While visiting my family in San Antonio I decided to get a pedicure in celebration of my up coming graduation. I had decided on wearing peep-toe shoes and wanted to make sure my toes looked the part. Now when I go to nail salons for pedicures I always get nervous because I am prone to ingrown toenails, I needed a salon I could trust to remove them quickly and efficiently. My mother had just started going to Cindy's and she recommended her and said they'd take care of me. I liked the location and feel of Cindy's. it was small and the staff was polite when greeting me. The polish selection was okay at best, they had good brands but not a huge variety of colors. The problems came only when I actually sat down for the pedicure. It started off normal enough, I was relaxing and fiddling with the massage chair (yes they provide those) but then came time for the painful part, the tech found my minor ingrown. I thought she got the first pretty quickly but she kept digging into the side of my toe, trying to get the rest of it I guess. I sat trying to take it, knowing it would feel a million times better when she finished. It took her a good 10 mins with one toe and 5 with the next. It might not sound like a lot but when you have a sharp nail tool digging into the side flesh of your toe, you just want things to be done with. I have had techs breeze through worse in the past, it has literally taken others 20 seconds at most to clip the problem part and be done with it. So you can understand my mounting discomfort when she repeatedly failed to handle the problem. And to make matters worse she repeatedly asked me if I wanted to upgrade to the Deluxe pedicure for $10 more. I'm a poor college student guys, I didn't have much on me. I had to decline a grand total of 4 times and with her last attempt came her convincing argument of "your feet stink, you should get deluxe pedicure". Ummm alright? What a sales line. I am barefoot inside most of the day, I've never had an issue with foot odor, and if I did, I'm sure her deluxe pedicure would only make a difference on my wallet. So I finished out the day with painful toe beds and a mediocre polish. What was worse is that when I got home I realized there was still part of the ingrown left in the toe she spent an absurd amount of time on. I'm actually really scared at how that nail is going to grow now because it hurts even more than when I went in. My other toe swelled up the morning of my graduation after the pedicure and it hurt when I put pressure on it. Awesome, like heels aren't uncomfortable enough. Needless to say I had a terrible experience and WILL NOT be back. You go to a salon to relax and feel pampered, not be hounded and in pain. read more

I wish there were an option of no stars. This was absolutely the worst nail experience I've had in a long time...or ever. I was visiting San Antonio and went to this salon based on the location and ratings. The pedicure itself was 'fine', as in it was nothing special; the manicure was awful. I have decent length nails and asked that they be filed square. The technician filed them down to a Y shape...??? Is this even possible? I asked that she correct the problem and she then filed one nail down to the skin and made it worse. Nicely, I showed her what I'd like and she then told me to do it myself. I asked if another technician was available and I was not answered. The owner was at the next station and did not attend to the problem nor apologize and correct the problem. I left without a manicure. A basic manicure should be a very simple request. Needless to say, I do not suggest this salon. read more

Came here based on the rating and I will never step foot in here again. I made an appointment and still had to wait for someone to start on me. I came in for dipping powder and was disappointed with the lack of choices. More than half of the choices seemed old and lacked pigmentation. I finally picked a mauve color (number 51). The lady doing my nails spent probably 3-4 minutes tending to my nails before applying the powder which seemed too short and rushed. As she was dipping my nails, I noticed the color was a more pumpkin orange than mauve. I voiced my concerns but she just kept going with it. At the end of the manicure, my nails were orange and uneven. I again voiced my concerns and she said "oh the sample color that you picked was probably old and changed colors, sorry". I kept voicng my concerns as she rang me up. I didn't once get a true apologize or any feedback from the owner. I paid $43 for nails that are the wrong color and are messed and uneven. Extremely long wait, compounded by what seemed to be attempts by the front-person to keep us waiting by giving short wait times. My cuticles were bleeding on two different fingers and the nails were not well shaped. My sister's cat eye nails look great. read more

I went there on a Sunday and only had to wait 10 minutes to be seen! I got a solar French tip set and the cost was only $35! The only reason I would knock 2 stars off was that my nail separated from the white tip... I have NEVER had that happen before and a week after I got them done! My first time and it will be my last at Cindy's. Positives: as a walk in I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Negatives: from walking in the door to 10 minutes under the dryer, I was out in less than 30 minutes. I was never offered a drink and didn't see the drink station until I was under the dryer. I thought the massage chair was broken because I could barely feel anything and the lady next to me was nearly vibrating out of her chair. I asked my tech to turn it up because nothing I was doing on the remote was doing anything. She didn't know how and finally another tech came over and fixed it. I walk A LOT for work, so I tend to have a lot of callouses. They're all still on my feet, some are just a bit shredded and even rougher now. I asked her to go back and got a couple more strokes with the pumice. I had to ask multiple times for her to cut my nails shorter, even after showing her where I wanted them cut to. The calf and foot massage was a joke and I got a single coat of polish. Just one. This was the most half-assed pedicure I've ever received. read more

The worst nail experience. I was told it would be 15 to 20 minute wait but it ended up being an hour. The technician got in a hurry and tried to chip my powder nails off my real nails rather than soaking them. Of course it broke my nails completely off. I went here a few weeks ago receiving mediocre service and SO MUCH RUDENESS. I was with my mom and she agreed to pay for my pedicure with chrome which is shellac with the powder on top that cost $10 more. Yes I know it's more expensive but since I hardly ever get my toes done, we decided to splurge. So after I told the lady doing my toes what I wanted, without a second to spare or even respond to my answer, she started talking in a different language to her coworkers about what I wanted. I knew it was about me because they would mention shellac and chrome in their conversation and they would also laugh every now and then. It was so awkward that my mom couldn't stop laughing and it made me feel so uncomfortable being there and I couldn't wait to leave. I'm already uncomfortable with my feet in the first place and that just made me way more self conscious. Because of that, I'm never going there again. read more

This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to. My mom and I went to get our nails done here in the beginning of May. I got a dip powder set on my real nails and so did my mom. First, the woman who did my nails, did them completely wrong. She rushed and put my nails under the light for powder, which is the cheapest and fastest way to do it. They broke within a week. They were all bumpy and ugly. Now for the worst part. The young girl that did my moms nails was very rude. They put the wrong color on my moms nails, and of course, they did a horrible job so my moms nails broke within a week. When she went back to get it fixed, they LIED to her face and told her that she was wrong about the color! She said, "It will lighten up." When she really put the wrong color on. The owner messed up and didn't own up to it. These girls a rude and don't care about their customers. Please do not ever come here. read more
