Drove all the way down to Webster just to try this place (before they freaking opened downtown! But also so glad) and still thought it was worth it. Can't beat $25 for 5 rolls. And they were amazing, chef was attentive so seaweed was perfectly crisp. Got warm little hand towels too. So nice
Still some of the freshest and high quality sushi in the Bay Area. Also some of the most reasonably priced for the high quality. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The chef is definitely a master at his craft. If you haven't been you need to make a stop in asap.
Come here great prices! The only thing missing is a cocktail menu, they do have a few drinks there. The layout of the inside was bar like similar to other hand roll places. They don't have dessert but they are near dessert spots. I actually really enjoyed their rolls the seaweed wrap was crunchy and the inside was warm and you could taste each individual flavors inside the roll. I tried the 5 roll set Salmon Fatty tuna melts in your mouth with the right amount of flavors Crab thick and meaty Spicy scallop loved that you could get that hint of spicy from the seasoning Yellowtail I tried the yellowtail crudo in ponzu sauce Salmon crudo in mayo based sauce and tuna crudo in chili oil. The yellowtail crudo was my favorite. The ponzu sauce really brightened the dish with a hint of lemon zest. The salmon crudo was my least favorite only because it was a thicker sauce and heavier so it overpowered the salmons flavor. The tuna crudo was pretty good though I wonder if they could blend the ponzu sauce with the chili oil and it would've kicked it up a notch. I also tried the lobster roll which was not the typical one from the menu I tried the butter lobster. That one was my second favorite.. you could taste the quality of the lobster. They drizzle the butter on top and wrap it up. Rating: 5 stars Service was great the manager was there and she was very attentive.
I've had sushi like this but only in Houston. Tbh, this place beats Handiez, hands down! My husband and I walked in for an early dinner around 5 and the parking lot was parked but not the restaurant. When we walked in we were treated by Athena, who really made the whole experience! As time went on it stared to fill up quick! Athena has great hospitality! I had high expectations as an amateur food critic and picky sushi lover. Koyo exceeded my expectations and gained a new fan! We got the 5 hand roll, Tuna Crudo, YellowTail truffle crudo, cucumber salad, and an extra scallop hand roll (because it was tooooo good). We started with the Salmon hand roll. I'm very picky about salmon, it's usually too fishy. This salmon was fresh, cold, and fantastic. I actually preferred it over the fatty tuna hand roll, which was our second. We then got the blue crab roll, this was more of a blue crab salad. It was mixed with a very light sauce I believe. Almost chicken salady texture. A little fishy but now overwhelming. Then came our favorites, the spicy scallop roll and truffle yellowtail. The spicy scallop roll isn't actually spicy, but packed with plump diced scallops tossed lightly in a bright cliantro cream sauce before wrapped in the seaweed. It was so good we ordered another! The truffle yellow tail was also bright and melted in your mouth. Get the four sauces to try! The chili crunch was our favorite!!! Side note: compared to other hand roll bars. This place did not smell bad like a fish market. The seaweed was CRISPY and mellow and not overpowering. The decor was light and the little crab chopstick holders were a cute touch. I was truly truly impressed and can't wait to visit again. Shout out to Athena for making the experience fantastic.
The quality for the price that you get is amazing. I got the one of the handroll sets where you get 5 rolls for $25. It comes with a salmon, fatty tuna, crab, spicy scallop, and yellowtail roll. The ratio of rice to fish was really generous. There were some unique garnishes that I had not tasted before. I believe it was either the scallop or yellowtail roll that had a really earthy taste to it and it was really good. The place was not too crowded but we also did come at an odd time and during the weekday. Seating is bar style and service was great!
So happy there's a hand roll place on our side of town now. Very clean, attentive staff, and a simple menu which I prefer. I usually just go for the 5 hand roll set which makes each hand roll $5 each which I feel is a fair price. My only gripe is that you can't mix and match and if you decide to go away from the sets they cost maybe a $1-$3 extra. Overall the fish quality is excellent and the rice and seaweed all pair well. For an extra $1 you can get a bowl of chili oil crunch/other condiments to add to your hand roll and they don't skimp out! I feel it's a good idea to shell out the extra $3 to get the flight of 4 dipping sauces and see what's your favorite !!
Koyo Hand Roll Bar is a handroll and more restaurant located in Webster. I have been a few times, and it's a must visit when I stop by to see my family in Pearland/Webster now! The seating is in a U-shape around the sushi bar, and although it looks like limited seating, I have been able to secure a spot each time, even with a party of six. I do think you should call ahead to see if there's room for a spontaenous large party or even make a reservation. I usually get the five set handroll, which comes with handrolls consisting of salmon, fatty tuna, crab, spicy scallop, and yellowtail. I also like to get the chili oil crunch sauce, which I put on top of each bite of my rolls to add an extra crunchy texture. The yellowtail and fatty tuna handrolls are my favorite. The food comes out pretty efficiently, and service and quality has been consistent each time. I think I prefer this place to other handroll locations within the inner loop of Houston, since it's not as super crowded all the time, and the ingredients taste fresh and are very consistent each time. Koyo is definitely a nice addition to the Webster area, and I definitely will be visiting more!
Great vibes and so affordable and way more worth it compared to Handies Douzo. The yellowtail handroll was a favorite as well as the spicy scallop. Staff is super friendly as well and the interior is beautiful! They gave a cute sticker freebie as well which was a nice surprise.
I came here on a Sunday in the afternoon, for the first time. Easy to locate in a strip center near a Jinya Ramen. There was only 1 other person waiting for take-away so I essentially had the place to myself. It's a cutesey intimate place, decorated simple and modern with 1 sushi counter. I asked the server if it was always this quiet, she stated it's busier for lunch and dinner, but in between it's pretty calm. I love that they have service all day 11am to about 10pmish. Which is great, so you can go during offpeak times. Sometimes restaurants limit themselves to only dinner, or open to 11am to 2p then close until 5p etc. I wonder if they will make a HH in the future? Food- I decided on the 5-set. Salmon, fatty tuna, crab, spicy scallop, and yellowtail. Ultimately my fav was the yellowtail, but the salmon and crab were pretty tasty. 5 for $25 is a pretty great deal, but is is the 'burbs. Service- was great, had a nice chat with my server. She was very warm and inviting. And was a young college student working for the summer. I will definitely return.
Fast, easy, laid back. Great food and ambience. Perfect date night or quick pick me up for yourself or with a friend. Servers are sweet and the sushi chefs are observant. They wait until you're done with your roll to make the next one so the hand rolls don't get soggy.
Came in Sunday afternoon and it was pretty empty. The host and chef greeted us and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. The interior was nicely decorated and full of mirrors. This is the third handroll place I tried in the houston area and I would say it is my favorite! The quality of it matches the other and while the menu might be a bit smaller I was only there for the set menu. The 5 set is so worth it. The size of the handroll was just filling enough and I enjoyed the garnishes inside each of the rolls. For the spicy scallop it wasn't your usual spicy mayo sauce, but whatever it was I loved it more. Salmon, toro, crab, and yellow tail were all great as well. Hope they get more business soon because they deserve it! A nice addition to the southwest area. 8.9/10
I came in for lunch really enjoyed the hand rolls I chose to go with the 5 roll option, my favorites were the tuna and salmon the scallop was my least favorite but still good. They soy sauce was a bit on the salty but still tolerable over all I really enjoyed trying each roll now I know what I liked next time I stop by. Ambiance was nice music a bit on the loud side but I mean it's ok. Service was good server explained options overall very good.
Good quality handrolls. I got the 3 for $15 and all the rolls were so tasty! It's a pretty good deal but I do wish it was a little more filling for $15. I recommend getting the $3 for 4 sauces, all the sauces were amazing. My favorites were the chilli oil and the spicy mayo. I also got the scallop crudo, very unique and refeshing flavor.

