My colleagues and I chose to have lunch at Chuy's thinking we'd be in and out in plenty of time. We arrived at opening (11:00 am) and our party of 12 was the second table seated. We ordered drinks (8 of which were water) and then waited 15 minutes to have our food order placed. Fifty minutes passed from our arrival until our food was served. As my food was handed to me, I asked for our checks. It still took 20 minutes for us to pay and leave. While the food was good as usual, service was lacking. We watched as our server visited with other employees instead of placing our order etc. We won't go there for lunch again, but I would stop in for dinner when I have plenty of time. read more

I honestly never really leave reviews but I really feel like the managers & owners of Chuy's needs to hear about our visit tonight. Originally, my husband & I were supposed to go eat somewhere else but plans changed & my husband suggested Chuy's in Plano. We got there & the place was packed & we honestly didn't think we'd get a table, but we went in anyways & immediately got sat. We got sat with Jess & she was AMAZING. The whole staff was like a huge team working together, filling up drinks, getting more chips & salsa, napkins, asking if we were okay. Jess, showed us the menu that they are trying out & suggested the pork belly tacos & my husband absolutely LOVED them, we really hope it'll be there next time, THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME. Before we left, Jess asked if she could pray over my baby & I, I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant. I was so shocked, that was the SWEETEST thing anyone has ever asked to do for us, usually it's just people saying "omg you're huge," lol, but Jess sat down beside me & held my hand, & not only prayed for a safe delivery, but a long life for my baby & I & our family. It was beautiful, it was so genuine & unexpected, you could tell she seriously meant something by this prayer, it wasn't just for show. She went on to tell us about the ministry she teaches at church & how she's trying to do the same for people in prison, which really REALLY meant something to me because my dad is in Prison & she wanted to give them hope & not a lot of people care for people in prison. I wish we could've tipped her a million times what we were able to, she was spot on, the best server we've ever had. Chuy's seriously needs to keep this woman, make her manager, or something! She is a huge blessing. She was so sweet & funny, & you don't really meet a lot of people like that anymore. I teared up after we prayed because I was in shock someone I've never met before seriously took the time out of their day to pray over my family & I wasn't just a customer they were serving. I highly recommend Chuy's off N. Central in Plano! Ask for Jess you will not be disappointed one bit, I really feel like everyone needs to meet someone as genuine as Jess. There was also another server running around in the same section she was in, he was who originally sat us down but I didn't catch his name. Where do I start. A group of friends and I came to Chuy's to celebrate my birthday. Our waiter I believe his name is Wesley. Extremely rude, and rushed us. First, kept reaching over me instead of walking over to the next person almost hitting me in the face numerous of times. Secondly, we asked for napkins and he brought out a couple, my friend asked for more napkins and he says, "I already bought some out" then walked away. Third, before everyone had their food he was bringing us our checks, clearing our table, and bringing out togo boxes. I like be vegetable enchiladas, and Chuy's is the only place around that NEVER overcooks their veggies. Their rice is always on point, and that's a little thing that often gets overlooked at other restaurants. Their salsa and guacamole are so fresh and perfect... and the jalapeño sauce is stellar! I love mixing the salsa, jalapeño sauce, and guacamole together and creating a magnificent wrap on one of their yummy corn tortillas. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed. On this night there were 12 of us and we had to wait for 30 minutes before being seated. Once seated, the complementary chips and salsa were laid out and of course we killed it. The salsa tasted very fresh and had a nice kick that I really like. After looking through their extensive menu, I decided on the Big As Yo Face chicken fajita burrito (10.99$) covered with boom boom sauce that was recommend by the server. After 10 mins, the food came out pipping hot and they weren't lying when they said the burrito was big as you face. The burrito itself was extra large and came with a side of rice that tasted great. The fajita chicken had great flavor and the combination of beans, rice, and the chicken wrapped in a fresh tortilla was spot on. The boom boom sauce that was drenched over the burrito made it tasted even better. The burrito could easily feed 2 people but of course I killed it. No wonder Chuy's is busy all the time. The ambience is totally tex/mex relaxed, service is cordial, competent and on point even when packed to the rafters. Food is flavorful and the only reason for my 3 star review is the lack of cleanliness. Although our table had been cleaned, the chandelier above it was so dirty it obviously hadn't been cleaned in months or maybe ever. I started looking around & noted the metal palm tree & decorative fish hanging from the ceiling all needed at least a dusting, if not a little soap & water. Top Chuy's in the DFW area. The servers here are always great- though the host's are very young and awkward in comparison. The food tastes better and is more consistent than any other location. Update: We have visited this restaurant twice in the last 2 weeks or so and the service has gone from fantastic to atrocious. In a previous visit, someone in my party mention a food allergy which had been accommodated very politely multiple times in the past. The wait person 'preached' in such a condescending and off putting manner- insinuating there was no food on the entire menu appropriate- that we almost got up and