Chuck E Cheese... Where a kid can be a Kid.... And where adults can be kids too. My son loves this place. He begs me to bring him here. His 2nd and 3rd year birthdays were celebrated here and he always leaves with a smile on his face. 3 stars for this Chuck E cheese location. Maybe last year I would of given it 4 stars but after going to the Chuckees in Dublin,Ca a couple of weeks back.... I thought that location had much more better games. The games here are ok. It sure keeps my son entertained. The food at all Chuckees basically taste all the same. Vegetarian pizza is pretty good. I love the salad bar. Service is not bad. The only rant I have... The bathroom! Could be cleaner! A bit on the dirty side. Not as well maintained like the Dublin location. In my opinion having parties here can be pretty pricey. Heard this facility was newly remodeled! Nice and clean. Great staff and kudos to the management team. Great attention to our party and guests. Chuck E. came out twice and mingled with the party and kids. Danced and sang happy birthday! Our daughter had plenty of play space. Large play area for parties. Before I go to bed ! I just want to appreciate the workers today, with the service I got and how nice they were when I got there with my daughter. If you have read my Bjs review, Then you may come to think that I may hate crowds. And yes, yes I do. I also hate the types that are loud and leave horrible messes afterwards, with Screaming, whining children. Using these 2 facts, you can probably think how this establishment is. That is right. Hell. Here are my reasons: 1. This chuck E. Cheeses is the nearest one to me, and the smallest one by far. It is also kind of isolated, which makes it prone to crowds. 2. Upon walking into this place, you can plainly see that this place is, on quote from my godfather,"a third world cesspool". It is very poorly kept, with the awareness of fatal diseases everywhere. 3. They had removed 2/3 of the play structure because of children using it as a bathroom and getting lost, which removes the more fun. 4. The food is awful and at high prices, which is a bad combo. 5. Very awful children have been known to steal tickets. 6. The anthropomorphic robots are in disrepair. The FDA needs to tear this place down. This place is a dump. I have been to other locations, and they were way better. I threw my daughter's 5th birthday here, and boy was I disappointed. 1. They cake looked nothing like the picture online. It looked homade and costed like 15 bucks. I could have made a better looking and tasting cake. 2. I paid for the highest level of parties, and recieved the service for the lower one. No goody bags etc. They ended up having to reimburse me the cost that I paid for the higher package, because they knew they screwed up. 3. The Dip n Dots was out. 4. The only 2 times I have been there they have been out of beer. 5. Many of the games did not work. 6. The picture taking booth was out of paper. 7. The bathroom looked worse than a truck stop gas station. 8. The staff was extremely rude and appeared to not care. Seemed like a lot of irresponsible kids just hanging out that didnt really care about their job. 9. Games and table clearly have not been cleaned in a long time. I ended up getting the flu the day after I left here. Not sure if it is related, but the condition that place is in makes me think it is. I understand it may be difficult to keep up on some of these items, but this was not a case of that. It was pure neglect and inconsideration from the staff. Luckily my child is only 5, and did not realize the difference in her party package. The only thing I can say good, is that they reimbursed me the money. Please hire better staff. read more

When I was a kid, my childhood BFF lived around the corner from the Chuck E. Cheese in my hometown, back when it was on the OTHER side of the Sizzler on Hesperian. Then as now, that location was a very crowded, allegedly kid-centric yet somehow inexplicably depressing environment for people that aren't on stimulants or have an aversion to minor inconveniences like scabies and unidentifiable sticky surfaces. The Kaiser pediatric waiting room in mid-December is less germy than that place. So when my son told me he wanted to celebrate his 5th birthday (which fell on a Friday) at Chuck E. Cheese, like any good mom, I wanted to give him what he wanted. Unlike most good moms, however, I told myself I was only going to do this in a way that didn't involve having to pregame with a shot of Jameson, spend the night chasing kids around, or keep an eye on my purse and the table of presents at all times. Enter Chuck E. Cheese, Newark. The party planning process could not have been easier. I made the reservation online, they allowed us to call in and make