Street Boat Noodle
Amy S.

This is a new restaurant with spacious seating. The service could be a little better. We had to end up going up to the bar to get a refill of water because waitress just was not coming over even thought I was looking right at her. The bartender ended up coming right over and refilled everyone's water. We love some of thd dishes but some were a miss. * Garden Herb Rolls- very fresh and delicious * Crispy Fried Tofu- perfectly fried and very soft center * Crispy Taro Dries- a little hard and bland * crab rangoons- the filling was very loose * Street Boat Noodle- the broth was too sweet. Beef was very tender. * Chun Garlic - was delicious * Mango and sticky rice- great plating and yummy Overall, an ok experience.

This is a new restaurant on the creek in downtown frederick! The location is perfect for a date on the creek with plenty of seating for large and small parties. The inside is very ornate and fancy decorated throughout the whole restaurant. It was strange that while the restaurant was fancy the servers are all wearing tees? But that's fine by me just funny that they haven't found their esthetic yet. The service was good and attentive and kept the waters filled and gave good recommendations! Duck roll appetizer: 4.5/5 this was pretty tasty! Nice roti and duck flavors with hoisin sauce was good! Chicken Stay: 3.5/5 this was decent, not the best with it being a little dry, but overall with the peanut sauce helped with the chicken. The shrimp tempura roll: 3/5 normal roll that was good/average. Wouldn't normally order sushi at a Thai restaurant but my kid wanted it. Boat Noodle Soup: 4/5 the broth had good flavor and the meat inside was very tender, making it a pretty good dish! This tasted kinda like a Taiwanese beef noodle soup, not a clear broth but more rich in flavor. Panang curry: 4/5 we got this with crispy pork belly and the flavors of the curry was great (not spicy at all and could use more kick) and the meat was tender, crisp, yet chewy (with the fat) Drunken noodles: 3.5/5 this was good flavors overall but really lacked on the spice level, with it classically more spicy dish it had almost no spice. The noodles were good and it was a standard good tasting drunken noodles. I got the crispy duck meat and it was crunchy and good but a little lean with the amount of how much meat was there. Overall not bad! Overall, good flavors and tender meats but could use more spice for a Thai place. Would come back!

On our last visit, a few Sunday nights ago, we popped in at dinner time on impulse and were seated immediately, though it's not a big space and it gets a lot of traffic. We walked through the little bar to the interesting and well-appointed dining room. I ordered a Singha beer and my wife got her standard Thai iced tea, very well made here. We split an appetizer of delicious crispy firecracker shrimp. She got her favorite, Pad Thai with shrimp, and I got mine, creamy green curry with chicken (I chose a 3 out of 4 on spiciness, which was close to my limit!). Both were terrific, As always, the service was efficient and polite. We haven't tried this place for carryout yet, because I think we just like sitting there so much. If you like the unique flavors of Thai food served cheerfully in a pleasant atmosphere, I think you'll like Thai Meric.

Is this how gen z customer service is? Another server came out and was a total 180. She was warm and bubbly. Took my order and asked if I needed anything. Food was good. Ordered the crispy chive cakes - very crispy outside and chewy inside. The kapow was also quite tasty. Very flavorful but a little on the salty side, which the steamed rice comes into play. The Thai tea was top notch; a refreshing blend of slightly bitter tea and creaminess, without being overly sweet. I'd come back if I'm in the area. Looks like they have really good lunch deals as well.

A delicious little Thai place with friendly service…read more My lady and I popped into Rice Thai Bistro a few weeks ago for lunch after a nearby doctor appointment. It's not big or fancy inside - I think there are 5 or 6 tables, but we timed it right. We were quickly seated and waited on by a cheerful young lady. My wife had a very good Thai iced tea, We split a fine little order of savory chicken satay to start. She got her go-to Pad Thai with shrimp, and I tried a lunch combo with three things I've never had: a little papaya salad, terrific spicy drunken noodles with chicken, and a delightful mango sticky rice dessert. She judged her Pad Thai to be as good as she's ever had, and she's tried many. I thought the satay was a bit dry. The papaya salad was refreshing and interesting, the drunken noodles were firey and memorable, and I may have discovered a new favorite with the mango sticky rice. Everything came out quickly, and the server handled the rapidly filling dining area well. We'll be back for more!

