Then came covid in 2020 and I stopped dancing entirely up until 2024 where I had to start over again and luckily I found Hermosura Dance Productions (HDP). I've been taking bachata classes at HDP for about 6-7 months now and I must say that Helen is a fantastic teacher! She focuses on building a strong foundation to make you a better dancer which other schools just don't teach which I wish I had engrained in me when I first started dancing. On top of the fundamentals, Helen teaches nice patterns that allow you to dance with people of different levels (as a leader, this has been great!). She also provides constructive feedback during class to help you improve your dancing as well as understand how it is danced (e.g. in bachata you are pushing the floor with your feet). I highly recommend going to HDP for classes or tailored lessons, depending on your needs. Helen teaches many styles of dance from salsa on 1 (and on 2), cumbia, bachata, and rueda. Even if you've never danced before, you will be welcomed to class as if you were a regular so don't be afraid to sign up for your first class!

The instructor Yaoyao is apparently professional and experienced in teaching little kids. She was very patient when my daughter was too nervous to participate in the beginning. They host recitals every December and May, which are such a special opportunity for the kids to showcase what they've learned. A friend of mine was participating so I went to attend it. I thought I will check out her performance, meet her and will come back but I stayed there for the entire event. Their dance performances were soooo good. Overall 10-12 dance groups performed. Toddlers, kids, youth, and adults all were part of different groups. I was amazed that they could train toddlers as well. It is one tough job, I must say. Kids danced well and co-ordination was good. It was surely difficult to teach them as well. Dances by youth were great and it was apparent that they were their students from a long time. Dances by adults were good and most people in the group had never performed in their entire life. Now this is surely a motivation to learn to dance ;) There were 3 performances by their advance students and they were mind blowing. Their moves and performances were so mesmerizing that you will have no idea about your surroundings and time. I loved all of their performances and will surely join them in future. To my delight and amazement, Reshmi and Mahi, her company partner, squeezed us in on the incredibly short time crunch. We had 5 lessons and the entire process was fun, enjoyable and SO worth it. Mahi and Reshmi are patient, friendly, and their passion for dancing and helping people genuinely comes through in their lessons. They listened to us, made suggestions on different steps and always gave me and my fiancé constructive criticism. I was also blown away by the variety of dances Reshmi and Mahi are trained in: from salsa to Bhangra, western, formal, and waltz, they make everything look good! For the most part, it seems that the better dancers were trained elsewhere and not at this place. Another problem that we have come across is that the teachers seem to have favorites among the students and disproportionately focus on them. This can be more demoralizing for the other children who want to learn. Moreover, the studio has a permanent cat, which presented allergy complications for our daughter. Though they started this problem with an air purifier, it didn't work and finally we had to take her out. In general, this school would probably be suitable only for kids who want a more fun filled and less structured approach experience. Parents who are looking for serious training or an all round environment should opt for another school.

I started by participating in their Spring Showcase and it was SO worth it! I love how you have 2 months of rehearsal with the same group before performing on a stage for all your family and friends! The support from teachers and fellow students was overwhelmingly positive. I will definitely be performing in future showcases. I haven't taken many drop-in classes but the ones that I have are always thorough and a great workout. The prices are a little higher compared to other studios but I rationalize it with the experience that these teachers bring. Also love the class bundle options that let you really work on a piece for a few weeks before professional(!!) filming. My showcase rehearsals ran from 8-10 PM and I never felt unsafe walking back to my car. Plenty of street parking along the roads and someone from class was always willing to walk with me. The building can be a bit confusing the first time since the studios are not connected by a hallway but just ask around and you will find your way.

Amazing humble talent and everyone is a hype squad for each other. $20-$25 for TWO hours! The studio has a cool backdrop wall + lighting + videographer (who may or may not take forever to edit and post the videos)! It can be pretty packed so no going full out until you split into groups. I wish the location wasn't so sketchy. It's just a brick building in a semi industrial area. Street parking with some seemingly worn abandoned cars. Easy to miss the studio if you're not intentionally looking for it. Because they rent the space per dance slot, there is no lobby or main entrance. You can wait in your car or right outside the classroom. I was early and felt a little iffy even in broad daylight. I only knew this cos a friend told me in advance - you have to show your confirmation email or text to enter. They should write that somewhere in the confirmation. I like that the teachers will post what songs they're doing in advance, prior to sign-ups, and will likely come back upon occasion.