I was a bit skeptical after hearing mixed reviews from my friends; they either love it or hate it. I waited for the hype to die down before trying them out. Started off with the new Sakani Crudo, and wow, I think I need to order this every time now. I just love the salmon & crab combo. We each got the 5 handroll set for $25 (which is actually well-priced compared to other places). Everything was fresh and yummy. I really like the truffle yellowtail. We also got an extra brown butter lobster and it was the perfect end to the meal. Well-priced, fresh and yummy. You'll definitely see me back. read more

Koyo was one of those places that completely exceeded our expectations. As sushi lovers, we're always searching for places that truly stand out, and Koyo was such a great surprise. We started with the Salmon Crudo and Scallop Crudo, and both were outstanding. The Salmon Crudo was my absolute favorite. The garlic aioli with the fresh salmon was phenomenal, and the hint of lemon zest tied everything together perfectly. It was one of those dishes where every bite makes you pause because it's just that good. The Scallop Crudo was equally delicious. The tamarind ponzu sauce was incredible--bright, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sweetness of the scallops. We also ordered the Salmon, Fatty Tuna, Scallop, Tuna, and Lobster hand rolls. Everything tasted exceptionally fresh, but the Lobster Roll stole the show. I couldn't resist dipping it into both the scallop crudo sauce and the garlic aioli from the salmon crudo, and wow... those combinations were absolutely incredible. I may have accidentally created my own perfect bite! What impressed us most was how fresh every piece of fish tasted. Nothing was overly complicated or covered up with heavy sauces. Every ingredient had a purpose, and the quality really spoke for itself. If you're looking for incredibly fresh sushi with creative flavors that enhance--not overpower--the seafood, Koyo is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Texas. read more

