The CitizenM group of hotels are the newest members of the Marriott Bonvoy program. We spent a long weekend here and the hotel was exactly as described. You arrive downstairs and take the elevator to the 2nd floor, where you check in with an iPad. There is staff available if you need assistance. After making your key card, there is another set of elevators to get to your room. We were on the 9th floor with great views. The rooms are small....like whoever sleeps by the window has to crawl over the other person to get out bed. There are drawers under the bed for storage, and there is a small desk. Everything in the room is controlled by an iPad (lights, blackout shades!, curtains, the TV, etc.). There is a night light feature to help you find the bathroom in the dark. The sink is outside of the bathroom, which has a toilet and shower. The 2nd floor is referred to as the living room and it is quite a cozy space for relaxing, working or having a drink. The bar staff was welcoming and offered recommendations. Don't miss the rooftop bar! Even if you don't stay for a drink, the views are amazing as you look out over Boston towards Cambridge. I recommend and would stay here again. Located at the end of Newbury, it's easy to walk to the public garden and the Boston common as well as being extremely close to Fenway.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel room with a view in Boston, I highly recommend the CitizenM Boston Back Bay. This hotel is perfect for the solo traveler, business person, student or a couple who likes to travel light. The room are a small studio-like cozy space with the bed nestled up to the window. The closet is somewhat small, but there is ample space to store clothing and luggage under the bed for an out of sight/out of mind vibe. The ambiance of CitizenM is very international with rooms feeling like one part Japanese minimalist and one part sleek euro/scandi modern. I LOVED it. Spent 8 days here in the fall. It is VERY close to the "T" subway station entrance/exit (Hynes Convention Center exit on the green line). This made it an excellent choice for those wanting to explore Boston and also have a view of the city. It's across the street from lots of shops and restaurants on Newbury Street. There is a lovely bar/cafe in the lobby. The lobby also doubles as a co-working space for local students and business professionals. This is also a great space to hang out before you end your stay (as check out happens around 11am. There is a rooftop bar with beautiful views of the back Bay Area of Boston if you just want to visit. Hotel staff consistently went above and beyond for service. I had a minor house keeping issue and their response was prompt and caring. Hot tip: I highly recommend paying the $100 to become a member - this allowed me to have a high level floor with an amazing view as well as a late check out! It pays for itself and is applicable at all CitizenM Hotels worldwide.

I would consider this the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed at. The width of the room is literally the length of the bed. This would make it hard for the person sleeping closest to the window to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Other than that, they make very good use of what little space there is, and the location is walkable to Fenway park (which is why I stayed here), and at the end of Newbury Street, but still walkable to the Copley, Eataly end of Back Bay. Do not stay here if you have a car or lots of luggage. Otherwise, stay here to enjoy the modern amenities (the alarm clock was the best! When it was time to wake, the tv went on with audio of the middle of a busy NYC street) in this minimalist hotel.

Had to make a quick trip to Boston for a business meeting. CitizenM as a new addition to the Marriott brand proved to be an excellent choice. At the end of Newbury Street and across from the T stop, it is at a great location between Boston and Cambridge. The room is small but very efficiently laid out. The common area on second floor offers great workspace, not unlike a coworking space. Great shopping on Newbury. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Across from CitizenM is the newly opened Avra, if you like Greek cuisine.

Stayed here for a few days at a time. Location is very convenient close to green line, seven eleven, and shops on Newbury. Room is Comfortable for the most part slightly on the chillier side. Space is cozy though. Very high tech and convenient check in check out process. Most of the staff is very friendly. The reason I'm taking two stars off is cleanliness. Considering this hotel was built in 2023 I expect it be very clean. Some rooms are better than others. Floor 14 has slightly better rooms but sheets have stains. Floor 7 is very sloppy with cleaning. I see marks on the toilet, dirty corners on sink and mirror. Mainly mold in shower I could even smell the mildew. Cleanliness is a very important factor in hotels and it's a shame the hotel is new and already like this.

