Amazing view at the restaurant atop Paris's Tour Montparnasse. Wait staff is also kind and attentive. But those are the only real positives here. The menu is ultra-expensive for being middle-of-the-road in taste and quality; and the place (maybe the entire building!) is in dire need of a refit and renovation. For example, we enjoyed our sky high view of Paris alongside a persistent musty odor that made it tough to even try to enjoy the expensive meal we ordered. Wow, what a view -- and that's about the only good thing I can say. My friend and I chose this restaurant for our final night in Paris, hoping for a memorable dinner. We were seated in a beautiful spot, but everything went downhill from there. The server was rushed and dismissive from the start, demanding we order immediately without offering any help navigating the digital menu. It took nearly 20 minutes just to receive our drinks. When we asked to start with the salmon appetizer and wait to order our mains, we were flatly told "no." Feeling pressured, we placed a rushed order for the fish. It was awful. Completely flavorless, drenched rice, bland vegetables -- totally inedible. We each took one bite and left the rest untouched. We walked away feeling disrespected, disappointed, and frankly offended by the entire experience. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

The restaurant located in a high rise of Montparnasse. When you arrive you will have to pass metal detector, because it's also offices in this building. For restaurant there is separate elevator. Very easy to navigate. Had amazing time with my mom as a last night in Paris dinner with amazing view. Pre-set menu was only 74 eur and it has a good options like lobster bisque, foie gras, branzino and steak! I think for a place with such a view it's a good deal. We used to pay in simple cafes 50 eur pp with no view. We had a reservation in advance and I ask for a special "window table" for quest from USA (me lol) They were very nice and seated us promptly. We selected drinks and pre set menu. My foie gras pate was very good with fig jam (just what I expected) My mom took lobster bisque which was very good too. For entree I selected branzino and my mom chose steak. Both dishes were very good. After we finished our main course (it was around 8 pm) We got first Eiffel tower evening lightning. It was spectacular and very memorable! We got our desserts gelato and pavlova dessert, both were very good ! Lovely place for a romantic dinner and a beautiful view of the city of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. View of the city was fantastic, service was on point. The prices of the meal for the guaranteed window seating was I thought overpriced at 140€ per person, but it is still very nice for a special occasion or romantic dinner or to impress someone. If you can afford booking this window-side table and it's important to you go ahead and try it. Also, if you do indeed book & pay for the guaranteed window seating. Be warned: Often people will interrupt your meal to ask to take photos of the view. It's quite silly and often times was annoying that they couldn't wait for a group to leave for them to take their photos. I recommend you skip the window seating and enjoy the same meal that I believe includes the endless wine & champagne, by choosing to book the less expensive seating for around 80€ per person. You get the exact same menu and service just no immediate window-side seating. But everyone can pretty much still see outside of the same window. Just please don't be rude and interrupt an entire table just to get a picture or video of the view. And definitely DON'T ask to sit in their chair if you're not with that party!! Food including the desserts overall was okay and the service we received was great. I recommend that you brush up on a little bit of French to get better service or avoid being overlooked or ignored at ANY establishment while in Paris. Knowing or at least trying a little bit goes a long way in the entirety of France. Also, the only thing that bothered me is that for a place that is supposed to be a nice and high-end gourmet experience - the carpets were surprisingly very, very dirty! You would think that they would make time to shampoo the carpets and keep them clean. Le Ciel De Paris is a very popular french restaurant with one of the most amazing views of Paris, with the Eiffel Tower being the focal point. So we get to this highrise glass encased skyscraper. The entrance is on the Rue de I'arrivee street side. While approaching the front entrance, we noticed a security check scan line. No problem, a few beeps, and we're in the elevator up to the 56th floor. Elevator doors open to a nice simple sign informing us we've arrived at Le Ciel De Paris. Step out to the right, and we're greeted by the host. You're able to see the expansive views from this point all the way to our front row window seats. Some seats have better views with no obstruction of railing as some seats