Growing up I pretty much recall people shopping at City Mill when it came to pick up items for home improvement and gardening. But step in powerhouses of Home Depot that opened in Iwilei in 1999 and then Lowe's Home Improvement (LHI), that took over Eagle Hardware and Garden in Waikele and then opened this location in Iwilei in 2011. LHI originated in North Carolina in 1921 and has expanded to over 1700 locations nationwide. They also tested their home improvement business in neighboring Canada and Mexico but currently only focuses in the United States. I've been to LHI a handful of times and although I'm not a professional, I've noticed the pricing here is more economical than their rivals but lacks in the customer service. It can be very challenging at times so reach out to a sales associate for assistance. I do like there's also ample parking and multiple entries to LHI as Nimitz Highway can be congested during peak hours so it's better to enter here from the back entrance. I recently came here to shop for refrigerators as they also carry a large selection. Luckily my BIL accompanied me and he's quite knowledgeable with the different features and various companies. There were some questions we had and unfortunately it wasn't easy to flag down an associate. We did come across several not to far away but they were either huddled up socializing or not available as this guy was busy with his cellphone. Although LHI had a model that I was interested in as well as less expensive for an identical model, i ended up selecting a refrigerator with their main competitor. It doesn't hurt to do due diligence. LHI is a great option for those who are knowledgeable in this field and don't need much service. But for your everyday average Joe, customer service could be better here to address questions and concerns to home improvement. read more

I visited Lowe's today to exchange a broken Kobalt 3/8" ratchet because they tout this lifetime warranty... Go to customer service, you have to go select it and bring it back for exchange. Of course, there is none in stock. Have it in stock? Nope... Can you order it for me? Nope.. if it's not in stock there is nothing we can do.... WHAT? What about the warranty? Sorry, nothing we can do... So much for the Lifetime Warranty! In my years of visiting this Lowe's, this was the worst experience I have had! Rude, short, and not helpful!! What a disappointment! Good overall selection on fixer upper supplies but not so much in stock for the blinds I am looking for. Friendly Customer Service by "RED" who also guided me to where I needed to go in this vast layout of isles for miles it seems. A.I. helpful during self check out with Lowe's APP. 10% Military Discount also a plus. Glad to still have humans around to smile, ask questions with heart felt answers. I will be back but their competition is giving them a run for my money. Shopping the clearance items for my shelving project did give me a great value in cost savings today. Thinking outside the box... As I was searching for a solution at work since our storage unit was missing a lock and after much searching and was just blown by the prices of the locks besides being limited availability for the type we were searching for which was easy to do so online not just for availability but types and price comparison as well. I decided to give Lowe's a visit and as I went to where the locks are was very disappointed that there wasn't anything that was worth investing in as I needed something just to simply secure, but as I was leaving noticed in the same aisle various chains...hmmm...with a minimum of a 12" I decided on a simple chain which was $1.28 per foot. With the help of a staff the chain was cut to size and at less than $2 I got it literally secured ;) Thank you! read more

I placed an order for "small kine tingz" at Lowe's in Iwilei. Nothing major. Just a few packs of magnetic tape for a project I'm working on. It was a pretty decent price. I went to pick up at an off peak time since I know they can get pretty busy. I followed their procedure as stated on their app and the signage in the designated parking stalls. I waited... and waited... then, walked inside! Followed the in store procedures... and waited... and waited... TBH I could've just walked inside, grabbed what I needed, paid and left faster than utilizing the p/u feature. I don't think I'll be using it again for this location. Had a frustrating experience with a manager at the Honolulu Lowe's on Pacific St. I tried to return an unopened portable air conditioner. Lowe's policy clearly states major appliances have a 48-hour return window if opened; the EXCEPTION states, if it is completely UNOPENED, it can be returned within 30 days. The unit I returned was unopened and well within 30 days. It was fully eligible for a refund. This policy is in writing, on a GIANT banner behind the returns desk, and on the Lowe's website. The store manager completely misunderstood the return policy-- which I cannot mention enough was printed on a giant poster directly behind her --and flat-out refused to read it when I pointed to it. She told me it's different if I look on the website. It wasn't. I tried to show her the webpage but she refused to read that as well. She said she knew the rule book backward and forward. After