    Sunday Lasagna
    Carrie V.

Brunch at Ciao Roma was such a cute experience overall. The interior is absolutely gorgeous!! very girly, pink, and aesthetic, perfect for a fun brunch vibe. It's definitely one of those places that feels special the second you walk in. The Sunday lasagna is INCREDIBLE and a must-order. Easily the star of the table. We also tried the ricotta pancakes, which were a little more tart than expected, but still really good and unique. And the espresso martini was solid. Service was okay, not bad but not amazing. There were a couple small issues: one extra drink got added to our bill that we didn't order, and my friend ordered a brunch dish with a side of potatoes, not realizing the dish already came with potatoes. We wish the server had mentioned that because she basically ended up with two full orders of potatoes. Overall though, the food, atmosphere, and vibe make it worth going, especially for a cute brunch with friends. I'd definitely go back and I'm 100% ordering the lasagna again.

While walking around the North End, we noticed this beautifully decorated restaurant. The first floor is a bar with high top seating and the second floor is the main dining room. As soon as we sat down, our waitress introduced herself and brought over bread. We decided to order from their brunch menu and were very happy with our decision. We ended up going with the Caprese panino and the classic breakfast. The panini had Mozzarella di Bufala, heirloom tomatoes, basil pesto and arugula salad. The classic breakfast came with 2 eggs any style, bacon, garlic parm potatoes, and toast. If you order anything, you must get the garlic parm potatoes, they are amazing!! The service was great throughout our entire meal and our waitress constantly filled up our glasses. I recommend coming here for brunch and I look forward to coming back and giving their lunch or dinner a shot.

Experience 5/5, Food 4/5, Drinks 5/5: Came here to celebrate passing my boards and we had a wonderful time. Our server was absolutely incredible and made our time so special. Here's what we ordered: -Rosa Rosa cocktail: BEAUTIFUL!!! And so tasty -La pera cocktail: surprisingly very refreshing, heavy on the allspice but I enjoyed it -Bruschetta w/ Ricotta: 10/10 the creamy ricotta was paired with honey and candied nuts and it was wonderful -Calamari: 9/10 I very much appreciated that it was not greasy whatsoever, just had a higher pepper:squid ratio than I would have liked. -Fusilli Alla Vodka w/ added whipped ricotta: me 8/10, boyfriend 10/10. I definitely think you need to add the ricotta to this to make it special. -Rigatoni and Sunday Ragu: 10/10, the short rib flavor was incredible and we added ricotta on that as well which I loved. Our server overheard we were planning on splitting the pasta dishes so he had them split for us in the kitchen which was so kind. We really enjoyed our time and will be back!

We had the most incredible dinner at Ciao Roma, on the first night of our girls trip to Boston. We initially looked forward to sitting on the patio, but the weather was uncooperative and tables were set for 4, so we were treated instead to a warm, round table for 5 with a gorgeous window view of the North End square below. The appetizers were wonderful, and I topped my bites off with the delicious strawberry spritz, which was fruity and refreshing! Our amazing waiter, Silvi, recommended a perfect bottle of wine to go with our entrees, and we split the Braised Short Rib Rigatoni, Fusilli alla Vodka, and Shrimp Scampi. Seeing the pastas were literally steaming as they were brought to the table, and each of the sauces perfectly complemented the dish. We had to end the night with dessert cocktails, mostly because we didn't want dinner to end. My espresso martini was creamy, but still had the darker notes of coffee that I love. It was the perfect nightcap. My friends and I still talk about this incredible meal and experience at Ciao Roma, and will for many years to come!

This was by far our favorite restaurant and meal we had while in Boston. The overall experience was a 10/10, largely due to our lovely waiter, Silvi. Silvi was welcoming, attentive, and helped our group navigate the extensive wine menu. We ordered a variety of appetizers and pastas, including the bruschetta (standard and burrata/honey/peach), caesar salad, short rib ragu, shrimp scampi, and vodka pasta. Our entire group raved about every dish, and if we had room for more, we would've ordered dessert. I had a lovely glass of white wine, and my group highly enjoyed their cocktails and dessert martinis. Definitely worth making the reservation if you can snag a spot! Note: Outdoor seating only sits up to four people. Larger groups will be seated inside, which will still be a great experience nonetheless.

If I could give a 10 star review I would. My friends and I were planning to travel to Boston on a girls trip. Ciao Roma has been popular on social media, so my friends and I decided to book a reservation a few weeks ago prior. Upon arrival, we wanted to sit outdoors but was told the outside was for parties 4 and under, but they were going to sit us by the window. It was so cute! Our waiter, Silvi, was amazing. Provided us with wine recommendations and quick, attentive service. Our food was amazing. All of the pastas (short rib rigatoni, shrimp scampi, and vodka fusilli) were DELICIOUS. The martinis were so incredible as well, one of the best espresso martinis we have ever had. We were very full but the dessert options looked yummy. Genuinely no complaints! My friends and I enjoyed the experience so much we are still thinking about it days later. It's a must!

