Well, the way locals "raved" about this place, I actually wondered if someone was getting a kickback, somewhere. Nevertheless, my wife and I tried it. My meatloaf was actually too sweet, if you can imagine such a thing. My wife's French dip, although very good (I tried it,) came with onions. She dislikes onions very much, and the fact that the French dip came with onions, was not mentioned in the menu. The service however, was very acceptable, although not necessarily spectacular. It was busy, so I am not being too harsh on the staff. For the money, we felt the portions to be a bit small. The overall atmosphere was excellent, and very festive. I really liked this place. It's located in this super old building but has been renovated inside and some modern touches. It has a very cool vibe. I only had a beer sampler since I wasn't hungry but the beers were good. The service was good as well. Hopefully I'll be back someday to try the food. read more

After feeling every rock pierce my weak, overfilled bladder on the mountain ride to your charming little hole in the wall - or should I say "hole in the mountain" - town, I pleaded to stop at the local mart - with a sign out front that said 3-day-old meat sale - to relieve my compromised "canteen." On our way out, we felt compelled to ask the clerk the best place to eat "in town." She responded unwaveringly with the name of your restaurant. So we traveled the 728 feet to the edge of your "National Register" town to find your pub. As we approached the entrance, I got a little worried when I saw fake flowers in your windows. Not only do I despise anything fake, I think fake flowers are a symbol of pure laziness. If you're too lazy to water real flowers, then you could be lazy with your service - or worse - your food. But since I had worked up an immense appetite clenching every muscle in my body as we drove on a 14-mile logger "road" that had a sign warning dumb tourists like us against using it while driving passenger vehicles, I simply shut my eyes and walked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find the aesthetics of your bar to be rustic and simply "Western." Your local beer offerings were tempting but I couldn't bring myself to try any since I had gone a bit overboard the night before. I did, however, try a sip of my cousin's IPA and it was tasty. To start, we ordered your boneless barbecue wings and were astonished to find they were made from scratch and weren't coated with that tasteless, hard-as-a-rock breading like their processed cousins. After inhaling them, I decided to wash off the residual sauce off my "paws" before partaking in my lunch so I visited your bathroom, which was one of the cleanest and most aromatic (in a very good way) I've ever had the opportunity to "rest" in. As an OCD person who used to bathe herself four times in the shower, there's nothing I like more than restaurants and restaurants' rest rooms being immaculate. On my way back, I saw a table had ordered nachos and had to have them like an addict needed his "fix." Since I ordered them while we were placing our lunch orders, I asked the waitress if she could ensure they'd be out before our meals. She said "Absolutely." I ordered your miner's delight burger, which was super hearty and incredibly flavorful which I attribute the deep-fried jalapeño to as well as the crispy, greasy bacon. Instead of fries, I ordered a cup of your soup of the day - cream of mushroom. Or should I say cream of 'gush'room. I cannot say enough amazing things about this little cauldron of absolute liquid perfection. If it were socially acceptable for humans to lick their dinnerware, I would still be licking this cup to get every last ounce of this scrumptious soup! YUM! Even the pickle spear was to die for. It was so crisp and "dilly," I managed to coax my table mates to give me theirs. I have no shame... As I was eating my meal, the waitress with a Bobby's World 'Don't Ya Know' Minnesota accent mentioned the nachos would be out momentarily. This is exactly what I didn't want to happen, but I accepted their late arrival like most of life's disappointments... like a champ. Everyone loved their meals - even the late-arriving nachos - so good job. The brownie dessert was so soft and gooey and could potentially be dubbed BTS. For those out-of-touch Yelpers that means "better than s**." I knew the fake-flower effect would rear its ugly head - eventually... The only gripe I have is for you to do a better job at efficiently clearing plates and glasses from your customers' tables. Not only will they have less guilt for what they just consumed but they will feel more inclined to order more if they have places to put it. There were so many dishes on our table by the end of our meal, we could have been selected for an episode of Hoarders. If I ever stumble into your charming little pub again, I will try your bacon-wrapped steak and pray you have Cream of Mushroom boiling on your stovetop. read more

