I really like this neighborhood restaurant, there are menu items I love and others not so much, but that is more my personal taste than their execution. My favorites are the steelhead with mashed potatoes and veggie of the day and I really enjoy the lemony kale Caesar topped with their crispy on the outside juicy on the inside fried oysters! Ordered soup, salad and an IPA. The rice and chicken soup is really nice. Flavorful blend of spices with tomatoes, mishrooms, carrots, and greens. Definitely an Asian hot & sour lean to it. The accompanying bread has nuts and a nice chewy texture to it. The salad has romaine greens, red onions, candied walnuts, raisins, and a goat or feta cheese sprinkled on top. Very lightly dressed. Heard great things about this place and decided to try it. Mistake. I informed the bar tender/server of my allergies and she gaffed them off. When I found ONE gluten friendly item on the menu, I asked her to check and make sure the corn tortillas were entirely gluten free. She didn't do it, when the food was delivered incorrectly, I asked what she had found when she checked and she said "oh, I just know they're gluten free." Way to a) treat me like a second class citizen and b) ignore a serious allergy. She was then laughing about to another sever within earshot. Classy. Food was NOT good, tastes leftover and stale. Continuously impressed with this restaurant! I have never had a bad meal. I've only ordered for take out, but they are always fast and the food is continuously delicious! Not only that, but as a (cow) dairy free and gluten free person they have options that accommodate (eg. lamb burger, steelhead salad, tacos). Circa is a gem! My wife and I had eaten here over the years and we've always been sooo happy with every dish. Since lockdown, we have been getting takeout regularly, and they have gone above and beyond when it comes to sanitizing and takeout proto. The roux in the gumbo is legit and it takes me back to New Orleans. My wife and I have been regulars for over 30 years. Before we retired 10 years ago, Circa was our go-to site for weeknight dinners when we didn't want to cook. Over all those years, it averaged 4 stars -- good food, reliable service, moderate pricing for a restaurant that blends pub food with reasonably fine dining. But last night's experience was poor. It was 9 pm, an hour from closing, perhaps the reason why my main course -- "Korean style short ribs" -- was dry and not hot; only modestly above room temperature. And very tough, i.e. apparently undercooked (for ribs) (long duration needed for "fall off the rib" tenderness) hours earlier, then kept in a not-hot-enough warmer. They were tough and dry. And barely Asian ("Korean") flavored. Also, for me the menu term "short ribs" implies pork, but they were beef. I'm OK with beef ribs, but the menu should specify the meat! Service was on the slow side as well; we were one of only 4-5 tables occupied at the time and it still took 20+ minutes to serve the main course which, as noted above, was obviously something that could have been accomplished a lot faster, even with current short staffing problems with many restaurants. read more

And I am a little disappointed:( We got 2 standard brunch (eggs, sausage, hash browns, coffee cake) and sweet potato fried delivered. There were good review son Yelp so I was expecting good breakfast...however the food was mediocre - sausage was hard, hash browns tasted little bit weird(like old potato's), and coffee cake didn't taste like coffee & it was hard. Came here on a Sunday for brunch with my friend and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed the California benedict was poached and flavored to perfection and we split the eggs Sardu which was also very tasty. The artichoke was a nice pickly touch but not too much, it was all just right. The two dishes were reminiscent of eachother, less bread for the Sardu and add arti. My friend brought her daughter and the kid scramble plate was a very generous portion for $5, you definitely get your money's worth. The place is small but the wait wasn't more than 10 min at noon for brunch on a Sunday so we might have lucked out. The staff was very pleasant. Although my food was very good and served with a slice of cantaloupe and hash browns I still felt like I could eat more in hindsight we probably should have ordered the beignets too and that would probably have solved my problem. The chrizo flavored sliders were really good. I wish there was more to the order. You get 3 sliders, which was more like 3 meatballs between Hawaiian rolls. As delicious as they were, they were of a snack than a meal. It was happy hour, so the sliders were $10 and the Bloody Mary was $3. BF got the lamb burger that came with fries and a curry ketchup. The burger tasted like a gyro on a bun, which got not complaints from us. Both items were pretty tasty. Not great of a deal for HH since the burger was $14, but the food was good. This place has been around as long as I can remember. The reason for it's longevity is simple, serve cozy delicious food, at reasonable prices, served by the friendliest staff in town. I personally go for the Gumbo and the steak salad. As a Louisiana native, I'm always looking for the real deal and this Gumbo is as close as ive found in Seattle to the taste of home. Order it with an extra skewer of shrimp. And the steak Salad is the best in town, especially if you get the sauce on the side. 5 stars. read more

This is a nice casual spot to go for a relaxing dinner. My girlfriend's Aunt took us here for our first night in town. My initial impression was that the restaurant was small, but in a good homey kind of way. All of the staff were very nice, attentive, and timely. The beer selection was awesome! I ordered the Seapine Circa IPA, which was delicious. We ordered the chicken quesadilla as an appetizer and I loved it. To be fair, I don't think there's such a thing as a bad quesadilla. For dinner, I ordered the Burger. It was a half-pound beauty cooked to perfection (medium). It came with a nice side of fries, which I firmly believe were the best fries I ever had. So, this little neighborhood gem is just that. I have never been disappointed. Tonight I had my favorite, the Grilled Meatloaf. Oh my gosh, if you're a meatloaf lover, it is a must try. Two words... A mazing! (I know it should be one word, but a restaurant this good deserves extra emphasis.) A small, local, neighborhood place. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table, but it was well worth the wait. My two friends ordered the 10 oz ribeye special with mashed potatoes and I ordered the shrimp and grits with vegetables. Both of my friends said it was the best steak they had ever eaten. One accused the cook of putting drugs in the meat because he didn't want to stop eating it. The steak was cooked to perfection. Juicy. Tender. Flavorful. At one point he was contemplating ordering another meal to eat. My shrimp and grits were fantastic. The owner is from New Orleans and I can tell. It was bursting with that New Orleans flavor, but not at all overwhelming. The grits were smooth and flavorful. The shrimp were tender. And then the desert. Yeah. We got one of each. And there wasn't a crumb left on any of our plates. Don't judge. I feel great about my choices. I don't give 5 stars very often, but Circa deserves it. I'd give 7 stars if I could. I went back yet giving it another chance. I have to do take out and like to enjoy a glass of wine while I wait. Yet, not the first, second, or third time my order was short ordered. I order simple, chicken sandwich with lettuce and a side. They continually forget the fries. This time it was repeatedly how I ordered and specifically asked for tartar to go with my fries. Got home...no fries...this time I called as I am done dealing with being loyal to businesses during Covid and now give you the finger. Circa is a great little place right in the Admiral Junction of West Seattle. The atmosphere is very cozy and quaint. The food is outstanding and still pretty reasonably priced. Contrary to what another reviewer said, though, we have never had any issue with the service there. We've had the same server both times we've been there, and she has been extremely pleasant, and remembered us from our first visit, even down to the soup we'd ordered and the dessert that we'd declined but "promised" to try next time we were there. I'm sorry that a previous reviewer has had poor service there, but don't let this dissuade you from trying it and making up your own mind. read more
