Food was really good. Prices were amazing. The building is kinda small but parking is good. Service was great and the owner is very friendly. They played great music. Very tasty and will return.

We came in town and needed some food so we stopped here! So glad we did! Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time!!! Highly recommend! The green salsa in the beginning is AMAZING! Tastes like it had avocado in it. It was different, but really yummy! I ordered The verde enchiladas for my main and hubby for shrimp tacos! The tomatillo sauce was so good! His shrimp tacos had bacon in it which gave it a nice smoky flavor and crunch! Overall we were very happy when we left!

It was my last night in Texas and we wanted Mexican food. I lowkey wanted to try Tex-Mex to see how bad it was but decided to go with this place instead. The great reviews and delicious looking photos led us to this spot. Upon entering during dinner time on a weekday night, we were greeted and seated right away. Place seemed really deserted but had plenty of seating inside. There was a funky smell inside but oh well, we were hungry and not in the mood to go to any other subpar Tex-Mex spot in the immediate area. We were informed that they don't have waters on tap and only Ozarka bottled waters for guests. It tasted sort of like Arrowhead but a little better. I wouldn't trust tap water at this establishment anyways so maybe that's better for us. We were served chips with a side of two salsas. The chips were really stale and salty. The spicier green salsa seemed fresh but the pico de gallo seemed a bit old. Had the Enchiladas Verdes for myself that came with a side salad, Mexican rice, and beans. Opted to get pollo with my enchiladas and that was very dry. The verde salsa was honestly not bad but there was so little on one end of the enchilada. The rice was hard. The beans were extremely bland. The side salad which consisted of shredded lettuce and tomato was bland. Our server was on the passive-aggressive side. She seemed really pissed off and gave us an attitude while serving us. Being the only non-Mexican in the restaurant could've been the issue but let's not think that way. Sure, living in Southern California, there are so many great Mexican establishments, even the more Tex-Mex type of restaurants, but this place was a total shame. Food wasn't bad but it was definitely way under par, especially for a place with such high ratings. Note to self: Do not eat Mexican food in the Houston area.

We tried Taqueria Chalupas for the first time this past May when headed back home from Galveston. Last Saturday we couldn't pass up the chance to stop again when headed home from our cruise and this time brought the family. I always hate telling our kids how good someplace is and overselling/overhyping it but as suspected Tony and his team at Taqueria Chalupas did not disappoint. We were greeted at the door and sat immediately. Their red, fresh marinated salsa along with a nice spicy green salsa made with fresh fried (blistered) roasted jalapeños salsa, which is my all time favorite. Five of us ordered the fajitas street tacos with onions and cilantro which came with frijoles a la charra. Best beans we've ever had! Not mushy and the bacon and chorizo flavor gave it a nice flavor. Between all of us we had lengua, al pastor and beef fajita. They were all delicious! Thanks Tony for another great experience!

Awe, becoming a local favorite....i tried the Chalupa Mexicana. I think I died I went to tostada heaven! One large 10" with all the fixings, Crema, Oaxaca cheese, fajita chicken, lettuce, maters, fresh sliced avocado. My bro and his girl shared the fajitas, how boring. Our waitress Julianna, Que magnifico. This place is great, nice atmosphere and a good beat to shake your legs to. Estaba delicioso!

Pozole (got it to go and put in my own bowl)

I got the large pozole and it was amazing! The meat was so tender and the broth was extremely flavorful. Highly recommend

First time here for breakfast. Wow! You can still get a hearty, fresh, hot breakfast for $5.99. We didn't have much time to spend so we appreciated the fast service. We ordered the Mexicana (scrambled eggs with jalapeño, onion, and tomatoes) . It came with chips and salsa, refried beans and potatoes. We added a cactus taco which my husband loved. The salsas were deliciously spicy. The only water they served was bottled. Had my meal not been so inexpensive, I'd been annoyed. Great breakfast!!

Definitely a solid five stars for this place. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Everyone working was attentive. Parking was a breeze. Highlights: the jalapeño salsa was AMAZING! I'm thinking of it right now. Creamy and spicy. Yum. Everything we ordered was good and came out hot. Adult and child approved. I'm still thinking about all the food we had and wish I was there to eat it.

this spot was FIRE! As someone who loves eddie v's, ocean prime, and joey uptown- this spot is it! The margarita had me so lit! Let me also not forget to mention the queso dip with the chips. This spot is the best Mexican food I've had in the Clearlake area! Service is great and as you can see, I literally destroyed the street tacos! COME HERE!

Probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants out there. Surprisingly it's not in the neck of my woods but in the Webster area. There are no frills about this spot; just a hole in the wall that serves excellent food & provides decent service. Whoever is cooking in the back cooks with love & actually seasoned their food. That person needs to be there forever. We started off with their chips & salsa. It came out hot and fresh. The red salsa was okay but their spicy green sauce was delicious. It packed a good amount of heat & it was seasoned very nicely. I also ordered the horchata as my drink & I thought it was quite refreshing. A bit on the sweeter side but it had good cinnamon flavor. My BF & I decided to order the Combo fajitas for two & I added shrimp as well. The chicken, beef & shrimp was seasoned to perfection & also cooked nicely as well. Both the chicken and beef were tendered and not dry. It also came with rice, guacamole & frijoles charros. The rice was okay, the guacamole was good but my favorite was the frijoles charros. It had a soup like consistency & it was just very comforting to eat. Definitely good for a hangover or if you're not feeling well. Overall, it was a very good experience. This is probably one of the better hole in the wall Mexican spots. I recommend everyone to give it a try if you're around the Webster area. I definitely can't wait to come back.

