#1 pork sausage with fried onions, mayo, nori
    Kathy H.

Card only, no cash. Friendly staff. I had the #1 which has the pork sausage with fried onions, mayo, teriyaki sauce, and nori. Definitely have to try if visiting Vancouver!

This is the #1 the Kurobata. Excellent.

We had to try one of these hotdogs and it was right after we ate lunch. So glad we experienced this!! Delicious pork sausage with a nice snap to the skin when you bite into it. I got the #1 Kurobota topped with grilled onion, Japanese Mayo, teriyaki sauce and I asked for a dollop of bonito flakes. Delicious! So yum! Even the bun was done right. Soft bun but slightly grilled so it was warm. Glad we stopped to experience this. It was really really good!!

    The "must try" flavour.

This is Japadog's Waterfront Station stand, located conveniently outside Skytrain station. I had Japadog twice during my stay at Vancouver. I was not disappointed at this famous Vancouver must-eat. The hot dogs could be a bit pricey compared to ordinary hot dogs. However, this is no ordinary hot dog, the additional Japanese flavour is what makes it special. The meat is a bit smaller but it's more tender. It fits perfectly with the soft buns and the special ingredients including Japanese mayo, seaweed and dried bonito fish shavings. I had the 1. Kurobuta Terimayo (dubbed as one of the must-eat items in Vancouver), and 2. Okonomi. Both were excellent! Do note, however, Japadog isn't that filling, so don't expect to eat it as lunch/dinner. It should be more like a snack. I'd like to try more menu items in the future, such as Yakisoba (with Japanese noodles), Ebi Tempura, or Salmon. These flavours aren't available at the Waterfront Stand. Finally, remember Waterfront location is Card only!

This is a pretty popular Japanese-inspired hot dog stand located all over Vancouver, even right outside of the airport if you missed your chance! I enjoy the fusion of the Japanese toppings on your classic hot dog, which makes for a great snack. I tried the #1 Kurobuta Terimayo hot dog ($8.29CAD), which comes with seaweed, fried onions, japanese mayo, and teriyaki sauce on a kurobuta pork hot dog. Just like how LA has its street dogs, this is Vancouver's version that you must try once. It's simple, but a classic. They really love to advertise the number of celebrities who have tried this place with images of them on a board. Worth the try though!

Yummy and cool vibes. There was no line, so we were able to order right away. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is very small, so you may have to share one of the larger tables with someone you don't know.. I was fine with that. Definitely give them a try!

I am so glad I got to try this while in Vancouver. Definitely lives up to the hype other reviewers provided! I've walked by this cart multiple times during my trip, and the deliciousness just wafting around the street was so enticing. I think what I enjoyed most about this hot dog is that the meat itself was super flavorful, juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. Lots of toppings, and you can add relish and other condiments on the side if so choose. No seating at all nearby (not even steps), so we just awkwardly ate by the street. One star off because for a food cart, I thought that the service would be quicker. (Also, the hot dog was not as large as I had hoped, but then I was super ravenous...) TIP: This cart by the Waterfront Station is CARD ONLY.

After a long train trip from the airport, this was the perfect reward for someone who is hungry and tired. Price is reasonable for being a hotdog stand in a high traffic area. Heads up though, they do not take AMEX or cash! Only visa and Mastercard. I am 100% going back to try the other dogs. Worth it.

First time here and I have to say it's a pretty tasty hot dog!!!! It's a Japanese style hot dog which I've never heard of before. The menu has a lot of variety as well depending on what suits your tastes. Very interesting with lots of flavor I have to say. I had the #1 which was a Kurobuta Terimayo and it did not disappoint. I wasn't aware that a japadog was a thing until I arrived at Vancouver. I highly recommend anyone visiting Vancouver to check out Japadog. It's a good snack while walking and checking out the city.

Can I just say, BEST HOT DOG EVER. They need to open up one down here in Oahu.. Went in March and to eat a japanese hot dog freshly grilled with a nice snap, in freezing weather is satisfying! Can't wait to go back to Canada for Japadog...btw wasabi mayo is a YES!

Visiting Vancouver and doing the tourist thing. Walking along we see a hotdog cart and wonder if these hotdogs are any good. Then we noticed all the pictures of famous people on the cart. Hmmmm, then I think if they come here for hotdogs they mist be good. I have to try them to see for myself. Well they were delicious and good. The combinations they made were very different from what I've had in the past. However they were tasty.

Wow that was disappointing! I love Japdogs, my go to location is Burrard Cart. So I don't know if they all have changed or does it just depend on the location, but did not like this location. I also noticed that this location had no reviews. I was here and its been almost a year since my last Beef terimayo, so I debated and hunger won. First off did they get smaller!?!!? Tasted ok not as juicy and flavorful as I remember it. And they didn't have wasabi mayo. For a $6 hot dog that will be the last Japdog I have. Sad.

This was a great place to stop by for a quick meal during our Vancouver trip. We were starving after we got off at Waterfront station, so the location of this cart right outside was super convenient. We ordered the #1 and #3 both of which were really good! The hot dog itself was juicy and flavorful and the toppings were also great. The radish on the #3 was light and refreshing and made it less heavy. The wait was a bit long, considering it was just a cart on the street and there wasn't really a good place to stand and wait, especially as more people started coming. Still, I'm really glad I went and it was a great meal that didn't take up too much time.

Great concept, perfectly executed, good price, good service decent result. I really wanted to love these dogs. It turns out they're pretty good, but they didn't live up to my expectations. Definitely worth the time and money to stop and enjoy them, but with so much amazing options in Vancouver, they're best enjoyed as a convenient good lunch on the go.

I was really impressed with the price (7 dollars including a pop) and the choice of toppings and bun - potato or whole wheat. I've had the sausage here before and it was very good. The shop was clean and the service moved quickly despite the crowd. Staff were very friendly. Good food and worth trying but just be prepared for Granville Island pricing.

First things first, this doesn't have the oomph and character coolness of Japadog that locals and visitors have grown to love. No long line ups here, no uniformed Japanese speaking staff, no photos of hotdogs with different toppings, and yes, no photo of Ice Cube too. There was only a friendly smile from the owner and one unique item offering which was the tandoori dog, choice of either kosher beef or kosher chicken. For $5.50, it was just plain and ordinary with only a hint of tandoori flavour basted on the hotdog. Despite the onions being nicely cooked in butter, bread rightly toasted, it was just boilerplate okay. It lacked creativity, texture and presentation, the wow factor. I was expecting toppings as chutney, yogurt, maybe paneer, or some curry infused side condiments, but there was only mustard, ketchup, and bbq sauce, typical for the dirty water dog varieties, not a stand named as Tandoori Tikka Dog. Sigh. Didn't mean to be the bearer of bad news here, but I'm giving it 2.5 stars and hoping they could improve as there's still lots of room left for more ethnic fusion street foods here in Vancouver. Meanwhile, I don't think it deserves a visit from Anthony Bourdain as of yet.
