Came in on a Monday evening. Sat at the bar. Bar tenders were very attentive & pleasant. It's a very nice & clean establishment with a medium to low noise level. Very chill atmosphere. I had an espresso martini which was excellent. I liked the twist on it, they attach 3 chocolate covered espresso beans to the glass, along with their name floating on top, great presentation. The girls and I decided to check out Ciao Roma for girls night. This restaurant is romantic and definitely authentic Italian. All the dishes were absolutely delicious. However, I do have to say the meatballs were top tier. The gnocchi was also delicious. It literally melts in the mouth. The service was excellent. The espresso martini was also adorable and absolutely DELICIOUS. The chocolate covered espresso beans were a cute touch. Ciao Roma formally known as Ciao Bella is a classy and chic little spot that reminded me of Europe. I love the cobblestone in the North End and there was festival outside on the street. My law school girlfriends and I have a monthly supper club, so we chose this as a spot to scope out. We made a reservation prior to our visit and we were originally seated at a tiny table on the second floor directly behind another table (with very little leg room.) We asked our waiter if we could kindly move to another table and he was gracious enough to seat us in a more comfortable booth on the other side of the room. Our server was attentive and ensured that we had a memorable experience here. I ordered the shrimp scampi and a couple pistachio beverages. The shrimp scampi was filling and tasty. The pistachio beverages were accompanied by a scoop of pistachio gelato, how could I resist?! The reason for the 4/5 is because the food was good, but not exceptional. I will be back to try other items on the menu to provide a more fair assessment of the food options. read more

Decor was very well thought out. The building was the typical old and slightly decrepit infrastructure that is the norm in the north end but definitely had a European bistro vibe. Our server seemed a bit inexperienced and confused but was perfectly acceptable and everything came out quite fast. Food and drinks were all good. The octopus tasted very fresh. Espresso martini is clearly their staple and they managed to put a different twist on the presentation which is a challenge in the north end. Bloody Mary was pretty bland so I would skip that next time. Overall the food and cocktails aren't standout items compared to what else is in the north end but the decor was very cute and cozy and that made the restaurant stand out. read more

Amazing service and the outdoor patio in the plaza is so wonderful for the summer! We loved the espresso martinis (and got ours without baileys), and the Ragu pasta was incredible. Being outside is sometimes difficult in the north end with the noise levels, but this setting was perfect since it's off the main road and much quieter. I'm a Boston local, so it's sometimes lost on me how amazing the locations are, but if you're visiting- you can see Paul Revere's house from your table outside! read more

Try to get a table on the second floor, and if you are a group of 4 or more you may get one of the beautiful window alcoves. Service was great, friendly, respectful, and informative. My boyfriend & I were able to score a table for Ciao Roma's Monday date night special. $48 for 1 app, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. Incredibly generous portions & price for the North End. I really could rave about the entire atmosphere Ciao Roma radiates. So intimate, trendy, sophisticated and transforms you out of Boston. I loved every detail. We started off with Bruschetta as our appetizer. We both enjoyed the flavors the dish provided. I believe it was eggplant placed on top of the cheese & bread which was the perfect balance of sweetness. We then ordered the carbonara and chicken parmesan ($5 extra for noodles). Generous portions for both & we ended up with leftovers. Including, the complimentary bread. Lastly, we were disappointed that they were out of the tiramisu we ordered, so settled with the cannoli trio. Personally, nothing spectacular. Go to modern or mike's for the most amazing taste! The espresso martinis were great, too, but $18 each. I really enjoyed the entire experience & intimacy this place creates. While, I don't think it is the best food in the North End, I do think Ciao Roma wins for ambiance. read more