changes as needed, and the night before AND the day of, a party planning associate went over everything with us and let us know everything up front - no random hidden costs or surprises at the end. They even gave us a heads up about coupons and how many times we could use them. We saved so much money! This is probably one of the best and cleanest Chuck E. Cheeses I've ever been to, and I don't know how this is possible, but that night, there seemed to only be 4 or 5 people working, and there were 3 large children's parties going on at the same time, and everything went totally smoothly. I credit all of that to our party planner, Princeton. He was on point with the timing of bringing tokens out for the kids, making sure the adults in our party were fed, accommodated our unexpected requests (usually for cups and plates), and just made me feel reassured and taken care of. Also, the kids liked him. Management, if you guys even read this, please give this guy a raise, he's amazing. Chuck E. Cheese Newark, you've made a fan out of me. The four stars are for value. The games are fun, the one token price is excellent, especially if you sign up for their coupons on the web. I have also been to fundraisers here and I do appreciate the donation aspect, but in another part of my life, I have become acquainted with someone who works at this location and the tales this person tells me make want to run out and organize a union! I know that places like this have high turnover/attrition and primarily hires low-skilled (or kids that don't _yet_ have skills) workers but that doesn't mean that management should be allowed to treat them with disrespect, play favorites or get away with being rude to employees and customers alike. I will try to avoid this place from now on. This place sucks. We came on a Saturday night and it was so understaffed, it was impossible to enjoy anything. An hour and a half wait for food is ridiculous! Machines were going out of order left and right and running out of tickets. My husband and sister waited about 45 minutes for 2 beers while I was trying to keep track of my 5 year old nephew in the crazy crowd. And they don't have regulations for kids running around in only a diaper. Really? No clothes or shoes? Disgusting. The worst part was when we were ready to leave and more than half of the ticket counting machines were broken. It took so long to get the count and make our way to the counter. Then a rude family cut in front of us to get prizes without having them counted. The ONE attendant counted by hand and waited so long to get them prizes. RIDICULOUS!!! We were invited to my godson's birthday at the Newark Chuck E. Cheese. It was busy like a weekend afternoon at Costco though my brother tells me sometimes you can't even walk through the aisles. Each birthday invitee is given a small container of tokens so the kids head off to play skeeball and the other games, scramble up the climbing structure, and then come back for pizza and cake while Chuck E stops by for photo opps. The birthday child spends some time in a ticket blaster and has a chance to grab more prize tickets. The adults had plenty of food while we chatted in our reserved benches; we had BBQ and buffalo wings, veggies and dip, tater tots and these interesting flatbread strips. It was fine. The minuses: --Our cake cutting moment was shared with two other parties at the same time. Chuck E and his cheerleader friends went back and forth between the three areas. I hope this community party setup included a discounted fee. --Party host? Was that the guy who brought out the food and punch for the kids? Neither "host" greeted anyone in our party and didn't do much other than help light the birthday candles. I did feel sorry for the two "hosts" as they were forced to do a song and dance with Chuck E and friends and their expressions were those of pure misery. --The girls' bathroom was a mess. Wet sinks and floor. No paper towels in either dispenser; the ginormous roll someone had placed on the soggy counter had disappeared by the time we were heading out. read more