Tiny spot, BIG flavor... and that spice will humble you…read more We popped into My Thai for a late lunch after a medical appointment, craving something spicy, savory, and satisfying... and wow, this place delivered like a punch in the mouth (in the best way possible ). First impression: it's a small space, but really well decorated, spotless, and welcoming. Service was genuinely friendly and warm from the moment we walked in. Now the food... My husband ordered the wide rice noodles with beef (think drunken noodle vibes), and honestly, that dish alone is worth the trip. Perfectly cooked noodles, tons of flavor, and just the right amount of heat. I may or may not have helped myself to more than a few bites while he stepped away... sorry, not sorry. I went with the red curry with coconut and chicken, loaded with fresh vegetables. It was rich, fragrant, and completely slurpable. Exactly what I was craving. The crispy spring roll came out piping hot and perfectly fried, with that satisfying crunch on the outside. Fair warning: the spice here builds. It starts friendly... and then sneaks up on you in the best way Bonus points for the lunch specials, which are very reasonably priced and a great value for the quality and portion size. All in, super fresh, perfectly prepared dishes, warm service, and bold flavors. Highly recommend... we'll absolutely be back.

Luckily I had my traveling fork and spoon. Fish was fried REALLY hard (overcooked). Without the sauce, there was lack of flavor. Tasted really "fishy". Overall: may try another dish but definitely won't be ordering this again. Not worth the $30!

Since we were in the company of a bunch of preteens, ice tea and mango bubble thingies were enjoyed by all. (For the future: they have a full bar, with everything from beers to fruity drinks to shots. I didn't see sake on the menu, but I'm not a fan so didn't look really hard). Apps were good, with serving sizes plentiful. We ordered fried calamari (served in stick form, not rings; weird but tasty), really nice tempura, and Ying Yang shrimp (the spicy may sauce was OK, but the wasabi sauce was killer!). For mains we focused on: sushi. Lots and lots of sushi. The rolled sushi menu is very long; the sushi (actually nigiri) and sashimi menu not so much. Nothing on the menu described how big the portions were so the 'dults each ordered a several different selections, both rolls and sushi. This kiddies ordered ramen, and Spousal Unit got Drunken Noodles with Chicken along with a sushi roll. Turns out the rolls were HUGE so we overordered dramatically (pro tip: ask in the future). Everything was fresh and tasty. My only quibble was that the Spider Roll appeared to be fried surimi (artificial crab) not soft shell crab. How could I tell? No legs, baby! We rolled out stuffed, with a doggie bag full of sushi for Daddy Dearest's second dinner. The price was very reasonable, and the quality far better than Lantern Sushi (but not as good as Sushi Nomo or Lazy Fish). Middle-Oldest Grand Daughter's birthday dinner was a success - and I'm already looking forward to next year's!

A solid contender in our quest for a once-a-month or so Chinese-style restaurant…read more The overall impression was good, with everything well prepared. 1. Egg rolls were a bit greasy. 2. They have a wonderful duck sauce, but they do not give you anywhere near as much. 3. no fortune cookies (that may be delivery only we didn't eat in the restaurant) Overall, the food was good, and the quality was good. Most of the menu is Chinese, with very few Japanese options and even fewer Thai. They also no longer serve sushi, so if you see sushi photos online, be aware they're outdated. We placed our order and bought bottled sodas, only to find out they don't have ice, which my wife was not happy about. The food overall was great, with one exception: the General Tso's chicken. The sauce had no flavor and there were no scallions in it. The broccoli was cooked well and still firm. The pork dumplings and tempura shrimp were very good. The beef and chicken lo mein were also very good, especially the beef. The dining area was clean, but the tables have that slightly sticky finish. The counter area looks messy and unattractive -- a big downgrade from a few years ago when it looked great. Not sure why they're letting it slide. They also prompted for a tip, even though there's no table service. They did bring the food out after I tipped, but still -- the expectation felt off. Great food, but everything else was meh.