left..... which was further bizarre as she contradicted all previous experiences. This evening it took 3 attempts to make a 'to go' order- the line kept clicking off. When we got there to pick it up, there was literally one other takeout order and zero customers at the counter. We witnessed, not once, but twice the phone ringing and she literally lifted the handset and hanging up without answering- which now explains why the line kept cutting out. Met up with a couple of friends for dinner and decided on Chuys out of the slew of Tex-Mex restaurants along 75 in Plano. I've had It a few times prior at the other DNT location so figured it was a safe bet. We get sat in the cool hubcap room and soon get greeted by our waitress. She did not want to be there and did not try to hide the fact. My friend drinks his soda super fast and needed a couple of refills which seemed to pain her. The food came out luke warm, most likely sitting out for a bit before making it to the table. We ask for the bill and I ask for a to go box because I don't waste food. She asked my friends if they wanted one and both said no thanks with half their fajitas still on the platter. She asked them are you sure a few times and they said no, it's OK because it was not good. She says OK and grabs the check instead of investigating the issue further. Not a problem because we weren't fishing for a free meal, just giving an honest answer. read more

Dirty,dirty,dirty! We had come in on a Friday night with a table of 6. We were told the wait would be 45mins to 1hr. They texted us within 10 mins and we were seated. We were handed our menus but there are no drinks listed on their menu. We asked for a drink menu and were brought one. I opened the menu and there was mold under the plastic cover (mold was black in color). The mold wasn't just on one page but on every page. I got up walked straight to the manager on duty and handed him the menu with the mold. He apologized and said he would bring a clean one. He never came over. I'm going to start off by saying the Nacho Car is what's up. Any time I can eat for free, you've got a fan. They kept running out of bowls, but I can see why. Absolutely awesome idea. So, they have a Happy Hour from 4 to 7 pm Monday through Friday. It is $4.75 house margaritas. I'm not a big margarita girl. I have to be in the mood to drink them. Definitely wasn't in the mood when we went, so went with my old faithful... a vodka soda. Vodka isn't on Happy Hour so we just paid regular price. That's fine with me though. Getting free food basically made up for this. Service was friendly. They have a nice patio as well. We sat out there at first, but it was too hot. They allowed us to come in and sit at a table in the bar area. I would like to come back during better weather so we could make use of the patio. I'd also like to come back to try some of the food that isn't Nacho Car nachos. Looks like they have some good menu items. This is also a very kid friendly place. Kids everywhere. Definitely the spot to take your kids, especially when they have the Nacho Car (which is also Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 pm). The only downside to this place is how overly crowded it was, especially the line by the Nacho Car. I'm sure during other hours it is less chaotic. Can't knock them for this though. I finally tried Chuy's in Plano last week and it sucked!. Ordered the appetizer platter so I could try a bunch of stuff. I read the menu carefully no where did it say quesadillas had cilantro in them - which they did. EW. Queso was good, nachos were edible, flautas were blah. Torillas were good. Ordered a #6. Wasn't impressed with any of it. Didn't like the enchilada sauce, the chalupa was as blah as my flauta, and the soft taco was edible but covered in refried beans (is it too much trouble to put it on another small plate - REALLY?). Rice and beans. eh. The waiter came by to ask if I wanted a box - and I said no, but he left my plate there. Mind you we're at a small 2 top table so I REALLY could have used having the nasty food/plate out of my way, but that didn't work out. He dropped the check and Aimee's box and we didn't see him for at least 15 min. We flagged another server down so that we could leave this place at some point and she somehow split our bill and somehow my half was $3 more. Especially when Cafe Adobe was across the street in Houston. The jalapeño ranch that was served with the chips, and their queso were their best redeeming qualities. And after eating here with the ex... and seeing someone actually eat enchiladas with eggs on top, nothing else could taste good ever. Well.. we finally tried the Chuy's in Plano on Monday night. What a disaster. We shared the appetizer platter which was probably the best of the meal. Our waiter was very out there, we had to repeat our order a couple of times.Then our #6 combo meals arrived. They just didn't do it for me. At least Jenn didn't have eggs on her's. After we had both decided we were done. The waiter brought me a box and left our check. We pretty much immediately put our credit cards down and then we waited. About 10 minutes went by and I got up and went to the restroom. I came back to the table, and our cards were still sitting there. We waited some more. Finally I called another waitress over and told her we would like to pay sometime today so that we could leave, it had been over 15 minutes. She took our cards, our waiter came back with the receipts, clueless and not a word about the wait. We had told her to split the bill down the middle, yet $15.50 was put on my card and $18.01 was put on Jenn's. Um, yeah... what kinda math is that? Needless to say, the only reason I left a tip was so that my part of the bill was equal to Jenn's. If he had split the bill correctly, he may have not gotten that. Mealwise, I ordered beef tacos and they were quite tasty. The beef was seasoned really well and had a good flavor. The chicka chicka boom sauce is fantastic here with their enchiladas. Even in Plano, this place is always packed! But I don't mind the wait, so when our (large) group was quoted a 90 minute