a long, painful argument, she finally relented but told me she "didn't need to give me a refund but will do it anyway. " When I told her I'd write to corporate she said "You can write to whoever you want." I contacted Lowe's Executive Support, and they emailed me back confirming the manager was completely wrong, didn't understand store policy, and that they are addressing it with her. Incredible lack of customer service and basic training at the management level for this Iwilei location. Check your receipts, UNDERSTAND THE REFUND POLICY, and stand your ground here when speaking to the confidently incorrect. Only reason I went there was the other home center didn't have the item we're looking for. We purchased the item and thought about the past issues I'd better confirm but since they had the item in stock I decided it wasn't really would be an issue. I wish I confirmed that delivery must be on this date. Similar to prior deliveries they always say it's on island on the confirmed date and need to reschedule to a later date. Now the delivery record 3-3!!! Never on the chosen date. I'm also retired military and didn't know it doesn't apply to building supplies or high priced items. I still give this place 5 stars. We've been renovating an old 1950's house off and on since 2013 and Lowe's has consistently come thru for us. The latest solid they did us was when Best Buy (a-hem) sold us an oven on Black Friday and then delivered 2 broken ovens and I still had no oven from them by the first week of January, I said enough is enough, give me a refund and I'm going to get it from Lowe's. I had a working oven delivered the very next day from Lowe's! Their delivery team were professional and super careful. We have a lot of stairs and tight spaces in our tiny house and all was smooth. Although when I went in the other day, when I was in the area, the lady at the help desk was helpful. Never got her name, but she made a note, and did tell me to call back in a few days regarding what she was trying to help me with. This is not our first negative experience with the Lowe's Honolulu store, but this was easily the final straw. We ordered a new washer for curbside pickup. I took a half day off work specifically to drive into town to pick it up. When I arrived, I was left sitting at curbside for 10 minutes with absolutely no response from anyone. Eventually, an employee came out and used a lift to load the washer into my truck. When we got the washer home and unboxed it, we discovered that it was severely damaged and smashed. It was very obvious that it had either been dropped from a significant height or mishandled with a forklift--despite the fact that there were multiple warnings all over the box specifically stating not to use a forklift. I immediately tried calling the Honolulu Lowe's at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. I called twice and let the phone ring for approximately 15 minutes each time, and no one answered. Not a single person picked up. The next morning, I called Lowe's corporate customer service. They eventually connected me back to the Honolulu store, where Shaddell answered. She told me I needed to drive the damaged washer back to the store to exchange it. I explained that I had already taken time off work to pick up the original washer and that I did not think it was reasonable to require me to load a damaged appliance, drive it back to the store, and take additional time off work because Lowe's had delivered a damaged product. I asked that Lowe's pick it up and deliver a replacement. Shaddell told me that a manager would call me back to arrange this. That was five days ago. No one ever called. I also mentioned during the recorded call with corporate that I had spent approximately 30 minutes trying to reach the store the previous afternoon. Shaddell's response was essentially, "Yeah, when we have customers here, we don't answer the phone." Excuse me? That is an absolutely unacceptable response from a customer service representative. Customers should not have to choose between standing in a store and being able to reach the store by phone. If the store routinely doesn't answer its phones when customers are present, that is a serious management and staffing problem--not an excuse. After receiving no follow-up whatsoever from the manager or the store, my husband ultimately had to take time off work and drive the broken washer back to Honolulu himself. Once there, he was told it would take approximately 40 minutes to get the replacement. Instead, he waited two hours. And then, unbelievably, the replacement washer was also dented. At this point, this goes well beyond a single bad experience. It reflects a pattern of poor customer service, poor communication, lack of accountability, and apparently inadequate handling of merchandise. We have primarily continued shopping at Lowe's because we have the Lowe's credit card and receive 5% off. That 5% is no longer remotely enough of an incentive to put up with this level of service. We will be taking our business to Home Depot from now on. Lowe's Honolulu needs to seriously address its customer service, management, phone responsiveness, and merchandise-handling practices. I purchased a $22 Touch Toe Bath Drain Stopper from Lowe's for my bathtub. After trying to yank the old