THANK GOODNESS FOR NIECES AND NEPHEWS! I don't care, I love Chuck E Cheese's. Games, food and happy kids! We always get a large combo pizza with pineapples and an all-you-can-eat salad bar. YUM. The salad bar is F'ING awesome! FRESH stuff and so much to choose from. You got your regular American Salad and spinach, then there's shredded cheese, mushrooms, jalapenos, bell peppers, cucumbers, olives, bacon bits, croutons, diced ham, (what happened to the cherry tomatoes?), beans, crackers, DELICIOUS macaroni salad, potato salad, pasta salad, that red jell-o, raisins, about 6 different dressings, and other stuff that I can't remember right now. The pizza is OK - plenty of toppings, not as hot as I would wanted it to be, and the crust isn't very crispy.. but still decent. I took away one star because of the Rock n' Roll coin game. The machine DID me! I dropped a sh*tload of coins and BARELY any tickets came out! Also, when you drop the coin on a slot when the light blinks, the wheel spins and you can win up to 50 tickets. TELL ME WHY THE WHEEL DIDN'T SPIN? DID ME AGAIN! Luckily, I found a new game that I like. The Simpsons game. All you gotta do is aim the token to spell out W-I-N in any order and win 100 tickets. It gets pretty easy after you get a hang of it. I ALWAYS bring a cup on tokens with me when I'm on the game floor. It's imperative that you do too. The food is OK, can be better. The games aren't great, but why four stars. My 2 year old daughters first words were "chuck e cheese". Not papa, or momma, but chuck e cheese. She loves this place. She screams in delight every time I mention chuck e cheese, and runs for the door getting ready to go. Most likely she will outgrow this place but for now for ages 2 to 5, this place is great. Also I've been to many chuck e cheeses and this place has the best and the friendliest staff. I have a theory about this place. My daughter earned a special reward today 3/1/19 and at 8:00 pm her surprise was this place. We went there with the hopes that it would be a fun and pleasant experience for her but unfortunately it wasn't. We immediately noticed that the Manager (short man with dark hair) on duty was having a bad day. This was very obvious before we even placed our order. Other customers around us commented and noticed this guy's behavior as well. He seemed very angry and irritated. My daughter played games and earned a handful of tickets. When she brought the tickets to the counter and told the Manager that she had 110 tickets, he ignored her. Then he finally yelled "you need a receipt for the tickets!" She didn't know how to get the receipt. Then he later escorted her to the machine where she could redeem the receipt for her tickets. He seemed to have calmed down after that. Then when she returned to the area and displayed her receipt she said "hey I finally have the receipt you asked for! What prize can I get?" The manager exploded, walked to our table, and asked us to leave. This is an 8 year old girl that he could not handle as far as customer service. Seriously? The audacity!This is a classic example of poor customer service and this person should NOT work around children because he clearly has mental problems. He's a man who argued with an 8 year old girl at Chuck E Cheese and told her parents to leave the premises. This is NOT okay. read more

My friends and I decided to go to Chuck E. Cheese to see if the conspiracy was true about their pizza and i was surprised to see my pizza look fine and really good, the taste of the stuffed crust was like having such a tiring day and finally going to sleep, feeling really hot and drinking nice cold water, feeling sick and taking medicine, that's what it felt like. It smells bad, one or two guys working and its just been dirty/uninviting lately. Its really too bad because our kids like Chuck E Cheese but this location has gone downhill. Went in mid morning during the week and there was nobody at the front area 'checking in people' or more importantly making sure people aren't walking out with kids that aren't theirs. The games were not working/ not issuing tickets so I had to track an employee down to let them know and get our coins back which was extremely annoying. I was really disgusted by the vents they have on the play structure, it drops lint/dirt balls everywhere on the tables underneath and on the games/carpet area..the soda fountain area was just sticky everywhere including the straw dispenser, you can tell it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Whoever owns this location needs to go undercover see it for themselves and the crack the whip. Get some fun/young/approachable staff and get someone in there to clean up daily!! Chuck E Cheese is where a kid can be a kid. No where in its moniker does it say, "where an adult can get good food" Kids don't go here to eat, they go here to play. They just need a ride to the place so that why YOU, YES YOU..the parent needs to go. Tonight Chuck E Cheese offered a 15% donation to my nephews school if we purchased food and games. Its a great idea actually. The school doesn't have to do anything, parents really don't have to organize anything and no one has to show up at school again for this particular type of fundraiser. The best part is that the facility cleans up after the little tykes. They gave each kid 10 free tokens. Nice gesture seeing that I put out 39.99 for a pizza, 4 beverages and 100 tokens. The exciting event of the evening was "PEE IN THE JUNGLE GYM". I REPEAT, "THERE WAS PEE IN THE JUNGLE GYM." Imagine a bus load of 5-8 year olds running through the restaurant yelling this information in unison. My heart goes out to the poor employee who had to climb into the jungle gym and wipe up the mess with a bottle of cleaner and a towel. One star for making the kids happy, Anther star for giving to the school, and lastly another star for that poor employee. read more