Food -10/10 It was so good. Light, refreshing, flavorful. Service - 8/10 It took a while between rolls and we had to wait a while for our waters to be refilled. A lot of times it was just waiting but when someone did serve us it was great. In total we were there over an hour fo something that probably shouldn't have taken as long as it did. Ambiance - 9/10 It's pretty inside but the seats hurt. There's no back support and they're small. And since we were there a while my butt started hurting by the end. They aren't the comfiest stools. I'd still go back. read more

Was in the area and had been wanting to try this after seeing it online. Ordered take out. They said 15 minutes online but it was probably closer to 20 minutes, which was not a big deal at all. They were super nice and the restaurant is big and spread out, like those classic sushi bars where you can watch the chefs work. I got the salmon crudo and the 5 hand roll sampler. The salmon was delicious, 5 pieces of salmon paired with a creamy garlic aioli. It feels kind of small for $12 but it was quite good and probably about expected price for the quality of salmon nowadays. The hand roll sampler box is an amazing $25 and comes with salmon (great, loved it), fatty tuna (yummy, nice mix), crab (tasty), yellowtail (initially strange but good mix ins, and spicy scallop (didn't try this one but my mom liked it a lot). I'm glad I followed the advice of other reviews to get the spicy chili garlic crunch. That really elevated the rolls, adding a layer of depth with the spice and texture with the crunch. I also used the leftover garlic aioli from the salmon crudo as part of the sauce and that also worked super well. The to go packaging is super nice and they have well designed plastic rolls to keep the seaweed crispy, while the rolls and rice were tightly packed and full of fish. Definitely a must! Their menu is kind of small. Will need to try eating in next time! read more

Thank you for the great review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the salmon…
Came in between lunch and dinner, so to be fair there wasn't many people dining in at the time I went (perfect for me!) Place is fairly new, it was mentioned grand opening was last Saturday and they've been open for 3-4 weeks now. I came across this place on IG ad, and I've been loving handrolls recently, so when I saw the menu I definitely knew this was up my alley. $25 for the 5 handroll set was a steal compared to handies/hando,etc. also got 2 crudos - Salmon: 9.5/10 Fatty tuna: 10/10 Crab: 10/10 Spicy scallop 9.5/10 Yellowtail 10/10 (my favorite one!) Yellow Tail Crudo: 9.5/ 10 Salmon Crudo: 10/10 (I loved the garlic aioli in this!! I thought it paired so well w/ the lemon zest) Their seaweed is delicious and crunchy. You can taste the freshness of the fish, and every bite will be absolute bliss. Special recognition to Chef Leo, he was so detailed oriented when making the crudos I can tell he is passionate in his craft, and overall kind making sure all the handrolls came out right. The employees too were also attentive and interactive. The place was super clean, organized, and I loved the seating arrangement with also the gorgeous mirrors on the wall. Makes a good evening setting for date nights, girls night, etc. plenty of parking. Definitely will come back again! I will drive near and far for this place because dare I say, if handies/hando was your favorite, you might change your mind like I did. Bringing everyone I know here next time. Thank you guys!! read more
We found this place from an ad on Instagram! Didn't know what exactly to expect. Upon entry, the place was extremely clean with a nice interior design. Lots of seating around the chef's area. Reminds me a lot of Handies Dozo. I ordered the 5 hand roll set and my husband ordered the 4 hand roll set. We also ordered salmon crudo to share. I got full super quickly after 5 hand rolls. Everything was great! From food to the service. I would definitely come back to try more items! read more
My favorite hand rolls in the League City area! The fish is fresh and flavorful while the nori remains crisp and crunchy, and the hand rolls are delicious the moment they are put in front if you since they are made to order. The servers here are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is small but cozy, often with natural sunlight during the day or ambient lighting in the evening. My favorite item to order is the 5 set of hand rolls, which consist of salmon, fatty tuna, crab, spicy scallop, and yellowtail. It is a nice choice if you are looking to have a variety of different fish to taste during your meal. My favorite of the 5 is the salmon hand roll! read more

I'm so excited that my sister and I stumbled on this little spot. It's very clean, brightly lit and modern with stools around a central area for chefs to make rolls for you as you order. There was no wait at all because it literally opened Monday, so we also got the benefit of almost everyone's full attention. Each item was so fresh, and the rice was so warm and seasoned wonderfully. The nori was was so crisp because it's made fresh and handed to you. Fave items: salmon crudo, yellowtail hand roll, spicy scallop hand roll. The spicy scallop had such a different spice profile than what I was expecting--it tasted a bit like my mom's chicken karahi. So you know I had to get two of those. I can't wait to see this place get busier and the attention it deserves. read more

