I placed my order online at 11:50 AM and received a text at 1:05 PM saying my order was ready. When I arrived, my order still hadn't been prepared, despite there being 15-20 other people waiting. Two customers asked for their money back, but there was no one to respond to their request-just an unhelpful app number. Those two customers ended up leaving without their food or a refund. My order finally came out at 1:55 PM. When I spoke to the owner about any compensation for the long wait, there was no offer. On top of that, the food was disappointing-I've had better from a typical Chinese carryout. Given the poor service and long wait, you're better off saving your money and time, even if that means driving to Philly. Please pardon me while I rant. As a native Philadelphian, I am appalled and offended that you would dare compare yourself with any Philadelphia cheesesteak establishment. When placing my order I was told I could NOT get the topping of my choice. I'd initially read a menu option advertised as a Cheesesteak Hoagie which comes with lettuce and tomatoes. I was informed they no longer offered that menu item, but that I could still order a Cheesesteak with my choice of toppings. Okay - so I'd like lettuce and tomatoes please. I was again told no. I explained that I'd been refused the option of lettuce and tomatoes, and she confirmed "No, we do not put lettuce and tomatoes on our hot sandwiches because customers have complained that it makes the bread soggy." Okay, so I've got the disclaimer. May I please have lettuce and tomatoes? Nope. Should it not be my choice to suffer the possibility of soggy bread if I want lettuce and tomatoes? Nope. I was absolutely refused the right to have soggy bread under my Cheesesteak with lettuce and tomatoes. So here's the question of the hour: What kind of paper thin bread are you using that you absolutely refuse to add lettuce and tomatoes to a hot sandwich? I've gone to Max's in Philly, ordered several Cheesesteak variations with different combinations of toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, cherry peppers, green peppers, mushrooms, and EXTRA mayo, took the 2 plus hour drive back home and nobody complained about soggy bread. I've made mini-cheesesteaks at home for parties using hotdog rolls that have survived lettuce and tomatoes. And furthermore, if you're adding lettuce and tomatoes to cold hoagie sandwiches, how is the bread holding up under hoagies that are oftentimes made with oil and vinegar? Do not false advertise Philly food to a native. We know how those sandwiches are made. With that said, unfortunately I never even got to try the food. Then when my order arrived the Stromboli I ordered was completely burned up With half the contents falling out! I demanded a refund and took my sandwiches and left. The windows are very dirty, as well as the front door. That was my first warning. But I went in anyway. I was greeted by a very nice person. She explained that some of the extra toppings would be placed on the side, which was very odd. I waited over 25 minutes to have my order finished. I was behind about two people, which was way too long. I can imagine if their were other customers present it would probably have take over an hour for my order. No napkins on the tables, so I knew where I was (Ghetto). I got my hot sub, it was very messy, the bread was not suitable for the meat it was a smaller roll, and full of grease, the meat was very bland, no taste whatsoever, unseasoned meat, nothing like the philly taste at all. It was so sloppy and meat just fell out of the roll, into the foil. The foil was of a good grade, and they wrapped it with plastic wrap. I have no clue of why they used plastic wrap on the sandwich. I would never go there again, what a waste of time. Yums makes a better product then this place. I would never ever tell someone to go to this nasty looking no tasting place. I can make a better sandwich them them by far. I have had a real philly cheese steak, they are in no way in the same class. Not even close. I went here because I saw all the raves on IG and having lived in Philly over 20 years ago and having been known to ride to Philly just to get a steak, I was like ok lets go and make it happen. The only thing that reminded me of Philly was the size (length) of the sandwich and how stuff'd it was. Other than that, it was very lackluster. Many other people have complained about the time it takes to get their order. There is no way I would ever have to wait an hour from the time I ordered to the time I picked up if I was in Philly. Now certain shops you may have to stand online to place your order but once its placed.....10 minutes tops its in your hand. This place you can only order online or via the kiosk at the food court. Because of this it makes me wonder why the food takes so long. They don't have to deal with actually taking an order or receiving payment all they have to do is cook. There is no reason it takes that long to make a sandwich. It took just over an hour to get my food. The other thing is too they didn't have a storefront that I could see. This is a food court. All the other venues had a store front you could walk up to and talk to someone or at least see them cooking your food. This one you had to deal with the hostess who was at the front who seemed annoyed, and I don't think it had to do anything with the customers. It purely had everything to do with the sheer number of people expecting to be able to walk in to get their food after finding a place to park, which is no easy feat, and having to tell them that their order isn't ready. All of that responsibility fell on her, but she is the hostess for the entire food court. One guy was sitting there. His number was 72 and they were only in the 50's. I was 56 and I had ordered online. By the time I had gotten my food they were only up to 59. Yes, orders made after mine came out before mine. Now once I received my food I had to drive home about 20-30 minutes and surprisingly it was still somewhat warm once I got there however there were some issues with my order. First, I love hot peppers on my steak.....In Philly they will throw them on the grill while the steak is cooking and chop them in with the onions. Here they don't allow that. They say pickles and hots come on the side. I received none at all. I also ordered fries. Fries were cooked well.....like most carry-oust a few were over cooked so no knock for that. They were slightly seasoned. They did sprinkle some salt on but that was minimal. They did also put pepper....They must use a pepper mill because I could see the pepper....the granules were way too big.....grinder should have definitely been on the finest setting. No one wants to bite into a piece of peppercorn. Now finally the steak......When I picked it up it felt right. The weight of it. When I held it, I felt like I was on South St. I had that Daym Drops it's about to go down moment. When I unwrapped it I immediately had that feeling go away. The inside of the foil paper had this red coloring on it. I've seen yellow grease. I've seen brown grease. I have never seen red grease. I ordered nothing that should have made the grease red. They don't offer you lettuce or tomato on steak cuz honestly that ain't the Philly way. I ordered steak with mayo and prov. I said my grace and took my knife to cut the sandwich cuz oh yeah, they don't cut it for you not even in half. Even in Philly the Belly Buster getting cut in half. Who going to pick up an 18" sandwich and bite into it? I take a bite and get this sweet taste. I was immediately turned off. No taste of salt at all. If you ever been to a Philly steak shop you will see them pick up that little metal shaker and all that's in it is some SPG....salt, pepper, garlic.....none of that taste came through. Whatever made the grease red I'm almost certain made the steak have a sweet taste. I wanted to see if this place would be able to keep me from going to Philly a few times a year to get a steak. It will not. Honestly, I will probably never visit again. It just wasn't worth it between the wait time and quality of food. They also do hoagies and maybe that is a faster turnaround since they aren't really cooking anything just making a deli sandwich. I went to support a BOB which I did but unfortunately can't recommend this one to anyone I know. next time I want a steak I will just drive up to Philly and go to Max's. read more