We had a great 2-night stay at CitizenM. The check-in process was super easy, thanks to the kiosk where you can check in, pay, and create your room keys all in one go. Our room had a similar feel to a place we stayed in Singapore, but CitizenM took it a step further with more tech-savvy features. You can control the blinds, TV, lights--basically everything--with a tablet. Plus, you can set the lighting mood to your liking. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the bar and bites were a nice touch with late hours. The only downside was the lack of burgers and wings on the menu. Also, they don't allow outside food in the dining area. I would definitely stay here again when in Boston.

Affordable hotel in the heart of downtown Boston. It's very modern from the lobby area to the rooms. Check in was a breeze. We opted for the top floor with a view and it was great! I had fun using the tablet or their app from my phone to access everything in our room, lights, tv, blinds, AC, etc. Our room is small but has a king size bed lol. It has all the necessities we need and apparently the water from the faucet is safe to drink, and that's what I did. We opted to add their breakfast buffet in our reservation and it was a variety of choices for $20. They have hot food such as scrambled eggs, bacon, beans and corned beef with potatoes. French pastries like croissant and pain au chocolate, cereals, blueberry and banana muffins, yogurt, fresh fruits, smoked salmon, and coffee. They also have barista coffees which you can purchase. The hotel has a bar that is open 24/7. We went for a drink and their draft beers were reasonably priced. I just wish they have more options for snacks to partner with their alcoholic drinks like cheese platter for the wines or chicken wings for the beers. Since they had none of those, I decided to just get the hummus with pita chips. It was good and plenty for $8.50. It was a great experience and we would definitely stay here again if we get a chance.

We will 110% stay here over and over. Easy, contactless check in. Extremely accessible, and nearby so many attractions. We picked it because of the proximity to Fenway for an event - super easy walk! Rooms are great. Small, reminiscent of a cruise ship feel - but effective. Stayed with my husband and daughter. Full length windows. Great lighting. Bed VERY comfortable. The room darkening shades are UNREAL - we slept til 830 am!

This hotel reminds me of a font. Like Helvetica Now, it's refined with perfect spacing and clarity, especially the tall, waterproof, well-appointed shower cube with high rain head. Ultra-clean and minimalist. Like Avenir Next, it's "hipster elegant" (think Virgin Hotel) with a polished modernism. Like Futura, it's geometric with sleek branding. Like Neue Haas Grotesk, it's simultaneous sharp and smooth. Like Sora, it is digital-age with a subtle tech feel that is somehow warm, especially the large, well-appointed social spaces and digital controls for media, climate, and blackout blinds. Like Gotham, it's bold and modern with a super clean presence. Like TT Norms Pro, it's geometrically precise but inviting. Like Quicksand, you will want to sink into your weird futuristic train/dorm room XL king bed and fluffy pillows lodged against the sound-proof wall-to-wall window with drive-in theater-like widescreen smart flatscreen. Like Overpass, it's near major freeways and commerce centers, perfect for tourists. Like Work Sans, you will want to be without work, but there's plenty of cubby space for laptop business. If it fits your budget, and you don't mind the "European" size, this is an excellent choice. Overall, it's Grand Hotel, bold.

Where cool meets cool. I'm not even going to try and write a hip review that catches people's attention. This place is trendy and tongue-in-cheek chic. It's in the heart of the city with the art of the city. Feel like Squid Games meets a teenagers bedroom meets a neighborhood bar. Surprisingly the breakfast buffet is phenomenal. CitizenM features non-conventional check-in, in American rooms and community amenities.

