What an experience! The selection of food is seemingly endless, but you come for the all-you-can-eat high quality grilled meats, including the juicy and tender A5 wagyu. The service is excellent (our server, Khoa, consistently checked on us to switch our grill and even help cook our meats), and the food comes out very quick after ordering. It gets a little smoky in the restaurant. The grill also gets very hot so it can be difficult to simultaneously grill and eat without overcooking the meat. But come with an empty stomach, and you won't be disappointed!

10/10 overall - from quality of the meats/sides, service, and ambiance. Our server Patrick was very attentive! We celebrated my dad's birthday there yesterday evening. It was my first time! It was not my sister or parents' first rodeo at Chubby Cattle. Can't wait to come back more often! What an epic experience. Of note, restroom was very clean.

Food overall was not bad, but it feels like something was missing. My favorite was the nigiri and hand roll. I did not really enjoy the meat selection since it was on the tougher side (we ordered gold). The layout of the restaurant did not help with the dining experience. Staff were very friendly and service was great though! TLDR summary: It's not worth long drive or over 1hr wait. Design of the interior is cute; however, the restaurant space is a bit cramped. There's no space to wait inside, so you'll have to stand outside/walk around the plaza to kill time. Although the booth design looks nice and offers plenty of privacy, I did not like how small it made me feel while dining. Maybe the space will feel more "open" if they remove the booth pillars (idk, I'm not an interior designer)? The height of the table/seat is not very short-people friendly. It would help if they add an optional seat cushion, so it gives an extra inch to help with those with short upper body torso. The lighting was also very distracting because it was flickering the whole time. The sides/self serve station is in the back, and it also feels a bit cramped there due to the layout. As for the food, I only liked the mapo tofu out of all the stuff I grabbed from the back. The curry meat was wayyyy too big, chunky, and tough. The veggie selection was not very appealing. I guess I had higher expectation because one of the workers at wagyu master hyped up this chubby cattle location. (& also I really liked that the Vegas location had the drinks up front for those who are waiting).

Finally got to try chubby cattle for the first time on Friday! I think we got really lucky joining the waitlist around 4pm because I didn't have to wait at all Got to hit the drum before getting seated which I thought was cool. Loved the japanese yakiniku ambiance when you first walk in! We got seated in a high chair bar area for a party of two. It wasn't a booth table but I thought it was very spacious sitting next to my partner. We got the gold tier. The special orders/dishes were really good. I liked my uni caviar wagyu one and my bf liked the foie gras wagyu. We really loved the beef tongue and the thick cut short ribs! Honestly they were all pretty good quality meat, however I can't name them all because I was too busy eating! I loved dipping them in the house made sauce on the table. I also loved some of the nigiri options that were ordered. They have a-lot of self serve complimentary options: rice, soft serve ice cream, mapo tofu/curry soups, miso soup, slushee machine, fountain drinks, milk teas! They even had fruit; kimchi, radish, edamame, seaweed salad, lettuce, and more. It was a bit hot inside when we were dining in, but I just had more iced drink refills to help with that. There were also a couple of menu items that were out of stock, so unfortunately we weren't able to try everything I wanted to on the menu. Overall I had a great experience for my first time dining here! Would definitely come back the next time I'm craving Japanese bbq!

I came for my birthday, sponsored by my wife! I was very excited so we came during a weekday to dodge the wait. Unfortunately the wait still sucked (40mins). But that's ok, builds anticipation. The inside of the store has at least 15 tables. However, I was not a fan of the layout. Too dark, too cramped per table. That being said, not like the tables were small or anything. They have a bunch of free snacks ("free") in the front. The mapo tofu and curry were offered. Curry was kinda mid but mapo tofu was fire. Rice and slushy also dispensed! We got "gold" tier. Though you can get A5 cuts for ayce, the A5 cuts offered are knuckle and brisket. The 2 cuts which are considered quite "lean". Even though marbling is quite beautiful on these cuts, due to the cut they weren't exactly melt in your mouth- they were tender for sure, but not as soft as Prime Ribeye, or A5 ribeye. I felt for the most part, the cuts were decent, but for $72 it's hard to justify the price. If it was A5 shinshin or ribeye or flank I could say it's worth it. the service was phenomenal though! really loved that. Our server was so nice, offered to cook for us, move our table, etc. and was super friendly.

