At one point, the entire jump area felt like it was being taken over just for him, and he was encouraging kids to join in. Parents began pulling their children off the trampolines--it was that unsettling. I calmly approached a staff member who seemed intimidated and unwilling to step in. When I raised my concerns to the manager, she completely dismissed them and defended the boy, saying, "He's a great guy. He wouldn't hurt anyone." She insisted he wasn't breaking any rules--even though it was clearly stated over the loudspeaker. It felt like she knew him personally , and her biased attitude showed a complete lack of concern for guest safety or policy enforcement. We left immediately, as I no longer felt my children were safe. This location needs serious oversight and better training for its management

The Florence Rail Trail is a great place to run, walk, or bike in Florence. It has mile markers…read moreevery .24 miles, and these are correct (according to my Garmin). This trail is paved for about 1.5 miles- 3 miles total if you run the whole thing out and and back. After that, it's a bit rocky but you can still walk or run. There's a small parking lot right off Ebenezer Rd., and some neighborhoods you can run through if you want to log some extra miles. The trail also has garbage cans and a bench at around the 1/2 mile mark. The only downside I've ever experienced running here is that sometimes you have to watch out for off-leash dogs. For the most part, people keep their dogs on the leash but occasionally someone will let the dog off. Other than that, the rail trail is flat, fast, and a great place to do a workout.

There is a few fun things to do in this small town with little ones but I have to say one of the best times my girls had was here at Miss Colleen's Play Zone. One of the highlights for them was the giant ball pit. You can't see it from the outside looking in but there is a hidden slide my daughter found that goes right into the pit. She loved that!! What I loved the most about this place was it was baby friendly for my 1.5 year old who I'm always nervous about getting on the bigger equipment and getting hurt. It's set up in a way that it's not that easy for the littlest ones to get up to the climbing areas that the bigger kids can. There was so much for her entertainment on the floor area to do while her big sister (4.5yrs) was busy climbing through the giant wooden fort with slides above the ground level. A small tip is to make sure to pack some socks for your children as they need this to play. Miss Colleen was so sweet to offer us some that she had since we didn't realize this and showed up in sandals. I so wish we had this where we live in a small town of North Central Florida. This would be a big hit for mamas and there little ones trying to get out of the Florida heat and keep their children busy. If we end up in Hartsville again I am absolutely returning with my girls for a visit. Miss Colleen if you read this please know I think you are Godsend for mothers of small children...to be open during the week in your community and not just the weekend for parties. Today, no ladle in alfredo sauce , noodles looked horrible & some were hard, picked up a bowl and water went all over the place. Pizza looked like it had been sitting out a while and tasted horrible. The brownies & cinnamon rolls were dry and hard. I will say there is one guy who I see in here often who was doing his job well. wish I knew his name. He was going around checking on guests, grabbing plates & cleaning off tables.

Reptile Lagoon @ South of the Border - Hamer, SC…read more (3 out of 5 stars) If you're visiting South of the Border, one of the more unusual attractions on-site is the Reptile Lagoon--it's advertised as one of the largest indoor reptile exhibits in the U.S., and it definitely has a wide variety of snakes, lizards, turtles, and of course... alligators and crocodiles. My husband, daughter, and I checked it out during our stop (we also spent over an hour in Pedro's Mexican Shop West--another quirky and fun spot here). But unfortunately, just like much of the South of the Border compound, the Reptile Lagoon desperately needs a fresh coat of paint. It's looking dingy inside and out, and that really takes away from the experience. Here's my biggest concern: While the smaller reptiles seem to be in okay enclosures for now, the alligators and crocodiles are kept in spaces that are far too small for their size and needs. It was honestly upsetting. These are large, powerful animals that deserve much more space, proper enrichment, and better conditions. I strongly believe they should be relocated to a proper sanctuary where they can thrive. The baby gators might be okay temporarily, but once they grow, they'll need a better environment too. The exhibit itself could be great if given some attention--cleaner enclosures, updated paint, better lighting, and more naturalistic habitats would go a long way. It's still worth checking out if you're already at South of the Border, but I'd love to see some major improvements before I could recommend it fully. South of the Border Overview: This place has a lot of fun, nostalgic roadside charm, dating back to 1949. But it's clear that the entire compound--from shops to attractions--needs upkeep. With the right care, it could be a truly great destination again.

Incredible! I never thought I'd find pizza like this in Florence SC…read more The place is not fancy, badly needs updating inside. Guess what? Even as an interior designer who'd normally be offended at such a thing- I am NOT because this is the best pizza in all of South Carolina and possibly in 3 states! Firstly, the people are super friendly and they remember their customers' faces. They make the pizza right in front, so as soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted with grace, you smell the delish, and see the brick oven and the prep area. Their dough: I don't know what they do to make it like crack, but with brick oven pizza, the dough can make it or break it. This dough is the tastiest and the best texture I've had in decades. The sauce: perfect acidity on the tomato sauce; I haven't had any of their "white" sauces, so can't comment. Their pizza of the month is usually creative and is always great! I've had some combinations at Rebel that I'd never, ever think to put together. Someone has a great palate there! We generally eat at Rebel Pie once a week- and have never tired of it. My mom is 88, sadly can't remember most things, but when I say "want Rebel Pie for dinner?" she says "YES YUM PLEASE!"
