Worst Chuck E Cheese Ever!! Went to the Newark location last week and was so disappointed ( I'll write a separate review on that) that we wanted to give this location closer to our house a chance. What a mistake!! We were only there for a good 10 mins until we couldn't take the smell and not to mention the bad customer service too. Well technically we couldn't get any service because no one was available to service us while the manager ( I'm assuming) was working the door and didn't bother to get anyone to service us while we stood at the register waiting to purchase food. It seemed like they were very understaffed so we left. The smell was horrible tho, I couldn't bare it. It smelled like wet dog from entrance and lingered‍ Beware of the Smell!! Chuck E Cheese is a great place for young kids if they like games ! The games are fun, trying to win tickets is a blast, watching the characters & videos on stage is also fun to do. The pizza is mediocre but the overall experience makes up for it. They do have a salad bar & beer on tap ... including an IPA. At times they can keep it cleaner & I wish they offered BETTER prizes for the kids after winning tickets. Overall, it's a fun experience for families who like games. We booked my daughter's birthday party. The whole place was in total chaos they had 6 parties happening at the same time so the hosts were stretched thin and basically we barely got any help. The thing that irked me the most was the ending of the party, my daughter had to do the ticket blaster and was waiting in line patiently. The girl operating the ticket blaster was letting other kids cut the line ahead of her, so we brought it up to her that our kid has been waiting for a while and should get her turn soon. The machine ran out of tickets so she went to get them and sent another supervisor instead. The supervisor instead of apologizing started yelling at my husband that we spoke to the previous girl rudely and made her cry. We responded that we did not yell and only brought up that she never gave our daughter a turn even after waiting patiently. The lady then went on to falsely accuse that we were trying to fit 6 kids but paid only for 1 kid, my husband and I lost it then and yelled at the lady. She locked the ticket blaster and told us my daughter won't have a turn I asked her to open it since she was ruining my daughter's birthday for no reason. After opening the machine she throws the tickets to show her anger, my daughter goes in grabs few tickets and the machine stopped, the supervisor again when my daughter was about to leave yanked the tickets out of her hand, I lost it and told her we will never come back here again. Went to the manager and gave him a download and all he said was sorry nothing else. We left with such a bad feeling and memory and they ruined our daughter's birthday for no reason. read more

Micha (Manager) Is an employers dream. I would have been very confedent and happy if he had ran my restaurant before I sold it. I come here on occasion and I have gotten the opportunity to interact with him and the amazing staff everytime I patronize this place. Food is always on point, staff is always helpful, and the machines mostly all work.. Most of all my kids love Chucky and at this location he come out and interacts with everyone unlike other locations I have been too. Keep up the good work. read more

This place is okay. It's very small and not many attractions for kids. It's always dirty. It's a quick little run around for my toddler. I don't let her touch much, literally just run around. The machines are always broken. Decided to go to the one near New Park mall and had a way better experience. read more

My goodness, it's been about 10 years since my last visit to Chuck E. Cheese and it hasn't changed much at all. When you walk in, it smells like a dirty gym filled with sweaty people... except in this case, a whole bunch of sweaty, dirty kids. Compared to the location in San Jose, it's way smaller and spans across one floor. I didn't play any of the games but got to try their white sauce chicken pizza, chicken nuggets, and vegetable platter. Nothing struck me as amazing. After all, it is Chuck E. Cheese. Just your average party food options. Reservations seem to fill quickly and by the hour, so make sure you have ample time reserved for your party before they boot you out of the long table area for another party reservation. During the later half of your party, there's a countdown till Chuck E. Cheese comes dawning with his presence from the Costume Room right next to the stage, in which you're supposed to shout and cheer. Hurrrayyyyyy! He's a little frightening looking, and what I may even consider dirty looking, but whatever. Whatever makes the kids happy I guess. Take your photos, sing 'Happy Birthday', clap and shout, and after a good 10 minutes or so, he leaves. The kids love it. The adults, meh not so much. I will point out that the staff is exceptionally helpful and courteous! The girl that was helping us at our table was super sweet and was the most energetic of the staff bunch. She was constantly smiling and super nice! I wish I got her name, but she was the sweet girl with the dark blonde tied up pony tail, bangs and black framed glasses. Shout out to you girl! We decided this year to have my son's birthday party here. My son has always loved Chuck E. Cheese. I know that it is commercial. I know it is (forgive me) Cheesey. But the online booking went seamlessly. It was incredibly easy to customize the party, there is a direct evite option, and they allow changes right up until the end as your numbers change. The only thing I had to do was order what I want, set up the evite and monitor my guest list (oh and I ordered the cake separately). Other than that, show up 15 minutes before the party and they will set you up. The only hard part during the whole party was rounding the kids up for the birthday show. Everything else was painless. The kids loved it and had a blast. I loved it because I didn't have to clean up anything afterwards. Easiest party ever. The food was even better than expected (maybe only because I was expecting the worst -lol). Plus, Chuck E Cheese is so much cheaper than the other similar birthday party options out there like Pump it Up. I know because I checked out at least 6 different places while researching my son's birthday party. That was more work than the party itself. This particular location is cleaner and bigger than the one in Concord. It isn't as nice as the one we used to go to when we lived in San Diego, but nice enough with plenty of games to keep the kids happy. read more

