Great food for a cheap price the servings sizes are pretty big. You gotta check it out since it's the original chuys. Salsa is good but a little hot for those with milder taste buds read more

Chuy's - Elvis dish - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

I was in Austin on biz, the same weekend as the Austin City Limits Festival. Even though Chuy's was crowded, the service was on point. Our food was served relatively fast, the wait staff was attentive, courteous, and efficient. The chips and queso were to die for. My coworkers and I were all very satisfied with our orders of enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas. A big shout out for the margaritas with the Corona Beer concoction, I'm sorry but I forgot what it was called, but see my pic below. There are Chuy's locations in my home town so I will definitely check them out upon my return home. read more

Chuy's - My favorite, a frozen cocktail, with a Corona beer combo, it is surprisingly good, so you should try it - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

Food is great, indulgent, and served in huge portions. The ambiance is lively and there is a ton of energy in the restaurant. This is the tex-mex place to visit in Austin, and this is the best location. It's a must-try read more

Solid Tex Mex place! Man the Texas queso was very solid. The fajitas were MASSIVE and honestly a serving size of one was enough for two people. It gets very busy but I would just order takeout and go to Zilker :) read more

Just went back to one of my college favorite restaurants thirty years later. I opened the back door past loads of drink-toting people waiting on tables, and immediately that wonderful Chuys food smell hit me in the face with a rush of good memories at this Barton springs location. While we waited at the bar, you can't go wrong with one of their frozen margaritas. Perfect icy consistency. Tart and Sweet. And if you want in on a Chuys lingo-ask for a two flavor margarita like a strawberry lime "dot" or "reverse dot ". Just means one flavor will be the majority and the dot is the splash of the second flavor in the middle. Makes you look like a local longtime Chuys- goer. And their just better that way. . Our waiter Michael (not mike) was great. Everything we asked for on our special diets, he made happen like it was no problem. While i totally cheated on my diet with the frozen margarita, I stuck to the plan with a grilled chicken breast and scoops of guacamole. Ok so I might have had some chips and salsa. Btw the salsa at the bar is so good and extra spicy compared to tables fyi. Don't forget to ask for the green salsa too. Great decor with hubcap ceilings, bright colors, multiple rooms, fun outdoor back patio, cool and funny t-shirts - just a must do if looking for an Austin vibe. Wait may be long on weekends and parking in back a little tight but just relax and go with it. You will be glad you did. read more

Chuy's - Front entry with Chuys sign. - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

Really impressed with how the staff handled today's crazy Friday lunch rush, and also with my taco salad. The fajita beef was tender and well seasoned! The chips and salsa here are nothing impressive, but I remember the queso being really good. I'll have to try it again next time. read more

Chuy's - Taco salad with fajita beef - Tex-Mex Near Me - Austin, Texas

The wait at Matt's was over an hour so we tried an old school fave, Chuy's instead. Glad we did. No wait at 6 pm on Friday. Excellent chips, salsa, and jalapeno ranch dressing (without even having to ask for the ranch) comes out fast. Compuesto queso was good but darker and not as creamy yellow as I remember. The Mexi Cobb salad was excellent for around $10 (why doesn't every tex mex place have this chicken fajita salad as an option). The flour tortillas are fresh, thick, and yummy...almost more like pita bread but delicious. Alan was excellent waiter! The menu options have been been greatly reduced for covid soncheck it out before you go to make sure you can get what you want read more

A must in Austin. Chuy's is simply delicious Tex mex. They use the perfect amount of spice that just happens to be completely cured with one of their frozen margs. Most recently I tried their seasonal blackberry marg cut with the original lime. They should just go ahead and serve that the time. It was delicious and exactly what I didn't know I needed. Oh and if given the option, ALWAYS get the Boom Boom sauce. read more