My boyfriend and I spent Valentine's Day at the CitizenM Back Bay location this weekend and we absolutely loved it. I'd stayed at the Northstation location a few years prior and we were having dinner on Newbury St, so this seemed perfect. I love the contemporary, art deco style of this hotel. Super vibrant and very well maintained. The rooms are cozy, perfect for individuals or couples. We didn't have any issues with our room. We loved that the tap was drinkable and they had a station by the bar to fill your water bottle with cold water. Stunning view of Boston and the Charles River. We were also able to hook our Netflix up to the TV easily. Because my boyfriend signified on the reservation that it was for V-Day, they were kind enough to provide us with a Happy V-Day sign and some balloons, as well as two "free drink" cards to use at their bar! So thoughtful. After dinner we popped by the bar, which was pretty busy. We were served quickly and the drinks were delicious! Bar staff is super friendly, they even let us get a bottled sprite on the house. We took our drinks to another part of the common space and played some chess. To our surprise, we found another "free drink" card that the staff had hidden for guests to find! We thought it was a riot and my boyfriend was delighted to score another free drink. The next morning we just wanted a small snack to hold us over before heading out to get brunch. We stopped by their breakfast area and they let us know the full breakfast was $20/person (very reasonable). However, since we each only wanted a pastry and some juice, we asked to buy it a la carte (which was an option for pastries I believe). The staff behind the bar let us take it for free! We were so touched. The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed and the blueberry muffins are to DIE for! Clearly they care about their guests here. We had such an awesome experience in the short stay we had and we are already planning to go back for a weekend trip soon. Would highly recommend!!!

I went here for the bar and had a great experience! The bar is on the second floor and is attached to a lovely terrace. I ordered my drink at the bar and then took it outside with me. The terrace vibes were great and it was quite empty when I went (the bartender said it gets busy when there is a Red Sox game or convention at hynes). Overall I'd definitely recommend this spot and I can't wait until the 14th floor rooftop bar finally opens!

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE A CAR!!! Otherwise, this is an amazing property! The hotel does not offer parking, and the best options are two parking garages nearby that charge $50 a night with no in-and-out privileges (one of them has "hours of operation" which will limit access to your car late night and/or early morning). Street parking is scarce and metered (took me almost an hour circling around and around to find something). The property itself is AWESOME!! They provide self-check-in stations (with an attendant). The lounge (and ouside patio) is spacious, relaxing and inviting with a late night bar (that serves a limited menu). The rooms are clean, modern and minimalistic. There are eateries all around and a decent walk to Fenway Park. I'd definitely stay here again without a car!!!

On the surface, this hotel presents as polished and upscale, but over time it became clear that it is a full-on Monet--looks good at a glance, but the closer you get, the more issues appear. During my stay, I was required to move rooms three times--once voluntarily after an upgrade, and twice due to serious maintenance issues, including a sprinkler-system flood. In subsequent rooms, I experienced repeated heating failures, inconsistent hot water, and even a shower head detaching during use. The heating issues were ongoing and never fully resolved. On multiple occasions, my room dropped to 66-67 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 80. Even after maintenance visits, the room never consistently warmed beyond 75 degrees. On the morning before my departure, I woke to cold air blowing again, confirming the problem persisted through the end of my stay. Management follow-through was disappointing. Promises to check back or assist were not kept, and communication was inconsistent at best. While beverage credit was offered, it did not come close to addressing the cumulative disruption, lack of rest, and stress caused by ongoing room issues over nearly seven weeks. The saving grace of this hotel was the weekday bartender, Rebecca. Monday through Friday, she greeted my colleagues and me with genuine warmth, professionalism, and grace after very long workdays. She was consistently excellent. Unfortunately, that level of service was not present on weekends, and our group ultimately chose to avoid the hotel bar until Rebecca returned. That said, I do want to acknowledge Shirley, Wendy, James, and Nate, who were consistently kind, professional, and helpful, as well as the valet staff, who were always efficient and courteous. This hotel may work for a very short stay if expectations are modest. For long-term or extended stays, however, the operational issues, lack of follow-through, and inconsistent hospitality do not align with the image or price point the property presents.
