Spicy Paloma!
Matt C.

Food was great and surprised by the cool decor after we walked in. Great queso and the "Cali-style" burrito with fries inside was awesome. Great drinks and awesome service!

Check out this burrito, looked almost too good to eat

My wife and I tried this spot at the recommendation of a mutual friend as Hixson is not a normal destination city for our restaurant selections. We arrived early so there were very few people there, and we picked a spot adjacent to the bar. The restaurant has a "fun", "hip" vibe, consistent I would offer with some of their takes on traditional Mexican dishes. It's a broad menu, with a few surprises. As we sipped on our custom margaritas, munching on our chips, salsa and queso, we made or entree decisions. a chicken mole and burrito. The salsa was a bit mild for our liking, and the queso while very flavorful, was a bit watery, but as it cooled, the consistency moved to where you would like. The food presentation was unbelievable, there was some real talent demonstrated, and the food itself, did not disappoint. Great service by our waiter who walked that fine line between becoming a distraction and discreetly assuring an overall enjoyable eating experience. This one folks is worth giving a try!

We had a fantastic lunch at Spanglish! I ordered the chicken fajitas and my partner ordered the chimichanga. Both were delicious. Cooked to perfection and served quickly. The service was excellent. All our needs were met and the server was very friendly. The restaurant was so festive inside. Nice brute colors and yet dark. I love me a low lite atmosphere! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I forgot to snap a pic of our lunch, but it was tasty. The restaurant was dim with colorful art and murals. It reminded me of a Tex Mex place you'd find in TX. It was a nice surprise to find a cool new spot in the Hixson area. It would be a fun spot for a dinner with friends or a bday gathering with good food.

Was very impressed at the extensive and varied menu, containing items you rarely find at other Mexican restaurants such as mole & sopas. They were fantastic and beautifully plated! The wait staff were kind and did a great job. Skip the same old same old & eat here.

Came for a quick lunch while waiting for my friend. I've been dreaming of the pineapple margarita ever since! I sat at the bar and the service was great. I also ordered the Tinga taquitos and they were a 10/10. Very chill spot and wasn't too crowded.

Forgot to get a picture before we started eating. Barra tacos Shredded chicken chimichanga

Slow service, double the cost and no Chips and salsa. If this is modern I miss the good old days. It use to be a great tradition place.

It's got authentic flavor from the chips and salsa (their salsa is bangin') to the flan, one of my all-time favorite deserts done properly; it's thick, creamy, and just great. Our go-tos: Camarones Diablo-- (Get medium! The Mexican hot is like Thai hot; unless you really do like ghost peppers, Carolina reapers, etc., you don't want that smoke). Carne Asada--it's just fire. For soup: the Pizole--just trust me. It's worth every penny. Tacos--any of the street tacos are great; birria taco is delicious. (My only critique--tacos de lingua would be a great addition). Dessert: Flan--hands down. It's sold out a lot so I order it when we put our order in so I can take it home with me.

It's very modern with vibrant decor and good music playing. There's a large Bar in the middle of the restaurant with TV's and booths and tables all around. No outdoor dining that I can remember, but I could be mistaken. We've had several dishes, but my go to is the Spicy Burrito with Tinga or grilled chicken. You won't find a spicier burrito with flavor anywhere in town. If you like melted cheese, almost every dish is swimming in it. According to my wife the Margaritas are on point! I prefer a cold beer. The service is good. We're always greeted and have good conversation with the servers and bar tenders when we dine in VS take out. They have a big party for Cinco de Mayo every year. Highly recommend.

We had our two young girls and they were very understanding and accommodating (high chair and coloring sheets). The menu is interesting but to be honest, we enjoyed almost none of our items. The cocktails were very meh. Not awful but not great. The food is really where this place lacks in my opinion. No one was a fan of almost any dish we got. The puffy tacos with redfish were likely the worst. Under seasoned and close to being gross. The catfish dish was so so. The fish itself was good but the grits were hard and the green tomatoes were so sour that they overpowered everything else. The ribs tried but I'd suggest going to a legit BBQ joint for real meats like this. The potatoes were greasy and mostly bland. I'd rank this our least favorite meal in the city. Interestingly enough. We were just at a Michelin star restaurant less than a week before and had the complete opposite experience.

Upon arrival, a friendly host found us comfortable booth seating behind the bar. The waitress not only answered our food allergy related questions pertaining to certain dish prep but the manager came over to our table to assure us that she would be double checking our order to make sure there was no allergen cross contamination. Such a kind, thoughtful gesture! Mom and I ordered the sampler to split - a huge tray filed with delish gluten free chips, a delish bowl salsa verde, a delish bowl of homemade guacamole, and a delish bowl of homemade cheese sauce. For my lunch, I got two of my favorite tacos on their menu still, the California Club ones, large tacos filled with roasted chicken, a tasty like crema, and avocado. Not as hungry as I, Mom got an Oy Vey Taco, another longstanding goodie, a brisket based taco, which she enjoyed. Our later than planned Wednesday lunch was perfect.

I like the idea of trendy sounding dishes and fun taco names, but I wasn't wowed. Our server took a while to get to us despite being a relatively empty dining room at the time. We both ordered an El Camino margarita, which was an orange-ish one. I asked for it blended but it came out on the rocks, so I just kept it. I ordered two tacos, the Oy Vey and the Taco Royale. The Oy Vey was nothing special and I didn't taste the barbacoa at all. The Taco Royale was much better and had a good blend of flavor between the chicken, chorizo, and pico. The side of corn was not what I ordered but I couldn't flag down the server so I gave in and kept it. It was average corn with a little bit of queso fresco on top. I noticed that the bowl really wasn't too filled for the $14 price point, some fast casual chains can do better bowls. I've had better and worse but the tacos at Taco Mamacita really didn't feel like the gourmet tacos they are billed to be.

This restaurant had great reviews so we decided to try…read more It's a nice, simple restaurant back in a strip behind some other businesses- so you may not see it from the road. Decor is simple, but plenty of seating and even plenty of large tables for large groups. We were seated promptly and given salsa & fresh warm chips right away. Salsa is something we're particular about. This was great salsa! A little more cilantro than I prefer, but still edible for me. The heat was perfect- between a mild & medium- maybe closer to medium, but didn't make my mouth burn after eating a bunch. The tortilla chips were white corn, thin and crisp. Not salted, so I salted each of mine before dipping in the salsa. Also, they bring a bottle of salsa and 2 bowls, so we each had our own bowl for double-dipping. We both ordered chimichangas. He ordered the ground beef, I ordered shredded chicken. They came with cheese sauce poured over, and served with refried beans that also had a little cheese melted on top (I really liked that!), Spanish rice, and a pile of shredded lettuce with pico, guacamole & sour cream. I really liked how the chimichanga was just a single one and wasn't too huge. It was still more than I could eat! But I'd rather have a reasonable size meal at a reasonable price, instead of a huge meal for a huge price, that you could never finish. I ate 1/2 the beans & rice and maybe 1/3 of the chimichanga. That was a very good chimichanga. It was packed with meat! And the meat was juicy & tender. I loved the cheese sauce on top. Our server was working very hard to serve quite a few tables. It took him a while to take our order after bringing our drinks. Because he also had a huge party of 20, that he was serving. He was nice and our food came out very soon after we ordered. The next time we travel here to Chattanooga, we plan to come back!
