I was wildly underwhelmed by my experience here. I love Chuys but the food here was off. The beans were gross and the guacamole had no flavor. The server was not super friendly either which was disappointing. It was a really nice facility, but was not as great as I had hoped it would be. This is the best Tex Mex restaurant in Chattanooga by far. We were invited to eat here on their charity night and have been back several times since. My family had eaten at the Nashville location so we had been stalking it ever since. I wanted so badly to really like this place but...I'd have to say the food was just so-so. Certainly not the worst but not good enough to make me want to return either. I had the combo fajitas and at $14.50 I was surprised to see such a small serving. I mean, I wasn't looking to pig-out but was just surprised. It was enough for me but I would imagine the average male would find it less than satisfying. Regardless, that isn't what earned them the 3 stars...the food itself was, In a word, bland. That's how I'd have to describe it. There was really not much flavor at all. They advertise they are marinated for 24 hours but... The service was mediocre at best. I never got an offer for more iced tea or anything else, mainly because she never came back to check on me during the meal. I will say this...the restaurant is adorable! I am not a fan of a lot of the restaurant chains found in the Hamilton Place area, but I do like Chuy's. Their chips are awesome, as are their margaritas. I also really like the way the place is decorated with an eclectic retro vibe. I am a vegetarian and usually get the veggie combo with a chile relleno and an enchilada. The one negative is that if you ask for hot sauce they give you Tabasco. There are so many better hot sauce choices. read more

After having some amazing mexican food in Clearwater just the day prior, we thought to try the food here. Ho hum. The food felt very by-the-numbers. I just got crunchy tacos and tasted no better than what I could make at home and my wife bought some enchiladas where she liked the sauce that went on top but the chicken filling had nothing to it. We ask for more, even after the waiter agreed we did not get very many veggies, we were charged 2.99 for the Veggies that should have been with our meal. No plates, for fajitas for two. We went here on a Sunday at around noon. It was kind of busy but we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. When you walk in you will be greeted with various Elvis decor and notice the unique theme. The seating & patterns make me think of a 60's diner (they have booths that are made to look like you're in a car). The free chips and salsa were fantastic and it came with another dip that reminded me of a jazzed up ranch. Our server Jacob was fantastic! When I wasn't sure what to get he asked me, "How hungry are you?" and "spicy or not spicy." Based on my answers he was able to recommend a few options. I ended up getting the Chuychonga with the deluxe tomatillo sauce. Both were amazing! The chicken was tender and I liked that it had cilantro with the chicken. There was a good variety of kids meal options; tacos, an enchilada & quesadillas for those who want to go Mexican, & a burger or chicken strips for the un-adventreous ones. The SERVICE I got has been fantastic. I have been twice and both times it was the best service I have ever had at any restaurant. The first time I went my server was Jolie and she was quick, nice, and fun to talk to. The second time I had Natalie and she was just as good. Our bartender Lexi deserves a shoutout as well. Very short wait to get in. It took under 2 minutes to be seated. Wish that i had gotten the server's name. She was fantastic. Very friendly and prompt. She was also very prompt. Went in for a family dinner for my husbands birthday. We were told a 45 mins wait but it turned out to be more like 20 which was great. Our waitress was great. Kept our drinks full and kept us in chips. The salsa was AMAZING!!! Now the downside. Our food looked like it set under a lamp for some time before being served. The sauces were dried on the plates. My son was literally able to peel the layer of sauce off of his chicken enchilada. The food was not as tasty as Id hoped and we were definitely disappointed. I loved the decor and ambiance that Chuy's has to offer. The servers were great and attentive and quickly accommodated our large party. I couldn't get enough of their ranch jalapeño and cheese dips! Both were amazing and fresh. The food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I had the tacos al carbon with rice and beans and it was good. I wish the rice had more flavoring to it, as well as the beans. The guacamole was really good and fresh and the rest of the food in my party looked really good. One of my friends had the steak fajitas and I wish I could have gotten that - they were amazing. The best thing in this place is the creamy avacado dip and chips, everything else was subpar.

This place is the Chuck E Cheese of Tex-Mex. Admittedly, this is review based on our first visit and at the end of the meal, we all agreed, "Well, we can at least say we tried it." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The server was absent minded. (We never got drink refills. We realized after we gave our orders we were never asked which rice and bean combo we wanted. So we all received red rice and refried beans.) The table salsa was foamy. Foamy. There were bubbles! And made with under-ripe, green tomatoes. Blech. Chips were heavily salted but thin and crispy. The tacos were more akin to tostadas since there was no curve in the tortilla shell. One bite and they were all over the plate. And there was a helluva lot of chipotle in that "seasoned ground sirloin." The flour tortillas are either straight up made with sugar or someone had sugar all over their hands when they made my plate. (Which made me seriously worry about cross contamination.) No matter, I can't tell you much about the actual taste of the filling because all I could taste was sugar. They were fajita-like in nature and looked a lot like what Chili's serves. The cheese enchiladas were actually okay, but again... We realized we weren't given the opportunity to choose which sauce topping. The flautas were made with boiled, mashed chicken and had no seasoning. There was nothing exciting about these little roll-ups. And while we weren't give then option of which rice or bean we wanted, we did agree that they were the best bites on the plates. The decor is definitely fun and the free orange push-pops for the kids are a nice treat. So, it seems this is definitely a family restaurant geared toward kids and people who don't really like mexican food. We didn't hate it, but we aren't going to be banging on their door. read more