do. Seats behind window seats are elevated a step or so higher. We dined here in late August, so the sunset was around 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm. We arrived at 7:15 pm for 7:30 pm reservations. Our table had pre fixe menus. After a brief look through, we wanted a la carte menus. The filet beef steak was grilled to perfection. This baby was tender like butter. I believe I cut it with my butter knife. The truffled potatoes we're excellent. Our experience was nice. The view is exceptional. Some things that need to be worked on. Our server was nice, but he was forgetful. He never offered us regular menu. So we asked. (What one ask for he shall receive). My wife asked for a wine menu at least 3 times. the 4th time was a charm. Oh, by the way, I'm still waiting for the cocktail menu. I had to ask for olive oil and butter for my table bread i ordered prior to ordering water. I noticed waitstaff sit my food near a walk through area just behind my table in the dining room. It sat for about 5 minutes as the wait staff and patrons walked past it. I feel when food comes from the kitchen. It should be brought to the table. I received my cocktail menu after I asked for my check and reminded him of my earlier request. Good water, though. I ordered a cognac old fashioned just to see if my wait would be resolved with free drink charge. Nope, lol. The carpeted floors of this restaurant could use some frequent attention. The leather chairs are a peanut butter brown. My seat had clothing bleed stains. Probably from someone with new black or blue jeans on. Overall experience was a 2 of 5. Those views and filet will be savored memory. Side note: if you sit behind the window seats at tha elevation. Your view will be blocked with patrons stopping to take pictures. The good and the not-so-good with dining at Ciel de Paris. First the not-so-good stuff. As far as upscale dining goes, this place has its good marks such as good food quality, drink selection, and desert. The service was great but it seemed only a few were working the tables so we didn't get the attentive service I expected. We got asked twice for our orders so I had to remind our alternate server that it was already taken care of. By the end of the night we had switched to two servers and had to tip them separately. So the good part. While it is touristy to dine here, it is still very much worth it. Confirmed by our local Uber driver who drove us to the tower, a reservation at Ciel de Paris is still a popular destination even among locals. Great view but that's really all it's got going for it. The service is mediocre (or they hate Americans. Or hate Asians. Not sure) we were seated in a corner and forgotten. Maybe it was cuz we didn't order from the grand ecran (140 prix fixe). We ordered from the balcony prix fixe (76) and it was OK. The starter lobster soup was creamy. So creamy it was like emulsified. Not bad but not super rich. The main dishes we got were disappointing though. The chicken breast was a bit underdone and the flavors were really strange. A mix of Asian vinaigrette or something with mushrooms and cabbage. I got the "heart of the filet" which was probably a filet mignon equivalent. I got it for the "truffle sauce" but it tasted kinda of like a bbq sauce and had a truffle shaving on top. Mashed potato was average and kind of chunky if you like that. The veal tbone looked a bit better and maybe I ordered incorrectly. Dessert made a bit of a comeback but honestly for the price I feel like there's better food out there. The sorbets were good, mango was delicious. The "ciel dessert" was a combo of like 4 mini pastries that represented all their other dessert options. All were interesting and am glad they're small because ecah would have been too much if it was solo. Worth a visit maybe but wouldn't come back. For my 100th review, I saved the surprise meal of the trip. In what I thought would be a light meal with a great view, I got a fantastic meal, at a great price, with the great view. I'd made my reservation as early as possible (2 months, online), and I was determined to get a seat by the window. No need to fret: we were seated right next to the glass with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. At lunch there is a 30€ 2-course meal, or 39€ for 3. Kids (bring 'em if you got 'em) get a 24E 3-course meal including a beverage - quite a deal. I started with "celerac muillefeuille in remoulade sauce, topped with summer truffles." Refreshing and delicious (though the summer truffles didn't add much other than being truffles and sounding fancy). I also sampled the duo de tartare: cod and salmon with a spinach salad - WOW! That would be my choice next time. The dish of the day was a sizeable braised lamb on polenta - very good. I had the "guinea fowl pastille with mushrooms and foie gras leaks, meunieres style" - YUM! The foie here was in the sauce, not hunks and chunks, but still the earthy pocket wrapped in pastry was delicious. We didn't go with dessert, because we saw that the coffee came with macarons, which was more than enough after this surprisingly large meal. Highly recommend, and not just for the spectacular view. Book 2 months ahead to the day online (and mention your desire for a view in the comments to be safe). read more

