Double whiskey on ice - A glass of whiskey on ice with a black straw is placed on a dark wooden table, with water glasses and a hand visible in the background.

This restaurant is inside the Intercontinental hotel. Our server was amazing. She was prompt and kept checking back. The drinks were fantastic. I ordered a double whiskey on the rocks but I think I got a triple. We ordered the calamari and the cheese plate. Both were very good. There are places for groups to hang out and there are standard tables. It was loud but it was also busy. I would recommend as a place to unwind if you're staying at the hotel. I wouldn't, however, choose this place as a destination.

Brunch buffet, cranberry mimosa, coffee

My bestie and I stopped at Citizen for brunch before heading to an event down the road. We didn't realize it would be buffet style, but for a buffet, we thought it was perfectly fine! While the buffet area doesn't seem very large, we were not disappointed in the food selection. Our servers was pleasant, helpful, and responsive. Great choice for brunch in the area!

Smoked Salmon Toast

Went to this restaurant for lunch after my flight. Could tell immediately that it was understaffed because I had to wait a few minutes to be greeted and then even longer to have my order taken. Luckily they give tables a water pitcher so I didn't have to wait for my cup to be refilled. The waitress was really nice even though she was pretty much running back and forth across the restaurant the whole time I was there. I ended up getting the Smoked Salmon Toast, which was really good. A lot of salmon piled high. It's good if you're looking for a light lunch but definitely don't come here if you're really hungry. Would not recommend coming here for breakfast (unless it's free). I tried pretty much all the entrees during the week and while it wasn't horrible, nothing actually tasted good.

Tortellini

We were staying in the IHG hotel and we're running short on time. We had a couple of drinks and a quick meal. I had a gimlet and my friend had a Grey goose martini. The gimlet was OK, nothing earth shattering, but not terrible. The portions of Our meal were interesting. The tortellini was a larger portion than expected. While my friends falafel platter only had four falafel's. The lighting and decor were nice. The place did not wow me. While the plate of tortellini was large, I felt it was overpriced. Their pastry café section looked interesting, but I did not get to try any of the treats. If I come back to Saint Paul to the same hotel, I might give them a try again.

Got the omelette with sausage, peppers, and cheddar cheese. Included toast and potatoes for $18 after tax so about $21 after tip).

Got the omelette with sausage, peppers, and cheddar cheese. Included toast and potatoes for $18 after tax so about $21 after tip). No seasoning on the potatoes, and some are even overcooked/hard. Super basic. Little cheese in the omelette. Everything inside fell out while eating - nothing inside could bond together! Glad my wife and I split the entree. Also glad we didn't order drinks that were $12 each or we would have really had buyers remorse. Go somewhere else if you can. You'll spend half the cost and get a better breakfast!

Ok. I have a half million Hotel points so I took the free drinks over 600 points for checking in-seemed like a smart move especially since I get 500 free points for not having the room cleaned tomorrow morning (we checked in after 8 and are here for two night). Nice bar, Chris is keeping to bar running and has a great personality. If you find yourself here, you could do worse. I should add there are 12 beers on tap, all craft.

Beer selection

Nothing spectacular, but a very passable hotel bar with a nice ambiance, good beer selection, and surprisingly good dry rub wings. The wings are an African influences dry rub served with green goddess dressing and they bring a ton of flavor. I'd get these again. The avocado bruschetta was a little disappointing as the bread lacked any crunch. My wife said it seemed like it was days old. All in all though, this is a decent stop if at the hotel or in the area.