This place was right around the corner from our hotel and it had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. How can you NOT have Tex Mex in Texas right? I got a carne asada burrito with rice, beans, and a spicy red sauce. The rice and beans had really good flavor. The sauce on my burrito was good, but the burrito itself was lacking. It was like 75% tortilla. There was hardly any meat or cheese inside. I ended up opening the tortilla and just scooping out the little bit of filling there was with a spoon. We also ordered the things that are similar to nachos (cannot remember the name sorry) and those were really good. We got half chicken and half steak. They were like the perfect bites of nacho because they each had a large amount of meat, beans, cheese, and all the toppings you could want on the side. We honestly liked these better than our actual meal. We ordered a large margarita as well, and they didn't put salt or lime. Not really sure how you can have a margarita without salt or lime but we didn't bother to ask them to fix it since we ordered the food to go. The margarita itself was also really sweet and artificial tasting. The chips and salsa were good, and the food came out fast (we ordered curbside) but not the best authentic Tex Mex in my opinion. read more

The last time I ate at Chuy''s was in the mid 90's when I was slingin enchiladas and chasing drunk patrons who just swiped one of the carved fish that hung in the bar. Mike Young's recent passing I felt compelled during my next visit to Austin to pay the Barton Springs location a visit. It's no longer locally owned, has a NASDAQ ticker symbol and a lot of the kitschy decorations are gone. But the bust of Elvis I bought back in the day is no longer on top of the margarita machine but protected like the Mona Lisa behind glass. The food is still terrific, the burrito is still the size of a college football and the queso rocks!!! I had the Chicken flautas and my kids shared the fajitas... everything was delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive and especially patient as we took too much time to order. Alot has changed (no Chuy special with blue corn tortillas or chili relleno and the photo booth is gone). But the cool vibe and the food is exactly what I remember. And of course the Elvis statue I picked up off a Greensheets for $30 is now safe! read more

I got a burrito and a few margaritas. I sat there and enjoyed every bit of it. It was so good. It's a local favorite and for good reason. The place was backed when I arrived and I had to sit at the bar but I get it. You are being take. Care of here. The place clearly knows what they are doing and it shows it how many people are just fighting to get in. Highly recommend. read more

I used to come here all the time years ago. It is amazing how far down the quality has gone. The restaurant is clearly dirty inside. Food, napkins etc on the floor under the tables and a layer of dirty everywhere. The queso was watery. I ordered a salad which didn't taste good or bad just fine until I bit into a full toothpick. No reason for a toothpick to be in a salad so I assume it came from the mouth of kitchen staff. So that's fun. Will never again walk in this place. read more

This place NEVER disappoints! My friend and I had the pleasure of visiting this location today and were serviced by THE WONDERFUL Christian! He was nothing short of amazing! It's like he knew without us saying much. We ordered chicken flautas, he brought the famous jalapeño ranch without having to ask for it, gave us some extra to go without us having to ask. He was just absolutely wonderful. The food came out hot and fresh and super tasty. We had a wonderful experience and want to come back JUST for Christian! read more

While there are other Chuy's locations, none of them quite compare to Chuy's on Barton Springs. People complain about the wait times but in my opinion, a good meal is worth the wait. Dan is one of my favorite bartenders in town. I always sit at the bar at this location. Endless chips, the best limey margaritas, quick turnaround time for authentic, true Texas-sized Texmex food. I have never been too big on chain-food restaurants but when it comes to Chuy's, I make an exception as I am always treated like family and taken good care of no matter how busy the restaurant is. If you want good, authentic Texmex food, Chuy's is serving it up. read more

Austin Native and I've eaten here my whole life and its always a huge disappointment in comparison to any other location in the state, truly. A beef burrito drenched in a tub of creamy jalapeno for some godforsaken reason. It's hardly a burrito, really it's a soggy tortilla filled with nothing but bean, trust me I gutted it and smeared out all the insides. Just beans, YUM. As you can assume about a cold sauce on a hot dish, it's now thick and gross! Soggy nachos with again NO MEAT. Cold Flautas. Also wouldn't kill you to salt the rice once or twice in your life. Stop riding the coat tails of Zilker Park and day drinkers and take a cooking class. I've had a big Mac with more finesse. Maybe it's my bad for accidentally ordering from this location instead of the new South Congress location who's food and service is always impeccable. Fingers crossed you and I are spared this waste of money in the future. read more

