During this visit to the YVR job dog, we ordered the all beef terimayo, dog, and the Okonomi dog as well. I think it was late at night around 7 PM so the staff were starting to clean up after a busy shift and from looking into the kitchen, it was quite dirty and perhaps that not the most hygienic. But overall their service was on point. They do not have an icemaker there so when I asked to get ice, they just took it straight out of a cooler so that is not the best. They were quite quick cooking our two hot dogs. Presentation was as normal in comparison to other Japadog locations again taste and quality was their, four out of five. They do have a self-serve soda station, which was fine. At the end of the day price in value there if you're looking for a high-end(ish) hot dog in a pinch. I never been to the domestic food court so it was a bit of a weird location. It took us about 10 minutes to actually find going from the international food court over to the domestic side because of the long walk. read more

Fresh off of a plane and my boyfriend and I spotted this cute little street food style tent on our way to pick up our car rental. He mentioned that he heard about Japanese style hot dogs before; me, on the other hand, didn't even know they were a thing! We decided to try one out since we wanted a little snack before heading out for the day's activities. We got the Kurobota Terimayo Hot Dog (basically the top ordered one) and found the service to be quick! Once we got our order we were impressed by the lightness of the meal - both in terms of the airy bun and the non-greasy hot dog. The kewpie and nori combo make such an amazing flavor set that keeps the essence of why it's Japanese style. If JapaDog is a favorite of Anthony Bourdain, it's a favorite of mine. Visited the downtown location a few nights ago and the taste has stuck with me- in a good way and not like how hot dogs sometimes stay with you for days with every meaty belch. The service was great, it was lively and clean, and the hot dogs amazing. I had the Meatlovers which was delicious and filling. My hot dog bride had the spicy cheese dog which she ate in a few bites so I'm assuming was equally tasty. I would definitely return for another visit. My only criticism is that while enjoying my delicious meat in a tube, I had to endure a duet of fellow hot dogs aficionados singing Taylor swift (I like Taylor's version- not theirs!) read more

My first ever Japadog was amazing! I don't know how I'm ever going to eat a sausage again without Japanese mayo and seaweed. I got the Kurobuta Terimayo and wish I was able to try more. The sausage was super juicy and the mayo and seaweed work really well. Not too heavy, a little messy, and very addicting! If you didn't have time to hit up a Japadog location while visiting Vancouver, this little tent is your last shot before flying out. I've held out reasonably well in the past few years living here in not indulging in one and I gave in this weekend while dropping off the hubby at the airport to treating myself to a Japadog for breakfast. Yep I had one for breakfast, and they are so good I would do that again. I was surprised that a lot of people eat here for breakfast, hey it beats expensive and crummy airport/plane food. A little before 10am there was already a line up, the crew there sure did move it quickly. Don't worry about having cash they take cards too. So does the Japadog live up to all that hype? Yes I can say that it does. I got the Spicy Cheese Terimayo and that was hands down the best hot dog my taste buds had the pleasure of meeting. This dog had swiss, harvarti, and cheddar cheese inside of it with jalapeños. It does have a hazard of squirting cheese out (and quite far too) with the first bite, but if you have it outside like everyone you'll be fine, aim at the bushes. The combination of Japanese mayo + seaweed strips is just a delicious. And this was all for around $7. Now that is a pretty cheap eat, I'm used to all that price gouging in Whistler, so this was a nice change. I agree with the first review... Don't think they're aware that for some people, this is their first food purchase when visiting Vancouver... I arrived to YVR from SEA. After walking out of the airport baggage claim area, there was a little tent with a pop up Japadog. We got the #1 hot dog with a combo. The hot dog had lots of flavor and was very unique. It was so satisfying! They also had Lays Ketchup chips (which I totally wanted to try). There were 2 benches next to the tent area so we had to quickly gobble down our hot dog. It's also right outside the train station so it's a super convenient pick me up snack before heading on the train! Note: I think the tent was set up next to a smoking area. Also the workers didn't really talk much or have any energy. Right before I boarded the plane, I just had to get their famous Japadog! Luckily, there was a stand right outside the airport and it was pretty easy to get to from the airport. I took the elevator downstairs to the pickup/arrival area and the stand was right there. There were many different choices, but I decided to get their #1 Kurobuta Terimayo. The total was around $8 (I ran out of canadian dollars and the guy was super nice to let me use some american dollars). They also accept Visa... But the dog had teriyaki sauce, seaweed, fried onions, and japanese mayo. I think overall, it had good flavor. But the dog had the chewy casing on the outside so it was hard to chew. My friends also tried the japadog in the city and said it was crunchier and crispier at the other location. But overall, it was pretty good! A bit pricey though. read more

We came to YVR around 9am and saw Japadog setting up right outside the international arrivals! I had heard about these food stands and wanted to try it out while in Vancouver but didn't have a chance, so I'm glad we were able to on our way out of Canada! I got the #7 kobe terimayo which is made with 100% kobe beef (wagyu) while hubby got the #1 kurobuta terimayo on a veggie sausage. The flavours were great! It's a nice take on a hot dog with a Japanese twist. The worker there was also really nice and friendly and got our order ready for us quickly. Another reviewer said that they're cash only, but we were able to pay today (6 Jan 2019) with credit card, so maybe that's changed. I also did not notice a smoking area nearby, so maybe that's changed as well? So happy we were able to try Japadog while in Vancouver! It's definitely worth a try! read more

Food: 4/5 Kurobuta Terimayo - $8.29 Some people may think this is a little pricey for just a hot dog, but I've had a couple of food truck dogs like this before and it's a lot more elevated and flavorful than just your regular classic hot dog. The actual hot dog itself was Kurobata Pork, so it was so much juicer and meatier in size. My favorite part is the toppings that really bring so much more contrasting flavors. On my dog, there was Japanese mayo (YUM), teriyaki sauce, grilled onions, seaweed, and fried onions! All these together bring a lot of unique flavors that I enjoy from certain Japanese foods. Okonomi, 2nd popular and is kurobuta pork dog, Japanese mayo, fried cabbage, Japanese traditional sauce and bonito flakes. We had a layover in Vancouver for a few hours, without having to go Downtown to try Japadog, they conveniently had a stand outside of the international doors!! I tried the spicy cheese and jalapeño stuffed japadog topped with Japanese mayo and nori.. I believe? I forgot but I added additional sriracha on top. The bun was lightly toasted but still soft and overall I give it a 10/10, can't go wrong with anything with stuffed jalapeño and cheese! My boyfriend tried the "waygu" japadog and loved it! It said it's 100% Kobe beef waygu but I don't think it was anything like the A5 quality considering it was under $10. He wanted seconds but I was rushing him so we could go through security lol!! 10/10 all around. Will def try again if we're in LA or Vancouver!! read more
