I appreciated my server Valerie for making sure I had all the iced tea I wanted, but I could do without the food. I ordered the custom enchiladas plate with oven-roasted chicken. What I got; however, was a middle school kid's poor attempt at making quesadillas. I struggled cutting the enchiladas, and when I took a bite, all I could taste was rubber. Five of us came here for an early dinner on Saturday evening. We were seated immediately. The food was good as always, and the creamy jalapeño sauce -- the main reason I go to Chuy's -- was excellent. What really made this visit special was our waiter, James R. He was professional and friendly, and attentive without being intrusive or annoying. We let him know that we were going to a movie after dinner, and he kept things moving along at a nice pace without any hint of rushing us. We had two kids with us, and James took particular care to make sure they were happy with the meal. He even brought them a little treat at the end of the meal (after getting mom's permission). I've never been unhappy with the service at Chuy's, but James really worked hard to make this a great experience for us. I hope to see him again on my future visits. read more

This place just looks... sad. From the exterior, it looks worn with the needed paint job and the messy looking landscaping. Maybe that's the look they are going for. Main point: the service was horrible. The food was meh. I much prefer Pappasito's over Chuy's. I had a taco salad. It was the size of a normal dinner plate and enclosed in a crispy taco bowl. There was plenty of lettuce, with tomato, guac, cheese, chip slices. I got the fajita beef option. Nothing special. What pushed this place to 2 stars was the service. HORRIBLE. Our waiter did NOT want to be there. My water was no refilled without a reminder. They also did not bring out dressing with my salad, and when I asked for it, the server challenged my request by saying, "Well, I've never served that salad with dressing before". Hmm. okay. How come the menu says I get to choose dressing to go with the salad? Thanks. Never returning by choice. The folks love it here, though. There has always been a long wait each time I go but there is a good reason to hold on to your buzzer.......#1 mexican martinis (for those of you who like a bit spicy!), #2 the food is tasty, and #3 the creamy like ranch dip is so addicting! A great alternative is sitting at the bar! they serve the full menu =) not at the table or the booth in the bar area but literally at the bar. If you find yourself at the table or booth in the bar area all u can order food wise is appetizers. If that is what your up for then by all means grab a seat! Chuy's is unique in both food and atmosphere. Every location is unique in decor which I love- they even have a trunk of a car in the bar that has chips during HH. Everything is bright & colorful and has a welcoming feeling. The food, although mexican, is unique too! The flavors are great and they have lots of options! I opted for the cheese enchiladas with the regular sauce, but they do have several sauce options for everything. The one thing that I crave here is the "green" sauce! Its creamy with a little kick! You can not visit Chuy's and not try the green sauce. Full bar so I tend to go back and forth between beer or margaritas here. The Texas Martini- aka margarita on the rocks served in a shaker is a popular choice. Includes an olive stuffed with a jalapeño! We always have good service and the staff is usually pretty friendly. Very nice with a retro '60s-'70s theme. I ordered their fajitas and they were delicious, but I have one complaint about them: they were a little dry. When I vigorously chewed to squeeze out the juices, little cane from the meat. But I must say: their flower tortillas compensated for the lack of juicyness. I was first turned on to Chuy's when I was 13 (yes, that was many years ago) and lived in Dallas. I was thrilled when Chuy's opened in Webster. My review is only of the fajitas, as that is all I ever order and they are very good! I don't eat tortillas (cause I don't eat carbs), so the fact that I partake of them here is a good sign that they are very good!! I recently ordered the queso with meat and pico in it (sorry, the name escapes me) ... it is way better than plain queso, so I highly recommend it. You can only order appetizers here, but the chips, creamy jalapeno, and Mexican martinis tied us over. 30mins later, our beeper lit up and we got our "real" table. considering that they just opened and it was super pack, the service is really good. While in town to visit Nasa we came here for a few drinks and dessert. Their famous tres leches. My niece and cousin have never been here and experienced a Chuys Tres Leches. So I ordered 3 slices of cake. (my cousin didn't want one she said she will just share) With once bite of mines well she said she can eat one all by herself. 4 slices for 4 of us. I have to say their slices were way bigger than the one Chuys close to our house but it was worth every bite. We got here a little later I think an hour before closing. The staff were wonderful and we enjoy the last hour with our cake and drinks. I went with a few guys after work while on travel from the homebase (KSC). It was recommended by one of the guys who used to live in the area. The place did not disappoint. I had their "Big As Yo Face" Burrito with grilled chicken and it was everything it was advertised. Huge size, spicy sauce and a good helping of Mexican rice to boot! Great food! Consistent in quality and good service. Can get super crowded on weekends but it's worth it. The Chile Releno and the shrimp tacos are bomb and there are a few vegetarian options on the menu which is nice. It would be very difficult to eat vegan here, though. Also, a nutrition menu has never been released by the company despite being asked for years. Because of that, I would expect that basically everything on the menu is super high calorie, but most Mexican food is. Definitely a different spin on traditional Tex-Mex, but it's become one of our favorites. read more