stopper assembly my tub was deemed to be irreparable, so I hired a contractor and started a total bathroom renovation and had the tub replaced for a walk-in shower. After the job was done, I tried returning the bath drain stopper which was unopened and in its original packing. The clerk at the Lowe's in Honolulu said that it's past the return date and that she couldn't credit back my credit card. I said that's fine, but can you issue me a store credit and I'll use it on something else. She said we don't do that. I then asked to see her manager and as I waited about 15 minutes for the manager the clerk walks away from the returns desk leaving about 5 people behind me. When that manager showed up, she told me basically the same thing. I told her that this is a ridiculous policy and said that I basically have a brand new drain stopper paper weight since I can't use it anymore. I don't care about the $22, I just don't want to throw away a perfectly good drain plug. I could have just left it at Lowe's but I didn't want to give them the opportunity to sell the same item twice. During my bathroom renovation me and my contractor purchased a lot of items from Lowe's. I'm planning on renovating my kitchen next and painting the entire interior of my house. - Poor customer service, unhelpful staff I only go to Lowe's when I absolutely have to, and experiences like today remind me why. Every time I ask for help, I'm told the associate for that department is on lunch, sick, or unavailable. There's rarely a smile, and even less effort. Today I asked for help locating a product. I could clearly see the item on the associate's handheld device, but he seemed unfamiliar with what I was even looking for. When I asked where it was located, he oddly said "Israel," which made no sense at all. He then said he was checking whether the product actually does what I said it cleans, instead of helping me find it. He eventually guessed it might be on Aisle 11. I went there myself and found it immediately. As I walked away, I saw him ask a coworker to help him look for the same item -- after I had already found it on my own. The associate's name was Marc. This wasn't helpful service, just wasted time. If Lowe's wants customers to keep coming back, basic product knowledge, accuracy, and a willingness to actually assist would go a long way. read more

I was trying to figure out a solution when Ceasar immediately came up with a creative idea to build a flagpole stand using PVC pipes and joints with all in white color at super reasonable value. This review is for their in-store Kids Workshop. I made a reservation for the 10:00 am build. I didn't know where to go so I asked. They sent us to lumber. There was no one in lumber. Finally someone was like, oh it's at the front. I. WAS. JUST. THERE. The check in process took long because their system couldn't pull up who made a reservation and who didn't. On top of that, there was no area for the kids to build the project. They just handed us the kit and expected us to make it at home with our kids. Ummm... what if I don't have the right tools at home? Home Depot's Kids Workshop is 100% better. They are ready for you, they give you the space and tools to build. They have a paint section where you can paint and on top of that, they had a small play area set up for the kids! read more

I ordered a smoker grill on July 2nd. It was scheduled to be delivered on July 25th. On July 23rd I received a call from a Lowes associate saying the dock is backed up unloading containers, so the delivery will be in three weeks. I have friends that work at the docks, and nothing is backed up three weeks. If you need something shipped in from Lowes, just make sure it's ok for it to show up when it's convenient for them. The company promises a delivery date when there is NO ITEM TO DELIVER. Lost time, lost a day of work, lost respect for this company! 02/14/25- Went to Lowe's to obtain a complete refund. The clerk never once asked why or if there was a problem. That's because they do this to consumers all the time. I made a purchase there of several items little over 12k. When I went to pick up, some items were cancelled for no reason orher than the clerks didn't want to pick up! I had to drive there & re-order, but found out later they over charged $500 for 1 item, another 200 more for another.. I tried calling (800)528-9370 several times; each time over 20 min on IGNORE.. their AI answering is a serious waste of time; (just prompts you to go online WOW!) I tried to contact my rep there, again their system doesn't forward to extensions! I tried asking for store manager, same crap! On hold for SIXTH time today! When they do make the mistake & answer, you hear hello, hello, then they hang up or put the phone back on hold right when I'm still speaking to them: they're either totally careless, or haven't realized yet in spite of all the bad reports that THEIR phone is MALFUNCTIONING! BTW, I have mentioned that to them personally several times.. Deaf ears! This is beyond UNBELIEVABLE! Checking out in the Ewa end by the lumber (pro checkout) is slow and arduous because when this wahine is there sitting on her stool, taking her sweet time, talking story or on her phone scrolling with a customer, the line gets long and guys are getting impatient to get