Love me some K Dogs, been here three times and they are ok. Will be honest had better off a food truck but there's no competition here for Chung Chun. They do have a nice variety of dogs, sweet and savory. They also have a few sides, mac and cheese bites being one of them. I've been there three times and got the original twice and ramen one once. The rice-based breading adds a nice crunch to what is otherwise a glorified corn dog (sans corn, of course), but with a premium frank (in this case, infused with jalapeno), and bigger than your average sausage. This Korean-style hot dog/corn dog place on Denman and Robson has attracted a lot of attention around the area; there is always a long line of people waiting for their orders by the tree!  Since the store was quite small and cramped, we had to take our receipt and walk outside to wait for our number. We ordered the double cheese beef and chicken mix along with ramen noodles as toppings. My girlfriend and I intended to try it just as a snack, so we only ordered one to taste it. However, the portion was a little more than just a snack, as it was quite filling.  As you take your first bite, you can bite through the many layers of textures it provides: crunchy ramen noodle crumbs, soft breading from the corn dog, and finally the cheese inside. Anything deep fried correctly tends to always be good and this is no exception. I've had these corn dog like snacks before and I do enjoy them a lot. Definitely a game changer for those that are used to normal corn dogs, but nothing too special if you've had one before. So I thought there was a line when I got here, but apparently people were just standing outside not realizing they were in line. Easy mistake haha, so I got to order pretty quick once everyone realized this. After ordering there was a second line to pick up the order. Luckily they had a ticketing system and displayed your order number at the window, so you know when your order is ready. When picking it up, you get to choose what kind of sauce you want drizzled over it. I was really basic and just went with the simple ketchup. But they have a variety such as bbq and teriyaki. So feel free to be adventurous! Of course, had to get the rice hot dog with cheese in it cause that cheese pull is fun to do. I did the half cheese though cause I still want me some meat in my rice hot dog. The temperature of the food was good, not too hot and definitely not cold. Two of the most popular are to try the potato dog and the cheese dog. I tried both but opted for the one with squid ink. It was incredibly filling and having one may have been just enough as I was struggling to finish the 2nd one. The nice thing about these dogs is that you could customize the toppings. I really wanted to like these Korean Hot Dogs I've been hearing so much about. When I saw the line-up to order had only 1 person ahead, I thought this was the chance to try them out. While on vacation this week in Vancouver, we wanted to try some food we don't have back home in Reno. We passed this place on the way to Stanley Park and wanted to try some Korean corndogs! The staff was very friendly and helpful while ordering and picking up our order. We tried the original corndog, the mozzarella corndog, the ramen corndog, and a sweet potato corndog. I pass by this place all the time and there is always a large line forming in front of the shop. My friends and I decided to try this place after dinner earlier this summer. Because of the pandemic, only 3 persons are allowed inside so there are two lines. One for ordering and one for picking up the food. The staff member that was responsible for organizing the lines did a great job keeping it organized, spaced out, and moving along. Inside, they got an open kitchen so it was interesting to see all the hundreds of hot dogs ready to be cooked. The store staff were pretty fast and friendly. Ordering was pretty straight forward. Line up, order the hot dog, line up again, wait for your bill number to be announced, pick up the hot dog, and choose your toppings. From ordering to receiving our hot dog, we were in and out in about 15 minutes. There were around 7 or 8 people in front of us so there was a bit of a wait. I chose the double cheese hot dog for $6. Their hot dogs are usually around $5-$7. It has very stretchy gooey mozza cheese on one side and cheddar cheese on the other side, with a small hot dog in the center. It's then deep fried with sticky rice batter. The cheese was suuuper stretchy! When I bit into it, I was surprised how far the cheese stretches! The deep fried rice batter was softer than I thought. The baby hot dog was in the middle in between the thick layer of the surrounding cheese. It didn't add much in terms of flavor but it interestingly added a different type of flavor other than the gooey cheese. When you