Shout out to Kayli for all her help last night. So the other day I was cooking dinner for my dad & when I went into his refrigerator, I noticed it didn't seem that cold? But when I checked the freezer, it appeared that it was working properly. I asked my dad if the fridge was okay? And he in turned told me that it was, so I really didn't think anything more of it. Several days later, after shopping for some food for my dad, when I was putting some produce items into his fridge, I again asked him if the refrigerator was okay, then he finally told me "maybe something was wrong". I rechecked the settings on the refrigerator, rechecked the vents from the freezer, seals on the door, and everything appeared to be okay. Being that my dad's refrigerator was 11 years old (I remembered buying it in 2014), I guess it was time for a replacement. Luckily for me, November has rolled around and since a lot of folks will be feasting towards the end of November, "Black Friday" sales have started & Home Depot has their big "Black Friday" sales event for the entire month of November. At first I went to Best Buy, because I purchased the refrigerator & stove from there back in 2014, but upon arriving there, I couldn't get any help so I left the store & headed across the street to Home Depot. Upon lookin' at the fridges, I found a fridge that would fit in my dad's kitchen space & looked for a clerk to help me. Luckily I came across Kayli, and she was so helpful in processing my transaction. Timing was just right for me, as the delivery of the refrigerator was FREE due to the Black Friday sales, and I only had to pay $50 bucks for the removal of the old refrigerator. The refrigerator I purchased was in stock, so Saturday they will deliver it to our house. How's that for great service???!!! Much MAHALO Home Depot, and Kayli! My Toddler Participates in the Kids Workshops held every first Saturday of the Month. The event is 100% free. Kids receive a custom orange apron, project kit, certificate, and commemorative pin. It's a fantastic way to teach fine motor skills and encouraging creativity. The events run until supplies last during 9 AM-12 PM. Prepare for a Mess! The painting portion is very fun but can get a bit messy, so dress your child in clothes you don't mind getting paint on. Super busy big box hardware store. Over the past year I have spent a ton of money in this place. Everything from heavy duty stuff like fence supplies, concrete, lumber, and furniture (ordered online), to household stuff like light fixtures, pliers, and sponges. As I am currenyly doing some bathroom and kitchen improvements, I recently visited the plumbing and fauces sections here. I had all my parts picked out from the website, but was assisted by a plumbing associate named Ken. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He helped me find the items I needed, gave me advice on my washer hoses, and helped with cutting some PVC pipe. Home Depot is lucky to have Ken because he is awesome! This store also offers buy online, and pick up in store, which is very convenient. I like this location because it is close to my home, but low key, I prefer the Mapunapuna location because it's less crazy busy. read more

HD, UNLIKE Lowe's, has looked at their issues and FIXED them. Lowe's still has $$ delivery charges while HD? They are hiring private folks to deliver I their personal vehicles--SAME DAY, and CHEAP! I got all my. garden soils, dollies etc delivered that afternoon when ordered that morning for UNDER $10 delivery charge? It was a busy Sunday with many people needing supplies for their projects! The parking lot was filled - and it's easy to get irritated after one signals for a space, shows patience, and watches out for pedestrians. Granted, others may not be as observant, or as patient, so do take it in stride and just breathe. (I saw a FB group with examples of how Hawai'i people can't park or drive (?) - so another strategy might be to just chuckle?). It's a bit of a wait to enter the lot, and the same to exit. (Map your exit - as there is a right turn only at the makai exit, and a left turn joining all the Costco shoppers on the mauka exit, which also is busy due to the stoplight.) Big plus - it was nice to be greeted by employees at the front door - which is also helpful to get directions to the section you need! (Without any hesitation, I was advised, "That's on aisle 15!"). The selection is huge for the majority of projects, and we were looking for only two things: a new mailbox (a truck flattened mine, including the cemented pole), and something to prevent flooding at my front door during heavy rains like we just experienced. The mailbox selection was pretty good, and on a slightly higher price range than other stores. The quality of options were definitely high! (I took some photos to send to our handyman.). They have a wall mounted section, apartment complex options, plastic and metal, regular and locked styles to choose from. The options to protect door jambs and the like were plentiful, and included foam, rubber, and metal protections, including those for marine use. We met another homeowner who was purchasing more than one - so we were fortunate to get tips from her - they had bought one the day before, installed it, and with satisfactory results, came to get more for the rest of their house doors. Great tips! She needed employee and ladder assistance, so we had time to chat:). Thank you for your help! Checkout is self directed, and if you are a Home Depot credit card holder, you have 25% discounts, according to the staff member assisting the self checkout kiosks. (Thank you for your help as well!) It was quick service out, and don't laugh, there were still parking lot issues just to exit. (Amazing how people won't let you exit the stall, and another to take your space, without trying to bypass them..., which then causes everyone to be stuck - kind of like that children's car game?). Again, just laugh and breathe, it's a parking lot;) Although I didn't frequent the garden section this time, I want to share that they have a wonderful selection there as well. Last year, I bought a tray of succulents to give as church teachers' gifts, which turned out to be a lovely hit;). A visit here can be swift, or take as long as you like while making those important project decisions. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, the selection is great, and the prices are competitive. I read that Home Depot is trying to get customers back. Well, if Home Depot read the reviews, a lot had to do with Customer service. I was looking for a wall unit oven. I asked one of the Ladies if they had a 24 inch wall oven. There was none in the store, but one could be brought in. I asked if they had any in the store that I could look at or something similar, even though it was the bigger size. OMG!!! , she told me to look at the ovens in a certain area. She just pointed the area. My expectation, as a customer, was for the Lady, 1. to escort me to the oven and at least show me some features. 2. If no ovens were available, at least show me online, some available ovens that can be shipped to Hawaii. Another customer had questions, I felt that the ladies were also rather rude, like they did not want to be bothered. I do not go the Home Depot as often now. I'd rather go to other places. Please fix customer service first. And make sure they know what they are more knowledgeable. read more

This store is located makai of Costco in Iwilei, mauka of Nimitz. Plenty of free parking but it's always busy so drive slowly and carefully, lots of trucks backing up, being loaded up. We had gone to several places before going here as it was in logistical order for us. Started in Kaimuki near our home and worked our way west. None of the stores had a decent selection of ceiling fans or large BTU ACs. So--we ended up here and the minute we walked in, straight ahead were the fans! Nicely placed because they know summer is coming up and we need cool! Checking out the many and I mean many selections, it didn't take long before a rep stopped to ask if we needed help. Karl was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions before moving on to help the next guy further down. After we loaded up three fans on our cart, we moved further down to see if there were smaller ones. The next rep, Kevo, was very helpful as well with a wicked sense of humor but also gave us good intel and recommended we keep the larger fan. He was right. We would have regretted getting the smaller one because would have had to have it on high and would have taken more electricity. On our way to cash register, the ACs were prominently displayed at front of store and lots of stock with a few large BTUs yay! At the self checkout, Kesha, was waiting with her handheld checker and asked if we wanted to open an account as we would save $50 on our purchase and rack up some decent point for more discounts and free stuff. Literally, this process took maybe 3 minutes? All on that little credit card machine, asked for my name, birthdate, last four numbers of ss, annual salary and then boom- popped up with a new credit card amount I qualified for and then boom it automatically deducts the $50 and then adds my balance to the new card. Card will come in mail in 2 weeks! Kesha was very informed and knew answers to all our questions as well as gave us info that we hadn't thought to ask. That being said, we had noticed that many stores, car maintenance places, salons, restaurants add on a 3% surcharge if using a credit card so we decided to use debit instead so this helped us not draining our checking and also using their card without a surcharge. When I arrived at about 5:15 am, I asked the sales associate in the interior department to kindly help me cut the mini blinds to my specified dimensions. I had specifically wanted the aluminum blinds and asked them if they had it. The associate appeared to not be familiar with any of the products but after I looked around myself, I was able to locate the blinds. The blinds needed to be cut down to my size but the associate did not know how to use the cutting apparatus. I asked him when someone would arrive that knew how to use the machine which I found out was at 7am. Sadly, I was not able to purchase the product I needed on this visit. read more

09/25/23 I had the absolute best experience at Home Depot today. A friend and I went to pick up supplies to put a drip system in my garden. We were floundering around a bit when a guy named Bryan from Plumbing ask d if we needed any assistance. At first I was a bit hesitant because my friend had done this before but since we were struggling a bit I said "sure". Bryan was sooooo helpful and stayed with us the entire time sitting out ideas and options...then explained how it all comes together. This review is specifically for the Gardening department & a BRILLIANT aunty named Barb. I came in w a big landscaping project for a business and I have never planted a single plant in my life. I was def in way over my head! Manager Rocheylle advised me to come in the next day to meet Barb. Barb looked at my before photos, dimensions, and what I needed which was a tall order - fruit trees, flowers that would turn into ground cover, vines to grow into a lattice wall, and new soil for pots. Barb helped me pick out each