out of there. I'm not surprised that they have such a horrible rating. Tried to get help with some very heavy items at least 50+ pounds, which were stacked high up on the rack. The Lowe's garden section is UNREAL All of the plants you could want- perfect for starting my vegetable garden. I bought zucchini, cilantro, mint, Okinawa sweet potato, arugula, and pepper plants. An amazing sale section too- I got a Nepenthes (carnivorous pitcher plant) for less than $5. All the staff was extremely helpful too- kind and willing to help me find what I'm looking for. I've shopped at Lowe's for many years, spending thousands of dollars on appliances, building supplies, et al. However, that may change based upon my last two experiences with mail order. I will limit this review to my last order ... On March 1 (Saturday evening), I placed an order for two Moen towel bars and two Moen hooks as my existing units were corroded from the salt air endemic with living 200 yards from the ocean. Surprisingly, I received a text stating that my order would be arriving on March 2 (Sunday). Sounds great, except I used my work address and my building is closed on the weekend. I figured I'd get text later stating that my order couldn't be delivered. I was surprised to receive a text stating that my order had been delivered. What? Where? I asked a friend who has a store across the street from my office to check the front and side doors. Nothing. I then noticed that the delivery person took a picture of my order. I could not figure out where this was; there were four boxes sitting on carpet outside a door. I asked my friend and she said "That's my building!" I asked her to check with her building's security ... Sure enough, they let a delivery person into the building. She found my order sitting on the 7th floor. How did the delivery person mix up "45 N King St, 7th floor" with "60 N Nimitz Hwy, 7th floor"? It's unfathomable. Lowe's sent a text asking for feedback. The limitations of their system prevented me from being as detailed as I would have liked but I tried to get my point across. Did I receive a reply or acknowledgement from them? No, I did not! Bought a plant yesterday. When I went to plant it, found the root system loaded with an ant colony. Little red ants? Who knows, but when I tried to call and report the problem, getting a human to speak with was a total waste of my time. Bagged the plant and sprayed insecticide. Arrogant customer service sales personnel alleged that operating instructions are not included with appliance units purchased. I'm honestly not sure what's going on with this store. Are they still operating normally in Hawaii? I called the store 6-7 times regarding a delivery and let the phone ring for 5-10 minutes each time between the associate line and delivery team with no answer. Earlier today the third-party delivery company called saying they were on the way, then texted that they had arrived. However, no one called to be buzzed up and no one called my phone again, so the delivery never actually happened. Now they saying no one was home, when I was home. I called the driver back 10 times and he never answered once, left VM..nothing While typing this review I made call number 8, and it rang for about 8 minutes before someone finally answered. She shared they have no way to communicate or get communication from J&S Express. Who did not answer any return calls. This store clearly needs better customer service coverage and apps, and coordination with their delivery partners. I'm not trying to complain for the sake of complaining, but this kind of breakdown shouldn't happen with something as basic as a delivery feom a national company. Now im being told the store canceled my order, these guys are a mess. If i can give a zero star i so would. If you live in HAWAI'I and youre getting a washer and dryer DONT get warranty! I've been having a issue with Lowes warranty department and the service provider(aloha assist) because to them my washer and dryer is sitting outside. This issue has been going on since FEB 2026 and still ongoing. Both companies keep blaming each other for the denial and I've made going on 6 claims to get my appliances fixed. I don't understand whats the point of having warranty when it just keeps getting denied. So heads up to everyone out there if its not directly in your house you will keep getting the run around like me. Im still waiting for a supervisor to call me back from both Lowes and Aloha Assist for my recent denial today may 28 2026. But shout out to the aunty at Lowes customer service waikele for being understanding and calling warranty department and questioning them too but she got hung up on also. Do better LOWES! read more

I had to go to Lowes since they had a machine I wanted and they are the only ones carrying this brand in hawaii. When I walked in and found the item I was looking for, it was locked in one of the cages. Just then one of the workers was passing the aisle in a forklift and I asked how I could get help. To my surprise, Glenn who works in Garden stopped the lift and got out to explain the features of the tool. He was friendly, humorous and super helpful. This was definitely a good visit and I ended up getting what I wanted and even with a discount for opening a Lowes charge account. read more
