Awesome Roll
Kacey S.

Got to go here the other night after hearing great things about it from some locals. We were promptly and friendly greeted and sat at a table by the window. The dining area is on the smaller side, but not uncomfortable. The menu had so many options it was hard to choose, but we wanted to try a little of everything so we settled on some sushi rolls, Kung Pao chicken, and House Chow Mein. Everything tasted great! My tempura roll was light and fresh and the Awesome roll lives up to its name! Yum!!! The chow mein could have used a little more flavor but it was still delicious. The service was impeccable! So friendly and polite, filled our water glasses often, and made us feel like appreciated guests! Definitely recommend :)

We came to Chu's too on a roadtrip because I think we were craving sushi and soup after a long hike and it was nearby. Honestly, it's pretty good for where it is, like I wasn't expecting AMAZING chinese/japanese food but it exists! I will say, it's not that great but the servers are really cute and I have a soft spot in my heart for these style of family owned chinese restaurants in these areas because you know they're trying their best with what they've got.

Great sushi! Great service! Hidden gem!! I'd forgotten about Chus Too, but I won't again! So delicious.

Appetizer boat Special Dinner

This restaurant was recommended for sushi but they have so much more! Small, cozy atmosphere, great service, excellent food! It was our first visit as we are new to Redding. We chose the house special dinner. It was salad, soup, sashimi, sushi rolls, tempura , rice and an entree of shrimp, chicken, scallops and vegetables. It was all delicious and so much food. We will definitely be back!

If you ever come through Redding and crave Chinese food, Chi's Too is the place. It is interesting that they are Japanese and Chinese restaurant but I find that they are more Chinese than Japanese. I ordered a family dinner for three and got an abundant amount of food that the three of us cannot finish. We got Egg Flower Soup with corn. Some Won Ton crisps, spring rolls and chef's salad as appetizers. California Roll was thrown in making to add the Japanese component to the dinner. The Yakitori Chicken were fantastic. Entrees include Beef with Broccoli and sweet and sour pork. Both were done well. The sweet and sour pork was done right with a crispy shell that is thin and light, not a heavy thick shell. The beef with Broccoli has a delicate taste. I feel that they are a cut above in terms of presentation, facilities, and taste. The only thing I noticed was, I had some left over sweet and sour pork. It was in the paper Chinese takeout box. I put the box in a plastic bag and then in a paper bag. The oil from the sweet and sour pork soaked through the paper takeout box, the plastic bag and the paper bag and was really gluey. That was a bit unusual. I would love to learn why that happened.

Fantastic sushi and the family dinner for two was delicious. I only took a few pictures as I was too busy eating. In addition to the pictures I posted I had a dragon boat of sushi and sashimi. As well as chicken and shrimp with vegetables. 5 courses in the family dinner for two.

The food here wasn't bad, but it did seem overpriced. I'd come back to check out the sushi, but maybe only for a special occasion.

Love the service and love the food. The ambiance is great too. In my opinion the best sushi in town (with the exception of Sakura).

Hard brown rice, no vegetarian dinner entrees, fake seafood in the fake Udon (no buckwheat) soup.

I just dropped my work rental SUV back at the rental place and a friend of mine was gonna give me a…read moreride back to my car. To pay him back I asked him where he wanted to go for lunch, he said that Chinese buffet. OK, I know what place he's talkin about, the Grand Buffet, On Hilltop Drive just off the 5 off of East Cypress exit. East to find and lots of parking. Looks like it's been over 2 years since I was here. The price for lunch now is $17 bucks plus tax and some tip. We get there and the place looks about the same as the last time I was here. They have these big Koi fish that seem to be an attraction near the front. We get seated and drink orders taken. We got here close to opening at 11 am. so all the food was nice and fresh and hot. Don't get here half hour before closing and expect there to be all hot fresh food, it ain't gonna happen. Some of the things I love here are those ribs! Yeah, Chinese can make so damn good ribs! Not Texas style though. Chicken wings are another of my fave here. My friend went wild and ate a ton of food, all kinds of noodles, ribs and wings. I pretty much skipped the carbs and filled up with shrimp, wings and ribs. They even have french fries if you want! Service is the usual just clear the plates and fill the drinks with minimal conversation. I gotta remember this place is here!

An Absolute Gem!…read more This Buffet Shattered All My Expectations! Let me be perfectly honest: I walked into this place armed with a healthy dose of skepticism. Having browsed some of the less-than-stellar reviews, my expectations were cautiously low. But from the moment I stepped up to the first steaming tray, it was immediately clear that this wasn't your average, run-of-the-mill buffet. By the way, it was lunch and was 11:30 AM. Any preconceived notions I had were completely obliterated by the sheer quality and care evident in every single dish. The first thing you notice is the freshness--every ingredient tasted vibrant and recently prepared, with nothing sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The food wasn't just warm; it was gloriously, satisfyingly hot. The highlights? There were almost too many to count. · The Chicken Wings: Forget any soggy, buffet-wing trauma you may have. These were a masterclass in texture--impossibly crispy on the outside, while remaining supremely juicy and tender within. · The Baked Salmon: This was a showstopper. Each flaky, moist fillet was infused with a rich, buttery essence and a deep umami flavor that melted on the tongue. It was a dish worthy of a dedicated seafood restaurant. · The Fried Egg Rolls: A perfect crunch gave way to a savory, well-seasoned filling. No greasy aftertaste, just pure, crispy delight. · The Egg Drop Soup: So often an afterthought, here it was a star. A beautifully balanced broth that was both comforting and sophisticated. · The Sautéed Mushrooms: Absolutely divine. They were garlicky, savory, and cooked to a tender perfection that had me going back for a second (and third!) helping. In a world where buffets can be a gamble, this establishment is a sure bet. They have clearly made a commitment to quality, flavor, and freshness that is frankly exceptional. Do not let the mixed reviews deter you. My experience was nothing short of phenomenal, and I will undoubtedly be returning soon. This place isn't just a hit; it's a destination. The real test will be when I return to see if consistency holds true. Update: I went back a few days later because I was hungry and I was curious. Again, it did not disappoint. Food was just as good as it was a few days earlier my review stays the same. Great job grand buffet!
