He responded with anger and said "do I have a frickin choice?" I told him I would load it up myself and he didn't have to worry about it. It was 3:30pm, not 3:55 right before close or something. When I was backing my truck up I could see him angrily ranting to his coworker. When I got out he just said "open the back of your truck...." Choosing to order me around instead of interact with me like a costumer. It took less than 5 minutes for me and the two workers to load the blocks. The unprovoked rudeness has made sure I'll never spend another dollar at Hardware Hawaii. Unless you enjoy being treated badly, spend your money at Home Depot.

Sadly I came at a time that it wasn't on the shelf so he offered to special order the part for me. When it arrived, Tyler gave me a courtesy call to come in and pick it up. When I arrived, Roy was the helpful associate. I paid for the part, which was very reasonable!! Then I asked for help to remove the broken head and install the new one. This site eventually became the City Mill location we know today. For residents in the immediate neighborhoods, this City Mill has a magnet draw for your hardware needs. They have decent sales and the staff is friendly and usually pretty knowledgable. They have a good selection of items for your hardware needs whether it be paint, tools, bathroom or kitchen fixtures, etc. They have a decent amount of parking, but it can get challenging at times. If in the Kaimuki area, definitely a place to check out for tour hardware needs.

I have duplicate keys made in City Mill majority of the time. I had 2 keys made, somehow, it did…read morenot work. I had to go back and have it redone. In the past, I had no issues. Today 9/21/2026, somehow, I felt that I was being interrogated, or felt like I was stupid and did not know how to use the key. I was even asked what machine was used to make the key. Good thing I remembered. Then I kind of heard a comment by them saying that the "Machine may be sensitive". I was also thinking it could be the person that mad the key. I am the innocent customer just wanting to have the correct key. If possible , I do not want to spend precious time going back there to remake the key. A manager or he seemed like a manager, made the keys with the old machine. I came home and the 2 keys worked fine. Next time, I will just get a refund and have my key/ keys redone. Less interrogation. Please trust the customers. !!!

But step in powerhouses of Home Depot that opened in Iwilei in 1999 and then Lowe's Home Improvement (LHI), that took over Eagle Hardware and Garden in Waikele and then opened this location in Iwilei in 2011. LHI originated in North Carolina in 1921 and has expanded to over 1700 locations nationwide. They also tested their home improvement business in neighboring Canada and Mexico but currently only focuses in the United States. I've been to LHI a handful of times and although I'm not a professional, I've noticed the pricing here is more economical than their rivals but lacks in the customer service. It can be very challenging at times so reach out to a sales associate for assistance. I do like there's also ample parking and multiple entries to LHI as Nimitz Highway can be congested during peak hours so it's better to enter here from the back entrance. I recently came here to shop for refrigerators as they also carry a large selection. Luckily my BIL accompanied me and he's quite knowledgeable with the different features and various companies. There were some questions we had and unfortunately it wasn't easy to flag down an associate. We did come across several not to far away but they were either huddled up socializing or not available as this guy was busy with his cellphone. Although LHI had a model that I was interested in as well as less expensive for an identical model, i ended up selecting a refrigerator with their main competitor. It doesn't hurt to do due diligence. LHI is a great option for those who are knowledgeable in this field and don't need much service. But for your everyday average Joe, customer service could be better here to address questions and concerns to home improvement.