I just moved to the area and I've already been here twice and I cannot stop thinking about it. The staff is very friendly and attentive, this is a good place to sit and talk and enjoy your meal, not ideal if you're in a rush. It is also all bar seating so not super kid friendly, though I did see they have high chairs, just not a place I plan to bring my toddler, which is totally fine. The real star here is the sushi. Each piece is better than the last and I haven't had one I didn't like. I loved the flight of sauces to mix things up and despite it being a small menu, I wasn't missing anything. Every hand roll was well thought out and carefully made. My favorites were the fatty tuna, the enoki mushroom and the butter lobster. I will absolutely be back soon. read more

Ordered Koyo to go while I was in the area. It's located near Jinya and Gen off Egret Bay. The rolls were ready for pickup within 20 mins. The seaweed is packaged in a clear plastic sleeve to keep it perfectly crisp while the rice and sushi are rolled tight and compact. The fish in each roll was fresh. The crab hand roll is always one of my favorite at any hand roll restaurant but all were equally good. The hostess was super inviting and kind. You're greeted with a smile from when you walk in to when you walk out. Glad there's a solid hand roll place on the Southside of town. read more
Was invited to their soft opening last month. Owner, staff and chef, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing! The misses and I tried multiple hand rolls and enjoyed every last one. Didn't get to take much photos because the line was out the door, we didn't want to hold up service. Will definitely comeback. Come and show your support if you're in the Nassau Bay area. FYI parking maybe limited but don't let it discourage you from trying them out. read more
KOYO is the newest hand roll bar on the block. It offers a simple menu with decent prices. We were immediately greeted by the staff and got seated quickly. Our counter servers were super helpful and introduced us to the menu since it was our first time. The bf and I ordered the 5* and the 4* hand roll sets, which came with 1-2 of salmon, spicy tuna, fatty tuna, crab, spicy scallop, and yellowtail hand rolls between the both of us. The hand rolls are made fresh before us and best eaten immediately when the seaweed is still crunchy. The salmon is an absolute must and the star of the show. It comes with a bit of a crunch and hints of citrus. Not sure what's in it, but it was amazing. Both of our jaws were on the ground. Overall, a great, casual, fun, new establishment and I look forward to swinging by if I'm ever in the area again! read more
Stopped by around noon on a Sunday, and it wasn't very busy so we were seated immediately. I went with the four set, and my friend and I shared the salmon crudo. I've never had a sashimi appetizer with aioli before, but it was pretty yummy. The hand rolls were good as well - I was glad that their seaweed was crispy as I feel that's the sign of a good hand roll. The sets come out to $5 per hand roll, and that price feels alright but I honestly haven't gotten hand rolls in a while so I don't remember the standard. Service was nice. They also have hooks under the counter to hang your bags which I also always appreciate at hand roll/omakase places read more

Food- 4/5 Service- 5/5 Ambiance- 5/5 Food: Never been to a Hand Roll Bar before. The food was good, just not worth the $25 price tag for 5 rolls. Other than the price though, the rice is well seasoned, the seaweed is nice and crispy, and each fish I got was well prepared (I especially enjoyed the fatty tuna). Service/Ambiance: The staff was friendly and offered their advice whenever people in my party were stuck between ordering rolls. Ambiance is nice and modern but the chairs and layout are not overly accommodating for any party larger than 3 people. As part of the expanding shopping center of Gen and Jinya, Koyo offers a nice experience for smaller parties if you're not too hungry and looking for a quick bite. read more

My boyfriend & I came here for a late night dinner on a Saturday and really enjoyed it! We had salmon crudo, my boyfriend really liked the lemon zest on top. We were recommended to get the chili oil crunch from a friend and it made the rolls even better. Next we got the 4 hand roll set, and both ranked them from best to worst as: spicy tuna, salmon, (added the fatty tuna after but its 3rd), yellowtail, then crab! The whole staff were very sweet and attentive as well, the waitress even gave us cute Koyo stickers and her happiness was contagious! read more

New place in Clear Lake. The interior is very clean and minimalist, much like the food. It is a large U shape bar and they serve everyone straight from the bar. I went alone so I didn't mind. The menu was self explanatory, hand rolls with some shareables. The hand rolls were very tasty and filling. The food wasn't over the top extravagant and I appreciated that, good quality. The interesting part was there was a woman who was paid to talk to the customers. I wanted a quiet evening so I opted out of conversation but the other customers seemed to enjoy engaging in some back and forth. read more

Great experience at Koyo, Clear Lake definitely needs a hand roll restaurant! My mom and I truly enjoyed the rolls and the service from Emily. I will definitely be back when I visit my mom. Best of luck to you guys. read more