Had a really great experience here recently. My group of 6 came in for lunch and everything from the food to the service was great. Heads up, there is a long wait and they don't do resy. Prepare to wait up to an hour for lunch. But worth! The meat and other menu items were high quality and fresh and there was a good variety to choose from, so we had plenty of options for the table. Everything came out quickly and was nicely presented. One thing you must order from the menu: lobster rolls. I also really liked the overall atmosphere. It has a lively, izakaya feel, noisy but somehow still enjoyable. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. Our server was helpful with recommendations and checked in on us without being overly attentive or making us feel rushed. He did forget a few items but made up for it by bringing us extra items towards the end of our meal. Overall, a really solid bbq spot. Great food, good service and a nice atmosphere. If you don't mind the smokiness, great place for lunch or dinner.

It was a 2-hour wait when we got here. It was worth the wait though because all the meat was very fresh and tender. I especially liked the beef tongue. Even better is that they offer jasmine milk tea for free. The other offerings like their sushi and appetizers were also good. I tried the calamari and salmon nigiri, which don't order too much or you'll get full. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't come back on a regular basis cuz I'm broke.

We came in with some friends and were served by Mason, who was really friendly and helped cook some of our nicer dishes! We had a wonderful time and he made sure to check in on us throughout. We particularly loved the Wagyu short rib from the gold menu and we also had points we redeemed for the A5 striploin which was also fun to eat with the ikura nigiri. We got to sit in the house party area since we came in on a weekday and it was awesome to get such nice seats for our party!

Chubby Cattle, you have been our #1 favorite restaurant since our first visit at the start of this year. I will continue to write you all the best reviews. It truly changed our standards for any BBQ restaurants, because we don't go to any other spots anymore. Lol. We are fortunate that Chubby is a short drive away from home. Exceptionally friendly, fast service! Tiffany helped us out, and she gave us such an incredible experience! She always checked on us & helped with our cooking. Your food orders will fly out of the kitchen pretty fast. The meats are fresh, never come out frozen, and all the other foods (sushi, sashimi, hot foods) are always delicious. The foods in the back are always fresh & replenished. I absolutely loved the milk tea and the new refreshing citrusy iced tea (I forgot the flavor!). Tips for any newcomers: If you're overwhelmed with what to order from their extensive menu, ask your server for any suggestions of what to try! The servers are also so friendly that they can help you cook (if it's not crazy busy), or at least get you started on how the grilling works. If you can, try visiting during the middle of the week (Mon-Thur) so you won't have the craziest wait time. My longest wait ever was 3 hours on a Saturday, but it was worth it in my opinion. On the weekends, you'll have to expect the long wait since people are out & about, and the shopping outlet is across the way. Anyway, Chubby Cattle has become our monthly date spot, our celebrate-a-special-occasion spot, and the place we take ALL family & friends who are visiting from out-of-town. Fam/friends who visit ALWAYS ask to go back to Chubby, and we take them back because it's another reason to exceed our once a month dinner date visit. haha. We already have an ongoing list of friends who are wanting to try it for the first time, because of how much we hype this place up. Chubby Cattle, please never leave us. If anything, open up another spot on the Peninsula side for our other fam & friends. I know you'd do just fine.

We celebrated my sister's birthday at Chubby Cattle, and our first visit exceeded our expectations! We had heard so many great things about this place, and it was the perfect spot to celebrate. The food was amazing, but what made the experience even more memorable was our waiter, Travis. He was funny, kind, and attentive, constantly checking in to make sure we were having a great time. That level of care isn't something you experience every day when dining out, and we truly appreciated it. Thank you, Travis and the Chubby Cattle team, for making my sister's birthday so special. We'll definitely be back!