Our food orders were both taken incorrectly, so we sent our food back. Then when they brought us the "fixed" food it was still wrong. They never once refilled our drinks and I was unable to get a to-go box. We never got checked up on either. The waitress seemed to not care/seemed very out of it. read more

Recently had dinner here with family on a sunday night. They were extremely busy, and we waited about 45 minutes to be seated. They add your name to a waitlist and send you a text when your table is ready, so you can go walk around the area as long as you don't wander too far off. Our waiter was fairly new, and had to ask for clarification on the menu items several times but was otherwise very attentive and efficient. I had the fajita beef tacos with their hatch green chile sauce. The beef strips were enormous for a taco and had to be cut up, and also weren't very tender, but otherwise seasoned well. Their hatch green chile sauce was served warm and had a weird thickness to it that was a little off-putting. Complimentary chips and 2 types of salsa that were both good. Receipt at the end comes with a QR code for you to pay your bill. read more

You can NEVER go wrong with this original Chuys location. Their meat is seasoned to perfection, seasonal margs are ALWAYS delicious, and they have the best green sauce around. You can go to their website and reserve your table before you leave the house to minimize the wait. There's always a wait because the food is that good! read more

There are definitely better Tex Mex places to go if you are in downtown Austin. We ordered the Comida Deluxe and Chicken and Steak Fajita. Chuy's on Cinco de Mayo is like Black Friday at a Best Buy in Missouri but boy do they have this down to a SCIENCE. The ratio in our grande Ritas was sublime (pun intended) and I would in fact drink their jalapeño ranch if socially acceptable. Tried queso for the first time and while it may be hot tasty plastic, it is in fact tasty. We've been before and we'll return. Salud af read more

Chuy's is an Austin standard, and this location is no different. It has plenty of old favorites (and that creamy jalapeno sauce!) with hearty portions. The atmosphere is classic. I've always received top notch service here, too. I could make my entire meal on the chips and salsa (and, of course, the creamy jalapeno sauce), but the food is always worth eating, so don't just do that. read more

The worst quesadilla I have ever had. I've had better meals from a lunchables. Not sure why this place is so popular

I am from California where like in many states, take Mexican food seriously. The sign of great Mexican food is the freshness of ingredients served. I believe this is probably true for "Tex Mex" cuisine. For me, great attention to the customer is Important which our server Matt possessed in spades. I like spicy which was not present in the standard salsas served. I asked if they had anything spicy and he immediately brought me the salsa served with their steak burrito. Delicious!! I ordered the steak burrito whose meat was nicely seared. I recommend this dish if you are not a lover of freshly cooked beans. Beans served tasted as though they were straight out of a can. I would have enjoyed my entree if they would have left the beans off of my plate. Ambiance felt like my grandmothers kitchen which I enjoyed along with a cold Corona and a margarita that came with an inverted bottle of beer. This drink i highly recommend!!!! This was my first introduction to tex mex food. During my visit I will try several other non chain restaurants before returning to California. read more

I've been coming to Chuy's for 3 years and I have had a blast every time. No matter the occasion Chuy's environment is always fantastic. As you sit down you are welcomed with their delicious chips and salsa to calm your empty stomach. Fair warning: don't fill up too much, you want to have enough space for your main dish. My personal favorite is their Big as Yo' Face Burritos and as a burrito fanatic can say this is at the top of my list. Hope you can experience the same amount of happiness I got going to Chuy's! read more

Placed an order for two bean burritos with beans on the side, received two burritos with cheese only and no beans inside and no side beans. I didn't order a wet quesadilla. Called the restaurant and was told they would credit the meal, didn't do it. $42 I'm big on "say what you mean, and mean what you say" which is obviously not CHUYS motto. read more

A group of us visited Chuys on our last day in Austin. We had the nicest server! She was so patient and positive attending to 9 of us.