We chose this restaurant for its spectacular 56th floor panorama of the Paris skyline...sort of a "bon voyage" dinner before returning home. The food was good, and the service was cordial and attentive. However, after paying our $300+ bill for a family of four and taking some final photos, as we made our exit we saw a rodent dart from under a window side table to the bar across the aisle in the restaurant itself. We were in wide-eyed disbelief as we rode down in the elevator making uncomfortable jokes about the Disney/Pixar classic RATATOUILLE (2007). Then, as we waited for our Uber driver beside the skyscraper that is home to Ciel de Paris, we saw another dozen or so medium to large sized rats darting along the building's flowerbeds and broken tile facade. These were the only rats we saw on our entire twelve day stay in Paris. They were the last thing we saw at Ciel De Paris, but the first thing we'll remember. It's a pity. The view IS incredible, but at those prices a rodent in the dining room is absolutely inexcusable. read more

It's our first visit to Paris and we were told this restaurant is a must. The view is amazing both while the sun is setting and at night. Whenever I am in a new city, I try to find a place where I can view the skyline and pair it with a meal or some drinks. Before coming to Paris, I did a little research and discovered this place! I am so glad I was able to make a reservation and give this place a try. You can make a reservation on their website ahead of time! I came here for lunch. You can order a la carte or a set that either has 2 or 3 courses. I chose the 2 course with a starter, main course and coffee because I am not really a big fan of desserts. I started with a foie gras salad and got the shrimp and squid ink risotto for my main course. I really liked the main course. The umami flavor permeated my palate with every bite. I've never tasted a shrimp with such a strong shrimp flavor. That may have sounded a little silly, but I am serious! The squid ink risotto enhanced the whole dish. I thought the pieces of squid that they placed on top of the risotto served no purpose because it was a little bland and chewy. They could have incorporated the squid in the risotto. The foie gras salad was pretty good too, but the dish was missing a little bit of acidity. Otherwise, it would have been perfect! Most importantly, the view is breathtaking! I was facing the Eiffel tower as I enjoyed my lunch. That alone is already worth the visit to this restaurant. We requested a table near the window so we got to enjoy the view as we had our lunch. If Yelp had a mandatory headline for every review you make, this one would be called "Sloppy Fine Dining, at its Finest" The restaurant portrays itself as fine dining, ensuring all the checklists are ticked off: reservations recommended (you may not get seated without one), two pretty hostess at the front, coat check with a host taking off your coat and putting it on for you, nice atmosphere, uniformed servers, cocktail list, wine list, multiple courses, plated meals, fall off your chair pricing. You name a fine-dining detail, they have it checked off the list. But executing? Tare-hee-bluh (imagine it said with a french accent)! First off, I have discovered, having lived in Paris for two years, that speaking a little bit of French makes things worse rather than better. When you speak to a service person in the relatively little French you know, the service person will speak back to you rapidly because if you clearly speak terrible French full of grammatical error and heavy English accent, it means you can fully comprehend anything that is said by a local in rapid French. Anyway, all this was to say that don't bother speaking French to them. They all speak English, given that a majority of the clientele there are all tourists, and the service will actually be nicer if your English is better than theirs. So we get there and I tell them in my awesomely poor French that we have a reservation at 7pm. The girl looks at us with that French ostentatious shock like you've done something tare-hee-bluh, "mais il est 18h25!" she tells me in her terribly awesome French. I look at her in my wide-eyed north american confusion....so...? She looks slightly annoyed and tells us to have a seat in the cramp lobby filled with people waiting for a seat. I ask her if we can wait at the bar, and she says "no, it's not possible, there is no more space" with two open seats staring in our face at the bar. I then ask her if it's possible to get a windows seat, she tells us, "not it's not possible...well it's only guaranteed if you take the special menu that is 134 EUR - will you be taking