Chubby Cattle: Come for the Meat, Stay for the Wait If you're a Weekend Gourmet Hunter planning to try the at Chubby Cattle, here's my advice: bring a big appetite, a lot of patience, and perhaps a folding chair! We arrived at 2:30 PM and signed up for the waitlist. Yelp had a waitlist feature, but it had already disappeared after 1:30 PM, before we even left home. Yelp! couldn't handle the demand! While we were waiting, the iPad for joining the waitlist was removed shortly after we signed up. New arrivals were told to wait in line until the iPad resurface at 4 PM. By 4:30 PM, the dinner waitlist finally resurfaced. We overheard the third party in line exclaim that the wait was *THREE HOURS* and keep in mind, they'd already been standing in line for over an hour! At this rate, people weren't waiting for dinner; they were waiting for their next meal of the day. Our estimated wait was over 100 minutes, and we finally got seated at 4:15 PM. So yes, the wait was real! Now the test begins! does the food justify the wait - like Ramen Nagi ? The good news? Once you're seated, things move quickly. The decor has a very authentic Japanese vibe, and ordering is easy. You can use the touchscreen tablet at your table or have the server help you place your order. The food comes out pretty fast, which is a welcome change after the marathon just to get inside. The display also has a timer to reming you ho long you still have to place your last order. By the end of the allot time, the bbq stove turnd off automatically and may need to flag down a server to help you turn it back on. The light also goes out and back up, a gentle reminder that you are staying past your welcomed vist? One thing that surprised us: unlike typical Japanese or Korean BBQ places, the meat here is sliced very thin. Don't let those delicate little slices fool you, though. They add up quickly, and you'll still end up stuffed, no matter how big an appetite you bring. Check out the food photos! Be adventurous, try out the items. Eveyrhing we order did not disappoint us. By middle of the course, I lost track of what we have ordered, A few things worth knowing: The membership perk:We ended up joining the membership, figuring we'd come back again--or perhaps try their upcoming Fremont and Milpitas locations, which hopefully will help spread out the crowd. The membership came with a very thinly sliced piece of A5 Wagyu. Honestly, it was a little too salty for my taste. It also came with two fish roe nigiri. Sounds nice, except we're a party of FOUR. How exactly are we supposed to share two pieces among four people? We can cut the nigiri in half, but splitting the fish roe evenly might require an engineering degree! The DIY hotpot loophole: There's no shabu-shabu or traditional hotpot option, but we found a workaround! The menu offers two soups: Tom Yum and seafood flavor. We ordered the seafood soup and dipped our Wagyu into it, essentially creating our own individual hotpot experience. Who needs a hotpot menu when you have imagination? The condiment counter: It's somewhat limited compared with places like Gan. The lettuce, however, seems to be the real crowd favorite. I visited the counter three times, and after my first visit, there were always only a few sad little pieces left. Apparently, lettuce is the hottest item on the menu--or everyone else had the same idea for wrapping their meat! Final verdict:The atmosphere is great, ordering is easy, and the food comes quickly once you're seated. The thinly sliced meat may look modest, but you'll get full. The membership has some nice perks, although the two-piece nigiri situation clearly wasn't designed with a family of four in mind. The biggest challenge is getting through the door. If the new Fremont and Milpitas locations open as expected, let's hope the crowds spread out a little. Until then, consider the wait an appetizer you didn't order. Pro tip: Sign up early, keep your expectations realistic, and don't let the thin slices fool you. You'll leave full--even if you arrive hungry enough to eat the iPad! Dessert? We Surrendered! By the time we got to dessert, we were simply too stuffed to eat another bite. Thankfully, the grapes, tomatoes, and assorted fresh fruits were delicious and refreshing. GAN, take note! The real treat, though, was the ice cream to go. We each grabbed a cup and took our dessert for a walk around the strip mall, hoping a little strolling would help gravity do its job and make room for all the food we'd stuffed into our bodies. At that point, we weren't walking to burn calories--we were walking to make space for the next meal. And Now, Behold the award: Wait time: (Deducted 1 star!) The food may be worth the wait, but a three-hour waitlist deserves its own Yelp review. Please figure out a better system! Food: 1/2 The thinly sliced meat is deceivingly filling, the variety keeps things interesting. Ambiance: 1/2 Love the authentic Japanese decor!

