    Nice hangout place overlooking Mississippi River in downtown St Paul. The beer selection is pretty extensive, friendly staff and the have food menu prepared in their food truck. Had a good time with my wife and my corgi pup.

    If you want a great view of the Mississippi River with your dinner City House is your place. They have really good burgers and tacos. With a nice selection of beers on tap.

    City House - I'm stuck somewhere between a 3 and 4, so consider this review a 3.5 stars of out of 5. I visited with a small group of people in the evening and enjoyed the time spent there! TLDR; good cocktails, great views, live music The interior is so neat! There is exposed building combined with plants, string lights, and Polaroids. Plus there is plenty of indoor seating. There's some balcony/patio seating with a fabulous view, but that is significantly more limited. When we first arrived, there was live music, which was a bonus. The menu - there are QR codes on the table and small printed menus at the bar. Unfortunately that means if you're a first time visitor, it's confusing to find a food menu and by the time you spot it, it's nearly your turn to order and now you're blocking the line. Def could improve the communication on that front! Drinkies - the beer and cocktail menu is well lit and lets you know what is on tap! Cocktails are batched during busy hours and come out on the bar quickly after ordering. The margarita and the raspberry mojitos were delicious! I might not be the most up to date with drink prices in the area, but I did find $11 for a margarita served in a plastic cup to be a bit steep. The raspberry mojito had a bit more flourish with raspberry and mint garnishes. Overall, I would come back to this spot for a hangout with friends! I think the key is having good company. {2024 Review No. 2}

    They have a few toys for kids and bags too!

    Food truck food was good, cider was yummy and they even had a few toys for kids and bags!

    This is a lovely little spot along the river. Views are outstanding so grab a table on the patio, sit back and relax and you watch the lazy river saunter by. It's not a brewery nor restaurant but beer and food are available. I chose a Sierra Nevada on tap. They have several on tap options and many cans available. Food is served via food truck parked right up next to the place (food window is literally in the building). We chose chips and salsa. I wasn't a fan. It was a fine snack but nothing special. Chips did not taste homemade. Salsa you dispense yourself. It's super dog-friendly. They have HUGE dog treats they offer your pets (if the parents allow). Tons of games are available inside. And, like I said, the views are definitely worth the

    My spouse and I love coming here. Have a walk and come and enjoy some drinks and food next to the river. My spouse and I have a love for the 1919 root beer and this place carries it on tap once in awhile. My spouse also loves all the options for beers too. We have yet to try their cocktails but I'm sure they are amazing. Ordering drinks is always easy and quick. You order and then get your drinks right away and you find a place to sit. As for food, you use a QR code and order online. Once ready, you go grab your food and condiments. Super simple and quick. We love their fried pickles. The place is super cute and welcoming to pets and families. On certain days, they do have live music which is nice. There is a small patio area right next to the water that is super nice. Simple and easy place to chill and enjoy the view.

    Don't get the nachos. They taste like an after thought. They had chips and salsa and threw on some lettuce and guac from a tube. Had like 3 pieces of shredded chicken. Not worth it lol. They have a big craft beer selection, bit it's like the most basic beers from the respective brewery. I was excited to see that they had mead. I had the City House Famous Raspberry Mojito and enjoyed it. I would recommend the mojito. The space itself had an old building charm to it and I liked the patio area. Very spacious inside. They also had a lot of games available. Good place to bring your kids and have a beer.

    Got the quesadilla. It was sweet and spicy. I got it with pollo asada and it was chefs kiss!

    This place is such a hidden gem! Right on the Mississippi in downtown St. Paul, this bright and open bar/restaurant is the perfect place to grab a drink on a hot Minnesota day. Service was amazing and the workers did great despite it being busy! The quesadillas were amazing! There is a self serve salsa bar, so I highly recommend getting the chips to try out all the fun flavors! Parking is a little weird as you have to park in the ramp (see photo) but definitely worth it! City house is also doggo friendly and they have a whole board dedicated to showing off their fury customers!

