My friend ordered some kind of hash with two over easy eggs ... $21.00 The hash showed up as some potatoes with a chunk of meat and one over easy egg with one over hard egg. My friend ask for some Tabasco or hot sauce and they brought him something in a cup that appeared to have soy sauce in it. The place we were going to eat in Galveston was too close to the cruise ship loading zone and traffic was bumper-to-bumper, so Google recommended this as a place on our way back to the airport. If I could improve the dish - and that would be hard to do - I would ask for a bit more of that delicious green chile Hollandaise sauce on top, which I would buy by the jug if I could. The smashed potatoes were excellent - very well seasoned and oiled and salty to go with the sweet from my main dish. My companion loved her hash dish and I scooped up some of her sauce to eat the last few bites of my cornbread. Loudness - This place was LOUD. They had a DJ spinning some great music choices - but I couldn't really converse with my wife during breakfast. I am well aware that I sound old and crotchety. I love the clubs - but this was like being in a club during brunch. Hygiene - The hostess at the front desk station was on her phone the entire 55 minutes we were waiting. When I asked her if I could get a Bloody Mary to save me from boredom during the wait - she told me to hang on. Then she sat on her phone and talked and texted for another 5 minutes or so. My wife dropped a pair of tongs on the floor from the Bloody Mary bar. Another lady picked them up, and told the lady behind the station that it had fallen on the floor. She didn't wash it - she just stuck them back in the jar where people are grabbing the food for their Bloody Marys. We got the French sticks and biscuts as an app. The biscuts were undercooked when first served to us, still dough inside. The French sticks were severed the same way, doughy and not fully cooked. The biscuts came back an 2 of the 3 were cooked fully. The drinks were very good, and highly recommend. The hash bowls were, ok. The flavors did not go well in my opnion. We decided to venture here on a Sunday. Needless to say there was a wait. We had used the call ahead so our wait was not as long as it would have been had we not had been put on the waitlist. It was noisy as one might imagine a Sunday brunch area would be with families gathering to share in the meals. My daughter ordered the s'mores latte. She said it was really good. I ordered the coffee it was good also. My daughter ordered the Banana Split French Toast. The pieces are huge and delicious. It came with a chocolate mousse that was wonderful although though French toast was really good by itself. The sticks are large crusted with cinnamon sugar, but light and fluffy inside and crispy on the outside. I ordered the regular fluffy pancakes along with the bacon. They too were delicious. I thought that since it was a Monday afternoon, it would be okay. Oh boy, was I wrong! We had a table of 8, and we had a window from 11-1pm for lunch. Its rare that we have so long. Things started off well as we got our drinks and ordered. Later...much later...two of our entrees arrived. Later...two more arrived. Later still...two more arrived. By the time the final two entrees arrived, many at the table were finished. We had to box up our food and leave quickly so we could return to work on time. We were told that there were only two chefs amd given a 10% discount. Which honestly, was a laughable compensation for this incredible level of a terrible experience. I only gave them 2 stars here because the food is actually good, which just adds to this tragedy. This makes two terrible experiences and two separate locations. This franchise should do some vast restructuring of how they run their business. If you are understaffed, close the restaurant! Either way, eight people will not be returning. read more