I think my pictures say enough about the quality. It's really hard to justify paying $65 ($78 without the member price) for yakiniku like this. At this point, I honestly regret getting the membership because I haven't enjoyed either Wagyu Master or Chubby Cattle. I was also disappointed to find out that all Mikiya locations in California are excluded from the membership, despite being listed on the official website. That feels very misleading. The waitlist was another issue. I checked in around 1:45 PM on a Saturday, only to find out they had already cut the line and the dinner waitlist wouldn't reopen until 4 PM. Their hours say they're open all day, so they should clearly indicate that the waitlist closes from 2-4 PM. We came back at 3:20 PM and there was already a line. Even after the 4 PM reopening, they only seated about five tables at first, so we didn't get seated until 4:45 PM. We were seated at the bar by the entrance, where it was very hot, and the music was so loud it felt like a rave. Our server was attentive, but the overall experience was not enjoyable. The only things I liked were the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Short Rib, beef tongue, Argentina shrimp, and A5 Wagyu Uni Caviar Nigiri. The A5 brisket and M8-9 Wagyu Otoro were particularly disappointing. The A5 knuckle was better but cut way too thick. I also questioned the quality of the "A5" meat because it was surprisingly tough and looked nothing like the photos. I even had to ask what some of the cuts were because they looked completely different. I've been to the Monterey Park location, which was slightly better, but the meat quality was still disappointing aside from the special cuts. I won't be returning to this location.

My wife and a friend of our's went to this Chubby Cattle a month ago. It's in a Asian strip mall complex with a 99 Ranch and other restaurants, it's also a block away from the San Francisco Premium Outlets (They call is SF Premium but it's in Livermore). We went on a Saturday afternoon, and put our names down on a waitlist, and we went over to the Outlets and did some shopping and more importantly walking to build up an appetite for AYCE. So it's not like we waited at or in front of the restaurant the whole time. We came back about 2 hours later and we got seated. There's a tablet screen at our table to make orders and there's also an area where you can get milk teas, fruit, sliders and other side dishes and a machine that despenses rice that you can eat with curry. My group tried to order as much as we could for variety sake while focusing on the Wagyu. The wagyu especially the O-Toro seems to be fattier pieces of meat than other beef items, so over the grill it the flames would flare up over the heat, so be safe and careful and know with those flames the meat will cook quickly. The meat, especially the wagyu was very yummy and fresh. You can order 10 items every 10 minutes, so if you really want to eat your money's worth be prepared. I recommend the marinated raw fish that you could order as a nigiri, as a hand roll or as carpaccio. Something to keep in mind, they have paid memberships where there are certain perks to it (e.g. preferrential seating, rewards, etc.) however like most rewards programs you need to go a lot and/or spend a lot of money for it to be worth the rewards. There's also a free program where you can accrue points, we liked the experience but probably wouldn't go enough to make a paid membership worth it. Good experience and addition to the area, hope you don't have to wait 2 hours.

Chubby Cattle Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Chubby Cattle

Are there gluten free options?

I don't believe so.

Do we need a reservation?

They don't take reservations. But you can sign up on the Yelp waitlist.

Are there Chubby Silver + or NFT perk options for round of drinks/app/dessert?

Those perks do not apply to most AYCE concepts given that they're already included in the dinning options. They only apply primarily to Ala Carte locations

What I get for my birthday as members?

If you are a chubby plus member you get 3000 points close to your birthday on the app that you can use for a silver menu. You can also pay the difference if you want to upgrade to gold or diamond. This only works for YOU and not other others if you…

Are there a lot of gluten free options?

Is there room to accommodate a party of 12 or more for a birthday? And how do I make a reservation if the phone tree says this location doesn't take reservations?

The place is too tight for 12+ birthday party. You need to walk there to put your name in for table.

Are there tables for parties of 6-8 people?

Yes there are.

Do they offer halal/zabiha options?

Yes they offer halal Australian wagyu, the servers are knowledgeable on which meat is halal and which is not

Is the membership worth the price? If one person has a membership, will the whole party get member price or everyone in the group has to have a membership?

The membership holder + one person gets the membership price (so 2 total).

How the waiting line to go?

Lunch waitlist starts at 11am, line up there and put your name on the Yelp Ipad. I recommend to go 1 hour prior to opening for lunch. This most likely ensures you will get to the first round of seating for lunch.

If i have a big group for lunch at 12:00, what is the max amount of people i can add on in a group, and what time should i get there by to be on the wait list?

The biggest table i think they have is for 6 so depending on your group size you might need multiple tables

Do you have birthday perks?

If you sign up for their paid annual membership, they offer a free silver tier meal on your birthday (or the day before/after) as well as membership pricing for you and a +1 for the duration of your membership.

If I want to have a birthday dinner here with a group of 8, around what time should we come sign up for the waiting list?

Dinner waitlist opens at 4pm. Honestly I would go latest 3pm to line up before/during the line forms.