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this Chuck E Cheese. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and almost all machines were in working condition. If you want a decent experience, you have to come on a weekday. No parties, no congestion. It's a great option for rainy days. I even came on a Saturday to check it out since it was raining. It was definitely really hectic, but nothing I didn't expect. And, um, if by "ghetto" you mean there are a lot of colored people who come here, then sure, it's "ghetto." Yes, there are rowdy kids wrecking havoc and their parents are chasing them around, probably yelling at them to finish their pizza or to not throw the skee balls up the ramp... are your children perfect angels? Because there's something about these game machines that make kids go bonkers. It's a given whenever you go to any if these places. You don't expect proper etiquette here, do you? The term "ghetto" gets thrown around too often, but believe me, this Chuck E Cheese is anything but ghetto. Been here many times with my 3-year old daughter. She loves it, but I'm not a big fan of this place. The food: I don't like their pizzas. You have to wait a really long time for it, and it always comes out soggy and greasy. The games: from my recent visit, not less than 5 machines are malfunctioning (ate my token and nothing happens). The staff: not the friendliest bunch even though it's a kids' place. The environment: chaotic most of the time though I understand that's not their fault. I am definitely Yelping after my husband (Matt) and friends (B-rad and Henry) . . .we all attended the samegraduation party for a friend's 4 year old. Luckily Matt and I have an almost 1 year old, so at least we had another reason to be there. I will say, and I'm sure all kiddie fun houses are like this, the place just wreaks and feels dirty. I felt the need to put sanitizer on my daughter's hands when we left. . .which I don't do since she is so little. GROSS! Wipes weren't going to cut it this time. What I do like is that they have the most responsible teen working the gate, stamping kids and corresponding parents with UV specific stamps. . .their way of preventing an adult leaving with the wrong child. . .a little safety in place. . . Came here Friday night and must not that this place has really changed a lot from when I last came here about 8 years ago. One positive thing is that this place is considerably less crowded than the Hayward location. There were numerous open tables, and the lines were not long at all. Helpful tip: go to chuckecheese.com, and print out an online coupon. For $24.99 I got a large super combo pizza, 40 tokens, and 4 sodas. They also have several other coupons if you need more tokens, which is far better than you'd get if you just showed up there. My babies love this place. There are always numerous machines not working, without signs, and don't give tickets. But you stand in line again and the staff gives you tickets or coins to make up for it. There are all kinds of kids running around playing games. You have the babies with runny noses and smelly diapers, to the teenagers without jobs or anything better to do. Won't eat the food here, it looks like plastic. With a 100 tokens, it's hard to end up getting anything decent for the kids with the tickets they get. Maybe a quarter sized eraser or plastic insect if you're lucky. Come here with hand sanitizer. It was beyond my imagination that a kids birthday party could be so stressful till we actually experienced one at Chuck E. Cheese . We had organized my son's birthday party here and it was total disaster. We had to keep asking for each single thing (sodas pizzas water cups etc) many times. Nothing was organized. The hostess put up my food order on hold for no reason which ended up waiting for the food for a long time. And more to this we could get pizzas one at a time. This was embarrassing. The reason I am giving at least 2 stars is that the manager was understanding and tried his best to make up for all the mistakes.. but our party was already spoiled. Birthday party review: My main complaint was around the number of attendees we ended up being charged for and poor communication and discrepancy surrounding the policy. I initially put in 20 kids and 20 adults as an estimate and a copy