Getting his belt and first stripe

I enrolled my 5 year old son at Impact Martial Arts, and given his age he was put in the excellent kids program. I am very pleased with the program and the entire staff who quickly become family. Uncle Jon (the instructor) teaches them different values which include - discipline, respect, focus, balance... they also learn about being a kind human. The classes are enjoyable for my son who gets bored quickly. I love the cardio exercises and mostly love how much my son is in to it. Uncle Jon and Auntie Jana are both great with kids. My son talks about Uncle Jon all the time and is always looking forward to the next class. Most importantly, I saw an immediate positive change in his behavior after a couple of sessions. He really values the lessons and takes pride in gaining new stripes on his belt. I am looking forward to him growing as advancing at Impact Martial Arts! Thanks Uncle Jon and Auntie Jana for an enjoyable experience and your loving care!

My daughter has been going here for a year and we love it. They have always been so sweet and welcoming since day one to us. It is such a family friendly environment and just what I was looking for. You can tell uncle John n his wife really care about there students and progress. They make sure to include each child n give them the attention that is needed when working with them. I see them go above and beyond for there students and love seeing my daughter enjoy karate as much as she does, as well as watching her progress since she's s started here. I would highly recommend this place

Uncle John. And auntie Jana are wonderful instructors who really connect with the kids and make you really feel.like . family.

My son just turned 2.5 years old. Can he also join this school? Also, are there any weekend classes available?

Hi, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the youngest age that we take is 4 years old. We will be offering weekend classes in the near future.

I've been to three different kickboxing/ mma gyms in Hayward but I really wanted to focus on real boxing. Despite the name, thats what US Karate & Boxing offers. Ive been training here for almost 3 years now and I can honestly say it has helped shape me into a more confident and healthy person. All thanks to Coach Joe and his son Coach Caleb. They have taught me so much and have helped me improve since the first day I walked in. They prioritize technique and take time to focus on everyone. They have different time slots for different skill levels, so you never feel overwhelmed. Each class usually consists of warm up, conditioning, drills, then light sparring but sparring is optional if you only want to work out. There are currently two amateur fighters, in the gym so if you're looking to compete then look no further. A membership includes two classes a week, and access to the gym outside of your training sessions. They have a ring, heavy bags, and a squat rack. It is a pretty small facility but its perfect if you don't care about the latest training equipment and want that old school boxing gym vibe. Training at US Karate & Boxing has easily been one of the best choices I've made, and I will continue to train here for the foreseeable future.

After doing MixxedFit for about 2 years I decided to try something different as I was puttering out due to the location and late time. TBK offers high intensity work outs from krav fit boot camp, kickboxing, karate (for kids and adults) with a schedule of classes in the mornings, evenings and Saturdays...hard to make excuses there. Owner/Instructor Anthony Brewer who is a Certified Trainer, holds 5 black belts, is a World Karate and 3x National Jujitsu Champion (Dayyyyumm! and the list goes on) teaches the class along with Jalen, longtime-student/instructor...can you say intimidating?! Definitely not, but motivating! Anthony and Jalen both guide you through the workouts at each station (bike, rowing machine, kettle bell, ropes, dumb bells, medicine ball, etc while showing you the proper technique to maximize the workout and make it fun (with music!). This is definitely a no pressure, work-at-your own pace class but at the same time both are there to encourage students to push through. So far, its been my 2nd week and though challenging has been great...I'll admit the first few classes kicked my 'arse' (good thing) and also felt light-headed afterwards but Anthony educated me on what I need to change and provided a booklet (first day) on nutrition, journaling, food list/meals, etc. Something, I need to read and follow but trying to focus on getting in a routine first...yes the struggle is real! :P I really like that staff and students are very welcoming and helpful to newbies like myself! So if you want a place with no 'hipster-tude', not be judged because you're not wearing Lululemon, and don't 'need-to-be-fit' to get fit (clean) environment, check out Team Brewer Karate in Downtown Hayward. Plenty of FREE street parking and a municipal lot next door.

Jitsu Has Truly Transformed My Daughter's Confidence…read more Choosing Jitsu for my daughter was intentional. I wanted her to learn how to protect herself -- and if needed, to protect her little sister and her friends. I wanted her to grow up knowing she was strong, aware, and capable. What I didn't realize was how much more this journey would give her. When she first joined, she was shy and uncertain, but everything changed once she stepped onto the mat and into a community that believed in her. Having her best friend there made the experience even more special. They pushed each other, laughed through tough drills, and grew side by side in ways only true teammates can. Now it's been two years and counting, and she's still not sick of it -- not even close. If anything, she loves it more than when she started. That alone tells you they're doing something completely right. One of the biggest takeaways she's held onto is: "Never cry on the mat." And she takes it very literally -- but honestly, it's not a bad thing. For her, it means fight harder, stay focused, and don't give up. We get it... but let's be real, moms are absolutely allowed to cry on the sidelines. As a mom, it still scares me watching her train and compete -- that feeling never truly goes away. But her confidence has grown so strong that she's now the one asking me to sign her up for competitions. Seeing her walk onto the mat with purpose and pride is something I never imagined two years ago. I have to give so much credit to Jorge, Coach Chris, and Coach Brandon. They prepare her for every competition with patience, discipline, and unwavering belief in her. They've helped shape her into a girl who isn't afraid to push herself, challenge herself, and trust her own strength. Because of them, my heart is at ease a little more each time she competes. Jitsu didn't just teach her self-defense -- it opened a whole new world inside her. One filled with courage, growth, friendship, and confidence. Watching her transform has been one of the greatest gifts, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.

He has fun. Coach Chris, Jorge, and team have a created a captivating learning environment and community where discipline, respect, and confidence are foundational virtues to compliment the knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu . Then I thought about martial arts... It's something I've always wanted to try. This is my first martial arts training ever, and I've taken the plunge. I'm training in both Aikido and Iaido, from Sandoval Sensei. Last year, I had a 6 week sabbatical, during which I was determined to get into an exercise regiment. When I first started training, learning how to fall was a daunting task. I know that sounds weird, let me explain. In Aikido, we generally train in pairs -- with one person being the attacker. During a technique, the attacker needs to be able to take the technique without being injured. Likewise, the person being attacked needs sensitivity to know their partner's limits. What keeps bringing me back is Sandoval Sensei and the people who train here. The people who train at this dojo are all genuinely nice people. The students here come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, yet the we all get along on and off the mat. Prices are extremely low for the quality and quantity of training that is offered. I'm so lucky I decided to train here! They also offer kids classes, and the instructors are very good with kids.
