Having lived in Texas expected something better. Really, Mexican is Mexican in the long run, no matter what name you put on it. The wait staff is terrible. We were seated in a room with a table full of loud, obnoxious women, some 15-18. One poor waitress for the entire crowd. The wait staff is terrible, nonexistent. This place will probably make the Chattanooga crowd happy, low expectations of course. Did I say wait staff was terrible?. You get the picture. Reasonably priced Tex mex. salsa was fresh, chips were light, fresh and also served with a jalapeño ranch-like dip. Service was friendly, decor was nice decor and 80s music was playing. Main entrees were good with some unique flavors. Kids meals cane with orange pushups for dessert. Overall good dining experience. read more

I've been eating at Chuy's for almost 10 years now and was so happy when they were finally coming Chattanooga. My hubby and I would stop at any Chuy's in any city we could when traveling. Chuy's Chattanooga's food is sooo good! My favorite dishes are the Baja shrimp tacos, chicken boom boom enchiladas... and my very very favorite is the Friday special- green Chile avocado enchiladas. Spicy but so good! Also, as others have probably mentioned, the creamy jalapeño is a must have with the chips and salsa. Also, would recommend the green Chile rice over the Mexican rice- it's delicious! The food is consistent and we've had great servers who remember us when we come in. We have been searching for a place with a taste of home. Although not authentic Mexican food it still satisfied this Texas girl!! Drove thru from Gaitlinburg and was glad we did. Nice decor, food was delicious and the service was excellent. The jalapeño cream sauce is good on everything. The salsa was too spicy for most but I loved it. Margaritas were on point too. Unless they franchise to south Florida I'll probably never be back. Crowd pleaser tho! read more

I wasn't really expecting a stellar experience since they just opened so recently, but I was pleasantly surprised! We were seated immediately for a late lunch. Our waitress was very quick and attentive. Chuy's has my absolute favorite salsa, and I love the additional ranch sauce they give with their chips too. The food and margaritas were amazing! Yes this is a "chain" but it's great! Fresh food prepared with passion and comes out at the perfect temperature. We went opening day and the staff was prepared and efficient. Chuys has finally come to Chattanooga! Perfect place to spend happy hour. They have free nachos in the bar. Can't go wrong with fajitas and definitely ask your server for the creamy Jalepeno! Be prepared to wait though because it's always busy. read more

Ate at Chuy's yesterday for the first time. It was super busy, but got in without an exceptionally long wait. Husband is difficult to impress and was "expecting run of the mill Mexican food." By the end of the meal he declared Chuy's to be the only restaurant he would drive the 25 miles we live from the mall area where about 40 restaurants are located just to eat. This speaks volumes for the place. The young lady serving us was attentive but not obtrusive...and, delightful. Portions are very large, so order accordingly. This is not just a place where you go to consume large quantities of good Mexican food. Chuy's is a place where you go to consume large quantities of good Mexican food submerged in eclectic expressions of pop culture. This is the place that people go with a lot of friends you don't really know that well. The good food from their huge menu will give you something to enjoy together while you discuss the Dali Lama portrayed in classic Elvis garb. There is a lot of heavy metal here. It's not in the music it is hanging from the ceiling. Collect interpretations from the various images of Queen Elizabeth II with your newly found "BFF's" between burritos. Talk it all out. Become one. There is as much at Chuy's to consume related to the decor as there is in the meal. So there is a great deal of energy here. It is in the service staff, the music, the decorations. There is so much at Chuy's that you just may leave hours after your entrance wondering if you had anything at all to eat. read more

It's a Saturday night at 515 (so early) .... packed. And they only have two thirds of the restaurant staffed - so the entire front section is empty while the lobby overflows into the cold outside. (But three women are working the front door?) most of the crowd is families with kids - who are IMPATIENT TO SAY THE LEAST. When we arrived we were seated almost immediately. The service was good and very attentive. My daughter had a pina colada it was very good. The food was served relatively quickly. Had the steak burrito the flour tortilla was dry and there was nothing but steak in the burrito. It was not a real impressive dinner especially for the price. They were having a grand opening fundraiser when me, my girlfriend and her 20 month old showed up. We weren't from the area, and we were in the mood for Mexican food. When we got to the door, we were initially turned away because it was the day before opening and it was the fundraiser (we were not on the list). We got into the car and the woman we spoke with at the front door was running to catch us. She decided to let us in because she felt bad turning us away late at night with a hungry toddler. Because it was a fundraiser, meals were free and drinks revenue went to charity. It was incredibly crowded but we got seated right away, ordered drinks and lots of food. It was pretty good! I got the Elvis Combination. It was huge and yummy. Drinks were good too. Prices seemed reasonable. Our waitress checked on us often. Definitely recommend. read more