and paste from the website states: "Upon booking a birthday party, our 4-child minimum policy will be in effect for all parties. Child minimums vary per location and are noted in the reservation site prior to booking. Changes to the reservation must be made prior to the day of the reserved party to avoid penalty. Our policy allows for per-child fees to be waived for up to 2 no-shows on the day of your party. Any additional children not in attendance will be subject to per child cost for any changes made on the day of your party." The FAQ on the website clearly says changes must be made the day prior to avoid penalty. I also found another spot on the website where they say 24 hours prior. I've posted the screen shot. They called me two days before and left a message. They never said I was locked into 20 at that point. I called back next day (the day prior) to change the number of kids from 20 to 10 because that is all that had RSVP'ed affirmatively. Again, the person I talked to never told me it was too late to change my count. When I arrived the next day, there were still 20 settings on the table. I told the hostess I had changed it to 10 the day before. She also did not tell me at that time that I was still responsible for 20. I didn't find out until the end of the party that I was responsible for 18 (because they allow for 2 no-shows on the day of the party). The manager said I had to make the change at least 48 hours before the day of the party but that was the first I'd heard that time frame from anyone. It turned out 16 kids showed up so I ended up having to pay for 2 extra. I'd have been way more upset if I would have had to pay for more, which I easily could have. I'm just really disappointed with the way things were handled regarding number of people and that things were not properly communicated up front. The manager did a few things to make it right so I did appreciate that. He did also recognize they should have been more clear about when the number of guests locked down on the phone call I got two days prior. There were a few other small things that could have made the experience better that I did communicate to the manager as well. We had plastic souvenir cups but no way to label them. With the kids coming as going as often as they were, that was an issue. It'd be nice if they provided a marker so kids could write their names on the cups. It was a busy Saturday so it was super loud and the speaker system wasn't loud enough for people to hear. It is also underutilized. It'd be nice if they made more announcements to help rally kids when lunch or cake was ready to be served. Instead I had to go out and find them and that's even harder when they are classmates and siblings of classmates that you may have never met before. It'd also be helpful and super easy to do to write out a schedule that all guests could reference. Just a piece of paper posted on the head of the table. Instead I was responsible for communicating all this to people arriving and leaving at different times and scattered all over the place at any point in time. For example: party start 12:30 unlimited play time (or whatever the case may be) 12:30 - 2:30 Make sure to get a wrist band! lunch served 1:00 birthday dance and pictures with Chuck E. Cheese 1:30 cake served 1:45 ice cream served 2:00 party ends 2:30 make sure to get a goodie bag and take home your souvenir cup! Also, the birthday boy never made it into the ticket blaster. Not sure what happened there but it was never mentioned. Positives: The kids all had a lot of fun playing the games and collecting the tickets. Our hostess was very sweet and accommodating. They were on top of all the set up and clean up. Clean and newly remodeled however not the same without the creepy Animatronic band, but I'm probably the only one who misses it. They had a fancy dance floor but I was surprised it wasn't interactive in any way. That would have been a nice touch. read more

I have fond memories of Chuck E Cheese as a kid. Buckets of tokens, pizza, birthday parties, etc. This is the biggest reason, i.e. acknowledging that I am looking at this place with grown up eyes now, that this is not a 2 star review (which is what my gut tells me to give). The overall feel, starting out in the parking lot, is of mild neglect. The Sushi restaurant next door is shuttered with overflowing trash cans. The lot has a lot of litter and by the front door of Chuck E Cheese was a "present" another guest had considerately left: a dirty diaper. Maybe this general maintenance is not 100 percent their fault but this does not look like a business where high care is given to the outside or maybe there aren't enough staff. Inside is a little better. They have upgraded their games since my last visit to include