This review has great energy--you just need it tightened and cleaned 1000 dé cinco estrellas!…read more We visited El Jefe Pollo Asados (620 Nassau Rd in Webster) after a long day of touristy activities, exhausted, with a group of seven--including picky kids. We had so many restaurant options but chose this place because of the high ratings... and I'm so glad we did. I'll be honest--when we first arrived, I wasn't impressed with the outside or the area. I was a little hesitant going in. But the moment we walked through the doors, everything changed. The place felt welcoming, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere--yes, a little loud--but in a good way. It's that lively Mexican vibe: music, micheladas, carne asada... all of it. We were just tired, so I think I noticed it more. Now let's talk about the food... I ordered the Maestro Plate but swapped the meat for short rib costillas--and OH. MY. GOSH. These were hands down some of the best costillas I've ever had. Juicy, tender, packed with flavor. I cleaned those bones completely--every single bite. The dish was served with perfectly grilled "nopales" and queso panela, que ricura! Ahhh, and of course the charro beans and rice that I barely made a dent in. The portions? HUGE. Two of us shared one plate and still had leftovers--and we can eat! Now this part says everything: my grandson, who is on the spectrum and very picky, ordered pollo asado... and he tore into it. No complaints, no hesitation--he finished his entire plate. That alone speaks volumes. My daughter had the birria (and she's a birria critic), and even she couldn't finish her plate because of how generous the portion was--but she said it was full of flavor and really good. My older grandson (big growing boy with an equally big appetite) had a birria quesadilla--again, huge portion--and even he couldn't finish it, which never happens. To top it all off, the owner surprised us with a complimentary dessert--warm, soft, pillowy sopapillas with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. The kids were FULL... and still devoured every last bite. Not a crumb left. And let's talk about pricing... honey. Compared to Austin? This was a steal. I was honestly shocked at how affordable it was for the quality and portion sizes. Amazing food, generous portions, great service, and a place that turned my hesitation into loyalty. They've earned our business--100%. We will absolutely be back next time we're in town.

I don't care if you're going for breakfast, brunch, or lunch... it's brunch and you're enjoying yourself. The atmosphere is fun. I don't know what it is, maybe the nostalgic music that was playing or just that brunch is a whole entire vibe. Could've been that I was just excited to celebrate our anniversary... whatever it is, I liked it. Our waitress was great. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but it started with a V. The menu options sounded so good that I struggled to decide what I wanted. I ultimately decided to go with the Croque Madam with over-easy eggs, and let me tell you, I was so happy with my choice... and the fact that I had leftovers. We had reservations at a fancy restaurant that night that I was excited to try, but I was seriously tempted to cancel my reservations for the chance to eat my leftovers. I thoroughly enjoyed it the next day though. My husband got Huevos Rancheros which is one of his favorite things to get when we go on a cruise. He said this one far surpassed his sea day brunch favorite. It's been a week since our visit and I've already made brunch plans with the girls so I can go back. Ü

The sauce was mild, aromatic, salted enough and not too dense. The enchiladas were full cooked and tender. The cheese amount was enough to get some richness without being too cheesy or greasy. The chicken was plentiful and soft in feel adding nice bite and some protein vibes. The rice was subtle, fluffy and comforting. The refried beans were thankfully chunky with a touch of pudding feel, not too smooth. They also had a very unique spice in them too, which was good. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. I also plan to try their chipotle and spinach chicken enchiladas on future visits when in the area. Chips and salsa were pretty standard, but still good. The place feels authentically Mexican, which is a nice change-up from all of the Tex-Mex places that are so common. The music and decor is all on point! Service was above and beyond as well. Even for a Sunday at lunch time, the waiters were constantly checking on us to make sure our drinks were topped off and to make sure we didn't need anything. 9/10 would definitely go back !…read more I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, and both were really good. Personally, I enjoyed the chicken more. It had amazing flavor and was perfectly cooked. The steak was good too, but it had more of a barbecue taste, which just isn't my personal preference I also heard the table next to me. Tell the waiter that they preferred the chicken over the filet mignon, which just goes to show that their chicken is superior. Next time, I'd probably stick with just the chicken fajitas. Let's talk about the sauces because they deserve their own moment. The green sauce that came with the chips was AMAZING. So fresh and flavorful. The red sauce was also really good -- both paired perfectly with the chips. For rice, I tried both the cilantro rice and the Mexican rice. They were both solid, but I liked the Mexican rice just a little more. One thing to keep in mind: toppings for fajitas are an extra charge. I got the garlic, onion, and Serrano topping with cheese -- and they do not play when they say it's spicy! It was delicious but very spicy. Also, it's a $5.99 upcharge, which is easy to miss. And heads up: they mix the Serranos into the cheese, so you can't really remove them once it's served. If you're sensitive to heat, I'd recommend asking for the Serrano peppers on the side. The service was extraordinary -- super attentive and welcoming. The place was packed, but there was still plenty of parking, which was a plus. I didn't order drinks this time, but they looked really good. I'll definitely be back, especially for Margarita Monday -- $5 margaritas all day sounds like a deal I can't pass up. Overall, amazing food, great service, and a fun vibe. I'll absolutely be coming back!

They also give you the choice between their house rice which is your typical Mexican rice or a cilantro greenish rice that I believe has a few bits of pork or ham in it. I chose the cilantro rice and it was perfectly cooked, seasoned and delicious. My cousin had 1 grilled fish taco plate and the same bean and rice sides I had and she also loved her food. The ambience, food, and great service make this the perfect dinner spot before a movie and a great start to the weekend!