    Cuban upfront, Diablo burger in back.

    Chill atmosphere with great views, good food and drinks, and friendly workers. My husband and I came for date night after a stint around lake Phalen in a canoe. It was a nice evening and with everything opening back up during the pandemic, plenty of folks were out enjoying the warm weather. All the seats along the rail with river views were taken, but we snagged a table close by and waited like vultures for someone to leave a table from the prime real estate areas, which didn't take too long. We ordered food at the bar and received a little buzzer, while we waited for it to go off, we enjoyed a couple drinks. I had some raspberry mojito drink thing, not boozy enough for a lush like me, but refreshing. We tried the Cuban sandwich and a special Diablo burger. The Cuban was tasty, the burger could have been spicer, but all in all we were full and content. I'd recommend a jaunt out this way, maybe take a walk along the river before or after

    Cubano sandwich, super good!

    We came here on a Wednesday around 11:30 am to beat the lunch crowd. I've always seen this place packed in the evenings. They have a picturesque view of the river and ample seating inside. Nachos are trying too hard to be a taco salad with how much lettuce they put on it. If you don't mind basic store bought tortilla chips covered with lettuce and a minimal amount of queso, then the St Paul Nachos ($12) are for you. Absolutely skip on the rosé, it was $13 which is more than a regular 750 ml bottle at any grocery store. Also no tap water available, only bottled water ($3). The Cubano sandwich (mojo pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles & dijonaise) was amazing, truly great flavor! Definitely star of the menu, but the side of kettle chips were stale and tasted like they came from a three week old open bag. Overall I'd probably skip on coming back for anything other than the beer on tap.

    Woaaah! This place is cuuuuuute. Other than the stunning views this place also has great beers on tap, and a food truck! I love that it's not located on a street - it's literally just off a bike path. You have to park in the nearby apartment street parking or walk/bike there! Highly recommend coming here when the fall leaves are popping! They close in the winter time - FYI. Cheers!

    Very interesting place! Located on the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul, an old grain elevator has been turned into a bar with the feel of a brewery. They have a rotating tap with local beers and ciders, some cocktail options, and a food truck. Large garage doors give an airy atmosphere to the inside of City House. I really enjoyed the view and the atmosphere. Dining options on the river in St. Paul are like non existent, so it was fun to sit up over the water by the river's edge. Their tap selection was good and I enjoyed my Cuban sandwich from the food truck. There wasn't much seating (not sure if this was due to Covid) and I could see this place being VERY busy on the weekend (I went on a Wednesday). It's a cool idea and I recommend checking it out!

    It's been several years since I've last been but yesterday was a beautiful day and I was in the neighborhood. They have definitely made quite a few changes and upgrades since I've last been. More games, more dining tables, full bar and more. Such an awesome space right on the River. You order your drinks at the bar and then need to order from the QR code at your table (I'm not sold on the qr thing but it's becoming more and more popular) I have had the cubano in the past (very good) this time I ordered the chicken nachos, pretty darn good I must say.

I made a last-minute reservation online, which was quick and seamless. Parking was easy enough, there's a small lot, plus plenty of street parking options. We were seated right away when we arrived, though unfortunately at a very small two-person table with very limited space. It worked out, but next time I'd definitely request something a bit roomier. We arrived during happy hour but skipped it since we didn't want to spoil our meals. For dinner, I ordered the double barrel burger with a side of fries, and my friend got the fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. I enjoyed my meal, however, my friend thought the food was very salty and that maybe the chicken sandwich was fried in the same oil as the fish as it didn't taste much like chicken. We thought the portions were big enough that we had leftovers to take home. Service was just okay...nothing particularly memorable. The most uncomfortable part of the experience was our table location right by the door. It felt like people were constantly hovering nearby or watching us while waiting for a table, which made it a bit awkward. Almost like we better hurry up and eat. Overall, a decent meal.

It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!