Bad air circulation. Floors are dirty. The games need to be updated. Lacks variety. Some games are broken. There's 1 person that goes around fixing them but he's very slow. All the workers seem like they dont want to be there. Prizes lack variety too. Restrooms were gross and out of soap. Good part is that the ticket counting machines were efficient and plentiful. And they do make sure you're going home with the right kid. My 3 year old had more fun feedimg the ticket machine than playing the games. Highly recommend the money value credit option for card (vs time credit) if your child doesnt play fast enough like my 3 year old. Also we went on a Sunday. It was crowded. After Tomomi read my scathing review of the Hayward Chuck E Cheese and swore off the chain, I decided I'd better Yelp one of the better franchises. My kids always have fun at this one. It's a more typical one, relatively clean, and the staff usually tries to be helpful. The kids love to "crash" the birthday parties and watch the scary animatronic rodents perform. I still think the prizes for tickets are way "overpriced". The Jungle does it better with lots of options under 5 tickets. I actually kind of like the pizza here. Boy, that was embarrassing to say. But it's not so good I would make a trip here just for the 'za. read more

If you just want to do a quick check-in and have kids enjoy a little playtime, this is ideal for the little ones. The games are OK and to the low end, but cost very little. Had birthday party here, the food sucks (as usual with party places), especially the pizza, rubbery. The mascot or whatever is pretty silly. The one in San Jose is very bad, difficult to park in additional to all the mess. The one in Cupertino is better than this one in Dublin, better games though this one has better service. read more

Recently they are offering $5 pizzas, and have painted this promotion all over their windows as a sign of probably how difficult business is for them these days. I feel very sad that Covid has affected so many restaurants, and will probably change the landscape in terms of places for our kids. read more

This is a difficult review because the staff is really great but the facility is unimpressive. Every single staff person was friendly and helpful and patient with the young children. Unfortunately the food menu is pretty mediocre, mostly junk food (i.e. pathetic looking pizza) though there is a serviceable salad bar. Thumbs up for unlimited self-serve soft drinks; thumbs down for the mediocre beer. CC should take a page from the nearby competition "SF" and add some decent microbrew beer and a coffee bar. The games are okay - there was enough variety to keep an 8 and 5 year old busy for the better part of two hours. But nothing close to what you find at competitor D&B. The carpets smell and look disgusting - thankfully there is plenty of hand sanitizer available but I wouldn't want to visit during flu season. In sum I will be generous with a 3 rating as both my children left happy, but clearly CC does not put any money into facility maintenance or updating, and it shows. read more

The manager is a rude, cranky, fat raging b****. At least I think it's the manager. A useless one at that. Line to order stuff was a mile longer. 3 cash wraps and the only one trying to help a customer was the, I assume, new girl. She was struggling to help and ring up the family in front of me.... that single transaction took over 10 minutes and in the mean time, no other cashier was doing anything useful. The line built up to be ridiculously long behind me. The manager came to "assist" 3 times without actually getting anything done. While my friends and I were sitting there eating in the birthday tables section, she came over to yell at us that we weren't allowed to sit there. Wtf??? First off, we were with a birthday group and didn't just arbitrarily pick that table. And second, there's no need to scream at paying patrons. Apparently the birthday sections are time blocked. Which is fine, but screaming (literally) at us to move cuz we aren't part of a birthday section doesn't accomplish anything and won't prompt us to move. Try being polite and explaining the seating time blocking instead of screaming that we aren't allowed to sit somewhere cuz you are incorrectly assuming that we aren't part of a birthday party. I am amazed at how many people are employed at this establishment and yet it takes forever to get anything, if at all. Broken game? Tickets run out? Good luck, cuz while there seemed to be hella workers milling about, good luck trying to locate one when you actually need help. The guy and gal workers who were wearing glasses were very pleasant. We came here on a Tuesday early afternoon (12:30PM) and we practically had the whole place to themselves! There were about 6 other kids and $30.00 of tokens kept them busy for about 90 minutes. They had a couple of busted games but the maintenance guy was very nice and gave us additional tokens to keep the kids happy. read more

