Ashley and Jasmine are very great coaches. They taught my daughter a lot of things that were difficult prior to joining gymnastics. I would recommend this business and if your kid would like to start a program, I would definitely go with Ashley. She has the patience and she believes in her students. I wish there was Ashley for every age because she knows how to get things out of the kids. By the way she's talks to them. She's one of the greatest instructors by far. My two kids Suba and Nisha both start with coach Ashley, and she was so great with them that I did not want to take them out but I had to move onto the new instructor. Jasmine was very hard in the beginning, but as far Nisha seems to be OK with her, but one thing good about Jasmine. She is very stern and very straight to the point and believes in her students. read more

My kids have been going here for a few months now and really enjoy it! One of them did the summer camps and one is in weekly classes. The coaches are great and do their best to keep the young kids paying attention while also having good fun. Special shout out to Coach Yadira who knows how to be silly but also makes sure the kids are safe and listening to instructions. Coach Devin and Coach Sophia have amazing patience with the younger kids and always have smiles on their faces. Coach Cinthia is usually right at the front to ask any questions-super easy to talk to. I even saw her bolt out the door when she saw a kid running out toward the parking lot. A+ team! I gave 2 stars because the gym is clean and they have a couple great coaches but most of the teachers are young and don't seem interested in engaging or encouraging the kids during class. As a beginner in gymnastics, it would be more beneficial for the kids if the teachers would stretch and show them how to do things properly instead of sitting around. Relocated to the area and was happy to find a new gym for my daughter that is close to where we live. When I came in for a tour I was hoping for her to be able to do a single trial class which from my experience with gyms is pretty standard. I guess during Covid they stopped doing this and never brought it back... which I wasn't super impressed by. PRO: there are some older teachers here who are amazing. Dedicated to teaching the kids and focusing on techniques etc. Love that. Front desk is also attentive, if the girls don't know the answer to a question they direct you to someone who does. CON: this is the one that I'm knocking stars off for.. a lot of people have complicated lives and sometimes things happen that may make you skip a class or simply be unable to attended. I had called to have my daughter to a single make up class and was told (for the first time) that make up classes are only available through zoom. - my child is 5, she is not going to focus on a computer for an hour - these classes are expensive for what you're getting and it seems reasonable to me that kids should be allowed at least 1 make up visit a month shall they miss a class. Feels like price gouging and taking advantage of people commitment to the gym to not allow in person make up in some instances.) - we do not have the equipment to follow along at home as I'm sure the average person doesn't. Lastly, I understand that teens will teach these classes. That's also standard for a lot of gyms, however, there is sometimes a lack of attentiveness because attention is elsewhere in the gym. I know young kids are hard to deal with but regardless. Parents are paying over $150 a month for 4 short classes and want their kids to learn. I wanted my daughter to stay here and we are committed to another month. However, if we leave it will be because the cost and associated rigidness of accommodating what seems reasonable. Its great place for her to use her energy, listen to directions and learn some kind of coordination. Janet is very patient with the kids and sociable. The main problem with this PAC location is that the coaches change frequently and they don't care much about the younger kids. It's hard for younger kids to adjust to a new coach every week. My kid is there for more than a year and there was no progress. If you have a kid below 6 years with no or less experience in gymnastics, I would definitely avoid going there. read more

My daughter is 6 years old and autistic (she is verbal and follow directions)she got over stimulated and the lady at the front just told her to "calm down" and by that she said that it's best if she does a one on one lesson and ended the visit then since she's being too loud! My 2-year-old has been attending the weekend toddler class and I must say we are happy we found this program. You can see the excitement on the little ones faces and the coaches are attentive to the children and parents. I understand the coaches change due however that does not take away from the development the children are having as all coaches are compatible to coach the toddler's class. My daughter took the class here for 7 weeks and I decide to discontinue here. Here are the cons I observed: 1. The teacher for the class keeps changing, even for the same month. They always have someone new to teach the class and the teacher seems to be confused about the schedule and the things the kids need to practice. They even need to be reminded by the kids and parents. 2. Most teachers in this class seems to be not happy about their job. I don't see their passion for the class and for the kids. For some teachers, I rarely heard any encouragement for the kids. They look cold and just asking the kids to do the practice following the schedule. 3. Not much attention. A lot of times I noticed some kids are not doing correctly or do not know what to do. But the teacher does not try to correct them. They just keep looking at their iPad. read more