Heard this was the 2nd brewery in the area and decided to check out their beer selection. Didn't find anything too appealing, but was super suprised to find many veg options on the menu. Waiter was super helpful and accomodating and helped me find some items that were not even on the menu. Tried some breaded and fried tofu which was something original and came with some asian sauces. There were a few other things I would have liked to try, but was sad to hear they were out of the polenta. Fries were pretty good too. Boyfriend enjoyed his sandwhich. Love how this place is built over the river. Parking on the right is a litlte scary so close to the river and the road. read more

The husband and I were on our way through the area and needed to stop for lunch; the Yelp reviews of this place and the idea of Wallace's historic downtown struck us as fun so we stopped. The good: Seahawks game on a huge projection screen, very impressive beer brewed on-site, my husband's black-and-blue burger was awesome. The bad: Crazy-slow service, my "philly cheese-steak" was awful (dry bread, maybe 2 peppers total, and the flavorless meat was not 'steak'). Seriously, the service was SO slow. We saw another customer come in, sit down, wait forever, and finally leave. Since we stopped for lunch, I'd try it again for dinner based on the rave reviews; however, I wouldn't necessarily tell anyone else to try it out. read more

We visited the City Limits Pub and Grill on Mother's Day, which is important to mention. The staff was incredibly pleasant and quick, especially for having been full to the brim. The atmosphere is a little intense, mostly red and sporty, but it's not overbearing. We were given a small table on the side, which was mostly nice but the chairs were none-too-comfortable. It was a great vantage point to people watch though! We shared a Spinach Dip appetizer and it was the best I've ever had! It was very garlicky and I wasn't sure about it at first, but it was love at first bite! We also took home a basket of clams for my mom, who thought they were delicious! So the appetizers were great. However, dinner was less than pleasant. We both had steaks that were so filled with fat and gristle that we probably only got three or four bites of actual meat each. My mashed potatoes were less mashed potatoes and more a baked potato that had been cut up and smothered in a slightly burnt gravy that was obviously made with bouillon cubes. My date had the fries as a side, which were good but nothing to write home about. I'm not sure how much the day we went had to do with the poor quality of the dinner, but I can't say that I'm too impressed with any restaurant that would willingly serve those steaks, regardless of the day we went. All in all, I won't be back. The prices were higher than other local places and the food wasn't up to par. I might stop in for a to-go order of that spinach dip though. My Wife and I worked up a terrible hunger conducting business at Dave Smith. Decided that City Limits Brew Pub was the place to remedy the situation. Loved the atmosphere right off the bat. We were quickly seated and our drink order was taken. Fist impression is favorable. Two beers were brought out and our order of a few Appetizers and a Cuban Sandwich to split was taken by our waitress Becky. Off to a good start. Food took a while to arrive but nothing to make a big deal over. Our order wasn't brought out by Becky but another employee that we noticed running around and staying busy. At this point that first beer was dry and I was looking for Becky to save the day. Becky seemed to have disappeared and we only saw her taking one other order up to this point. About half way through the meal we finally flagged her down for a refill. Those drinks didn't arrive with any kind of speed either. We did however watch them sit at the bar calling out for our attention. I almost felt like getting them myself. Becky finally showed up. After our meal was finished Becky appeared again and dropped off the check. Before I had a chance to notice she left off an item she was out like a fart in the wind. We waited...and waited...then waved her down to adjust the ticket which she did. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere but the service from Becky wasn't up to par. Friendly? Yes. We checked into the RV park and one of the owners told us all about the town and it's various restaurants and other attractions (many for such a small town) We asked her if the adjacent restaurant was any good (not knowing she owned it) she chucked and said "Yes, we own it and it is good". We set up our RV and went to try the food. We are Full time Rv's and we have eaten in 39 states so far. This place rates right up there with some of the best we've had. My wife had the creamy chicken and rice soup with her Slow-cooked turkey breast with cranberry sauce, stuffing and lettuce sandwich. Both were over the top good and it was like having Thanksgiving in a sandwich and the soup was wonderful ( we wanted seconds) I had a Patty Melt w/ fries.... it had to be the best I'd ever had and I've eaten them all over the US. Stopped here twice while staying in Wallace. Basically your standard bar fare type of menu, but the food was very good. Lots of seating and parking. Service was a tad slow, but I think they were understaffed, like everywhere is right now, so it wasn't an issue for me. The food was worth the wait. read more