Went here for a nice brunch and my goodness the outdoor seating was just beautiful. Really nicely seated in the middle of the north end right next to the Paul Revere house. First impression, check! The food, while being more limited in selection for the brunch menu, was really good. The eggs Benedict was really awesome, and the chicken parm was great! The servers were difficult to get a hold of and more then once I had to ask another waiter who's wasn't ours for something. It is very exciting when you find a place that has highly skilled employees. I was fortunate enough to walk into this restaurant for a cocktail while I was waiting for friends. What a gem! The cafe style seating outside gives you European cafe vibes with great views of the Paul revere house and the start of little Italy in north end. We weren't expecting much but the Caprese absolutely blew us away. The mozzarella was so fresh and perfectly paired with fresh tomatoes and onion. I wish we had preferred two! We were visiting Boston and were told we had to check out Italian on the north end. We were looking for something nice but not over the top fancy since we were dressed casually. Ciao Roma has an adorable store front/sign, cute countertop and window seating, and amazing patio seating in the North square. If you're wanting to sit outside you'll need a reservation, though. There is additional seating indoors, upstairs. The place seems like a great romantic date night spot. The 2 tops are very small! Only slightly bigger than one of the entree plates. This makes it difficult to have small serving plates, drinks, etc on the table without feeling cramped/crowded. The seats are small and a little spindly. They have some nice booth seats for 2 tops but the tiny tables don't really move to make room for larger folks wanting to sit in the individual booth seats. The wait staff were ok but not very warm/inviting. The host seemed a little annoyed with us that we didn't have a reservation and that we had moved tables (waitress made us move because she wouldn't allow us to scoot a table back slightly). We ordered our food but skipped the cocktails. We asked for a soft drink as we didn't see it on the menu. We were brought two skinny glasses filled with ice and about 6 oz of Coke at $3 a pop. We asked one sever if there were refills and were told yes. When we asked the other waitress for a refill she told us there weren't refills. If you order still water it's just room temperature tap water in a bottle on the table. We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana add ricotta and Pappardelle Bolognese. The ricotta was added to the wrong entree. My bolognese was delicious. The chicken parm was disappointing though. The chicken was pounded paper thin and the breading was dark/over cooked. This made the chicken tough, dry, and chewy. Overall, it's a cute spot. But based on what i hear about the north end there are probably better places to try. read more

The pasta was cooked a bit more on the al dente side but was still delicious. The bolognese sauce was hearty and comforting. The gnocchi was a bit lighter and soft. The ambiance of Ciao Roma is awesome, perfect for a girls night vibe or a romantic vibe. We decided to try oit Ciao Roma based on the reviews and location. We wanted to take our friends out to celebrate their engagement at a nice place that had outdoor dining. Our party consisted of 8 people and we were unable to make a reservation that large online so I needed to call. They have some new people working there who seemed to be a little confused when I initially made the reservation. They changed the time instead of the number of people a couple of times and also informed me we would not be able to sit together. Eventually one of the managers contacted me via text and told me they would make an exception and accommodate our party to outdoor seating for 8 people which was really great! When we arrived, they had us sitting inside in their upstairs dining room, however, I said something to the hostess and showed her the texts with the manager and they were able to quickly put together a table for 8 outside in the square. The table was super cute and the ambiance outside in the square almost makes your feel like your are sitting in Italy as opposed to Boston. If you can snag a table outside, I highly recommend, although inside was nice too! Our waiter was super friendly and accommodating. He answered everyone's questions about the menu and even took pictures of the group for us! He made sure our glasses were filled with either water and/or wine the whole night. They provide bread on the table complimentary and it is very tasty so definitely make sure to try! As a table, we ordered calamari and carciofi alla romana. Both were very tasty, but I much preferred the braised artichoke as it was super flavorful. As far as dishes for everyone goes, we all ordered different pasta dishes. Everyone at the table was in agreement that all our dishes were fantastic. Some of what we ordered was: Cavatelli, rigatoni & Sunday Ravgu, parpadelle bolognese, and the tonnarelli cacio e pepe. Two others ordered the half roast chicken and NY strip. Honestly, based on everyone's reviews of their meals, you can't go wrong with any of those options. The one thing that we didn't get but that our waiter told us was a popular dish was the fusilli alla vodka. We decided not to get a dessert, however since we were celebrating our friends endgagement, they offered us complimentary tiramisu to celebrate. Oh my was it good! It was honestly one of the best tiramisu I had had. Everyone kept saying how good it was at the table. Even people who didn't traditionally like tiramisu said it was really good.