We take our son to CEC's only when we don't want the crowds at Super Franks. The food here is bad. The pizza is card board, the service is horrible. You can stand at the counter and have an employee that's on break watch you stand there. I do have to give it to them for being clean. Sunday we were at a birthday party and the CEC hosts were nice. It felt rushed and we were crammed next to the only other party at that time. It would have been better to have every other table. read more

Terrible experience. Booked my sons party here for a 3pm slot. Get there and get told that we are at table 6. We walk over to the table only to find that there is another kids name on the table and it is a complete mess. My son is sad now because he had been waiting for this day for weeks and wanted to see his name on the table. We walk back over to the manger and tell him, and he then goes over and checks and realizes the table was never set up for us or cleaned from the last party. My son is impatient and wants to go play on the games. I am so upset at this and let him know that this is unacceptable this is my Childs birthday and I have guests coming and a cake. They say they are going to clean it up I walk away and just decide to buy my son some play time so he can play while I sort this out with the staff. Even doing that was impossible because the kiosk to buy time or tokens are BOTH down so everyone now has to stand in line and buy from the food counter and its packed. Terrible! Finally, the table is ready, and I again let the manager know this is such a bad experience already. When we get to the table to sit down, we see that they rushed so fast to clean the table that there is food and cake all over the seats, so we have to clean our own seats off. Again, table is not set up so no plates, cups or the goody bags nothing and still no name on the end of the table. Finally, he gets his bracelet to go play. The coordinator comes and finally introduces herself to us and says that our table was not ready because she was on break. Really? You guys can't manage to get birthday parties together because your employee is on break, how about have another associate do it? how about the manager do it? How about you have enough staff to cover breaks? We go into the party and things start to settle as the guests come, the manager comes up to me and apologizes and gives me 2,000 tokens free for the trouble we went through I thanked him and just moved on. The cake part of the day was cool, my son got to meet chuck e cheese, but we had to ask for them to do the ticket blaster, they never coordinated with us to tell us how the day was going to go. We only asked because it was now almost 5pm and that is the end time for the party and we still had not received the blaster or pinata that was on the party reservations. He actually did the blaster @5:03pm and the pinata we just had to take home. Sad. I wish that was the end of the bad experience but it was not, with the 2,000 token we got as well as what my son won we head to the prize counter to go and pick out a prize and I show my son the 4,000 categories because that's what he can get, he gets excited because he sees a game he wants and points to it smiling. The lady at the counter who was not friendly at all walks away to the back and comes out saying they have none. I tell her there is about 4 of them right there can't we just get one of those. She says no that's too high and she is not going to get it down for us. She says matter of fact my son can only have stuff that is within in her reach. Are you kidding me????? So now the apology I was given is useless (the 2,000 tokens) because all my son can even get is items that this lady can reach. She makes no apologies and has complete attitude about it. I finally just told her that we had a terrible experience having a party here and now this is just even more ridiculous, and she writes a guy name Tony's phone number down and hands it to me on some receipt paper to call him and tell him about it. My son is visibly just sad and wants to go home now. He says he just wants some of the small things in the box and we go. The total cost for my party was 249.53. They did not charge me for a kid that came in late and that was supposed to make up for all of this. NO, I would have rather been charged full price to have a better experience. I feel like I was duped out of my 250. I feel like they owe my son a better birthday than this and I am so upset that this is how we were treated. If you want to run a children's place on a Saturday have enough staff to do so. There were lines everywhere kiosks breaking down and just look at what I went through trying to have a party there. Never will I ever do this again and will continue to post my reviews on my experience and let my friends and family know to not go here. Terrible. read more

