Minimal cheese in the Cheese Quesadillas
Bailey R.

If you are vegetarian, DO NOT order the queso!!! On the menu it reads "Blend of melted cheese, Green Chile & Ranchero Sauces. Add seasoned ground beef, guacamole & pico de gallo", so I assumed that it is vegetarian because you can just add meat if you want it. I thought it was a little strange that it didn't have the "V" symbol next to it like the other vegetarian options on the menu, but I proceeded to try to order it anyways. Thankfully I had already told the server that I am vegetarian, so he alerted me that the queso is, in fact, NOT vegetarian. Not sure why as he didn't explain it, but just warned me that it wasn't vegetarian friendly. This blew my mind because this is the ONLY Mexican restaurant I have been to where the regular queso is not vegetarian friendly. It actually really upset me because I love queso and there are already so few vegetarian options on the menu to begin with. What's more, the quesadillas that I ordered barely had any cheese in them. Disappointing. This is what prompted me to order a side of queso to make my quesadillas more cheesy, but alas, I wasn't able to do so. So my rating is based on the sole fact that they do not have queso that vegetarians can safely eat. The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Then they skimped out on the cheese in the quesadilla. What is happening?! I will not be returning to any Chuy's locations moving forward.

I've been multiple times, and the experience is always great! They start you off with free chips and jalapeño ranch dip. This alone makes it worth the trip. I also recommend the Chicka-chicka-boom-boom enchiladas. All of the waiters that I've had have been very friendly and have stayed on top of things. The decorations are also super fun. Also - they give themselves 5 stars on their own menu, and I can't find any reason to disagree!

Service here is always great even on a super busy night when we went. Food is good for texmex when you're just craving some Mexican food their margaritas are always good here as well Overall it is definitely a place to come if you have never been especially with their chips and salsa one of the main things that keep brining us back here

Good for what it is, Tex-Mex. Server was very friendly. Spacious location. Fair prices.

I love Chuy's, who doesn't! The green enchiladas, the nachos, the salsa and chips, the drinks! Parking is ok at this location. Price point is reasonable and the food is tasty. I judge a texmex based on the salsa and chips Their take out game needs improvement. Like make sure you give chips and salsa especially when the customer orders and extra pint. ‍ Hubs didn't check the bag, so I guess that's on him-next time he will.

Enchilada (Boom Chicka Chicken)

Came here since my friends recommended this as an authentic Tex-Mex and it was packed to the brim on a Friday night. Super family friendly. Got the world famous enchilada (boom chicka) and it was huge portion size w a delicious creamy sauce. We also got a steak burrito which also was very enchilada-esque vs a classic burrito; however, I much preferred the steak burrito over the enchilada. Table ordered a virgin pina colada that just came in a regular glass and looked a little sad. Guacamole could use slightly more seasoning as well Overall well run and streamlined. Great service and decent food. Will def be back!

I've been going to this Chuy's since I was a kid and considered it a fun part of my life. Tonight, my car got broken into in their parking lot directly in view of three of their cameras. I went inside to ask for the camera footage and was told none of their cameras actually work. What is the point of having cameras? I asked one of the nearby restaurants and they informed me that this is a common occurrence at Chuy's. Not only am I extremely disappointed but find this highly suspicious when you know break ins are high in your parking lot. That narrative sounds quite fishy.

I F'ING LOVE CHUY'S!!!! I love their "New Mexican Martini" (shaken not stirred). Their frozen margs are pretty righteous as well. I could bathe in their jalapeño ranch. Chips and dips to last you all night...but then...ya still gotta eat!! I used to swear by their Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas. The last time I had them they weren't great...so I went for the Elvis Presley memorial plate. The only thing I remember is that Elvis must have existed once and became reincarnated because I saw heaven while eating this. Melted cheese enchiladas, retried beans and rice, tacos...what's not to be a hunk a hunk a burning love? My husband loves their face sized burritos. And I cannot stress their Margarita game is ON POINT. Chuy's is a chains but when the locals tell you to go...you go.

Delicious chips and dips (free!)

If I rated on food alone, I would probably give this 3.5 stars; however, our server Josh made all the difference, so I had to bump up my experience to 4 stars. My friend and I came here because she lives in Houston and says that this is an authentic Tex Mex experience. The jalapeño cilantro dip was excellent; flavorful, fresh, and refreshing! The salsa was also great. We also ordered a small side of queso, which was plentiful and delicious! Their chips were also really tasty, light and crunchy! I wanted to pack up the leftover chips, and Josh took it to the next level by giving me a bag full with brand new salsa and jalapeño cilantro dip. For my main entree, I had the Tex-Mex enchilada, which Josh informed us they have an option with just one enchilada. This was the perfect size for my appetite. I have to say the enchilada was only ok; I've definitely had better. With Josh's recommendation, I also got a virgin pina colada. It was delicious! Not too sweet, light, and refreshing...exactly what I was hoping for. On top of the awesome service, Josh was extremely personable and friendly. It was also fun to see the kitschy decor here. From what my friend said, it is the authentic Tex Mex experience. For just the chips and dips alone, I would come back if I'm in the area again though I would likely try a different entree.