Chuy's is an expensive and family-friendly knock-off of Trudy's which is only in Austin... There are usually kids screaming loud enough that hearing someone sitting right next to you is difficult. They really should have a separate families with kids section. Their margarita is just like trudy's mexican martini except you get a lot less for not a lot less money. Get the plastic cup ones instead of the glass ones. They're cheaper and taste the same! The chicka chicka boom boom enchilada is pretty good. Make sure to tell them to switch out the crap rice that comes with it for their regular seasoned rice. I also like the chuychanga. My mom got the chicken salad. Pieces of the chicken were completely out of the package raw...Should have told them and gotten our money back. Service is alright. read more

Honestly, this place has been "on our way home" ever since it opened, although not terribly convenient location coming from home. In any case, we have had not been here for many years until a friend from out of town specifically requested going there. They remembered (what we think was) the moldy spicy tomatillo sauce that came with the chips (and salsa) before the meal. Have to say, that was our favorite part of the dinner. We are a LOT of sauce and chips before our meal. Part of the reason that that we had a particularly long wait from ordering to the delivery of our food (not sure if the problem was the waiter or the kitchen; thankfully the margaritas were tasty) and part was the sauce was just that good. Unfortunately the rest of the meal did not measure up as the food was average (you need to do better stand out in this area), and they messed up part of our order. It was an ok experience but not one we are likely to repeat. There are just too many really good Mexican restaurants in this town. It pains me to write this review because we have loved Chuy's for years - we went out of our way to go to the one on Westheimer before this one opened. My family has an entire wardrobe of Chuy's t-shirts. I waited several months to write this review hoping they would pull themselves together. But it's been a whole year and they have cut out EVERYTHING good that was on their menu. They haven't brought back chile rellenos, which was the main thing to go there for. They have only VERY limited enchiladas - no blue corn tortillas, no veggie enchiladas, no southwestern enchiladas, etc. No green chile rice. No green chile chicken taquitos. No Elvis fried chicken. Even the kids menu has eliminated the items my kids always got - chicken tenders and mini tacos. The vegetarian options are particularly nonexistent now, especially for a place that used to have several choices. What's left? Fajitas, which are better at literally every independent Mexican restaurant (Chuy's flour tortillas are doughy, among other things). Burritos (pasty, doughy tortillas). And tacos. Apparently they brought back quesadillas, which is confusing because (a) they're not that good either, and (b) they're dead easy, so why would they be gone in the first place? My family used to go to Chuy's regularly, but when we tried to go once a few months ago, we walked out without eating and went elsewhere because they have NOTHING interesting and NOTHING that isn't better elsewhere. We keep checking, thinking they will bring back the real menu, but they continue to have nothing. We won't be back until they bring back a substantial portion of their real menu. read more

