When you get crafty many times I head to the hardware store as what I call beginner tools aren't just enough like I have my Dremel to drill, PVC pipes to make a photo backdrop, chains for a makeshift lock as being creative not only does saves you money but solves issues in the simplest ways that works. Today it was a simple just some acetone as I wanted to wipe off paint and the basic store bought stuff just won't do it and as small as this shop seems to be they do have it all and was very easy to find than the larger ones as it literally took me a minute to find it and a minute to reach to the register without a wait and was on my way faster than taking the needed pics to show off this great Kailua location. If needed staff is very easy to find here but as I knew exactly what I wanted it was okay and parking in the back is spacious with short walks to the automatic doors is just nice to have a quick spot to find exactly what you need without being lost as I finished my project so easily. My favorite local Hardware Store where "Customer First" is more than their saying! It's in their doing! Customer Service is their passion! I always feel at home as I roam the aisles. There is always a customer service Rep nearby to assist if you end up wandering the aisles with a bewildered look on your face. lol! Honestly the Reps here are really friendly and always at the ready to assist in your honey due list or with answers for those projects that need a little more planning. Not to feed any stereotypes but I want to start out by stating I am a woman without much experience in fixing or building things. On top of that, English is not my first language which makes communication about repairs and maintenance stuff particularly difficult. I came here to get a spigot extender but didn't really know what the word was in English. I described what I needed in many words and gestures to the nice and patient employee and he immediately guided me to the correct aisle. We had a friendly conversation and I was grateful that someone actually cared to get this right for me. On a different occasion, I purchased a wrong-sized item for my husband and the return was quick, no questions asked. Thank you! Hardware Hawaii also has some good prices in their garden department. I have come across several sweet deals for herbs like thyme, cilantro, and parsley. Sometimes their herbs look a little outgrown or tired but nothing a green thumb can't fix for the bargain you get. Good to have a hardware store in Kailua better than having to go to Honolulu to pickup hardware supplies in the middle of a project on the windward side! They really have almost everything needed for any home project from paint to house cleaning need. Sometimes it hard to get help with questions but once you get someone they are helpful. It's great to have a well-stocked hardware store nearby so we don't have to drive to Honolulu to get things we need. It was my first time here since I was in the area for work and needed to grab a few things before. The store was very organized and even when I couldn't find something on my own the staff was very attentive and helpful! Even the customers shopping in the store were helping me too when I couldn't decide on what to get for my bathroom. Everyone was so nice and helpful it makes me want to go back for all of my home renovation needs instead of the stores closer to home. It was a quick, friendly, and not stressful shopping experience. I was in Kailua running an errand and figured I would stop by to pick up a couple plumbing needs. It was my first time in the store. I've seen many commercials on TV and I guess it triggered something in my head. Immediately upon walking in I was greeted. I always appreciate that. I noticed there were many employees stocking and offering to help. Good service here. The store seems relatively clean. The shelves are full of hardware things. I had to ask for help finding some plumbing solder and they pointed me in the right direction. The prices are a little higher than some bigger store alternatives, but the convenience was nice. The selections of things I needed was good. Overall I would come back here and even consider driving out to Kailua if I couldn't find a part available closer to my home. read more

Over multiple visits to this store, I really wish the experience didn't vary from either nice helpful employees to rude employees who cannot afford even a minute of being actually helpful and nice. If people take the time to support local, then be happy and actually helpful. Just because someone isn't spending big money each visit, doesn't mean you be like "ugh, that's it? You bothering me for this?". Or they act presumptuous trying to give an answer to simple Qs then end up being wrong and they pretend like they weren't wrong but the customers asked the wrong Qs. Having Hardware Hawaii in Kailua is a lifesaver! It's wonderful being able to get everything I need for emergency repairs or DIY projects right here in K-town. It's only a 10 min. drive away from my house which is so convenient. Especially because I always seem to forget something vital that I need. This store is so frustrating. If you're in Kailua and don't want to drive, this is the only game in town. Service is bad. Prices are bad. They do have at least one product cheaper than Home Depot: 511 Aerosol Grout Sealer. $2-$3 cheaper than HD. BUT man the service sucks. Ask one person where the sealer is and he said talk to the pain dept. Talk to someone in Paint Dept and they said, aisle 18 or 20. Didn't see it. Walked back to paint dept and told them to walk me to it. Product was out of stock and was on an end cap. That's why I didn't see it. Hey guys next time maybe have it your policy to actually walk the customer to the project. There's so many workers here that shouldn't be a problem. Prices are crazy here. You can spend $17 for a tube of silicone caulking here. No joke. read more

Buying lengths of wire at Hardware Hawaii is a total rip off. They charge $1.21 per foot but if you buy the entire roll it's only $.22 per foot. Charging a little more for a cut length is reasonable but $1.00 a foot more is ridiculous read more

Fantastic old-school hardware store with extensive lumber selection. Unlike most chain stores, this business stocks many items made in the USA... I've decided to abstain from purchasing any products or goods made in China so I deeply appreciated it when on a recent visit here, I found everything I needed with the added benefit that everything I bought was made locally or on the US mainland. I've been frequenting Hardware Hawaii for the past two years. The problem-solving help I have received while shopping there has been envaluable. For example, I went their to buy a disposal. There was a selection from 1/3 horsepower on up. Lami, the guy who mans their plumbing department, not only recommended the 1/2 HP unit, he took one out of it box and showed me how to install it! I just had to compliment the garden area (rear of the store). The plants are always in excellent condition and reasonably priced. Just picked up a pair of Boston fern in hanging baskets, healthier and $5 less per plant than Koolau Farmers. Also noted that their supply of planters are priced at a value. Love the fact that you can easily find a knowledgeable person to assist you at all times. read more

They don't have an idea about their discounts. It seems they work on the fly. I've been in several times and they keep changing. All I want is mostly the broken bags on the side. At one time the manager looked at me and increased the discount by 10%. Go figure? read more