that?" I translated to my bf what had just passed and he shrugs and I decided i'll look at the menu first. We go and sit down. At 6:55, another hostess saunters over, and asks for our name, clearly with no idea that we made reservations. My boyfriend insists that they didn't understand my awesomely poor French and show them the reservation SMS on the phone. The hostess gives a look like a light bulb lit, then puts on a huge smile and urges us in. We are, of course, not seated by the window, despite that out of the 15 tables by the window, only one table was taken. I suppose if we told the hostess that we will take the 134 EUR one we'd get switched but that really makes the whole thing crude and I thought the whole demand was a bit ridiculous. The rest of the evening went by without much story. All the protocols for fine dining are followed - the wine list was provided but all the wine was terrible, including the ones we ordered. The 68 EUR menu had your fixed three courses. The food was good, but not amazing, the plating was crude at best when an effort is made. Most of the food was just placed on a giant plate of emptiness (see the fois gras pic). The lobster veloute was nothing special, the veal came with chestnut and bokchoy, while the seabream came with mashed potatoes (shouldn't it have been the other way around)? The creme brulee was slightly charred and leaves bitter burnt flakes in your teeth. The service is surprisingly fast with a good number of smiles - and as soon as a plate is empty, it is immediately swiped off your table without a pause as a server or busboy walks by. I really mean swiped. I suppose you are paying for the view, not the food or the service. Keep in mind that you are in a dining factory, and that if you wanted a one-star michelin experience, it'd be much more than 70 EUR on weekend night, and you won't walk away disappointed.That is not to say that you can't get better food or experience elsewhere, but it'd be hard to get one directly in face of le tour Eiffel for this price. I'm not lowering it to a two star only because the food was tasty and the ambiance was nice. We wanted to celebrate my sister's birthday in style. The place is expensive but it was totally worth while tasting at the top of Paris with a great view. We only went for drinks and we're lucky to be seated by the window. The staff were very friendly. I don't know how much is too go to the top of the tour but for some €15 non alcoholic or €9 red wine it's totally worthwhile if you consider that you still get the view plus a drink and a table. We went on a Wednesday night just before sunset at 6:30 pm ish. The Eiffel tour lights were switched on at 7pm. The flashing lights go on for 5 minutes just past the hour every hour. One of the best views of the sparkling Tour Eiffel! We came here on a recommendation of the view at sunset. The restaurant is located in an office building, but once you get past that and reach the very top, it's truly breathtaking. The service was impeccable and classic. The food was good, but not for the price. Obviously, you are paying to have a classic French dinner with exquisite service overlooking one of the most sought-after views in Paris. That comes with a hefty price tag. We had the foie gras, lobster bisque, sole and the lamb, along with a bottle a red wine that was recommended by the sommelier. We followed this with a cheese plate and the chocolate tasting three ways (wow!). Everything was great, the presentation impeccable - but somehow it just wasn't a memorable meal for us, despite the view. My recommendation: Go at sunset. Let's start off with what everyone is talking about. The view here, should you be able to snag a window seat, is absolutely breathtaking! Should you plan it out, you will be able to view the Eiffel Tower through a beautiful sunset background, and may even stay for the light show that happens when the time hits 11 PM. The Ciel de Paris staff does an exceptional job. However, perhaps it was the language barrier or culture difference, but there were times where it seemed overbearing and a little rushed. All in all though, the service was acceptable. Now the food. While artistically presented, I can only say the food is average. Nothing blew me away. We had 2 sets of the 68€ prix fix menu and 1 set of the 138€ prix fix menu. The only difference is the more expensive one included a bottle of wine. The food choices remained the same, with maybe an addition of one selection or two. We were recommended by the server to choose these options, as it was the best bang for the buck for a bottle of wine that can be split with each guest. While a bit pricey, if you're on vacation mode like we were, one night of splurging won't hurt. To us, it was well worth it and completed the experience. Bottom Line: If you want to impress your date, or do business, and willing to splurge, go for the experience. The view will not disappoint you (unless mother nature is unhappy), the service is on point, and the food is exceptional! You can't go wrong. read more