wait time, we didn't really flinch. Instead, we found our way to the bar to watch some sports & pass the time. Oh, and to get booze, of course. Connor, one of the awesome bartenders, hooked us up with a few stout Santa's Helpers - a top-shelf margarita that is blue in honor of the Dallas Cowboys playoff game. All of the margaritas were stellar & he even whipped up a killer (mostly) blue mojito for my friend. We were actually sad when our table was ready so quickly (only 45 minutes instead of 90) because we had to leave him behind. Fortunately, we got an equally awesome waiter - Josh. He was fantastic, even though we had him running 10 different ways at once. He was fun, personable, & lightening quick to refill drinks & bring us what we needed. He got a little mixed up on splitting the checks, but it all worked out in the end. I ordered the Baja Tacos with shrimp, which were super tasty especially with their creamy jalapeno ranch dressing. They came with friend shrimp though, so next time I'll have to remember to ask for grilled. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals & we definitely tore thru some chips & salsa during our wait. We all left a little bit fatter, so we'll call it a success! The place was a bit crowded for my liking, but it was a Saturday night so it wasn't a complete shock. We have been here several times for lunch and dinner. It is consistently excellent. It starts at the front door where we are always greeted like family. The table service is very attentive and friendly. We have tried several dishes on the menu and all of them have been very good. My wife loves tortilla soup and she says their is the best she has had in Texas. Same for the crisp tortillas. We are CA transplants and are very used to good Mexican food but TexMex is a bit different. Of all the places we have tried in a year and a half, we like this as one of the best. Currently, they are offering Hatch chili special menu items. Today I had the Bang Bang Burrito. Holy burrito, bring a friend, this this is huge. I brought half of it home in a box. Excellent flavor if you like it spicey! Funny, we had a chain of Chuy's in California that are pretty hurtin. The logo is very similar, so we thought this one was part of the same group. Creamy Jalapeno Ranch...need I say more?? I could literally drink that stuff out of a bottle. So Chuy's is, in my opinion, pretty much the best Tex-Mex there is. The free chips, queso, and salsa (plus cheap margaritas) during happy hour made it one of my favorite afternoon stops during college. My favorite dish is easily the Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom enchiladas. Pulled-chicken wrapped in corn tortillas and covered in a spicy queso-like-sauce. Yum. The only reason I have to give this location a 4/5 is because they don't carry all of the delicious flavors of margaritas that Chuy's has to offer (mainly the mango, which is awesome). Nope, you'll have to travel as far as the Knox location for one of those. But overall, the place is pretty freaking-fantastic. read more

Chuy's is my favorite Tex-Mex. It helps that on our first visit to the Knox-Henderson location, we had a very enthusiastic server who was so excited about us first timers trying their food. She brought out free items, hooked us, and we've loved them since. We get a variety of things here, but looove their jalapeno ranch sauce stuff. The chicka boom boom enchiladas are good. Their margaritas are good, and the sopapillas come out warm and delicious with honey dipping sauce. The space is also really fun, with crazy decor and and a fun atmosphere. The down side is that they are often packed and it can be hard to hear conversation. As Chuy's grows, it has more of a chain restaurant feel. Still, really really good Tex Mex. read more

Ever since the BF introduced me to Chuy's back in our college days... this has always been my first choice for tex mex. To this day I still haven't found another tex mex place I enjoy more. The queso is excellent and definitely has flavor. It's really creamy and doesn't harden very fast. They also feature a bunch of other sauces you can sample or have with your meal. Creamy jalapeno is probably the most popular. It's basically a spicy ranch that you can dip with your chips, tacos, flautas, etc. Honestly you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have daily specials which features a unique dish for the day or whatever is in season especially when it's hatch chili season. They offer 2 different kinds of rice, mexican is the standard but if you like something a bit more spicy you can always try the hatch chili rice which doesn't cost extra to substitute. My personal favorites are the cheese enchiladas with the tex mex sauce, the chicken flautas, and the steak fajitas. They have the best happy hour! We eat at Chuy's a lot - in Austin, Round Rock and The Woodlands (Texas) - but this was my first time at the one in Plano. We know the food well so were surprised to find changes, not improvements-just changes, to the food. First thing was the famous Jalapeño-Ranch dip. There was an unmistakeable taste of mayonnaise in this normally delicious dip. The added eggy and slightly sour taste of the mayo did not improve the dish. Second, the Tex-Mex sauce on my food was sweet! What-the-hell, sweet!??!! Chuy's has a successful formula; why are they messing with it here? If you like Tex/Mex you will love Chuy's. The food is fresh, the chips are thin and served up warm and toasty, and the margaritas are very tasty with a nice kick! The salsa is absolutely awesome and tastes like someone just gathered the ingredients from a hidden garden out back. My favorite dishes are the Elvis Memorial Combo (You're not going to do anything but sleep after eating it though) and the Tortilla Soup. The atmosphere is also very cool and mirrors the location in Dallas quite a bit. It's a fun sort of eclectic looking place with hubcaps on the ceilings, freaky portraits on the walls, and very brightly colored stuff on the walls and such. Get there early or you will be walking down to Abuelo's and not enjoying yourself nearly as much!