We had our first class back and wanted to highlight some updates. We were hesitant with covid to let our children participate but really appreciate how much energy went into rearranging and planning out the gym to safely open. Everyone wore mask, the gym had clear 6ft distancing on all areas, was well ventilated and had a clear system implemented for coaches. My daughter was so excited. She talked about it all day. Her coach was equally enthusiastic and did a great job following the new protocol with young kids. We've been attending pac west for 2 years and so happy to be back. Here are a few things I noticed 1) They have rearranged entrance/exit. There are clear markers outside, all the kids had mask and hands were sanitized before going inside. He also grouped them by teacher, keeping the pods together and avoiding intermingling. He will not release your kid unless you are by the exit. 2) My daughter is 5 so I was concerned how they would maintain distance while still having fun. Insert hula hoops! She loved it, it gave her a clear boundary line and visual way to space herself from her peers. There were only 4 kids which was reasonable to manage with distancing. 3) Hand sanitizing spray. The coach sanitized their hand before moving to a new activity. She also always spaced them more than 6ft, and again utilized either their hula hoop or a designated paper on the mat to help guide them. 4) live web feed. Allows me to oversee the class without being in the building (they do have 5 open spaces for parents. First come gets the seats) this was great and I love that it is secured. read more

My daughter has been coming here for gymnastics for about 6 months now and we both absolutely love it! The coaches are high school students so sometimes you feel as though you want an expert to train your child but my daughter is in inch worms so she's pretty much learning basic fundamentals and having fun. I can definitely see improvement in my daughter every single time we come. One thing I really like about them is how much they work with you, you can schedule make up classes or switch days that are more convenient for you seamlessly. The facility is huge on the inside with a lot of equipment. The only thing I would change is that when the class does the third part of class they go to an area you can barely see your LO and I like to record everything! The older they get the more pricier it gets because of the different class levels but I'm sure that I'm keeping her here to advance her skill set. read more

Please do not waste your time here. I drove from Palo Alto during rush hour to make it to class. After waiting 10 to 15 minutes no one came to greet us or let us know where to go. There was no one at the front desk area. The one employee that did pass us, ignored us. I will find a more organized place to bring my child. We ended up leaving without even going to class because after all of the waiting my child began to have a tantrum. On a brighter note, the Fremont location seems to have it together and the receptionist there was empathetic to our situation. She ended up getting us a refund for the awful experience. read more

My 4yr old daughter loves coming here. But i'm disappointed that the coach keeps getting changed each week and they can't keep track of the kid's progress. Also they don't have in-person make up classes..only online (even if the class was not held due to a holiday). which i think is ridiculous as these young kids can't follow online instructions easily and i was exhausted helping her through the online class. Also, for makeup, it's 30min instead of the in person 50min class and there's no discount on the day even tho the class is 20min shorter. there are so many open classes other days for the same age group - why not let the little kids make up in person? i'm considering switching her to a different school just for the lack of in-person make up session. read more

I wish I had read the previous reviews before throwing more money at this immature and unprofessional sham of a Gymnastics place. I enrolled my 6 year old daughter for the summer camp. She is on the soft and sweet side of the world and the coaches definitely seem to get irritated and annoyed with her because of her nature. This aggression was so apparent that my otherwise happy kid came back home on day-2 teary-eyed and refusing to go anymore. Money down the drain but I'd much rather protect her from the brats who serve as summer camp coaches at PacWest. Perhaps if you can invest some training and energy into having some attitude and behavioral training in kindness and empathy instead of bringing tweens with attitude problems who have no clue how to handle a bunch of kids. read more

Removing my daughter when the month is over. The coaches are constantly being switched. Today at the front table one coach was talking about my daughter before class to the other coach. And I specifically heard her say the girl with the pink hair things , Gaby. These were the coaches that taught this class today supposedly the regular coach was out sick. Watching this class and the interaction with these two coaches they had no interest with my daughter at the bars or the vault because my daughter gets nervous. They seemed to get irritated with her so I pulled her out of the class and we left. At the bars the coach simply just ignored her. I wanted to say something because I can tell my daughter was being discouraged because of them. Izzy is the only one there that is friendly and patient. read more

We had our daughter's 5th birthday party at PWG yesterday, and I wanted to quickly leave a review. It was a FANTASTIC experience, for the kids and parents alike. Obviously, birthday parties are as creative as you make them, so we totally ran with the gymnastics theme throughout - complete with unified leotards for all the kids and Olympic medals - but Janet, especially, and Erika made this an amazing experience for the kids! The gym felt clean and modern. The gymnastics apparatus is all around, so it creates a genuine athletic feel. Janet kept the trains running on time, moved the party along with fun and energy, served the food, managed the birthday festivities, and corraled the kids, yet we never ever felt rushed. The beam, foam pit, swings, trampoline and obstacle course were all big hits. Not a dull moment! And while there were a couple of gymnasts practicing on the periphery (which kind of added to the sports theme), we pretty much had the gym to ourselves for the party. As the parent, you expect to have a lot to do during the party, but once we got there, the team was so helpful with everything that I had plenty of time to take pictures, connect with other parents and just be a part of the event. I can't say enough good things about our experience. I was a bit concered that an hour and 45 minutes would not be enough time for the price, but it really was a full experience. A lot of value was packed into the time, and I think any longer kids might have gotten antsy. The party definitely ended on a high, which is what you want as a host. Every single parent was pleased. I will say that I wasn't expecting to be asked to tip for this event, but I felt the tip was well earned. Just be aware that a tip will be sourced so that you're not caught off guard as you're preparing to exit. Again - well earned but I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere on the website or contract. read more