We used their wifi since Wallace doesn't seem to have internet for your phone. We drove here from Mt. Rainier and it took six hours so we were hungry Tomorrow we are biking the Hiawatha and seeing the melodrama in town at a cute theatre about a block from City Limits. Beers were tasty and cold. Service was prompt and the environment was nice. I had the nachos with brisket, which were decent aside from the brisket not having much flavor at all. I would have expected it to be smoked or at least have some flavor, was more like stewed meat. The cheese they put on is more like 7-11 liquid cheese, disappointing really. I also ordered a pretzel with the special beer cheese sauce. The pretzel was delicious, but again the liquid cheese was a disappointment. My wife and I visited Wallace for our 13th wedding anniversary. I was told to check this place out for dinner on the night of. Needless to say, I was leery. I want to give City Limits some much needed praise and recognition. My wife and I were so surprised by them, we visited twice. Once for some mid day drinks and a brewery tour (Thank you Andrea!), then once more for our dinner. When we showed up for dinner, they had a private dining room all set up for us and it looked so prim and proper. Not at all what I was expecting. The decorations were very well thought out and made the room festive for the season. Our server was extremely patient with us and very pleasant. She made us feel like we were royalty and took very good care of us while we were there. Thank you Shyann for such a wonderful, perfect dining experience in your town. Now for the recognition: To the chefs- We have never been anywhere, at any time in our lives (and we travel, a lot) where we have both ordered steaks cooked different ways and both gotten them at the same time, perfectly cooked, and both the steaks and the sides . . . . . . . . Were PIPING HOT! as in FRESH & HOT OFF THE GRILL! My wife and I are very impressed by the talent that resides in that kitchen. Firstly: decent food. Satisfying and flavorful for small town north Idaho food. Tender brisket. Portions were a little small compared to the price, or the price was a bit high compared to the portion, however you want to see it. North Idaho Mountain Brewing is in house. Always on a search for new breweries. The IPA could have a bit more umph to it hop-wise. The hefty honey beer was a pleasant surprise being that it wasn't disgustingly sweet as a lot of honey beers are, but rather pleasantly dry. Fair warning though, if you happen to do Restaurant.com certificates, which they're a member of, they do NOT accept them on the app. Only printed. My friends and I have been vacationing in Wallace for 7 years now and we always come here for dinner (usually multiple dinners)! Love the staff here and can't say enough about Janelle. She is the best waitress I have ever had. We are a rough bunch of up to 20 and not very timely and she handles us with all of the grace, professionalism and sarcasm that we deserve! Especially when we walk in just before closing. And the Scotch Eggs and Spicy Mac n Cheese bites!!! This place has everything I want in a small town restaurant! Loved this place! It was very casual yet the set up is extremely nice. We sat at the bar and received pretty good service. Drinks were never empty and our food came out quick. This place is quite big and has a pretty good balance for families and those that just want an afternoon drink. My husband loved the honey beer and I loved the food! I got Kate's veggies with chicken which was just a basic stir fry with rice, but it was just like I cook at home and that was perfect on the road. My husband got the maple burger and it was to die for! The homemade bun- so good. And my toddler ordered the chicken nuggets- and when they arrived it was actually nuggets of real chicken breasts! They didn't look like flattened frozen globs but actually like little nuggets of chicken. She loved the sweet potato fries, too.
