Twenty years ago our daughter started at Yoko's and the benefits from dance techniques, poise, athleticism, and interpersonal skills continue to this day. No pictures of the actual performance (no pictures/video) allowed of the live performance but the pictures of the theater stage/curtain and their extensive array of exquisite Nut Crackers for sale. A must see event, especially if you are the proud parents of one or more of the dancers! Many thanks to the nice folks at Fletcher Jones Audi, Fremont for their sponsorship of this event!

Then came covid in 2020 and I stopped dancing entirely up until 2024 where I had to start over again and luckily I found Hermosura Dance Productions (HDP). I've been taking bachata classes at HDP for about 6-7 months now and I must say that Helen is a fantastic teacher! She focuses on building a strong foundation to make you a better dancer which other schools just don't teach which I wish I had engrained in me when I first started dancing. On top of the fundamentals, Helen teaches nice patterns that allow you to dance with people of different levels (as a leader, this has been great!). She also provides constructive feedback during class to help you improve your dancing as well as understand how it is danced (e.g. in bachata you are pushing the floor with your feet). I highly recommend going to HDP for classes or tailored lessons, depending on your needs. Helen teaches many styles of dance from salsa on 1 (and on 2), cumbia, bachata, and rueda. Even if you've never danced before, you will be welcomed to class as if you were a regular so don't be afraid to sign up for your first class!

If you are looking for a supportive, strong dance community in the South Bay, this is it!!…read more I've always followed choreographers who teach at Redwall but was intimidated to actually take a class. I started by participating in their Spring Showcase and it was SO worth it! I love how you have 2 months of rehearsal with the same group before performing on a stage for all your family and friends! The support from teachers and fellow students was overwhelmingly positive. I will definitely be performing in future showcases. I haven't taken many drop-in classes but the ones that I have are always thorough and a great workout. The prices are a little higher compared to other studios but I rationalize it with the experience that these teachers bring. Also love the class bundle options that let you really work on a piece for a few weeks before professional(!!) filming. My showcase rehearsals ran from 8-10 PM and I never felt unsafe walking back to my car. Plenty of street parking along the roads and someone from class was always willing to walk with me. The building can be a bit confusing the first time since the studios are not connected by a hallway but just ask around and you will find your way.

Amazing humble talent and everyone is a hype squad for each other. $20-$25 for TWO hours! The studio has a cool backdrop wall + lighting + videographer (who may or may not take forever to edit and post the videos)! It can be pretty packed so no going full out until you split into groups. I wish the location wasn't so sketchy. It's just a brick building in a semi industrial area. Street parking with some seemingly worn abandoned cars. Easy to miss the studio if you're not intentionally looking for it. Because they rent the space per dance slot, there is no lobby or main entrance. You can wait in your car or right outside the classroom. I was early and felt a little iffy even in broad daylight. I only knew this cos a friend told me in advance - you have to show your confirmation email or text to enter. They should write that somewhere in the confirmation. I like that the teachers will post what songs they're doing in advance, prior to sign-ups, and will likely come back upon occasion.

Premier Ballroom is back to being Premier after a few years as "Synergy Ballroom"…read more The owners are long time ballroom dancers, and do their best to keep a comfortable place, and a great floor for a wide range of dancers--from those just getting started, wedding couples preparing for their first dance, or folks practicing for their next competition. The hours do vary a little bit depending on what day it is, but if you stop by in the late afternoon, or evening you are likely to find somebody who can help you learn more about dancing. Dancers don't do mornings, or before 3 PM. Full disclosure: I teach at Premier Ballroom as an independent contractor, but there are several teachers that work there with a wide variety of dance styles, and you should stop by if it is close to home for you, and you want to learn to dance.

The space itself fit a lot of people and there was ample space to move around. The guy at the front desk was super nice helping us check in and gave us masks to wear since we forgot to bring ours. By no means am I a skilled dancer, but not once did I ever feel bad for coming in at my skill level. The instructor and the other folks taking the class created an environment where you could have fun and learn something as long as you show up and do your best, regardless of skill level. And even though I'm uncoordinated and had struggled a bit for my mind/body to process the same thing (lol), everyone was super encouraging and I never got the vibe that people thought they were better - it was like we were all there to have fun and groove to some good music.