Don't waste your time here if you want to join the toddler class. Here's my daughter's 1 yr experience here: there's no designated coach, they switch the coach biweekly on average.Majority of coaches don't demonstrate the movement, some of them do but not consistently. There was one substitute coach who played on her phone during the class. If there's new student, the coach would focus on the new student the entire class and ignore other students. They have been repeating the same routine for a yr without any progress plan. Due to the class size, the coaches do not have time to correct each students' posture. I don't recommend the toddler's classes. Overall, the facility is clean. read more

Long overdue review. My daughter went to gymnastics camp for 5 days in August. I thought it would be fun for her but it was actually more stressful for me and my daughter. They opened at 7:30a however it is more of kids just sitting around until the program activities actually begin at 8:30a. The staff are all sitting on the other side staring down at their phones. It seemed that the schedule was packed with stuff for them to do - gymnastics instruction, arts and crafts, cooking, etc. There is show and tell on Fridays and they provide pizza, otherwise the kids bring their own lunch. My one very big complaint is that they do not answer phones. I called during the week to let them know my daughter has a food allergy and left a message. I also called to let them know I was going to be late due to a gravel spill on the bridge but no one answered despite my calling several times. My husband had to call their Fremont location to relay the message to Union City PacWest. That worries me especially if parents are trying to call and no one is answering their phones despite me seeing staff sitting at the desk. I've liked their Fremont PacWest location for gymnastics class but I would not send my daughter here for camp again for the phone issue. read more

I had my daughter's 6th birthday here a few weeks ago and I can't believe how easy it was. The coaches do all the work for you they help you Decorate, they serve your guests for you. They bring things in and out from your car, but the best thing is they made my daughter feel so special on her birthday. She had a blast and all the kids loved it here. We attended a birthday party here this past weekend and my kids had a blast!!! This is their kind of place - a huge space to run around in, jump, flip, crawl, swing, balance. What I like about the place is that the gym is not stuffy, except in the dining area- felt like a sauna in there in spite of the blaring fan. It isn't stinky in here either. We took a class a Bay Aerials before and it smelled like sweat and used socks in there. P.U.! The coaches seemed young, but very helpful in making the party fun AND safe for the kids. Hello Yelpers, I received a birthday party invitation for my grandson one of his classmates was having her 7th Birthday party at Pacific West Gymnastics. My Grandson 1st Grade Class has many birthday parties at all the Children Themed place available in the Fremont, Hayward and Union City Area. I pulled up the PWG on my phone and looked at the pictures and my Grandson said this don't look like fun however don't sell yourself short this place is really a great place for a birthday party and the MOST ORGANIZED HOSTS I EVER SEEN at of the 6-7 other places we've had been to for Classmates Birthday party's. The Two Hosts were Claudia and Janet they worked as good as my Rolex watch. They organized boys and girls together then girls went to the gymnastics part of the place and the boys went to the trampoline. Then the girls went to the trampoline and the boys to the BIG Jumping pit. Then back to boys and girls to do more stuff. Then Janet and Claudia hosted food time. I decided to bring my son to this facility to try it out. Instructors are young females and they do not provide any guidance. They do not demonstrate the techniques. Mind you this was important because it was beginners level 1. The mats were dirty and old. All the equipment was crammed with no space in between. Just finished our first squiggle worm trial class with Dallas and my 5 year old had a blast. She's not coordinated at all so it was interesting to see how this played out. Dallas was awesome from the start. I noticed he addressed all the kids by their first names which I thought was awesome considering there where 2 other girls doing a trial run as well. He was very patient and worked well with the kids. My daughter had a great time and the place is over all well put together. It got pretty busy around 5. Tons of people coming and going. I wish I could have had a better visual of my daughters first day but that's the mother in me. I was scolded by the other parents when I began to take a video of my daughter, apparently there's no flash photography but how the heck would I have known. There aren't any signs posted. Over all I'm excited to see how my daughter progresses. We signed up for the once a week class for just about $100. read more

