and more: large selection of tools, beautiful pieces of various types of wood, wood treating products, etc. . . . They also often have rare and hard to find products. My only gripe is that sometimes the ads are misleading. For instance, recently they mailed out a post card that had in big letters "FESTOOL EVENT" and about 2 lines down in big letters "10% BAG EVENT" , which was an event where you fill a bag provided by them with items and get 10% off of everything in the bag. In small print at the very bottom "Festool excluded". Kind of misleading, fellas. I know, my bad - I didn't read the small print, but maybe not put those 2 things in big letters within 2 lines of each other. They often have ads like this, so just a word of advice, be sure to read the small print because Festool and Fein are rarely discounted. read more

First of all let me set the record straight: I am a furniture maker and have been a professional woodworker for over twenty years. If you are someone who is accustomed to shopping at the big box stores because you want to save money and good enough is just fine, this is NOT your store. However, if you are a perfectionist and demand the best tools on this island for the money, you go to Woodcraft. Before Woodcraft came to town, I purchased my tools online from the mainland. They came in a crate to my door, this included my big Laguna saws, which weigh over 500 pounds. It was up to me to get them assembled and running. This was no small task. When I bought a new Laguna bandsaw from Woodcraft, they brought it into my shop. I simply had some minor assembly to address. It was up and running the same day. Awesome! They are not the best for repairing tools, as the extensive inventory would make this task a different sort of store. Honestly, if you are a professional woodworker, you know how to work on equipment and you have contacts. Oh and by the way, this isn't Home Depot either. If you buy a tool and maybe use it slightly and then think you can get rid of it with an easy return, don't be ridiculous. Home Depot pays practically nothing for the junk they sell you and don't mind taking that crap off your hands so you think they have great service. Haha, what a joke! Woodcraft sells tools to professionals, who appreciate a resource for quality material on this island. If you go online to Rockler, Packard Woodworks, Klingspor's Woodworking Shop, Woodworker's Supply, etc. your cost will be the same price, but you must wait until it comes in the mail. Woodcraft is a great store. If you are a serious woodworker, this is your place to shop. read more

Although we visit here consistently, the customer service here is terrible. Their staff is very selective in who they greet and assist. On many occasions I have walked in, they walk right pass me and greet the person who walks in after... as a regular customer, they show no interest in helping or assisting you in hopes you will continue to be a returning customer. The specialty wood working tool I just purchased is replacing one that deserves a rest, it has fashioned over 300 knife handles. I am so glad to have Woodcraft as resource for tools. A definite no. Woodcraft is listed as a factory authorized repair center for Makita, but don't even think of getting your warranty honored here. I even enlisted the help of Makita; Makita's customer service couldn't have been better. The national office called the store; the local rep called the store. However, no one could convince Woodcraft that they had any obligation to the manufacturer to honor warranties. To top it off, the staff at Woodcraft had the nerve to go off on a tangent about these poor local vendors expected to service things not bought directly from their store. GIVE ME A BREAK! Might one suggest that they shouldn't be an authorized service center? OR, that maybe if they just did things right, like adding value to the purchase through good customer service and knowledge, they'd at least give these big box retailers a run for their money, right? I have a koa bedframe that i need to add some wood to and wanted to add something for contrast like mango or guava, yup they got um and whole lots more, most woods sold by the board foot, they also have blocks, stumps and large slabs, ever since Winkler closed down their shop here if you want koa or other exotics you have to order them from the big island or you can go to woodcraft. Also the employees here all seem to have a good working knowledge of the tools they sell and they also have classes there for woodworking read more

DO NOT USE THE SERVICE DEPT AT WOODCRAFT!!! While this store is convienent and offers a great deal to the local woodworker, I find their prices to be far higher than acceptable. Almost everything in the store is 10% over list and I usually buy the same items on Amazon for far less with free shipping. In spite of this, I have occasionally needed something quick and will elect to go to Woodcraft and pay the higher prices. On the other hand, my experience with their service department has been nothing short of criminal. The guy working in the shop will run up the charges and I strongly advise looking at other options. The sales team in the store are quite good but be advised, the service department will not be a good experience. read more

First of all, looking through some of these reviews for Woodcraft, OMG, there must be some 'picky' - 'Complainy' people, Woodcraft's got to deal with. For woodworking tools, specialty tools, and exotic woods, this is the place! There going to have 95% of what your looking for and if you look around a little bit, I'm sure you'll find a tool you'll like you didn't know existed. As for price.... get used to it, everything is expensive in Hawaii. Power tools are heavy and cost more to ship to our precious Island, so ofcorse for a business to stay in business, it's gonna pass that cost on to you. You're paying for convenience of being able to walk out of the store with it. Order any drill press online, and see what you pay in shipping cost....? The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I am appalled at the service I received at woodcraft. I walked in to take a look at the Milwaukee tool kit sale. I saw the Milwaukee circular saw with a battery and charger for $269 the sale was $100 off that marked price. I took the item to the sales desk and asked if the price was correct. The sales associate told me it was and I proceeded to buy the item. Then a very heavy set guy came out of the back and stoped the transaction and said that the item was marked wrong, and he would not honor the deal that was posted. This is the most blatant form of false advertisement in all my years of buying tools regardless of where it was from. The marked price is always supposed to be honored and if it was wrong that's their fault not the paying customer read more

Best woodworking tools in Hawaii. Very friendly and helpful staff. Missing parts? Staff brought in handle for my old delta ts fence that I broke. Excellent portable power tools from top of the line Festools to the regular stuff. Then there are the table saws, band saws, jointers, etc. They have the largest bandsaw and sander I have ever seen. They have a ton of hand tools - chisels, planes, hammers, saws, etc. Very friendly people and the owner is a master carpenter. read more

B has recently been getting into woodworking (desk, bed frame, etc.) and wanted to buy a sander machine thingie (shows my total lack of knowledge, eh?), so we headed over to Woodcraft. Although it's a nationwide company, the service sure felt like it's a small family-run business. The employees (not only the sales people, but even the back of the house warehouse guys) were knowledgeable and willing to answer all kine any kine questions we had. They have a vast variety of all kinds of wood related items. Saw blades, pieces of beautiful wood (koa, purple, etc.), glue, gloss, sand paper, books, machines of all kinds, etc. We also heard that they have classes for a fee (box making, pen making, etc.) that are taught by local experts, and at the end of the class you take home whatever you make. These people have poor customer service, and they profile people. I was with a friend and stopped by to see what they had to offer. He doesn't do woodworking, I do. We were walking around and a guy walks right pass me, and ask my friend if he needed help. He said no, he was just looking around. A little while later the guy offered a catalog to my friend, which he took. i asked him where he got it, and he told me the guy gave it to him. I went and asked for a catalog, and he lies to me. He told me they don't give out catalogs. I told him that he just gave o to my friend. the guy was stuck. Caught lying to a customer. Friend came by to see what the problem was. Asked him about the catalog. He told the guy he gave it to him. A fat lady came out of someplace, and asked if we needed help. I told he what happened, and she lied to the both of us.
