The Caesar salad has officially been added to my regular rotation. The jammy egg was cooked perfectly with a rich, yolky center that was still easy to slice. Unfortunately, that wasn't my favorite either. I usually love crème brûlée, but I prefer the custard very smooth and creamy, and this one was thicker than I personally like. My partner had the Chocolate Molten Cake and thought it was okay, but it wasn't a favorite for him either. Overall, Lela had some definite highlights--the French Onion Soup, Bolognese Pappardelle, and Hanger Steak especially--but we also had a few misses. The bartender told us it had been, but we then watched her walk to the POS system and enter the order immediately afterward. That was very disappointing and made us feel as though we had been misled. During this time, four additional guests sat at the bar, yet no one came over to assist or help expedite drink service. Our dessert arrived about 10 minutes later. Throughout our entire visit, the bartender never smiled, engaged with us, or made any effort to create a welcoming experience. My date did not care for the cognac and asked to see the brandy selection. When the bartender retrieved a step stool to reach the bottle, she set both the stool and the bottle down roughly. The interaction again felt irritated and unprofessional. More broadly, it seemed as though the bar was overwhelmed, and no one was stepping in to help. One server stood nearby rolling silverware while guests waited for service. I understand that staffing challenges have affected the hospitality industry since COVID, but given the prices charged at this establishment, I expected a much higher standard of professionalism. I was also surprised to see a server dressed in faded jeans and a crop top that exposed a navel piercing, which did not align with the upscale atmosphere I anticipated. I had always heard wonderful things about this restaurant and was genuinely excited to visit. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect the reputation I had heard so much about. If this level of service is typical, I do not see myself returning. The dessert was excellent, but the service left a lasting negative impression. An inexperienced bartender, a lack of hospitality, and being given inaccurate information made what should have been an enjoyable visit disappointing.

You find out when you get the bill. Also, calling it a "GF Flatbread" is a bit misleading. What I received was more like a doughy and undercooked gluten-free pizza crust. It was also barely lukewarm, and the cheese had already started to congeal so my guess it sat up on the counter for some time before being brought to the table. Unfortunately, our waiter never came back to check on us, so I didn't have the opportunity to ask him to have it cooked a little longer. When we finished eating, the waiter finally came by, and we asked for a to-go container. Once again, we waited nearly 10 minutes. At that point, I got up, walked to the bar, asked the bartender for a container, and brought it back to our table myself. Overall, our waiter was not attentive. He came across as though he was either unhappy to be working or simply having a bad night. I genuinely hope his evening improved. One thing I found particularly interesting was that, while we were eating, I noticed our original waitress--the one who told us she was being pulled from the floor--was still waiting on other tables. By the time we had finished our meal and paid and on our way out the door, she was still out on the floor. Had we had her for service, I wonder if our dinner would have gone differently, like this review? The food may have potential, but unfortunately, the service and my gluten-free meal left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the lamb belly with the zucchini, however the squash blossom stuffed with ricotta wasn't my favorite. If you don't typically order dessert I would absolutely recommend trying the cheesecake. It is hands down the best I have ever had! Cheesecake funk is where they get it from and I need to figure out a way to buy it directly from them because it is amazing. Overall, I highly recommend you enjoy the patio at W.A Frost.

This time I had one of the "Summer Specials," the Char Siu Pork Tenderloin ($22). This is a Chinese-style marinated pork tenderloin, which is grilled and served over jasmine rice with broccolini and Asian ponzu slaw. It looked an tasted great. My wife had the large K&R Chopped Salad ($18), which had green onion, bacon, tomato, dried cherries, caramelized pecan pieces and was dressed with blue cheese vinaigrette. She loved it. She also had a glass of the Meritage wine, which had a wonderful oaky and mellow flavor. Perfect. Normally it's $10 a glass, but Happy Hour dropped the price to $7, which was a bargain. As always, Kitchen and Rail has excellent is beautiful and appropriate for any kind of occasion, casual to elegant. The service is friendly and extremely efficient. I was again, truly impressed.