My 8 year old really wanted to join gymnastics. Read the reviews and seemed like a good place to start. Was also recommended by a friend. Today was our first day. When I walk in, unfortunately we didn't get greeted or asked to be helped even though the sign said stop and wait for an agent. We waited there for about 2-3 min with no approach. The area was very open with gym mats. Lots of little ones. Seems like a class in session. To the left was a table with a worker. She was on the phone originally and seemed busy, so I approached her once she looked a little free. There was a class in session, so she said once that class is out the coach will come get the new class. There were parents sitting around. Area seemed clean. We waited outside until the other class completed & than went in as soon it was my daughter's class. She was instructed to take off shoes and socks. The coach came on called out the "beginners" and than another coach called out for "minis"... they walked into another area. I wasn't sure if I should follow, so I asked again if I was allowed to go back there. I was told there were a few seats so it was ok. When we went to the back area, it was a lot larger. With mini groups around. My daughter's group had 4 girls including her. The coaches seemed very nice. The class seemed at good pace. I would say overall the experience was great. My daughter was excited to come back for next class. We shall see how this evolves. Looking forward to the next sessions. read more

So I have a love-hate relationship with this place. My kids went here when they were little for gymnastics which was OK. Most of the instructors/coaches are young and you never know the level of coaching experience they have until you start. We are family who likes to enroll our kids into activities but actually want them to learn the fundamentals. So if you're in this for a competitiveness I suggest you ask about the coaches experience and join that team because the recreational side is not the same. We also had a small hiccup with one of the managers I believe who has an older Asian woman who was very rough with the children. Sad to say we will not be returning to this location but the gym itself is pretty bag not sure how they're doing now after Covid. read more

Pacific West was hosting the state judging test to become a gymnastics official. After the test was done, I had to take my daughter in to use the bathroom before we started our two hour drive back home. The manager there went above and beyond and was waiting for us after to load my kiddo up with goodies for the car ride back. I was so impressed and appreciative! It shows the love and care for kids, even if they aren't enrolled as students. If I was in the area, this is definitely where I would look for classes for my kiddo! It's the little things. So my daughter is currently enrolled and we have done 2 classes so far. I must say I am very disappointed in what I have seen in terms of teaching and training. Given that she is 5 yrs old and is new - the expectation that she will understand what/how to do push ups/sit ups /do bar exercises is a bit unrealistic. The instructor she got in day 1 was absolutely rude and loud. She did zero teaching and only Kept getting upset that kids didn't follow her instructions. There were 8 Kids and 2 of them new - not sure what she was expecting and without proper training I doubt any child can just see and learn. The 2nd week - there were 6 kids and 2 trainers. Both of them paid zero attention to the kids, didn't make any effort to show how to do the exercises and actually used one of the other kid in the class to show how to flip on the bar. I'm really not sure what I'm paying for - other younger class kids to train my daughter or experienced teachers to train her. In any case 2 weeks have been utterly disappointing and I'm hoping to talk to them this week to see how things can improve read more

My daughter attended this location and she loved her dance class due to her teacher being friendly with the children. However, the gymnastics class she was previously enrolled in was dreadful to watch, as young children (3-4yrs) sat on the mat for a long period of time to get a turn on the bar, and the class was repetitive, as they did the same thing every time. Direct Staff were not professional nor friendly with the children. Costumer service at the front desk from all staff is terrible and unprofessional. They do not care for the students nor the families, they only care to increase business. That's the reason I decided to take my daughter out, it's not worth the money nor the bad experiences. We have been going to Pacific West Gymnastics for years! Our kids are now 4 and 5.5 and we've been going since they could barely walk. They love the coaches they've had, love the management and love gymnastics! The relationships they've built with the coaches/staff is priceless. We love that they have Open Gym every Friday for FREE for all members. Kids love going to that. They also offer camps, Tae Kwon Do, Dance, Cheer, etc. And amazing birthday parties! This is THE local gym for kids. Though we know of neighbors' kids in the competitive program, our experience is recreational. Our 1.5yo son and 3.5yo daughter go. They actually share the first half of class together before splitting into one class with older kids and without parents, while younger ones go with their parents to another. My daughter's physical confidence has grown tremendously. Though she was afraid at first, now she'll swing from the bar, dive into the foam pit, and go on the large rope swing. More importantly, the classes are just a lot of fun. The kids spend a lot of time running around in this gigantic padded room filled with things to play on. Crazy go nuts. Meanwhile, their father does the same. The other parents tend to be fun to talk to, which is a great bonus. It sure beats Pump it Up. Classes also come with free open gym time on Fridays. The coaches, Evelyn and Janet, are both hilarious and understand kids. I'm glad to have met them. read more

My daughter was in a class in union city and the coaches were a joke. I would ask about her progress and never got anything from them. I am so disappointed that I took her there for 6 months. She was stuck in a level and never progressed. My daughter was better than the level above hers and no one ever really did acknowledge that she needed to be in a higher level. She was never challenged and she was treated poorly. The administration is even worse. I took her out of the class for good. They were so rude and didn't want to refund me for the month we quit. Plus I was charged twice for the same thing. I would not recommend this place because they are a joke and there is no instruction for the kids without the teenagers giving so much attitude.