I love Chuy's!!! It's the quintessential family friendly Tex-Mex joint centrally located in the heart of Webster. You can't help but crack a smile with the eclectic decor. Service is always fast, good, and the food is awesome. Beware: the jalapeño ranch green sauce is absolutely addictive. The red tomatillo sauce is pretty darn good, too. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. From the enchiladas, to the burritos, to the famous fajitas, Chuy's has you covered. If I may recommend a combo for those patrons that just can't make up their minds, the Elvis Pressley Memorial combination is excellent. It comes loaded with 3 enchiladas: beef Tex-Méx, cheese ranchero, and a chicken tomatillo enchilada. But wait! You also get a ground sirloin crispy taco and a tostado dipped in the house spicy queso. The queso con carne ladled on the beef enchilada is decadent. If this doesn't fill you up, then by golly nothing will! For a good time, good food, and stiff drinks, come to Chuy's. This is the second Chuy's location we've tried in less than four days. This time, instead of getting a combination plate, I got a crispy (beef) taco plate. It comes with three tacos, Mexican rice and refried beans. So yummy!! I really love their crispy tacos. I can't get enough. I think what stands out to me is that when I'm eating it, there isn't a whole bunch of oil dropping off like how it usually does at other restaurants. The decor here has a funky vibe along with the employees. It's just a cool, fun place to hang out while grabbing a bite to eat. The ceiling at this location is filled with hubcaps. How unique! In the bar area, there are wooden fish shapes hanging from the ceilings. Very nice. I like how there are multiple seating areas, each with their own decor, yet they all merge together perfectly. I enjoy this 3.5 star Tex-Mex place,it's conveniently located & the food is consistent but it's not my favorite. The restaurant decor reminds me of an old dinner,the hubcaps,the chairs & tables are 1950's soda shop style. The parking is usually full but they have lots of it. They have an outdoor patio on the side of the restaurant but it's located in a high traffic area (pedestrian & vehicules). The staff are good but no one has wooed me yet with remarkable service. The happy hour allows you to get all you can eat chips & salsa in the bar area for free. They hand roll & make their tortillas fresh & they have a tortilla station to prove it. They use all fresh ingredients & promote the use of New Mexicain green chiles in their food. They make all their sauces in house so they are fresh. From what I've been told they use fresh squeezed lime juice in their margaritas & I will give those a 4 star. The salsa & cliantro sauce that come out when you get seated are ok,I prefer the cilantro one. I have been here a few times but the only reason I come here is for the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas the green sauce is spicy & on point! They use chicken breast in this dish & so far it has been moist & well cooked. The beans & rice are also good. Prices are comparable to other Tex-Mex restaurant. I came here last week for HH with the coworkers. I don't go to Chuy's that often and I think it's because the food is just okay. It's definitely not the best Tex-Mex in town, but it's good enough. The drinks are pretty good though so that makes up for it. The staff is nice, but there were times when I had to wait awhile for water. They did hook us up with drinks though so that made up for it. On Thursdays the special is the mini chicken tacos. It comes with rice and beans and is filling, but like I stated, they're okay. Personally I think Lupe Tortilla's food tastes better and is more flavorful. The one thing though that I did thoroughly enjoy was the tres leches cake! It's a huge piece topped with strawberries. The bartender topped it off with caramel sauce for us! Yum! It's definitely enough food to share between two or three people. read more

So, we figured we'd get a large queso to use for the chips and our fajitas. We shouldn't have done that, as the queso didn't have the jalapenos weren't on the side as usual: they were already chopped and mixed in. The queso was too spicy and neither of us like jalapenos. The fajita beef was good, the chicken was okay, but the portion was very small compared to most other places. The rice and beans were okay. To top it off, our waiter didn't seem like he wanted to be there, and he brought us our check before asking if we wanted a desert, which we did. The restaurant was on the verge of being too noisy. On the good side, the chips and tortillas were excellent. With so many other great options for mexican food and fajitas around here, we definitely won't be back. read more

This was my favorite place for a while and then we found a little dive kinda place that was so much cheaper, faster, and, well, better and we've been going there ever since. But since it was Mother's Day and I wanted something we hadn't been going to once a week for two years, I chose Chuys. The waitress wished we hadn't. Now I don't need a lot of fake enthusiasm to enjoy a meal, in fact, I prefer if the wait staff gives us some space, but she bordered on rude and I swear she rolled her eyes when I asked for a second drink. Those drinks were $8.50 and by ordering another that ensures your tip goes up, be happy about it or at the very least don't act like your arm is going to fall off walking a few feet to give it to me. When the bill came everything we ordered was priced at least two bucks more than the menu stated but at that point we just wanted to get out and away from feeling so awkward and let it go. I am sure my husband tipped her at least 15% on that jacked up price but she didn't deserve it. Since I found the white stuff recipe on Pinterest I see no reason to frequent this place again and that's a shame because the food was really good. Found a Chuy's!! I'd been to one once before in Austin years ago. This Chuy's seemed more like a Chevy's (West Coast) to me, only with Elvis, no machino, and the beans were not nearly as good. But, the outdoor patio seating is a huge draw and that Texas Martini made with tequila was better than expected. Love they bring your drink out in it's shaker so you keep on drinking. Good! I had one of the specials which was green chile chicken taquitos. They were good, but nothing special really. Servers were fast and friendly. This would be a great place to come for a girl chat and to sit and sip iced tea outside all day. I'm sure we will come back although I prefer smaller, family-owned holes in the wall if I want "real" Mexican food. Written in my travelogue: Good to know they are nearby.
