Was in town visiting one of my good friends that was also in town for professional development. From the time we walked in the office we were greeted immediately by the manager, Nicole. Big smile and bright energy. Our server was Joy was was very courteous and attentive to our needs. She made sure we enjoyed our time there without having to worry about the food. At the same time, the manager made her rounds checking on customers to see if there was anything she could do to help The atmosphere was great for two old friends to catch up and talk about memories and upcoming plans. Chuy's is only "okay" in my book, but I'm just not a Tex Mex kinda person. Once you've had the real thing, it just doesn't compare. We had the chicken and beef fajitas, e just wanted to share a plate, but they charged us for the double. Also had the Chimichanga- there wasn't much of anything inside, justjust a lot of fried dough. The Chile con queso was tasty but made with velvet cheese not real cheese.. The regular salsa was good! With endless chips. They brought out another "salsa" it was sorta like green ranch dressing. Not sure how this place has somewhat decent reviews, to be perfectly honest. I rarely give out bad reviews - but when it warrants it, I will. The pros; the outdoor patio is really pretty - although they have fans blowing directly on you, so the napkins and anything not nailed down goes flying away. We were seated quickly. The food wasn't bad. Cons? It was expensive - the gauc was eight bucks, tasted spoiled, and was literally all lettuce underneath one meager scoop of gauc. Yikes. Our server literally gave no shits and would be walking away before we even had a chance to say what we were saying about our order. We had to ask probably five times for a refill on water and chips. So I've come a few times to chuys and don't get me wrong, the food is great. However, the level of service you receive at the bar depends on if you're familiar or not. The ambiance is overall traditional Tex Mex. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants because I love a good frozen margarita but Aaron completely blew my buzz. I'm assuming because I wasn't his type or a familiar face, I didn't get the same treatment. I waited so long for my second drink, I ended up ordering it to go. What's ironic is, I've only been in town for a few weeks but between in person visits and online ordering with friends, we've spent at least 300 bucks there. Chuy's has always been a favorite of mine. Being from the east cost it reminds me of meeting my family for vacations in Florida and Disney (Orlando!). I was excited when I moved to El Paso to see that they also had a Chuy's. The food and drinks were on point for this location as to be expected. The only reason I did not rate five stars is because during Covid Chuy's has a limited menu. Understandable that businesses are hurting during the pandemic and have to limit some of their offerings. However, this local Chuy's (and Chuy's in general) has not advertised these changes. The menu is very small and options such as vegetarian and/or seafood are not available. I was surprised that some of our favorite meals were no longer offered and all of the meals currently offered were very slim. read more

Let me start by mentioning that I only tasted the quesadillas, which are an appetizer. So the main plates could be more appealing for some and even more delicious. I loved that the flour tortillas are freshly made right there at the spot and you can taste it. The ratio of food to plate was pretty generous for what I ordered. Would have loved to see more salsa in each quesadilla or at least the option to have some on the side, I'm not talking about bottled ones. They can carry the homemade tortilla spirit and expand it to the salsa department. The service was good, no complains in that aspect and the decorations inside the restaurant is pretty cool and interesting. I really liked that they have local art displayed and even for sale, I believe. I liked this place, though didn't get a full meal so I can't really give a full review. I went with family (they're local, I'm not), we'd already eaten earlier so just stopped for drinks and queso. No complaints about either, and imho chips and queso is a meal in itself. I stuck with the Coronarita, they hit the spot. I gotta say... i was super skeptical about this place for the longest time. This was due to the fact that i was basing it off my first time trying a Chuys in Nashville of all places. I guess i should have know that Tex Mex would be better in.. well Tex Mex of course lol. Plus it was a good place for us to meet with Lisa A. before ee hit up the Escape Room! The food was outstanding! I truly do not ever recall this creamy jalapeno for their chips but that thing is just magical! It was so good that we had to order a jug of it to go! As for our main entrees, I ordered their shrimp tacos but requested to have them grilled instead of fried. Im glad i did because it felt easier to finish my 2 huge tacos. The flour tortillas for them were also freshly made which just added that much more wow factor for us. So so good! I also ordered it as a plate that came with beans and rice and a side of avocado. All for only $12! We also ordered the steak burrito and let me tell ya how so right those meat cuts were. It was super savory and tender as if they used prime rib meat or something lol. Im exagerating of course but it was so great to me. Not the usual tougher meat for carne asada burritos. Freshly made flour tortilla for that as well. I purposely chose to eat at 6pm to avoid the wait for a table at least but what