Absolute the worst birthday experience I have had!!! The host wasn't at our table 20-25 mins after our party was suppose to start. We had to ask for plates, cups and the play cards. We received our pizza and 10 mins later they wanted to bring our cake out to sing happy birthday....WTF! We told them no and our cake was still out and we had to tell them to send it back. This place wants you in and off the tables as quick as possible. Nothing about this experience is worth spending any money on. Had come to this Chuck E. Cheese a few years ago for my son's friend's birthday and hadn't enjoyed it. So when my son wanted to go for his birthday, I wasn't enthusiastic. But I was pleasantly surprised. The staff greeted us cheerfully and made a point to check on us regularly. I like that they use arcade cards now instead of tokens, and that you can order food via kiosk. Place felt cleaner, too, and more open. To be clear: we didn't do a formal, booked birthday party, so I can't speak to that. We just went as a family and met some friends there for my son's birthday. My son had his birthday party here. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The only good thing was the games, my son and his friends enjoyed them. The service was absolutely terrible. The staff wasn't balanced out at all. I waited for 35 minutes and 23 seconds to order my food, and I was first in line. Meanwhile our cashier was making small talk with a fellow co-worker. When I came back to my table, my son was crying because of the animatronics. To cheer him up, I took him to the ticket redeemer so he could some toys. But guess what happened? Every single ticket redeemer was broken,except one. That made my son cry even more because we had to wait line. THEN he peed his pants because the worker yelled at him for crying. Guys, this is a racist business. They have serious issues. My very dear friend (who runs a non-profit) was not allowed to buy $3,000 worth of Chuck E Cheese gift cards because she is African American. She had clarified everything in advance over the phone, and everything was cleared. When she drove in person to the office, she was given the run around: The manager told her, "I don't have that many cards here." She told him, "We called earlier and were told they did have the tickets." He said he could not help her, so she asked to speak to the district manager. He said, "You could only get them online." When she asked to buy the handful of cards that she saw, the manager only let her buy 2 cards and said, "My boss said I could only sell you 2 cards." She asked if they had a policy that they could only sell two cards and was told, "My manager said you can only have 2 cards." Later, she called his manager and asked if this was policy (She knew it wasn't because she has bought these cards for the last 5 years through a white co-worker). He said the policy is you can only spend $50 on a debit card. My friend told him this was not true because she had purchased these cards every year. He told her they could not help her. She called the corporate office In Texas 3 times with no return call. On the fourth call, she finally spoke with an operator who said he'd have someone call her back.Finally, she was able to tell her story to someone there who confirmed that, yes,the manager lied about the policy. Two days later a white co-worker went to the same Chuck E Cheese and they gave her the tickets with no problem. Not Cool, Chuck E. To kids, this is Vegas. To parents, this is the place which makes you question your life choices. To bachelor Uncles with no kids of their own, this is Birth Control. I had a lot of fun with my friend's children, as well as all of their friends (about 8 in total), as we moved from game to game, laughing and playing. I do love kids and think they're great fun, but every Chuck E. Cheese I've ever visited seems to have a chaotic effect on even the sweetest children. At one point, I think I saw a child's head turn 360 degrees before demanding "MORE COINS" in an unnaturally deep, reverberating voice which I've only ever heard in horror movies (I threw him my wallet, created a makeshift cross out of discarded pizza crusts, and hung it around my neck on a candy necklace I found under a table ... I'm still wearing it). Nonetheless, the kids had a really great time and seemed incredibly happy as they ate crappy pizza, exerted more energy than most power plants, and spent enough coins to buy that giant mouse all the cheese in the world. The salad bar was reasonably healthy, so there are options which are natural and unprocessed; but all other food was standard Chuck E. Cheese fare (which is a nice way of saying it was pure, sugar laden crap). The restrooms were a bit of a mess, but with that many children, I find it hard to fault the young employees who were working hard to keep up with all demands. The staff was friendly and remarkably patient with the screaming, running, chaos of countless hyperactive children. The employees all appeared to be high school age and I'm pretty sure this minimum wage work experience has been a more convincing abstinence campaign than anything they're likely to learn in Sex Education. In fact, as I stood in line to buy more tokens, I heard an adult in the next line tell one of the teenagers (with a straight face and serious eyes) ... "If you don't finish high school and college, you could end up working in a place like this for the rest of your life". I swear that man should be a High School Guidance Counselor, because the look of abject horror on that teenager's face was enough to tell me he had suddenly decided to dedicate his life to education! I even saw him share the comment with his co-workers and the same terrified look filled their eyes as they stared across the counters at the hordes of children plundering the prize cases, assaulting the giant stuffed characters on stage, and attempting to coerce more tickets from the defenseless machines with slaps, kicks, and hip-checks. The parents who looked so happy upon arrival and greeted each other warmly, were little more than shuffling zombies by the end of the night; clothes twisted and wrinkled, make-up smeared and racoonish, hair in knotted disarray, and bone weary exhaustion visible in every step as they carried unconscious children who hung limp and drooling from their arms. It was a fun night and an invaluable glimpse into what parents endure daily; by the end of the evening, I was researching 'Vasectomy" on my Smartphone. But, as I said, the kids had a really great time and that's why we were there; so it was a successful evening of entertainment. read more