When I die, bury me in this Chuy's. I could swim in this creamy jalepeno dip while sipping frozen strawberry margs. Perfect spot for happy hour or date night with awesome service and good vibes! There's a reason I'm a regular here.

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Met the ladies here to celebrate, & break bread…read more Thank you Jamila for selecting this original location of the Original Ninfas, to host, (our last supper, before your relocation from Houston to Florida.). A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

Ambiance: upon walking in, it was chaos and sooooo many people standing up and sitting down. Walking around with drinks. I felt like I was in a club. A server made her way to me to take my Togo order. While waiting, I grabbed a drink at the bar and just made the happy hour cut off. Service was great as I was able to get my order and it was a large order. Everything was correct. The house margarita was ok, I wish I had gotten the hibiscus flavor. Order; Crab Tostadas Mixed Fajitas Snapper Mole Enchilada Ninfa 2 Tacos Margarita Mix The only thing I would order again is the crab tostadas and the beef fajitas. The chicken had no flavor at all. The charros beans and rice were not anything special. I was not a fan of either. Overall, we are not planning to order from here again. It just wasn't what Mark Weins made it seem like on his review. Also, whoever the driver was practically could not wait for me to turn around. Sorry, I had to take a pic. Very rude.

A Cali girl-lala enjoying some Tex Mex…read more While in HTX I was able to meet up with a friend from college. He mentioned margaritas (not pictured) and food! So we met at Candente. Upon walking in the restaurant was clean it was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but the aroma of the food! OMG! Our server was really nice and patient because my friend and I talked for about 30 minutes before we finally ordered our food. He has the beef enchiladas with rice and black beans. He cleaned his plate...literally not a grain of rice in sight! I had the smoked chicken verde enchiladas and WOW! What an amazing dish. I consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur especially being from California. I have always said Tex Mex?.....eeeeyuck! But Candente has changed my tune! I will definitely be back to visit when I return!

Glowing red. Burning. Candente…read more Let me start by saying that I'm not into Mexican food unless it's an auntie or grandma making it at their house. I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.

Parking can be challenging on weekends, but there is complimentary valet and a few extra spots in a lot across the street. There's interior and exterior seating, with cozy booths and tables. Service is friendly. Chips and salsa: Superica has some of my favorite chips, crispy and thin and perfectly fried. The avocado crema salsa and warm serrano pepper salsas are delicious with a mild kick. The bottled red salsa is fresh and green salsa packs a nice punch. Migas: Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips and cheese, choice of chicken versus chorizo on top, finished with fresh avocado. I really enjoyed this combination and the generous portion for the price. The eggs are well scrambled without being dry, and the pairing with cheese is proportional. The chicken was a touch dry, but some salsa solved that well. I enjoyed stuffing each component into a fresh tortilla and devouring it as a breakfast taco. Refried beans and rice: Really delicious. The refried beans are of the smoother variety without as much chunkiness, which I prefer, and topped with creamy cheese. I could have used a touch more tomato in the rice, but overall enjoyed the texture and flavor. Patatas with salsa roja, topped with egg: I enjoyed the flavors in this dish, but there was sooo much salsa. The potatoes were thus a little soggy, though still cooked well. The over medium egg was cooked nicely and complemented the potatoes with creamy yolk. Bacon: Really generous portion for $7 as a side, and cooked well. Crispy potatoes: I enjoy that these are fingerling potatoes smashed and roasted, but they could be crispier. They seem to be on the blander side on purpose to allow seasoning to taste, and I really like pairing them with the red bottled salsa provided at each table (probably due to their association with ketchup). Hotcakes: The literal star of every brunch, these hotcakes are consistently delicious. They're massive yet somehow cooked perfectly through so that they're fluffy and soft on the inside and just with a slight crunch on the outside. The pairing of the creamy warm (!!!) maple syrup is heavenly. Because of how huge these are, usually one is enough to share between two people, although they also come in stacks of two and three. For reference, we finished 3/4 of three between four healthy and hungry people and it wasn't for lack of trying. Whenever I crave weekend brunch, Superica is always a top option.