i wasnt expecting how the fast turn around for our food. That stuff came out in literally less than 10 minutes! We were floored! Thank goodness too since it was also happy hour and their $5 margarita on the rocks was needing some food to be absorbed into lol. Only issue we had was how packed the place can get and they tried to accomodate this huge party that ended up having our tables back to back with our chairs. It ended up making our night that much more loud and crowded than it already was. Luckily our waiter picked up on that and tried to offer us a different table and continued to be super attentive the rest of the night. I definitely need to go back if we are ever in this area again for dinner. Their food quality, price, and quick service makes it worth coming back. Recommended by the Hotel I am staying at Courtyard airport. I told my server Luis that this places my first time here. What does he recommend.... he told me about the happy hour still in effect and I ordered a house frozen margarita. Delish! We discussed the menu and I told him some of the ideas I had. He then preceded to bring me a plate of every one of their homemade salsas. So I could try them and choose what I wanted to order. I ended up choosing the the first combo. 2 cheese enchiladas, a taco, 2 chicken floutas, quac, quest tortillas. All delicious. Couldn't finish I ate so much. Totally worth it. Not spicy. I have been here about 3 times now. I honestly only ever ordered the Chicka-chicka boom-boom enchiladas. I'm obsessed with that cheese sauce they pour on top, which they call boom boom sauce. Some people with a low tolerance of spice might consider it spicy. I just can't get enough of that sauce! I want to pour it on everything! We recently went on Wednesday night and it was so empty. So we had speedy service and the waitor gave us a complementary queso , which was amazingly delicious! I also love their decor inside, it's so beautiful and chandeliers are all over. Sweet baby Jesus our experience at this location was super interesting and funny the least I can say. We did not have a long wait time to get a table. As soon we got greeted by our waiter we knew it was going to be a long interesting night. We were unaware if our waiter was either drunk or high. He would doze off has he talking and writing out requests. He would look around and doze off as if he was analyzing what we just told him. Granted we received everything we ordered correctly but he would triple confirm everything we order or requested. The king punch taste like a sour sex on the beach drink. The food it self it's really good and tasty, I like the steak much more than the chicken and shrimp. You definitely can taste and see that the flour tortillas are home made. Ok. Been there done that. No, it isn't bad. It is what I expected from a chain TexMex restaurant based in Austin. Not horrible but not comparible to anything in El Paso. El Paso has the best Mexican food in the country and there are too many great places to choose from that I haven't visited yet. The problem with El Paso is that everybody has their personal favorite, and I am no different.. Chuys is pretty routine. The complimentary chips were straight out of the fryer and The creamy jalapeno sauce was quite good. My wife and I both chose Elvis Presley combo, which seemed like a pretty good sampler. I love this place! I'm a huge Mexican food fanatic which makes this review very weird! Nothing about Chuy's is traditional Mexican food, in my book BUT I love it!!! The recipes are unique to Chuy' and they all are indescribable. Starting off with their decadent and gentle chips and to die for jalapeño salsa dip and I'm off to the races!!! This would be a 5 star review, except the powers that be decided to remove their best menu item, due to covid. And that was the chile rellenos. Yes, they removed these from the menu. How dare you Chuy's!! Now, on to this visit. Every thing was great actually. I chose to sit at the bar, as there was a wait for a table. I started off with a frozen mixed margarita. Excellent as always. I accompanied that with the free chips & salsa, along with the creamy jalapeno sauce. Some locations I have been to offer a nacho bar during the week. I am not sure if this location had that, pre-covid. My main meal was the Chuychanga, which was a flour tortilla filled with roasted chicken, cheese, cilantro & green chiles, deep fried & served with one of our Signature Sauces & a scoop of sour cream. I ordered mine with their signature "boom boom" sauce. This was the first time I ordered this, and it was excellent. This will be my meal of choice, as long as the rellenos are off the menu. We stopped at this Chuy's after a long road trip hoping to get an amazing dinner like we are used to. My family was told we needed to sit at the bar because they were full. I advised I would wait since I did not want to sit at the bar with my little kids. The hostess was annoyed and seemed like I bothered her by asking to wait. Ordered a Mexican martini , that I typically order at my Chuy's location near my home. The drink had floaters of black pepper like substance which I was not expecting. I asked for a regular Mexican martini. The waitress poured my drink and a fruit fly decided to join in on the fun as she poured my drink. There is no way it could have NOT been seen. The salsa was not fresh at all. The tomatoes looked old and clear. NO manager was around to help with the drink error. Every room has a different theme and almost every square inch is covered with something decorative. Fortunately it doesn't distract from the great food & quality service!