This was my steak after asking for it to be medium-rare

Went here for restaurant week and was very disappointed in the food, although the service was great. My friends and I all got different selections to share. Appetizers - cheese ball: this was fine. Honestly cheese and ritz crackers, hard to go wrong. Nothing special, I felt like I could have bought this premade at Cub. Swedish Meatballs - these were ok Deviled eggs - great. Mains Bavette - I asked for it medium rare and it came well done... not even the slightest bit pink. Flavor was actually quite good for it being overcooked, but the rest of the dish was too salty. Pot Roast - good, but some very fatty bits of meat Chicken and Dumplings - also good. Dessert Chocolate Cake - seriously? How hard is it to screw up chocolate cake? I don't think I've ever had cake as dry as this was. I've had better dessert from a gas station. Banana Bread - Now this was a knockout!!! Outstanding flavor, perfect texture, the sauce paired with the banana bread perfectly. This was phenomenal. If I ever find myself in here again, I'd order this and only this.

I came in to enjoy some live music with a couple of amazing local bands, and I am absolutely sold. Highlights include: tons of street parking nearby, superior selection of drinks (more on this later), and awesome people. Everyone, from the folks behind the bar to the other patrons, was ultra welcoming. I'm pretty sure this is the neighborhood Cheers. Seriously--amazing vibes, and it's great for solo people. (I realize that might be ambiguous, so what I mean by "great for solo people" is that you won't feel uncomfortable coming here alone. It's easy to chat with people if you want to; it's easy to just enjoy the music if you want to.) Okay, I know you want to hear about the drinks. They have a great selection of beer on tap. They have tons of cocktails, including a selection of barrel-finished cocktails. Not drinking tonight? They have plenty of THC and even a CBD-only option (winning!), along with some non-altering choices that include switchel(!). There's a huge outdoor patio with fire pits that I will probably check out next time. Anyway, this is a great spot!

The inside of the bar is pretty small and felt a bit cramped, especially with how busy it was on a Sunday. They do have a back patio that is fairly large, which I appreciated, but during the day it did not feel very inviting. Without lighting or much going on, it came off a bit plain. As for drinks, I tried a non alcoholic half and half with lemonade and iced tea, which I actually really liked. I also had a mojito style cocktail that was not my favorite and tasted a bit too strong for me. The overall vibe just was not really my thing, but I could see it being more fun at night or with a bigger group.

Tucked into the heart of downtown St. Paul, this spot is equal parts cozy neighborhood hangout and glitter-dusted cabaret lounge. Whether you're here for a comedy show at Laugh Camp, a cocktail with friends, or just vibing solo at the bar, Camp makes you feel like you've arrived somewhere special. The energy? Warm, welcoming, and just the right amount of theatrical. The bartenders serve up strong drinks and stronger banter, and the crowd is a beautiful mix of queer locals, theater kids, trivia nerds, and folks who just wandered in and never wanted to leave. The cabaret space hosts everything from DJ Didi's dance party to stand-up comedy to open mic nights that feel like group therapy with a spotlight. And when the show's over, the party doesn't stop--there's a jukebox, a pool table, and an open garage door to the sidewalk perfect for people-watching and deep conversations. It's the kind of place where you can wear sequins or sweatpants and still get a compliment. Where birthdays are toasted with shots and strangers become fast friends. Where the vibe is always "come as you are," and somehow, you leave feeling a little more fabulous than when you walked in. Camp truly is a family for so many downtown peeps !

There was only one guy waiting tables and working the bar and he did such a great job on such a snowy night. We started with some apps; the French onion dip with homemade chips, loaded fries and Brussel sprouts. Those were all tasty and I enjoyed the homemade cheese dip that was on the fries and wanted to eat it with a spoon. We then each got a burger; funny is that we all chose a different one. We like to stay and chat and catch up about what has happened since last month so we decided to order dessert. My two friends each got a slice of pie and I only wanted a bite of my sisters pie and made a joke that I only wanted a bite and the waiter over heard me and he actually brought me a small slice on the house; he was so nice and I wasn't expecting that at all. It was such a nice booth that we were in and the restaurant wasn't very busy so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. I could sit there for hours and just chat and relax. I can't wait to go back and try more food next time.

It was hard getting drinks or refills. They were out of sausage and turkey for their breakfast items, but willingly made adjustments to their dishes for free. I still don't think I'll find one better than Saint Dinette. (RIP )