I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved the new Chuy's in Chattanooga! First, I was sad they closed Macaroni Grill, it was one of my favorites! Second, I am not usually a fan of chain restaurants. Of course it was crowded because it is still new here, but my daughter and I went early, about 5 pm so we only waited about 15 minutes. I loved the fun atmosphere with all their funky art! We loved the Dalai Lama and the Queen dressed like Elvis! We were very excited to learn that you could go to the "car bar" (a snack bar that was made from the trunk of a car!) There were nachos with "all the fixin's". Though it was out of several of the items, the staff let us know they would be refilling the cheese, etc. soon, and they did! This was a VERY nice part of waiting! Finally, a restaurant that learned how to keep their "hangry" customers at bay! Our server was wonderful, I only wish I could remember her name so I could brag on her here! However, I DID reflect it in my tip and did write a compliment on my ticket for the manager to see! While we waited at our table, she offered us several different salsas. When my teenager ordered a dish with tomatillo sauce, our perceptive server asked if she'd ever tried tomatillo and when she said no, our server offered her a sample of the sauce to see if she liked it, this has NEVER been done and was so smart of her because as it turned out, it wasn't my daughter's favorite so she changed her mind and ordered something different. Way to go and keep your customers happy! I ordered the Chili Rellenos (pictured), my favorite Mexican dish. While it was not "authentic", it was AMAZING! It had their own Chuy's TWIST to it with a different crust, but it was a delicious change of pace! The presentation was surprisingly gorgeous as well! We each boxed up half our meal because we filled up on chips and all of their delicious salsas, ha! Server offers us dessert which I ALWAYS refuse at restaurants because I am full and don't "need" the sugar. Well, what a sales person we had! She said "The tres leches is UH-mazing! You can bring it home too!" Okay, she twisted my arm! That dessert would never have been my first pick as I am drawn to chocolate ANYTHING like a moth to flame. But we ordered it and it was a HUGE serving. Folks, I cannot tell you how delicious this cake was! I was blown away. My daughter and I ate as much as we could then boxed it up. By the time we got home (which is only a 5-min drive) I was ready to finish it, which I did--much to my daughter's chagrin! All this to say, we will definitely be going back to Chuy's! Rice is always sub par. But go on Saturday and get the slow cooked pork big as your face burrito. The pork is insane good. Best pork I've had not at a bar b q joint. Good sweet Tea too. The pandemic dining has all but died down with most restaurants being back to full menus. Chuy's is way behind the curve with a very limited menu and none of their signature items available. My wife and I ordered veggie fajitas to split, no mushrooms, no zucchini, no squash, no asparagus, just bell peppers and onions. $27.99!!!!! I could have gone to Abuelos and had steak fajitas for that price. I have been a chuys faithful since Texas in 2014 but they will need to do better for me to come back. Dude, the nachos are the bomb!! My husband, daughter, and I come here after soccer practice every Saturday and everyone is so nice even though my daughter spills milk every time. Normally I would give them a 5.. but tonight we were disappointed. We waited 20 minutes only to find out that we could have sat on the patio with little or no wait. There were two waitresses working the patio the one that was prompt and on top of things was NOT ours. This was the first time in a while we have been able to eat out as a family. The waitress was terrible. We had to wait to order, it took extra long to get our food, our chips were empty for a while (I had to ask the good waitress to fill it), the food was pretty good.. though the seasoned beef didn't seem as seasoned as normal. But it was good. We had s baby with us and would have appreciated a waitress who was attentive and helpful instead of one who made us wait and wait. The food as always was pretty good just disappointed with our service. This is the first time I have had this issue here. Hope it's the last. We will be back. read more

The wait time was accurate, but after ordering, we had to wait an additional hour to receive our food! Our waitress was very apologetic and the manager came over to personally apologize as well. First and last experience was bad. Got food to-go because of the Coronavirus. The food came out quickly, but wasn't even worth the few minutes we had waited. The portion was small, and paid a total of $39.86. For two tacos with two small strips of steak and a fist full of lettuce cost us $12. And the chimichanga we ordered was mostly fried tortilla and had very little meat and veggies inside. Only good thing as far as taste was the chips. They seemed fresh and hot. We went here for a late lunch today. I got the Chik a Chika, Boom Boom. It was stuffed with delicious chicken and topped with a unique sauce. It came with rice and refried beans. This meal was spicy. If you don't like medium hot food, don't order this. A side of sour cream really knocked out a lot of the heat. We also ordered the #1 Comidia. A very nice assortment of food. The enchilada was excellent as was the taco made with homemade taco shells. To top it all off was the tres leches for dessert. A huge cake that was very tasty and moist. It was almost like a custard mixed with cake batter, then baked. Stephanie was very friendly, attentive, and answered our questions. We will be going back very soon. read more
