We ordered take out today for lunch. I ordered the low carb burrito bueno and subbed the burrito sauce for cheese dip. I was told there would be an upcharge for cheese dip. I was shocked to see that the upcharge was $2.69 for less than 1 tablespoon of cheese dip. If the upcharge is going to cost that much, there definitely should have been more cheese - extremely disappointed in the cost for this. Stumbled upon this spot after a trip to the nearby grocery store. It was packed on a weekday evening so thought that seems like a good sign. My husband saw someone eating wings and had a sudden craving so we started there. Y'all... these wings were straight FIRE! We got them hot and they were perfectly crunchy, drenched in delicious hot sauce. Never have I had better wings at a Mexican restaurant. Highly recommend! For my meal I had a combo with a chicken enchilada and a beef soft taco. I liked the beef better than the chicken, but both were good. My husband had the chicken nachos and they were also delicious. Most places overcook the chicken so it comes out dry. Not El Agave, they got it right. The food came out fast and hot. Chips were crisp and salsa tased good. Reasonable price, and big portions! This restaurant is full of so many menu options accommodating everyone. Uniquely enough, this restaurant also has low carb options indicated all along the menu. Never have see that at a Mexican restaurant before. They have 2 for 1 margarita specials that we really enjoyed. I ended up getting the fajita taco salad (not pictured) and it tasted amazing -- 10/10. In addition to the chips and salsa they gave, we also asked if there were any other spicier salsa options. Ordered the Burrito Grande with Steak. Aye carumba it was HUGE with all the fixin's. Sour cream, guac, onions, beans, shredded lettuce and cheese sauce. I'm a big guy with a strong appetite. The food was ok and the service was good. What is most annoying was they brought our tickets, 2 groups, and a 15 percent tip was already added. I noticed this but the other party didn't. We paid with credit cards and the server kept the original receipt and gave us a credit card receipt to sign. On this, there was a place for a tip but nothing noted that a tip was already added. The other person added a tip, and then I asked if he had noticed a tip was already added. He had not. I find this to be deceptive and very unethical. A restaurant that allows this is probably not past other poor business practices and I would not trust to use quality ingredients either. The server would have gotten a larger tip if he had not pre added 15 percent, or at least told us about the pre added tip. I usually tip 20-25 percent, or even more for outstanding service. It's about time we got a good Mexican restaurant! We dine here 2+ times per week. The street tacos are amazing - you won't be disappointed. The service is excellent. It looks just like it did when it was El Monterey but the difference in quality is 180°!!! They offer 2-for-1 margaritas after 3pm and they're quite nice. Try the mango! Negative stars here if I could. First of all, we go here like once a week and never had a bad experience, which is awesome. However, this one time is enough to where it evens out all the good times. I was eating my food, which was good, until I found a tag (not a good one either) cooked onto my chicken. It said machine wash on it, so I'm assuming it was an apron or tshirt tag. Needless to say, we immediately told the server and he argued with us saying it was an onion tag. Umm, no, it absolutely wasn't. They didn't take the food off the ticket, which I wouldn't care if it wasn't so gross. All i can think of now is that I ate dirty dishwater. It's making me sick to my stomach and the people around us were also grossed out. We will never go there again. We have pics and will absolutely post it all over social media. This restaurant made a mistake in treating us like trash when we weren't even making it as big a deal as it was. I hope if you go there, you like eating clothes tags.
