Every time I visit my family, we have to eat at Morra Mia! In the past, we had only gone for breakfast, but this time I finally got to try their dinner menu and I was so excited! This is one of my family's favorite spots for a reason! Every meal was super filling and delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the guac and the elote, and both were devoured almost immediately. We all ordered different dishes, so I got to try a little bit of everything, and honestly, everything was so good. The standouts for me were definitely the birria and the flautas. I also ordered a jamaica gin martini and loved it! I love how big the space is because they were able to accommodate our family of 10 very easily, no problem at all. Interesting. There are little twists on the menu. Like I had the tenderloin rice bowl, which I thought was solid and do it again. Extremely disappointing experience. Our visit was frustrating from start to finish. The restaurant got our order wrong twice -- and when we asked for it to be corrected, they somehow brought out a dish without aspects of the dish that should have been included when we asked for it took them a while and was not up to par and then charged us for it. On top of that, they misexplained one of the drink specials, and when it arrived, they doubled the order not by our request so we figured it was part of the deal. We constantly had to flag someone down just to get basic things like refills and utensils. Service was inattentive at best and dismissive at worst. When we pointed out the billing mistakes, they refused to take anything off the check -- especially the items that were clearly their error. They even added $5 for a single slice of avocado that, according to their own menu, was supposed to be included in the dish. Instead of making things right on the spot, they handed us a 10% "discount card" for next time -- which expires in two weeks. Needless to say, there won't be a next time. Restaurants make mistakes, but how they handle them says everything. Sadly, this place failed every test of good service and accountability. read more

My shortest visit to any restaurant. We walked in and there are 3 hostesses just standing there. Not one of them greets us, they just stand there looking at each other with blank looks. It takes a good minute or two for one of them to grab a couple of menus. Then another minute to fiddle around with the computer. She starts walking and we follow her through a bright and pretty restaurant. She looks confused as she passed empty table after empty table. We walk back past the bathrooms , past the kitchen , past more empty tables until we wonder if she is going to seat us in a walk in cooler. She pauses every now and then confused or possibly lost. By this time we were done and just had to leave. We didn't ask for a tour of the entire restaurant just a seat and a decent meal. Overstuffed but under serviced. Never again. read more

Our first time here and honestly, I was skeptical given the price point and El Paso having fantastic Mexican food for low prices. But Morra Mia did not disappoint. We started with the house guacamole which had a great flavor and was served with a trio of salsas along with tortilla chips and chicharron. I had the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife had the birra tacos, Jalisco style. It was probably the best mole I have ever had and they were not stingy on the chicken. I couldn't finish them. Amazingly, the rice had flavor. So many Mexican restaurants just server bland, red rice but theirs had flavor. My wife enjoyed her tacos which came with a bowl of sauce that had enough meat for two or three more tacos. We topped the dinner off with a smoked old fashioned that was a house recipe. Again, amazing. I have had a lot of old fashioneds and this was hands down the best. The service was attentive without being intrusive. We were seated but we watched as guest after guest were serviced. We waited 15 to 20 minutes and were never even given a glass of water. It was heartbreaking and embarrassing. My dad had the chicken mole enchiladas and he said they were plump, flavorful, and well balanced between savory and sweet. My mom had the chicken milanesa torta, she said it was filling, and well seasoned, the breading for the milanesa had great taste, the fries were fresh and salted. I had the tacos alambre and they were filling. They had meat, bacon, green bell peppers, and onions. The tacos were plump and over flowing. They were rich and savory. For dessert my dad had flan. Which was light and fluffy. My mom and I shared pay de elote. It was sweet and decadent and it came with ice cream and ronpompe sauce (Mexican rum). The ambiance reminds me of a clubs in Mexico. It has queso fundido with chorizo on the side of you wanna just dump it in there, chicken, arrachera, some grilled onions, and two chiles toreados. Visited the place with a friend from the west side of town. place had a wait time even though it's bigger. The time they mentioned were very close to the actual time we waited. Here is the list of the items we have tried. - tortilla chips and the tomatillo salsa, guacamole salsa that came with it are warm and very fresh not oily very flavorful. These are COMPLIMENTARY. - Baja fish tacos - they were tasty and the added sauce adds perfect contrast and is very well plated. - I heart fries - one of the best loaded fries you can try in town. Just a warning they are really heavy evening splitting them with 2 people. *Margarita's* - the LA DE SIEMPRE is worth it and very well made highly recommend. - the LA PERSINADA is coconutty however the PATRON at the end is overpowering. However well made and picturesque. The restaurant was busy at 5 Pm as well guys just a caution. Unfortunately one of the main course we ordered the Cali burro they mentioned they ran out of tortilla and said they couldn't get the order after 20 mins. Instantly one of my new favorite local Mexican restaurants! I liked the exterior look, the decor as you walk in & the overall feel in the dining area but the thing I liked the most was the delicious food! The family and I tried five different dishes but started first with the complimentary chips & salsa (three different salsa options - all good with differing levels of heat) and then ordered some of the Novia Mia Fundido (melted cheese) with chorizo - delicious! The Cali Burro was good but there are better options on the menu like the rojo or verde enchiladas (rojo was our favorite). Both enchilada dishes were served with black beans which were yummy! The Tacos Arabe with arrachera were also a hit! Even the kids plate option (Milanesa de Pollo - breaded chicken breast with fries was pretty good! The kids finished up the meal with a flan, which was really large, served with whipped cream and berries, as well as a banana split, which came out with fried bananas - never seen it served that way before but it worked nicely. I've been here for lunch before but first time for breakfast. There was a little bit of a wait around brunch time, but it was not too bad. I ordered the chiliquiles Verdes with Arachela steak. Steak was tender, and I loved that there was plenty of green chili sauce. I also tried some of the menudo, and that was delicious, but I was very pleased with my selection! Waitress was quick and friendly. Atmosphere was friendly with music and music videos but still volume low enough to talk with your table. Morra Mia is a family favorite and my uncle has always taken me here everytime I'd visit El Paso. It has such a nice classy and jazzy vibes and they have really cool spots and props to take pictures that would be really good for Instagram! Ambiance is also such a vibe and they play pretty cool music everytime I'm there! Food wise, I would highly recommend their mole! I know that mole is an acquired taste and I was nervous on trying it for the first time, because I mean who wouldn't? Chocolate with meat just doesnt look that appetizing, but boy, I was wrong. It was amazing and was definitely a great introduction to the world of Mole as I know it can be cooked in different ways. Price wise, it's also amazing.