Ciao Roma is super pretty & pink vibes inside. Great vibes, especially decorated for the holidays. It has 2 floors so can sit a big party (I'd estimate up to 12 comfortably), which can be hard to find in the North End! Our server was great. My butternut squash ravioli was INCREDIBLE, I would 10/10 recommend that. However, my husband got the Sunday Lasagna, it did not say parmesan cheese in the description, but it came with a ton, and he hates parmesan (makes him sick). That, and that someone else thought the Sunday Lasagna was way too cheesy and made her stomach hurt are the reasons for the 4 stars. Our waitress and busser were great!

I am not even being dramatic. This is the BEST meal I have EVER had. I have been thinking about the whole experience nonstop ever since. If you're in Boston, you MUST try Ciao Roma. It is so so worth it. The calamari was amazing, the vodka fusilli was so good, and my favorite was the chicken parm with vodka sauce. Also the espresso martini... SO good. 10000/10 rating from us. The service was spectacular, so personal, and the outdoor patio felt exactly like eating a meal in Italy. My favorite in Boston!

Came here for a birthday dinner with a fairly large group (8) and the restaurant was so accommodating. We were sat upstairs at a large table. We all enjoyed our cocktails and our meals. They do offer gluten free penne hear so if you're gluten free like I am, you're still able to enjoy some of their pasta dishes. Really cute exterior and interior, perfect for a dinner with friends or a date!

While Ciao Roma's food is average for the North End, it has a few things going for it, that other North End establishments don't. 1. It's not on Hanover St, so it's a bit quieter 2. They offer parking validation for a garage a few blocks away. 3. Old fashioned speakeasy lounge vibe in their upstairs dining room, and a really nice patio during the summer. 4. Service was attentive but not intrusive Everything we ate was on par with the rest the North End, which included Rigatoni and Sunday Ragu, Fusilli Alla Vodka, & Burrata Bruschetta. The Maple Old Fashioned was really good.

Celebrated our friend's birthday here! Brought our own cake, and the staff was so great about it and even kept it in the fridge for us. The vibes are great. The food was also phenomenal, and appreciate that with our split meal order they brought it on 2 plates!

The best restaurant I have been to in the North End! I got the mushroom pasta but I could have chosen anything on the menu! It all sounded so good. The restaurant has a really nice, cozy atmosphere and we didn't feel rushed which was great. Definitely would go back

Stumbled across this place by accident and got an after dinner coffee while my friends got cocktails. The coffee was very average but the ambiance made it 5 stars! The bartenders were so much fun, loved watching all of the drinks get made.

One small thing -- maybe it was just me, but the entrance was a little difficult to find at first since it's mainly just a door from the outside. There were also tables seated very close to the entrance, which made it feel a bit cramped and awkward walking in and out. Our waiter was friendly and nice, though the service did feel a little rushed at times. That said, the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the calamari to share, and it was beautifully prepared -- crispy, fresh, and not overly heavy. For my entree, I ordered the seafood pasta and really loved it. The seafood tasted fresh, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors all came together really well.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The bread had large air pockets, visibly soft, with a rich aroma of salt and milk; the olive oil was smooth and mellow, with a full-bodied fragrance, and the aftertaste even included a subtle, restrained hint of tea. Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala. The overall flavor was sweet and mellow, less bitter than typical tiramisu, with more layers of complexity. Actually, I was hoping for a slightly bitter version. Even on a weekday, it was packed with customers; by 5:10 PM, only one bar seat was left. Reservations are highly recommended. However, the bar was in a good location, with the bartenders being the easiest servers to find. It was a pleasant conversation with them.

The service here was attentive with the waiters offering more bread for the mussels. Most dishes are a little spicy, so if you don't like spice, make sure to note that with the waiter. The miso gelato is one of the most delicious savory/sweet desserts, and has lots of nice crunchy accents of the sesame crumble. Cocktails are fabulous, very smooth, as well as the mocktails. Cons: The crostini was nothing really special, and one of them came without the oyster butter. The meatballs, which were tasty but had a slightly hard texture on the outside. The prawn risotto was pretty one-note in flavor, and the prawn heads tasted overcooked and slightly off. The radiatore was spicy and nicely plated. The Cremoso al Cioccolato had a strange flavor profile that didn't quite fit, and had such a large salted chocolate-truffle section that we did not finish it (which is saying something)! Overall, if you are looking for a solid dinner in Boston that will guarantee be a nice experience because of the atmosphere, this is a good place.

The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor.