a good number of multi-player arcade cabinets. Have not tried their food so can't comment. Of course it is chaotic inside and not spotless, but that comes with a high number of kids running around. The ticket/token system is kind of a rip - you need to play a lot of games to win anything of value - but I understand this is how it goes. At current this place is worth a couple bucks, a few games, and an hours time to my family. When I go somewhere with my kids I hold it to a higher standard than me on my own. I have to echo what Aubrey's review from a few weeks ago. We hosted a birthday party here for our son last weekend and Joey the manager and his staff really went out their way to make sure that we had a good time and are completely satisfied. The online reservation was seamless and Joey personally confirmed our booking a few days beforehand. Things all went smoothly the day of. Food was delish and we ordered pizza, wings and veggie tray so the adults can have something to munch on :) All the kids of course had a blast with the games and tickets and enjoyed the Dipping Dots too. Joey also checked in with us throughout the party which we appreciated. Thank you Joey and your team for an awesome party and we will be back! Surprisingly, eventhough there are a lot of bad reviews about this place, my family and I had a really fun time here. We came here for my daughter's friend's birthday party, and we all had a blast. The staff was friendly, welcoming us when we entered through the door. They stamp your arm as well as your child's arm with a matching stamp that only can be seen with a blacklight to ensure that you leave with your own child. They have an area reserved for birthday parties that also had a stage with Chuck E. and his friends which move and sing during certain times. The pizza that they made for the party was extremely good that even I was surprised! My favorite was the mushroom and cheese pizza; the party has been over for a few hours and I still can't get over it! The mascot (Chuck E.) came out to greet the birthday celebrants as well as to take pictures with them. It was an extremely fun day, and I could tell that the youngsters had a great time. There are a few downsides, unfortunately. - The party was held on a weekend, so it did get really busy because there were a few birthday parties going on at one time. Lots of people everywhere, so be careful to not trip over little ones! - There are a few games that dispensed out tickets (Deal or No Deal, Operation, Skeeball, to name a few) but I do wish that there were more. A few kids had to wait at some games for their turn in order to play. - Many of the "Ticket Muncher" (used to put in your tickets to count it, gives you a receipt afterwards with the total amount of tickets you put in) machines were not working. Only one was working out of 4. - The animatronic Chuck E. and his friends are a bit outdated. They also look a bit creepy. I sometimes got a bit uncomfortable whenever Chuck E. was looking in our direction; it looked like it was eyeing us and I couldn't help but think of 5 Nights at Freddy's. Though there were some downsides, don't let that stop you from going and trying this place out. When I read the reviews, I was a bit skeptical of going, but thankfully I did. Can't believe how awesome this place used to be when I was a kid. Now its just all gross. The pizza is ok, and the arcade games are a jip. I played that one ticket game where you knock tokens off the ledge. Usually each token that falls over gives you a bunch of tickets, but no! First side I tried only gave me 5 tickets for knocking over 5 coins. On another side I knocked over two coins and got no tickets. Could use more mazes and such for the kids, and the arcade just isn't what it used to be. Well I was gonna give it 1 star, but since this is meant for the kids, who normally enjoy themselves here, I'll give it 2. read more

I wish they had a no star ratings!! Worst Chuck E Cheese ever!!! I should have seen the warning signs since I got there. But since it was my daughter bday I decided to just let it go. Keep in mind it wasn't just the salad bar but the soda fountain area had ants. I was waiting for croutons she told me to wait so I did for about 2-3min then I decided to go sit down. Sent my husband with another plate and they told him no that he needed to get the salad plate. Went up with the plate and That's when Audrinna says that I should have waiting and so I said maybe you should have this shit filled up and clean. She told me I had to leave and I said I will as long as get my refund. Which she refused so I'm out $66. Save yourself a trip and take your kids else where. Wish I took more pictures but they saw me taking this one a the salad bar and got the look. read more