item based on my needs and environment for growing all the way down to the color of the greenery. She also fully taught me how to plant it all, irrigate the area, feed the fruit trees in a few weeks, what time of day to plant, what shovel, tools, gloves I needed too. The fruit trees in stock were a little small so she even called a farm to have fresh impressive one's delivered THAT day. I was able to landscape the whole thing w one other girl and I am not only elated w the results but actually quite inspired to continue my gardening journey. I will 100% be working w Barb again to learn more. I hope these photos make her proud! I tell myself things like: "these healthy orchids would make a great gift" and "I wonder if auntie would like this terrarium"... Today, I went to check out the fertilizers. I usually fertilize on the first day of the month - it's easier to remember for me. On September 1st, I used up the last of the fertilizer that I had, so, I needed more. I drove over to Home Depot and parked in the free, covered parking lot! While comparing fertilizer brands and checking ingredients, a friendly employee told me that this particular container of Miracle-Gro is a dollar more than the box version AND it has twice the amount! I bought a new doorknob because the one piece of plastic in my old doorknob broke. Unreal that there is even a plastic piece in a doorknob. Believe me, this little review/story shows how ditzy I can be. I see online that they can re-key the doorknob (lock) to your existing key, which my landlord insists on. So, I buy the lock and the guy there re-keys the lock and tells me my key is too worn to re-key the lock because the key won't work in the new lock that was re-keyed using the same key. How does one re-key a lock with a key that won't work in the re-keyed lock. Ditzy me didn't even notice the hypocrisy until too late. So I go home and get all of my spare keys, all five, and bring them to the store and the guy is having a hard time again getting re-keying the lock and finally says that the locksmith used either the wrong tumbler or a special tumbler to re-key my broken lock. Ditzy me didn't even notice the second how stupid can I be moment because how can a person say the old lock has weird tumblers based on the key. I did not bring the old lock. So anyways, the key he used to re-key the lock actually works, but four out of the other five other keys do not. So, in my third ditzy me moment, not only do I not complain, but I buy five new keys that all work in the new lock but will not work in my deadbolt at home, in which all spare keys work in. Anyways, that is my true, how can I be so ditzy moment for the month. I am just glad it's not a daily occurrence. Now I am contemplating if I should I take the lock back and go nuts in having the lock re-keyed again or just get refunded. Both options requires the purchase of a lock that has to be re-keyed. read more

As an avid crafter I've shopped here for many things from pvc pipes for a photo backdrop to my faithful Dremel and so much more which makes me stunned to see I still haven't done a review here though I think this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Yes I always go local and try to find and shop items there though when it comes to "hardware" I do need help even when I'm in total denial and this visit...I broke the toilet seat, ya that needs to be replaced ASAP! Many many many times I do go local but I never seem to get the answer I need and still get the wrong item and never had issues here so I did drag Mom along this time so that she can make the decision which she had issues as well lol!! Here comes Ken seeing two women looking at some toilet seats debating and I did advise him I knew the size I needed but wanting the "slow close" ones seriously how cool is that!?! He immediately suggested one that also conceals the hinges that looks amazing and is easy cleaning instantly sold Mom and told me more reasons why as well that got me excited...yup lol!! Mistakenly assumed a company proclaiming it was a depot for the home would have beds and frames, especially with their always rearing their corporate head whenever I searched for such products online, yet I was wrong. No beds, no frames, no knowledge. in fact, I was in Home Furnishings, and asked two relaxing staff members where the bed frames were, and (really) they both asked "What's that?" I explained it was the thing mattresses lay on, and it still drew a blank. I then simplified it with my asking where the mattresses were, but was informed they don't carry them in store. Service is good if you can catch a floor helper. Some are not so knowledgeable and less cooperative like they didn't know anything about the Bosch brand of appliances they thought they didn't carry! Home Depot Customer Service Desk at Iwilei Honolulu Store is lacking in Customer Service!!! Dina, Chantal, Chris "the in-charge supervisor" need to go back to basic training and learn how to apply customer service in dealing with customers. These three suck!!! Sassy. Not helpful. No anticipatory initiative ... no offers or solutions or taking the next step to a positive experience. Tried to purchase a Ryobi lawnmower. Store inventory showed 1 available. Chris says, "I don't sell my displays ... there's no box with instructions, warranty, or batteries." Since when does the hired help OWN the merchandise in the store? And why talk out of your butt without checking facts? Sheez. Shameful. I hope management pays attention to this because HD is becoming a joke and is a circus run by clowns!!! Fire the clowns. Hire the people with real experience not just make believe wannabes. read more