Is there a limit on meat ordering per time? I can't stand it when they put a two order limit each time for two guests and when I come in with 6 people they invoke the same limit. Like gimme the meat!!, I'm chubby for a reason !! 🤣

If we want to get in 5pm, what time we should start waiting? When is restaurant open?

dinner waitlist opens at 4pm.. the lines get long and you would want to be there hours prior if you want to get in at 5pm.. 2-3pm, perhaps.. the restaurant opens at noon, with the lunch waitlist starting at 1130am.

Is all you can eat the only option here? Or can I buy a la carte? My husband wants to come for his birthday, but I don't eat meat. Can I just buy a plate of fries separately without paying $58 or whatever the lowest tier is for all you can eat?

It is an AYCE restaurant. The lowest tier (Silver) is $58 and that is what you would pay to start eating there. It would be an expensive visit for you to go and not take advantage of their full menu.

If you want to get in at 12pm what time should you start waiting in line to put your name on the list? Weekdays and weekends?

Hello, I agree with Albert. I would try and sign up for the chubby group and make a reservation ahead of time because they tend to get busy and the waitlist will sometimes be closed. You can also call 24hrs prior so that can help as well.

Do u take reservations?

Reservations are only for NFT members and Reward holders who have reached the adequate tier.

Can one person eat the lunch?

Yes! There's bar seating.

Is mikiya membership works there?

No it doesn't! I had Mikiya membership and had to upgrade to chubby + or whatever you call it lol had to add a small fee for an upgrade. Then once you get that membership you can use it for any of their restaurants.

However, the quality of the sushi and rolls were just not up to par, especially for a mid-week meal when high-quality fish can be readily sourced. Main cons: - The sushi rice was somewhat mushy and underseasoned for our palate - The white fish nigiri was not edible - The albacore tuna and maguro nigiri looked off and smelled fishy, so we did not finish either of them - The hamachi nigiri and the hamachi roll was only ok and did not have the expected buttery texture - The tamago nigiri did not have the right ratio of sweet and savory for our palate, or the right texture - The lion king roll included cooked salmon that was overcooked, although the underlying California roll part was fine We really wanted to like this place as they are close to work and delivery quickly, but their quality didn't meet expectations.

Starting with the salad, not a huge deal, but the dressing was definitely not your traditional Japanese salad dressing. Was expecting something a little more authentic, but it was just OK. My wife ordered the Lion King roll. Again, just OK. We've definitely had better, and for cheaper too. Nothing really special about it. My son ordered the chicken karaage, and that was pretty mediocre. Didn't really taste like traditional karaage at all, and the sauce wasn't helping either. Not sure what they were going for with that one. I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo. That was actually good. Nothing that blew me away, but no complaints. My other son ordered the potstickers and California roll. Both were fine, nothing really worth mentioning. Now, the yaki udon? That was actually really good! My son loved it. Probably the only dish that made us say, "OK, now we're talking." Overall, the place looks the part, but the food doesn't quite play the part. For the price, I was expecting a little more. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really made me want to come back either. Would I come back? Probably not. Too many other Japanese restaurants out there with better food and better prices. At least the atmosphere was nice!

They don't have a full bar or anything, mainly sake and some wine / soda I believe. They have a variety of options that I was surprised about. It's located near the Hacienda Theater, a good choice before or after the movie. We finished a day of running errands and shopping. This meal honestly hit the spot and the food came out fast. Definitely check them out if you're in the area. There's seating indoors only. It's not the biggest place but we were like the only ones around lol Stupid roll 10/10 it has a crisp to it Kanpai roll 7/10 if you like seaweed salad try it Beef Short ribs 9.5/10 amazing Baked mussels 10/10 these were great and I love the flavor. It's a large place with three workers, but no other customers were there. He had tried it before and loved it, so I had to oblige. I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki plate with salad, rice, and a starter soup. My plate wasn't anything spectacular--it was tasty enough, but not amazing. I did enjoy the sushi that came with it, so that was a nice bonus. My brother ordered two sushi rolls. They took longer than my plate since they were baked rolls, but once they came out, they were delicious. He let me try both, and I loved how they were topped. I've added pictures to this post because I don't know their names, but they're definitely something you should try. The service was standard--not outstanding, but friendly enough. I'm not sure why it was so empty, because the sushi is really good.
