I don't entirely blame them because frankly they cater to their audience - mostly older folks and families that maybe aren't looking for traditional levels of spice, or things that aren't all layered with cheese and sour cream. However! If you ask for your food to be "Mexican spicy" they will oblige! The fish tacos are unlike any sort of Baja fish style taco you may be expecting - but if you take them at face value they are delicious: deep fried & breaded whitefish with a smokey chipotle honey sauce and served with buttered corn. Everyone has a favorite Mexican restaurant and this is mine in Chattanooga. The food is always fresh and hot and served with a smile by the staff. The prices are great and it appears to be ran by a local family which I like too. I even used them once for carry out for a larger group at Christmas. I've been twice in a week. Pretty good. I like their red salsa a lot! Ala cart beef burrito and chicken chimichanga were delicious.

While not a huge fan of Mexican food, this neighborhood restaurant is a pleasant place to have traditional Tex-mex dining with friendly servers and good eats. Menu is pretty typical and the prices are reasonable. We will come back. read more

Tried Plaza Del Sol for the first time and they did not disappoint! The service was friendly and accommodating! The ambiance was nice with multiple seating areas, including a cute patio with umbrellas. We had the Pollo Hawaii dish and it was amazing. The ingredients were fresh and crisp and the chicken was well prepared. The honey chipotle sauce that it was served with hade just enough sweetness to balance out the spicy without being syrupy and we highly recommend it! I chose the black beans and rice and I enjoyed both. The black beans were perfectly prepared, definitely not soggy or overcooked. The rice was good as well. We also got a build your own combo with 3 different items and every item was fantastic, along with the beans and rice. We tried the house lime margarita and the top shelf margarita and we think that the 27 ounces were the best bang for your buck. Though we enjoyed both, we would recommend splurging the extra few dollars and getting the top shelf, this was an excellent freshly prepared Margarita. read more

In a word: serviceable. That's not a ringing endorsement, nor was it meant to be. You can find better food. You can find better salsa (while I would not confuse the salsa with ketchup, it is all red and almost certainly straight from the jar). But, we walked in right at 6 and were seated right away. Our food came out quickly after we ordered (almost too fast). The check was reasonable and didn't come with frighteningly large numbers at the bottom. And the icing on the cake is that it is close to home. You can do better, but this isn't a bad place if you don't feel like it's worth the cost or effort. read more

What a disappointment they have become! The second time I have been in three months. Both times it took them more than 10 minutes to greet me after I was seated. Last time I went in the food was cool. Tonight I left and let them know I had to leave. No apologies or surprise from the staff as they acted like this happens all the time. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. It has a bad atmosphere, parking is bad and it needs remodeled. Next my wife and I went and we just ordered fajitas. It took 35 minutes to get them and no interaction from the wait staff. We got it and it was in a regular plat e not in a traditional skillet. It looked like it was just warmed up in microwave. This place is without a doubt serves the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I ordered the mole poblano and was served a plate of flavorless gelatinous goo with a few scraps of shredded chicken in it. The salsa is pure liquid with a few pieces of tomato with little if any flavor. I ordered the beef tomales as a side and found the beef was missing except for the pile of ground beef that was dumped on top along with another tasteless sauce. My wife ordered the enchiladas and tacos with a side of rice, these also had zero flavor. The rice was overcooked and the guacamole had the consistency of baby food. We barely touched our food before we decided to leave this poor excuse of a restaurant. Don't waste your money here, you are better off spending your money and time elsewhere. read more

Went for a family birthday lunch. There was only 2 other tables in the restaurant, however it was a long wait for our food. When it did come out, it came out a meal or two at a time over the course of 10 minutes. (We only had a party of 7) The sides were obviously canned, so I can't imagine what took so long and although we had a ton of gifts, our server thought it best to sit and chat at the bar, versus busing our table. Also, most of the staff stood around watching themselves on a surveillance video. Seriously what was that about? I was a server for years, so this really chaps my tail. So needless to say, I will never recommend this place because of the lack of effort they put towards their guests. Far better, fresher, faster, respectful places to dine. read more