order the hot dog, the shop let's you choose from around a dozen different types of condiments like BBQ, teriyaki, mustard, ketchup, teriyaki, chili sauce, cheese powders, sugar, etc. I must have chosen the wrong combination of condiments to put on my hot dog because it didn't quite reach the amount of rich flavors that I would have liked. I just tried a bunch of random sauces that sounded good on it. It was kinda bland if you talk solely about the taste. But the texture of the extra gooey melted cheese stretching and the sauces combined with all that fried rice batter is SO GOOD every time you bite into it. If you add a lot of sauces like I did, the hot dog will be messy to eat so either don't overboard on all the sauces or just take as many napkins you need. My hands and mouth were sticky and sauce covered when I finished my hot dog. Overall, for $6 for the double cheese hot dog i tried, i think it's a fair price and it's worth trying at least once just for the experience of trying this super unique type of hot dog. I have never seen anything like it! I'll come and try their famous squid ink hot dog to see if it's any better next time. I rate it a solid 4 out of 5 stars for this super unique, messy to eat but oh-so fun to eat cheesy hot dog! read more

The first Korean corndog I've tried and liked it a lot. This is a fav that we keep going back to when we think of ordering snacks. Got the Volcano Hotdogs which is the only one with pork and chicken in it. Its got some good heat from the jalepeno. Lots of options for sauces (i got the spicy mayo). The hotdog is nice and crispy on the outside. There was a small queue outside and they let one party in at a time once your order is ready. They add toppings in front of you. I live in the area and have been curious about it for quite some time now. The lineup down the block is impressive, even on rainy days. I tried three different types: mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, and potato. I asked for advice on the toppings (sauces and seasonings) and took their suggestions. The service was excellent, and the servers were patient in explaining the various options. They were also gracious with rude patrons who were barging into the place without masks or regard for the established COVID-friendly ordering and pickup systems. I'd expected to enjoy the Korean rice dogs but was unimpressed with the fare. Maybe I needed to add more toppings? The mozzarella cheese was barely melty and was bland. By the time I reached the sausage in the mozzarella cheese dog, I was disinterested and the roof of my mouth was beginning to hurt from the coarse fried crust. The 'cheddar' cheese was a type of processed cheese that is reminiscent of 7-11 nacho sauce. The potato hot dog was the tastiest of the three. I enjoyed the flavour and texture of the hash browns and sausage and could potentially see ordering that one again if I were in the area and hungry. The cheddar cheese hot dog was a thinner longer hot dog while the other two were fat short hot dogs alternating mozza or rice cake. I didn't have a favourite as they were all good but the rice cake was the most interesting. The hot dogs were bigger than expected and 3 was perfect for the two of us to share and go. Order line up on one side, pick up from the other with a small digital numbering system by the line up when orders are ready. We only waited 20 minutes from waiting in line, to placing our order, to picking up our order. But after a walk around downtown, an hour or so after, the line up was easily triple the length. There's no going back to normal corn dogs now - these are just way too good hahaha We tried the Ramen, Chicken, Squid Ink Mozzarella and Potato hotdogs. Each one had this amazing crunch to them when you first bite in with the toppings. You also get to choose what kind of sauces you want on these hot dogs so get ready for a flavour party for your tastebuds. Sadly, there was this one flavour we wanted to try but it was sold out at the time - the sausage rice cake one - we'll definitely be going back for more. After seeing so many tiktoks about this place, I knew I had to try! The line up actually goes by pretty quick and they have separate lines to order and to pick up your food. We got two potato hot dogs, one mozzarella hot dog, and one cheddar cheese hot dog. The mozzarella one had an insane cheese pull and was really good. The hot dog bit was at the bottom tho so you basically eat the cheese part first and then the hotdog part. The potato one was super crispy and also really good. The cheddar cheese one didn't have a cheese pull but still tasted good. I really like how you can customize which sauce you want on each hot dog! They also have toppings like honey butter powder or Parmesan cheese. Next time I'll be sure to try their other flavours! read more
