Came for breakfast for the first time. Place is really cute and very clean. I had the pumpkin pancakes, which were homemade and perfect-- not overly spicy! My bacon was also done just right. My husband got eggs and his order came out just as he asked. Coffee was good and my cup was always filled by the friendly waitress. You must come!! read more

This is a good place for solid, no frills diner fare. I came here while visiting my parents in NEPA for a Sunday morning breakfast. We arrived around 9 AM and were instructed to choose a table, though there were only 2-3 choices available. By the time we placed an order, a line had begun to accumulate as more people arrived --- definitely a busy place. The menu is very affordable; all three of us had coffee (bottomless!) and/or OJ and ate large meals (and my mother even took half of hers and half of mine home) for about $30. They have an extensive list of rotating specials, and I chose to order from that list and got the pumpkin pancakes, served with a side of bacon. I always appreciate restaurants that serve a little something savory with their sweet dishes, because I am always trapped in the savory vs sweet breakfast debate. The pancakes were huge yet fluffy, though the pumpkin flavor wasn't super strong. My parents both got egg dishes and seemed to enjoy them. Definitely seems like one of the best breakfast options in NEPA, just make sure you get there early to dodge the wait AND to secure a parking spot as you'll need to street park. read more

One of the best breakfasts I've had in the WB-Scranton area to date. It's always filled to the brim with people on the weekends. You can definitely tell who the regulars are but don't worry, you'll still get a spot. Came with my friend when she visited, she had an omelette which was massive and yummy home fries while I had the biscuits and gravy. It was absolutely satisfying. Just what brunch cravings called for, homey, filling, piping hot and just feel good food. The home fries were crispy and soft on the inside. Our coffee cups were constantly being filled. Went today for the first time. The place was packed with a wait of about 10 minutes. The staff was quick and efficient and cleaning tables and getting customers seated. The coffee came quick, and the waitress was quick to take our order. Here is where the 4 vs 5 happens. It took 40 minutes for our breakfast to come out. Now, keep in mind it was a Sunday morning. A holiday weekend. And the place was packed. So I'm given many benefits of the doubt, because of the food. When the food arrived it was obviously freshly made and piping hot. We stopped here based on rave reviews and we were not disappointed. The omelets were HUGE, the grilled cheese were perfectly crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The interior is typical for a basic local diner. It seems like a lot of the customers are regulars. My husband got the Southern Benedict special, which was amazing. The side of potatoes were cubed and seasoned well with bits of bacon included! I got the French toast with strawberries. I was expecting fresh strawberries since it's summer, but it turned out to be a ton of frozen strawberries in a thick glaze. It was sickeningly sweet. I only ate half of one piece of the French toast because the strawberries were drowning it and even when I scraped them off there was still a grossly sweet glaze. It didn't really taste like French toast anymore, all I could taste was sticky sweet- and obviously the syrup I usually use was out of the question. My mistake for not confirming the fruit would be fresh. The waitress was very nice and clearly had a relationship with the regulars. The hostess was a little "meh" in her attitude but not rude. Overall, might return, but definitely won't be ordering anything with fruit! read more

Chuck and his staff were very welcoming and made me feel that I was a 'regular', not someone crashing in on a 'closing time' routine like most restaurants. I ordered 2 of the lunch specials - the cowboy burger and egg salad combos, along with a side of O-rings (the portion was enough for 3!!!) and an extra side of slaw, and everything was deeeelicious!!! I'm already planning my next visit to try the breakfast menu that everyone in the diner was raving about ... So many choices .... Really great food here!!! I think the first time I went here was about a month ago, and I have been here 3 times since then. It's definitely my new favorite breakfast spot in the area. I am almost always a bacon & eggs type of breakfast person, but two times I had breakfast here I got french toast and pumpkin pancakes. Both were spectacular! My boyfriend loves the eggs benedict here, which I can't confirm because I am not a fan of eggs benedict in general. We were "in the neighborhood," attending an Alumni Weekend at Misericordia University and decided to stop in for a late Sunday breakfast. We arrived shortly after noon, knowing that Chuck's closes at 1 on Sundays, expecting the crowd to have diminished. WRONG. There was one group waiting for a larger table and we were immediately escorted to the sole vacant two-top. The very pleasant server left menus and took our order for coffee, which was served promptly. As busy as the diner was, our order was taken promptly and we were kept well-supplied with very good coffee during our 15 minute wait -- a not unreasonable time given how busy the establishment was. Every server with whom we had contact was pleasant and accommodating -- and that included Chuck, the proprietor. I chose eggs with kielbasa and my wife ordered eggs Benedict. Both were excellent. The accompanying hash browns and home fries were both excellent. Chuck took a minute to chat and was welcoming and appreciative of our positive comments. Any time I can get a meal of this quality for $10 per person, I am a happy camper. We left full and happy with our decision to dine at Chuck's! My only slightly negative comment would be that the chairs at most of the tables were not terribly comfortable = especially for my aged posterior! read more

This unassuming little diner is jam packed on the weekends with regulars and newbies alike sampling Chuck's amazing breakfasts and jumbo lunch sandwiches. I've been here for both breakfast and lunch and it's a difficult decision each time to decide which I want. My personal favorite breakfast is "The Rooster" with eggs any style (where does he get these massive eggs from?), delicious home fries and toast, and THE SAUSAGE!! Oh Wow! I'm talking about the links....these things are succulent and crisp on the outside....to die for! Of course, you can opt for bacon or sausage patties, but I can't tear myself away from these bad boys! The lunches are way more than a cut above most other diners of this ilk. Yes, they get busy there and service can be a tiny bit slow, but it's always friendly and I've never had to wait extremely long for a table or service. Do yourself a favor. Two sausage links, fried up with crisp casing that had ripped along the sides, however was not overcooked and maintained their juices. Following a weekend of camping at Ricketts Glen, we were hungry for good diner breakfast food and took a chance on Chuck's FTW (for the win)! Very friendly and attentive staff, busy but not too busy that we had to wait, clean and good food. We even met Chuck himself, who kept the coffee flowing. So more on the food. I'm not generally a french toast kinda gal but was in the mood. It hit the spot and was perfectly done. I personally would recommend the home fries (well seasoned cubed potatoes with onions) but my husband (a no onion kinda guy) was very happy with the hash browns. The great thing about Chuck's is that it's not too big. The diner is one room without being loud. The front wall is all window which kept the room sunny and bright.
