I live really close, so it's really convenient to pop in for a bag of wood or other little trinkets I may need. I'll address the staff issue first, I've never ever ever had an issue with any of the employees here. They've all been very nice, very accommodating and very helpful. And I don't think it's just because I'm a familiar face, I honestly think that's just their ethic. There's been quite a few times that they don't have specific things that I need, and all the other hand, sometimes they have what other big box stores don't. So it's kind of a gamble. Generally the things they don't have, are for one of our houses that is super old. I've been an ace rewards member for probably close to 20 years. I'm constantly getting discounts via the app and coupons sent through the mail, and I've also been able to compound all of my rewards points, with other special offers. One time I came in here and I bought $40 worth of stuff, and with all the discounts, and knocked it down to just under 13 bucks! As long as I continue to live in the area, I'll be continuing my regular visits at this Ace hardware! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Glad to see this business finally is complying with what they have posted on their website about…read moretheir having a Military / Veterans Discount. (See my previous review) I am updating my previous review because I got a call from a fellow Veteran that this Big R was now finally honoring their web site advertised Military / Veterans Discount. Off I went to verify. Lo and behold, they have a sandwich board outside the front door boasting of their Military / Veterans Discount. So, I went in, scored a free bag of popcorn at the door, was directed to the merchandise I wanted, went to pay where I presented my US Department of Defense Military Veterans id. I received a Veterans Discount. NO employee thanked me for my Service. I'm not sure they even know what a Veteran is beyond that I get a discount there, nor why we are important. https://pullingforveterans.org/blog/why-are-veterans-important/ PROS Building is old but was clean, neat and not cluttered. Selection was adequate for the type of store it is. Organized Customer service was adequate. Disabled-friendly as aisles were clear and wide enough making them easy and safe to traverse. By that I mean the isles were not filled up with encroaching merchandise, and that merchandise in the isles was stacked low enough that I could see traffic. Child-friendly Family-friendly The always engaging and entertaining Horse Tails newspaper is available here. See my review of them at https://www.yelp.com/biz/horse-tales-publications-gardnerville No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting positive reviews of this business CONS Has many above average prices and has many items or products that lack durability, craftsmanship, or overall value as made with inexpensive materials and less attention to detail, resulting in a shorter lifespan or lower performance than more quality alternatives. In all fairness, so do big boxes The Home Depot and Lowe's. Not a hardware store (Ace Hardware was previously at this location). UNKNOWN Don't know about public restroom. Don't know about pet-friendly. I rate 'em 3 stars. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". I added another star for their finally complying with their website boast of having a Military / Veterans Discount. A Military Veterans Discount is a token thank you and powerful gesture of earned respect to Veterans and GIs as it provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 6% of the population) and GIs (rare one-half of one percent of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream Veterans and GIs' sacrifices have made possible for 100% of the population. https://www.londonmiddlebury.com/blog-resources/the-history-strategy-behind-the-veteran-discount I'll be back. For my Customer Rule is: Always patronize again a business that has treated you okay AND publicly and consistently supports Veterans and Active Duty with a publicly disclosed daily Military and Veterans Discount. P.S. Don't message me because in spite of several complaints to yelp, for years now I am unable to open up any messages in yelp to me :-(

He received all the help he needed, but my experience was completely different. The moment I picked up an item in the camping aisle and handed it to my husband, who was carrying the basket, I noticed employees watching me. One employee kept their eyes on me for over 10 minutes. It got to the point where I had to make eye contact and stare back because I felt so uneasy. As a brown Asian customer shopping with my Caucasian husband, I couldn't help but feel like I was being singled out. The employees were constantly talking on their radios while watching me. They may have thought they were being subtle, but it was obvious. Whether intentional or not, I was left feeling as though I was being treated like I was stealing, and it completely ruined my shopping experience. No customer should leave a store feeling singled out or uncomfortable. This happened roughly 2-3 weeks ago, and I haven't been back since. Even though the store is only about a minute from my house, I refuse to shop there again. There are plenty of other places that know how to treat customers with respect.

Currently sitting with one lovely room that is carpeted and a master closet with no carpet. Repeat calls to get an answer on status. Very difficult to reach anyone for help- 15 minutes or more for a phone that rings or dropped into a queue repetitively, until finally reaching someone in the store for help. Informed carpet ordered to finish job- mid-May at the earliest to have a job completed that was initiated in March. Nothing more than a "sorry for the inconvenience". Once is a fluke twice is a pattern. I hope that the supplier issues are resolved and no one else has to endure this comedy of errors. The Installers (Reno Flooring) have done a great job and have attention to detail. Installers are very nice and they did their very best to complete this project. I feel sorry for the installers- this probably cost them valuable time and money too with these supplier issues.

It took a second to find as toilet repair is next to new toilets and separate from plumbing which makes sense. The service wasn't great, no employee ever spoke to me the entire visit, but I also didn't seek out any assistance and don't blame them for going about their work. However, I noticed a lot of birds chirping and flying around inside and a few products and places inside were covered in bird poop. I suppose this is an expected hazard when running a Home Depot, and I decided to go get some firewood and bird seed for my back yard. Outside the firewood and most of the products in the garden sections are severely weathered, worn, and are completely covered in bird droppings and seemed pretty disgusting. I decided to skip buying anything outside and went inside to get bird seed. When I approached the bird seed you could hear loud squeaking and I saw 3-4 mice eating all the bird food and jumping in between the racks. The bags had holes and there was seed and rodent droppings everywhere. I tried to see if maybe there was an untouched bag at the bottom but the entire inventory was also covered in rodent urine. Pretty disgusted, I decided to just buy the toilet parts and leave. There is no hand sanitizer anywhere and I stead of trying to go to the restroom to wash my hands I paid and left and got some sanitizer from my car. To be honest, this experience has definitely affected whether or not I would return, I probably won't until there is a bit better quality control with products and sanitation. The prices are good and the customer service is par for the course. They installed a new self checkout area which comes with more work for you and reduced staffing, but the products and quality has taken a nosedive.