I haven't been here since they remodeled and must say the remodel was a big improvement. Now the games are organized better by age and there are more games my 2 and 4 year olds can play. I was not a fan of the part when they had the kids march around after the Mouse with the lure of free tokens and then it became like bad pinata scene when they threw tickets up in the air and all the kids scrambled to get their hands on one. I fully expected that walking into Chuck E. Cheese's would be like walking into my own personal brand of hell -- crazy kids running around at high speeds, screaming along with trailing tails of tickets and spilling little tokens everywhere. And presiding over all would be some poor soul stuffed into a giant, overheated mouse costume and forced to meander their way through the hordes, inspiring laughter and terror in equal parts. I am, of course, pulling from my recollections as a former cast member at a different location of this franchise. However, I still expected to be confronted by a wave of horrified nostalgia after I walked through the door -- but I was pleasantly surprised by what I actually experienced. The staff member in charge of Boyfriend's brother's birthday was very patient and polite, helping our party mom set up, direct and then dismantle the entire party smoothly and without causing anyone to overly stress out. He was also extremely understanding when our little birthday boy refused to go into the ticket cyclone machine (he'd been in it a couple years prior and hated it apparently), and instead let the party dad in to do the honors instead -- and THEN, scooped out some extra tickets from the machine and gave them to the party mom! What a sweetheart. The arcade was surprisingly clean and the games were in a decent working condition. And, while incredibly greasy, the pizza really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And the salad bar looked fairly clean and well-stocked! Bravo, CEC! You managed to keep me from tearing out my hair as a party guest AND kept me entertained for the hour and a half or so that I was here. And the kids loved it, from what I could hear of their laughter and comments as they zoomed by. I would consider recommending this particular location to others if my friends needed a venue to host a kid's birthday party. read more

Hate to start my review career w/something so abjectly negative but oh well, I was scanning restaurants trying to figure out what I want for dinner tonight and came across this pit, thought hey, I have somehting to say! This place is a freakin nightmare. The food is nasty, the patrons frequently are too - but I guess I am not the epitome of style and grace so I won't hate on the patrons. I have never been a fan of the Rat, but my husband loved to bring our 2 year old here. Until she was playing w/him there and tripped (as two year-olds do) unfortunately hitting one of their games that apparently wasn't properly maintained. The result: 8 hours in the ER, more than 7 stitches and a facial scar for life. Now, I realize accidents happen, and she could have fallen anywhere but it was their handling after. We just requested that they simply apply some of that super cheap plastic stripping on the sharp edge to avoid future accidents; which was of course met by the blank stare of their management lacky. They gave us a card and told us to call risk mgmt (who despite repeated calls never bothered to respond). 6 months later the issue had still not been fixed. Then let me get started on the filth that probably runs rampant through there (no, I am not referring to the children) but it is a germfest at best. So, at best you or your kid may walk out of there w/ a stomach ache from the bad food and overcrowded germy atmosphere. At worst you could have my experience and spend a night in ER, watch your child's body shaking convulsively from crying so hard, as they put your baby under general anesthesia and then pray they can repair the damage w/out lasting effect. Followed by not so much as an acknoweldgement from the company responsible for something totally avoidable. Sadly, we will never go back we'll have to miss countless Bday parties I am sure but oh well. I will continue to take my business to SuperFranks instead. Where the staff is attentive, and the facilities certainly appear maintained. Had they taken a moment to acknowledge us and assure us they'd repair the machine we likely would have come back. read more

two stars because my kids enjoyed it while they were there. the endless amount of games they can play for a relatively little amount of money. chuck is not about the food nor the service. it's about the entertainment value. chuck also makes sure an adult doesn't leave with an extra child that isn't his. read more

HORRIBLE.....HELL ON EARTH... Why do so many parents insist on throwing b-day parties here? Crappy, expensive pizza (better off eating a Mama Celeste), other parents who look like they are ready to throw-down and flashing gang signs...No Thanks.. read more