So i was looking for a place to spend NYE while in Paris and decided on Ciel as the reviews were good and i wanted to spend that night while overlooking the city. This was the selling point and unfortunately we did not get a good view of the city. It was a very foggy night (and cold) and we were also told that the pollution was so much in Paris that some days you cannot get any views at all. So that was very disappointing. The NYE party was no cheap at all, so i expected to have a great view , but the food and ambiance made up for the lack of view. The food was really good from beginning to end, we also had unlimited Vevue Cliquot champagne all night. The service was a bit spotty but overall they were all nice. The music was good, especially since they had a latin recording artist sing the first song of 2017. The countdown was fun as we were all given confetti, hats, etc... Music was good. Overall a great time, not sure though if i would again pay so much to go so high up and not be able to see Paris. However the place is very classy and elegant. This was our splurge for the 2-day Paris trip we took while visiting family in Germany over the holidays. We knew dinner would be expensive but really want to have a romantic dinner with a view. We took an Uber to the towering building and had to walk all around to find how to get in on the correct side. When we got up to the restaurant floor, we stood in a short line while those ahead of us checked into their reservation and checked their coats. We were seated near other Americans (as I had read in another review) but I think it has more to do with the limited servers who speak good English and the relatively small size of the dining room. That wasn't really an issue for us. We had a small table on the edge of a one or two step-up level across from the window. Our view of the Eiffel Tower was beautiful. It twinkles for about 5 minutes on the hour. Our dinner took 2 hours so we saw it twinkle 3 times (the last was on our way out.) The food was delicious. The drinks were good but very expensive (€19 each). The service was good. My complaint about the restaurant is that, when we got the bill, it was difficult as a foreigner to understand how the breakdown worked. Unsure about if the tip was included or not, we were told by the server that it was not and that we should add the roughly €40 in addition to the charge. So we complied. The next day at a different restaurant, we asked our neighbor diners about the breakdown of the bill and explained what we experienced here. They said we should not have left a tip and that it was included. That was frustrating to hear so I wanted to make sure to write a review as my only real outlet. The only other issue I had was I regard to a guest who was not seated near the window. (You have to order from the fancier menu to be guaranteed a window seat.) Instead of enjoying the view afforded to everyone, she would go in between the window-side tables and take pictures with her flash on. Lots of flash pictures. I'm sure they turned out crappy and sullied the experience of the diners who essentially paid for their prime seats. It was really sad that someone from the restaurant didn't intervene. Had I been the diner at the prime table, I would've said something. All in all, the view and dinner itself met our expectations. It's also worth noting that there didn't seem to be a dress code. We had a little difficulty getting to the restaurant at first. You enter the building around back, then go through security and take the first elevator to the left to the 56th floor. They have a sign that is written in French to guide you. It was a little pricey but expected for the view and AMAZING cuisine. Everything was tasty. I had the pre fixe lunch menu and my boyfriend ordered the chicken, which he loved! The service was attentive and they helped us in English. Afterward, we used our Paris pass to first the terrace. one of the place to go when you are around montparnasse. The restaurant is at the top of the tower, do not worry there is a lift or a stair for courageous people. the service is very good, waiters keep their eyes on yoy in order to make you at ease. the sight is outstanding, you can fly over paris. Great food, great staff, great views. We went in spring with a 7pm sitting. Took us about 3 hours for our meal and we saw the sunset and lighting of Eiffel Tower along with the "light show" for the Tower. Top of the hour for 5 mins. Foie gras tasting did not disappoint. One seated and two served cold. Lobster bisque was very flavorful. Veal and turbot/razor clams were excellent. When comparing the same meal in the States, the price is phenomenal! read more

Food was good but small portions. View was adequate from back table. Spent about 200 euro for 3 people, no apps. Not worth it. Staff says Eiffel Tower first lights up at 10 and gets dark around 1030 so keep that in mind. Boeuf very good. read more