Another 4 star review, Interesting place for a couple of reasons. We're early eaters, and I was surprised that the seating was only available in the bar area at 4:50pm, it was Friday but still surprising. I've never minded sitting in the bar area. Usually service but is good or better than dining side. Service was good. Turns out that between 4-7 M-F happy hour reigns which means free nacho bar. A long line of water and soft drink imbibers forms from the dining room all wielding empty baskets and determined faces. Just how many chips can one balance on one single serve plastic basket. Answer: enough to keep the servers hopping with buckets of chips and salsa. Kinda thought in the long run that might tend to detract from service at the tables but I really couldn't tell. The food: The salsa was very good. The salsa mix was fresh and very spicy, the creamy Jalapeño was not as spicy but still good. My first criticism is the food was under seasoned. Not bad but surprising. The second criticism was no draught beer, boo. The food portions were large and well prepared. The prices were fair and as mentioned service was attentive and friendly. I'll be back but I'm considering doing the cousin Eddie thing from Vegas Vacation and ordering water and pulling the garbage bag from my pocket " for take out" and visiting the nacho bar for a cheap date. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for months now but my service today was ridiculous. Me and two other people called ahead and ordered food around 4:45. They said the wait was going to be 45 minutes so we waited until 5:10 to leave the house. We arrive at Chuy's around 5:35 and do what the curbside instructions say to do. It took us 40 minutes just to receive our food the first time. They got 2/3 of our orders wrong and by the time we realized the worker had already charged our cards. And on top of that, she charged the wrong orders to the wrong cards after we told her what goes on what. Then when she comes out we tell her the order is wrong and she said it would take an hour for our new food to come out. We go ahead and tell her to make the food and ask for some water and she sent another worker out with the water. We asked the 2nd worker if she could please send out the manager and she told us no and that he was busy. While we're waiting for our order, we see the car next to us had a wrong order too but their order got corrected instantly. Our new order came out an hour and a half later and it was still wrong! At this point we walked up to the manager and had him fix it immediately. We drive all the way home and I start eating my food only to find HAIR in my burrito! I am disgusted! This is unacceptable. read more

Great place to eat, awesome atmosphere! Very busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait! We arrived during a week day and the place wasn't busy at all. We asked for a booth, looking around the room had about 10 booths available. But the hostess tells us there aren't any booths. And that we have to sit at the bar because they are extremely short on help. When you go here, we have ran into this problem numerous times. They are always short on help! Appears to be a convenient location if you are shopping in the area. Probably won't be back to this location because it has dampened my Chuys experience. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday. I am traveling for work and not often in the area. I was greeted very quickly by Whitney, who was super friendly and an excellent server. I ordered the enchilada/chalupa combo and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I also ordered a sangria that was super delicious and ready very quickly! A speedy bartender and speedy service. This may sound like a negative review but it is definitely not. They call themselves texmex. And for the most part they are with chili covered cheese and onion enchiladas, real colby cheese (not that white sauce) etc but they had no clue what sour cream chicken enchiladas are. Its a tex-mex basic. I mean On The Border, Abuellas, El Chico etc serve them. They didnt even know what i was talking about. But the gen manager was so totally amazing. He came to the table and asked me about it and went in the kit n made something he thought would be scce and brought one out to me. I told him that wasnt it but I appreciated it. so he was going back to try something else when I suggested he google it. He said that was a great idea n he went to the kit n a few min later held up a printed recipe n a thumbs up. In 5-10 mins he brought a dish of 2 sc chix ench out smothered in the sauce and garnished, served me, and sat down next to us to see my reaction. He had it. It was phenomenal and we all loved it. Even he loved it having tried it before he brought it out to me. I said he should put it on the menu n he said to call corporate n tell them. But he said anytime i come in just tell him and he'll make them or anything i want the way i want it. He was totally awesome. But corporate? Come on. This guy is a true restauranteur. The food was fresh & the site clean. The wait staff worked hard to build what I felt was an overly friendly atmosphere. If you like TexMex & modern, hip settings then this Chuy's will probably be a good place for you. Wait time was too much for me so came back later on a weekday and sat at bar with no problem. Had the fajitas and I must admit it was worth every penny. Every style of salsa was available and tried. Jalapeno cheese dip was a hit. Had the hot salsa and had me sweating like a gypsy with a mortgage. Take at your own risk. Margaritas were great. Not the best tex mex in town comparing to Mojo but a must try. read more
